haha I remember everybody complaining about trick room, but it's almost never used now

staraptor and rhyperior just didn't deliver either =[
 
I've been lurking for a while after a joined [and a little before], so I caught wind of a few of these, namely the DP being all out offense bit. I usually can't play on Shoddy, but I've been caught in a few stall wars, and I tend to use bulkier pokemon myself. Of course, I wasn't around to see all of them I believe, but its still funny.

Doesn't the top bar let you search, or its not adequate?
 
The search that's currently up leaves out a majority of the threads (try searching for Meteoric Swarm, a phrase that showed up a lot in early DP) and you can't do a lot of useful things like search for posts by a specific user.

Well, that's what I meant by inadequate, such in lack of advanced searching. Only 5 threads came up when I searched meteoric swarm, maybe more should have popped up.

Meteoric Swarm is Draco Meteor me right?

I also recall talk of Rhyperior being powerful, I thought its ability was something to fear myself. However, now that I think of it, I never see Rhyperior in the few times I played Shoddy [my dad is against PC online gaming, I play when he is not home, so please tell me if I say a stupid]. I expected them to be a bit more...common.

Anyways, I loved this certain quote from an old conversation(which I was not part of) about why Jynx didn't get an evo:

It's actually something like 'Meteor Shower' if you don't translate it literally.

I remember when the base stats were ripped from the ROM. There was a grass with 65/110/130/65/60/95 and we were like 'ok, Eeveeloution'. Then there was Ice 65/60/110/130/95/65 and we were like 'wtf another Eevee?'. Then we see Ground/Dragon with 108/130/95/80/85/102 and we were like 'poor flygon :('.

And then we spot Normal 120 across the board and all hell broke loose.

EDIT: Also everyone was 'wtfrofl' at Manaphy Egg stats.
 
That was a pretty cool team, I was inspired by it and made a team with a similar strategy. Your rants about teams needing synergy has helped me build teams. =)
 
I was talking to a friend about the new gen. Man.

He thought choice scarf couldn't effect the metagame at all.

Ahahaha.
 
My first thought when I started looking at D/P were: "Man I hate Combee".

Also Dialga was cooler then Palkia, though my feelings have changed...
 
I recall all the sets involving Pursuit + Choice Band until Pursuit's glitch got fixed. Now it still seems to be recommended, but I bet it ticked off everybody hoping it wasn't a glitch.

Edit: I forget if Pursuit's bug mechanic was discovered in October or not, but it seemed to be a hot issue before the American release.
 
I remember Rampardos being fawned over, and:

OMG BAND RAMPDOS PWNS URSARING>>>

And i bet Urasring gets more use, being able to live through a light breeze.
 
Ursaring and Rampardos are both sturdy to some extent...

I still remember when Starraptor got Close Combat. All I thought was "I MUST USE HIM NOW!" And when Rhydon evolved, I thought he would get so much use. Oh God, remember the Gyarados + Electivire combo? It hit many teams Super Effective!
 
Well, it wasn't back then. But I do remember when I joined Smogon a few days after D/P was released in June 2007.

If you don't remember that moment, I was the idiot who recommended Aqua Ring / Amnesia Azumarill :-p
