Tentacruel@Black Sludge
Bold 252HP/240Def/16Spe
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Scald
-HP Fire

My lead. He'll probably be able to set up two layers of Toxic Spikes due to his bulk with this EV spread. He is also my Rapid Spinner, which is very important because I'm running Volcarona with this team. He has Scald for a chance to cripple physical attackers and HP Fire for the annoying steels this gen. After the spikes are set up, he'll be switched out to a more suitable Pokemon to fight. He is easy to switch in to because of his defenses and Liquid Ooze.

Snorlax@Chesto Berry
Careful 188HP/104Def/216SpDef
-Curse
-Brick Break
-Crunch
-Rest

A Curselax. Nice bulk with this set allows him to take many hits, especially physical because of Curse. After he can't take hits anymore, I can then proceed to Rest and wake up right away with the Chesto Berry. I would like advice on what two moves to use for most coverage. I was thinking Crunch for ghosts and Brick Break for everything else, but I'm not too sure. I don't want to switch him out after he has set up unless the situation forces me to.

Gengar@Life Orb
Timid 252SpAtk/252Spe/4Def (0HP IVs)
-Substitute
-Pain Split
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast

A Subsplit Gengar. Works wonder and can probably set up a sub first due to his high speed. I'll set up as many subs as possible before Pain Splitting, then take out the opposing Pokemon with Shadow Ball or Focus Blast. If granted a free sub, then Shadow Ball or Focus Blast can be used for a 2HKO.

Archeops@Flying Gem/Sitrus Berry
Jolly 252Atk/252Spe/4HP
-Acrobatics
-Rock Slide
-Quick Attack
-Earthquake

A quick sweeper for the revenge kill. With max speed and attack, Archeops can hit very hard without much outspeeding it. Acrobatics is the main move for as much damage as possible. Rock Slide is for STAB and coverage. Quick Attack can clean up anything that survived before it hits Archeops hard enough to activate Defeatist. The last slot goes to Earthquake to hit steels. The Smogon moveset for Archeops says Protect, but I don't see the point in it. Flying Gem is probably the item of choice for this set, but I may run Sitrus Berry to heal off his HP if needed.

Machamp@Lum Berry
Adamant 252HP/252Atk/4Spe
-Dynamic Punch
-Ice Punch
-Payback
-Bullet Punch

A No Guard Machamp will always land a Dynamic Punch, causing confusion to anything that survives a STAB 100 base power attack coming from 394Atk. Bullet Punch is priority to finish off anything that survives Machamp's attack. Payback is to hit Ghosts and Ice Punch is for coverage.

Volcarona@Leftovers
Timid 252SpAtk/252Spe/4HP
-Quiver Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Fiery Dance
-HP Rock

A very dangerous (if used correctly) Quiver Dance Volcarona. I've not used this Pokemon at all, so it may be hard to set up. The basics is to set up against a special attacker and increase his sweeper stats along with his already-high SpDef. Bug Buzz and Fiery Dance are for two strong STABs and HP Rock is to hit any Pokemon that resist the other two moves, such as Flying dragons, Gyarados, etc. I didn't know what item to give, so I just used Rocky Helmet. It can damage anyone who takes advantage of Volcarona's low defense stat and hopefully weaken it enough to get OHKO'd.

Any help is greatly appreciated. If something is lacking, please tell me what some good replacements for moves, items, and Pokemon would be.

I'm assuming that you are using the team for Wifi (i.e. item clause). You should consider using Black Sludge on Tentacruel and giving the Leftovers to Volcarona for you item issue.

Brick Break and Body Slam gets me completely walled by a Ghost and I'd have wasted my time setting up. A RestTalk Snorlax was definitely one of my options, but I decided against it because I don't know how to use it well. Do people usually stop Sleep Talking after like the second or third turn of sleep?

Hey there,

Your team WILL have issues with the very popular Excadrill. While you have two Ground immunities, one of them is Archeops, which is weak to Rock, and the other is Gengar, who will end up dying extremely quickly to Rock Slide, while having 30% chance of missing it with Focus Blast and 30% chance to flinch, so Gengar ens up having 49% chance of killing Excadrill, basically a coin flip. I think that your team would greatly benefit of swapping Machamp with Conkeldurr. While they may look very similar, Conkeldurr has some advantages over Machamp when it comes to deal with Sandstorm teams. The biggest is probably Mach Punch. Here is the Conkeldurr set :

Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Guts
Adamant
EVs : 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
-Drain Punch
-Payback
-Mach Punch
-Bulk Up

As you can see, this is pretty standard, but it works, so why not use it?

