Region Wars

Mia and I started talking about which region would win in an all out war. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, or Sinnoh...Let's compare, shall we?

Ah, Kanto. The first region, the region that started it all. We all love Kanto. Let's see which rape Pokemon first originated in Kanto, shall we?

Kanto
Dugtrio, Alakazam, Tentacruel, Machamp, Slowbro, Gengar, Starmie, Gyarados, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Zapdos, Dragonite

Kanto's looking ok. Dugtrio and Alakazam, both of which are fairly mediocre, along with Tentacruel and Machamp. Slowbro's ok, but the rape really starts with Gengar. Then you have Starmie, and the star of the team, Gyarados. Vaporeon and Zapdos are also good.

Johto
Crobat, Umbreon, Wobbuffet, Forretress, Skarmory, Scizor, Heracross, Kingdra, Smeargle, Blissey, Raikou, Tyranitar

Lots of walls from Johto. Umbreon, Wobbuffet, Forretress, Scizor, Blissey, Skarmory. Blissey and Skarmory debuted in Johto. Raikou is good, Smeargle is situational, along with Kingdra. Crobat is fast, I don't really think it's that good, but at least it's cool. Heracross is a rape attacker, and perhaps the most influential Pokemon in competitive play, Tyranitar. Johto has Tyranitar. Damn lol.

Hoenn
Swampert, Sceptile, Flygon, Ludicolo, Breloom, Slaking, Ninjask, Medicham, Cradily, Milotic, Salamence, Metagross, Jirachi

Hoenn's looking pretty solid too. Breloom is always a pain in the ass, as Swampert can be from time to time. Hoenn has a lot of good, but not amazing Pokemon, like Ludicolo, Slaking, Ninjask, Medicham, Cradily, Milotic. Jirachi is really good...But then you see Hoenn has Salamence and Metagross. Wow. Pretty rape if you ask me.

Sinnoh
Infernape(<3), Roserade, Bronzong, Spiritomb, Garchomp, Lucario, Hippowdon, Rhyperior, Abomasnow, Weavile, Magnezone, Electivire, Togekiss, Mamoswine, Porygon-Z, Dusknoir, Azelf, Cresselia

Wow, talk about rape. My favorite Pokemon, Infernape, comes from Sinnoh. A lot of heavy hitters do also, including Garchomp, imo the best Pokemon in OU, Lucario, Rhyperior, Porygon-Z, and Azelf. There are some mediocre Pokemon, like Spiritomb, Roserade, Abomasnow, Magnezone, Electivire, Togekiss, Mamoswine, Dusknoir, and a few walls: Hippowdon, Spiritomb, Dusknoir, and the famous Cresselia.

I'm going with Sinnoh here. Sinnoh just rapes. Hoenn is probably second, just because Salamence and Metagross. Anyways, these are just my opinions, and I've probably missed a few Pokemon. Try to stay away from posts like "What? How can you say Abomasnow is bad???" Because I'll most likely reply with an answer along the lines of, "It can't deal a lot of damage," or "It's 4x weak to fire." lol. Anyways, who do you think the most rape region is?

If you were to talk about each region battling each other, then Sinnoh would most likely win nine times out of ten, just because of Garchomp. Let's name off some of Garchomp's main counters: Hippowdon (Sinnoh, provides Sand Veil hax), Bronzong (also Sinnoh), and Cresselia (beginning to see a trend?). Skarm counters it to an extent, but Fire Blast rips it to shreds. You'd have to rely on revenge killing to even force Chomp to switch out, but he'll just come back in later and force another revenge, then another, then another. . . You get it.

Seriously, a team of Hippowdon/Garchomp/Magnezone/Bronzong/Gliscor/Whatever might seem hastily built and useless in today's metagame, but when your opponents can't use any of your sweeper's counters. . . and that sweeper is Garchomp, it's pretty much GG every time.

