Regirock in Sandstorm, Wincing the night away

Well, UU sandstorm is probably the most fun gimmick team to use. The range of possible mons make it sometimes unpredictable. Whether it be using a giant dragon dancing catfish or a NFE uber revenge killer. Here is my first ever UU sanstorm team:

Hippopotas@ Focus Sash
Ability: Sandstream
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD

Yawn
Protect
Stealth Rock
Roar

This is the only lead for a sandstorm team because it summons a permanent storm. First turn I yawn, then if I go down to sash I protect until they sleep. If they switch after I yawn, then I may not get rocks down, but I have also prevented them from doing so. Protect also helps every second turn to rack up some sandstorm damage. Roar is a good scouting move, and the hippo gets to use it in many matches.

Not going to change this guy anyway.

Whiscash@ Leftovers
Ability: Anticipation
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Att/ 252 Spe

Substitute
Dragon Dance
Aqua Tail
Earthquake

After embarassingly getting swept by one of these, I felt I had to have one in my team. It replaces a sub-punching Aggron. He is the elusive water/ground type which gives it some important resistances. Substitute, just because it is the best move in the game. However, might replace with bounce to take out grass types like tangrowth. Pretty terrible stats in fairness, so this is a candidate for replacement...

Cacturne@ Life orb
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 4 HP/ 252 Att/ 252 Spe

Substitute
Swords dance
Sucker punch
Seed bomb

Sand Veil, anyone? Well not for some Shoddy battlers who have rage quitted and flamed after failing to take down this guy. He is an excellent sweeper, with a ridiculously high powered STAB priority move. Although he has some noteable weaknesses, such as fire/fight/ice, I am not willing to replace him. Nearly always sets up to +2 and behind a sub. And when he gets there it is hard to stop him without sacrificing at least one poke...

Cradily@ Leftovers
Ability: Suction Cups
Nature: Impish
EV's: 252 HP/ 116 Def/ 160 SpD

Stockpile
Toxic
Rock Slide
Recover

Very annoying to face, especially with the 50% SpD increase due to sandstorm. This added to stockpile makes it a great stall poke. The biggest problem is Milotic's haze. After 3 stockpiles, milotic always seems to come in and ruin the fun. Apart from this, toxic and a reliable recovery move are an excellent combination. It can be put to good use in every tier. Besides its moveset, I don't think this is one to change.

gabite.png

Gabite@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Adamant

Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Blast
Stone Edge

The revenge killer of the team. This baby chomp has served me well in the short time I dabbled in the world of UU sandstorm. Although he is NFE, STAB outrage off of 90 base attack stat can still wreak havoc among the lower tiers. Fire blast is for coverage, even though its hardly ever used. Earthquake is one of the most widely used moves in the game, and with STAB it is very powerful. I know there may be better revenge killers around, and I am happy to hear anyone's suggestions. Gabite can definately be replaced.

And finally,

377.png

Regirock@ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Careful
EV's: 252 HP/ 4 Att/ 252 SpD

Curse
Rock Slide
Rest
Sleep Talk

A beast in these conditions. In ss, his SpD goes up 50%. This added to 200 base defense means he is HARD to take down. I would say he is the best wall from any tier that I have used, in sandstorm conditions. After 6 curses a very potent sweeper too. Definately not a candidate for replacement. While he may not be as popular as registeel, he has done very well on this team. This is the set I have used, and if there are better ones to use, I would be happy to change it.

Well thats the new team. Any comments are welcome, even if you would not change anything/would change everything. Hope you have enjoyed this RMT, and thanks for reading, if you have managed to get this far.

EDIT: The title comes from one of my favourite albums, "Wincing the night away". And since regirock is always asleep, and the fact that is could take that long to take him down, I thought the two worked together...

You have an immense weakness to all Fighting types hitting 1/2 of your team for super effective damage, and Whishcash, Hippo, and Gabite cannot switch into any of their attacks. This is why I recommend swapping out your Whiscash, who seems to be the most changeable spot in your team, for a Spiritomb...

Spiritomb @ Leftovers
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
@Will-O-Wisp
@Pain Split
@Shadow Ball
@Hidden Power [Fighting]

Normally, most Spiritomb do not run this many Defense EVs, especially when paired with Will-O-Wisp, but it is necessary to repeatedly switch into Paybacks, Stone Edges, and EQs from the different Fighters in UU