Also, you should run Body Slam + Fire Punch on Lax if you want the most coverage you can get.

Thanks for the tips. I'm actually using Conkeldurr on another team I have, which is why I'm not using him here. Would a Technician+Mach Punch Hitmontop be alright instead of Machamp then? And for Snorlax, I have a Volcarona with Fire moves, so what about Ice Punch? Also, wouldn't Return be a more reliable move? I don't see the paralysis from Body Slam doing too much.

Tentacruel: I mean, I see how you got him as your lead, but you also use him as Spin support for your volcarona and you might want to reserve him for later on your team. nonetheless pretty good. Steels aren't gonna want to switch into Tentacruel to start out with. but its up to you. consider Spikes or something over HP Fire.

Snorlax: I like the ChestoResto you got going on. I don't think Ghosts are going to be a problem in todays metagame. I Suggest Earthquake over Crunch to hit Excadrills/Heatrans HARD.

Gengar: I like your Gengar even though i'm more of the fan of the Straight out attacker lol. but nonetheless, pretty good.

Archeops: I'm not really familiar with this poke but with the Jolly nature it maxes out at 350 Speed, i don't know if that would be enough to revenge-kill someone that may be scarfed.

Machamp: No comments, i'm liking the set.

Overall, I like the team. Your team does have a 2/6 Electric super-effectiveness with nothing to counter it though, you might find that pretty annoying. A starmie can go through 3/6 of your team. Snorlax might be able to handle that problem though.

My plan is to set up Toxic Spikes and switch out. I don't expect him to die so early in the battle. As for Spikes over HP Fire, I may do that.

What about I ditch the STAB and stick in both EQ and Crunch? I'm having doubts about that, but with Jellicent, Dusclops, Gengar, Chandelure around, I'll want Crunch. Needless to say, many steels roam the metagame too.

Yeah, I've never used Archeops before either, but he has very high speed and attack power. If something is scarfed, I'll have to gamble with Quick Attack.

Thanks, Snorlax with Crunch could take out that Starmie too.

As for Snorlax, Return is a good option if you feel you don't need to paralyze things. Body Slam is there because it really scares potential switch-ins like Terrakion who want to keep their speed at all costs. I really wouldn't use Earthquake+Crunch, even if you get more coverage that way. The reason is simple : you need your STAB move to actually damage bulky things like Tangrowth and Gliscor who WILL wall you if you don't have that powerful STAB move to miscle through them. I suggested Fire Punch, since it's the move that will help you the most since it hits almost every Steel types for neutral or super-effective damage, the exception being Heatran, who can't really touch you if you have Rest. Earthquake and Brick Break are viable too, as Brick Break grants you near perfect coverage, but you get walled by Ghosts. Earthquake is more powerful, but it leaves you helpless against Skarmory. As for Crunch, you get walled by too much compared with other moves. Since Curselax aims at sweeping the other team, you want to get the most coverage you can get. And for Starmie, Snorlax walls it pretty well, and a STAB neutral Return (153 BP) is almost as strong as a super-effective Crunch (160 BP), so you really don't need it.

And I really wouldn't use Hitmontop if it wasn't for its ability to use Rapid Spin. You can use Gliscor at some point, which would help since this team is somewhat Dragonite weak. Gliscor walls Excadrill to no end but be warned, every Excadrill users have something to easily kill Gliscor, set up on it, or lure it, so be careful. Here's the set :

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
Impish
EVs : 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang
-Swords Dance
-Taunt / Protect

As I said, Dragonite will give this team problems. You can't revenge kill it after it has a Dragon Dance, and it can potentially kill every members of your team. Gliscor is very physically bulky and can kill it quickly with Ice Fang. Swap Machamp for it.

Thanks for the in-depth stuff! Would lacking a Fighting-type be bad though? Maybe I can give Snorlax Brick Break, but it's not as reliable. It's fine though, thanks! After four people's views on this, it feels like my team's not too bad, haha.
