Both trainers switch again, and Cloak the Gengar faces off with Terrador's Starmie, Celeste. The two just slug it out with powerful STAB super-effective attacks, but ultimately, Celeste comes out on top, helped by the Stealth Rock, and a critical hit with salt water. Gengar's broken? Yeah right.

Calcs:
The pointed stones dug in to Gengar! (12)
Starmie used Psyshock! (crit roll: 7128 - no) (21 damage, 5 energy)
Gengar used Shadow Ball! (crit roll: 1756 - no, drop roll: 4566 - no) (21 damage, 5 energy)
Starmie used Brine! (crit roll: 126 - yes) (25 damage, 7 energy)
Gengar used Dark Pulse! (crit roll: 3556 - no) (17 damage, 6 energy)
Starmie used Psyshock! (crit roll: 7911 - no) (21 damage, 5 energy)
Gengar fainted!

Terrador.

That still lived.

Armaldo.

X-Scissor times three.

If Dive, Earthquake the first time and Dig on any other uses.
If Reflect Type is used, replace all subsequent actions that don't trigger sub one with Stone Edge

Terrador, Starmie's ability descriptions are outdated, according to the DAT.

Terrador!

As a side note, this match is making me think seriously about switch rules. Because of continuous switching, Terrador has been able to consistently order second, and I'm wondering if the rules don't need a bit of a tweak because of that...

Well, he can always choose to take a somewhat inferior matchup for the luxury of gaining the tempo, but he did not do so, and he paid the price. Stealth Rock also has unnatural power; if I got my numbers right, it did 87 (!) damage this match, and spinning was simply not an option. Rapid Spin needs to be buffed.

Hydro Pump ~ Brine ~ Surf
IF (Pain Split), THEN (Initiate action string Dive ~ Brine ~ Surf, yielding if a substitution is activated)
IF (Hypnosis), THEN (Initiate action string Dive ~ Brine ~ Surf, yielding if a substitution is activated)

ex. should Rediamond use the actions string Hypnosis ~ Pain Split ~ Hex, I would Dive ~ Dive ~ Brine; similarly, Hex ~ Hypnosis ~ Hex would result in Hydro Pump ~ Dive ~ Brine. You get the picture.

Beneath the surface

To clarify: I am not quite as stupid as my terrible performance this battle has made me out to be. The lack of any public post on dig getting fixed was bad, but the irc word of God codification against the switch early on completely destroyed my strategy. As for my last move, I knew Armaldo was getting OHKO'd anyways, so I might as well gain the ability to move last with Ninetales in the final round, and not be trolled by illuminate.

And completely agreeing that rocks need needed or spin/defog needs buffed. This is only a 4 Pokemon match and a single action dealt 87 damage.

And while I will admit that leading Scylant was stupid in hindsight (although if the word of God decree hadn't happened it would've been a very safe match), and I should've established my own hazards, I'd forgotten how utterly useless Spin was post-RD, and was afraid of Starmie at the start. But live and learn I guess. Nothing to do here but some token damage to make me feel better.

Energy Ball+Energy Ball

Energy Ball again should opportunity present itself.

Sunshine, knowing she can't possibly win, launches a desperate, double-strength ball of energy at her foe, which wounds Celeste heavily, but doesn't stop her from wrapping up the match with a thunderous blast of water followed by salt water to rub into Sunshine's wounds.

GAME!

9 UC for me, 3 CC for the both of you.

All of Red's mons gain 3 MC except Armaldo, who gains 1/2/1.

All of Terrador's mons gain 3 MC.

KOC are distributed as follows: Charizard (1), Starmie (3).

Before it was drowned again

Yeah, you two get reserved slots in Mossdeep. Spin needs buffed/not brutally nerfed, not much else to say.