I'm not sure which is the best all around (like, if you were to pick one to use in the standard metagame), but if you're restricted to one region per team, Sinnoh would definitely destroy the others.

How the fuck did you forget to put Heatran for Sinnoh? Does a little guy named Gliscor come to mind?

The "current" generation is almost always the best, simply because the game was made specifically with the generational shift's new changes in mind.

Kanto and Sinnoh. Tie. -jolly choice band garchomp and dragon dance gyarados on my Shoddy team with DDDos as my lead-

Kanto beats all your base.

OH NO! Not Garchomp! Whatever shall I do without a Dragon resist (bar Magneton)? It's not as if I have faster pokemon that can also Scarf.

Come on folks, Tauntrados, Dugtrio, Gengar, Alakazam, Tauros, Bellyzard, DDNite, Champ... Kanto walks over a lot of folks. They will take out these Neophytes old-school style.

Kanto pokemon are still staples for a reason. They've been tried and true and vetted through each generation, and they keep coming back.

Not to mention they have the original Spore-monger, Parasect.

But hoenn has breloom.

Sorry that I multi-posted.
The reason for Staraptor, Gallade, and Magmortar: Staraptor being the best Normal/flyer, Gallade was OU by the time Pearl and Diamond were in their early days (compare with Medicham from Hoenn) and Magmortar is one of, if not the only special Fire to learn the move Thunderbolt.

Pika25~ Edit button next time.

Originally I was going to say it's a tie between Hoenn and Sinnoh but after Deck Knight's post I have to say, Kanto does have a good chance of beating the other newer gens.

I have so many fond childhood memories of the Kanto Pokemon, that I'm practically brainwashed.

Dugtrio, Alakazam, Tentacruel, Machamp, Slowbro, Gengar, Starmie, Gyarados, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Zapdos, Dragonite

There's a few key (and not so key) Pokemon you've missed here - Snorlax, Charizard, Venusaur, Arcanine and Marowak! They all deserve a mention in my opinion, especially Snorlax.

Sinnoh is like the end project of Game Freak's years of research. They've discovered that super-powerful, fast Pokemon with quick stat-up techniques are popular so we end up with Garchomp, Infernape, Lucario, Azelf, Porygon-Z, Weavile, Togekiss and Electivire all in one generation. There's a reason that everybody predicted D/P to be so offensive.

If anyone here between the ages of like ~14-16 doesn't say Kanto, then what the fuck did you guys watch for cartoons in the morning? Damn, I remember how I used to watch the original Pokemon show so much...It kicked ass.

Oh and Kanto has Charizard. I have a Charizard plushie. Guess what I vote for.

btw we should include ubers to make it more interesting. cept for bye Kanto. =( Still do it though.

I'm 18 and I remember watching them... ahh, good ol' days.

I'd say Kanto... but I'm not really sure how to back up my claim. I think it would be close between Kanto and Sinnoh, but in the end every region has its own quirks that we wouldn't see until we put them against eachother. Maybe if some of the good team builders create teams for each region?

Kanto! I remember those days... with my Electabuzz and Kanghaskan, and how many time I spent on finding a Kanghaskan... Anyway, Zapdos, Gengar, Starmie, Snorlax, Aerodactyl, Vaporeon, Chansey, Ninetales, Alakazam, Machamp, Slowbro, Weezing, etc... all of them work great. The first part is always the best ;-)

I hear a competition. This could actually be a fun idea. But instead of having one person, we have teams.

That's it. I so got dibs on organizing that if I get help.
That sounds like a great idea! I'll help, although I don't know how I could.

Any ideas on how it could be achieved?

Kantou also gets a nice boost in that it has more pokes number-wise than any other generation . . .

edit: But I vote Johtou if only because Johtou is based on Kansai-- and Kansai rocks. honna yuutemii?

Yes, but Kanto pokes don't have the same improvements from Game Freak as the new ones. There are few Kanto pokes in OU.
