1v1 Rockium Aggron - Update [GP 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

A Rockium Z set can also be used to beat threats to the Mega set, such as both Mega Charizard X and Y, without relying so heavily on Head Smash's inconsistent accuracy. It is also no longer mandatory to run Metal Burst and Taunt, allowing the use of Screech, allowing Aggron to beat certain Kee Berry Mew variants when used with Rock Tomb. However, Aggron is not nearly as bulky as Mega Aggron and is forced to keep its Rock typing, leaving it susceptible to threats like Mega Metagross, Haxorus, and Mega Lopunny.

Moves
========

Head Smash is essential for a high-Base Power Continental Crush able to KO Pokemon like both Mega Charizard X and Y and Incineroar. Rock Tomb is primarily used to lower the Speed of Dragonite while breaking its Multiscale. It is also useful for foes like non-Seismic Toss or Barrier + Kee Berry Mew so that Screech can lower their defenses. Screech is helpful for softening up foes too bulky for Aggron to beat normally, like Porygon2, Type: Null, and Z-Conversion Porygon-Z. Heavy Slam is necessary for Tapu Lele, as well as easing the matchup against Mega Gardevoir. It is also useful for non-Iron Head Mega Mawile. Metal Burst can be run to beat Choice item users like Genesect, Choice Band Garchomp, and especially Choice Scarf Dragonite. Taunt is another option in order to beat non-Seismic Toss Kee Berry Mew and stall Deoxys-S.

Set Details
========

208 HP EVs along with 52 Special Defense EVs let Aggron tank Earthquake + Extreme Speed from Dragonite and Breakneck Blitz + Shadow Ball from Porygon-Z. 156 Speed EVs let Aggron outspeed Adamant Dragonite after a Speed drop from Rock Tomb. The rest are put into Attack for maximum damage output.

Usage Tips
========

In general, Aggron is going to want to attack a Pokemon only when they are put range of Continental Crush by Screech or Rock Tomb. Screech should be used against slower and bulkier Pokemon, like Celesteela and Porygon2, while Rock Tomb is most useful against Choice Band variants of Dragonite. Rockium Z Aggron looks the same as Mega Aggron at Team Preview but beats a few foes that Mega Aggron can't, like Volcarona and Incineroar. This lets Rockium Z Aggron lure in and defeat these Pokemon. Additionally, Mega Aggron has very unreliable win chances against both Mega Charizard X and Y, so Rockium Z Aggron can bait Charizard to an extent as well. Against Porygon-Z, use Screech followed by Continental Crush to beat it in case it uses Z-Conversion. Against bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Porygon2, Aggron will need to use Screech twice before attacking in order to KO with Continental Crush. Against Type: Null, although Screech can miss, it has far greater PP than Iron Defense and Type: Null cannot threaten Aggron offensively, so eventually you will be able to put it in range of Continental Crush. Against non-Iron Head Mega Mawile, use Screech at first to avoid Metal Burst and Sucker Punch. This matchup is far from reliable, though, because if Mawile never uses Metal Burst and instead keeps attacking, Aggron will be forced to either try to PP stall Sucker Punch with Screech or use Heavy Slam, which runs the risk of Mawile using Metal Burst. If Metal Burst is ran, Aggron will need to predict if Dragonite is holding a Choice Scarf or not and use either Rock Tomb or Metal Burst accordingly. It should be noted that while Aggron can usually force an Earthquake from non-Choice Scarf Dragonite variants, experienced players can simply use their Z-Move followed by an Earthquake to KO it.

Team Options
========

Aggron is very weak to bulky Water-types like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Mega Slowbro. Electric- and Grass-types like Zapdos and Tapu Bulu can cover this weakness while benefiting from Aggron's ability to beat offensive wallbreakers like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z. Aggron is deathly weak to Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Donphan, so Water- and Grass-types like Manaphy and Serperior can be valuable partners. In return, Aggron can beat Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, fast Choice Band Victini, and Crustle. Opposing Steel-types like Magearna, Magnezone, Celesteela, and Heatran can wall Rockium Z Aggron very easily, so Fire- and Ground-types like Mega Blaziken and Zygarde partner well with it. In return, Aggron can help these Pokemon with threats such as Dragonite, Meloetta, and Clefable.

  • A Rockium Z set can also be used to beat threats to the Mega set without relying so heavily on Head Smash's inconsistent accuracy like both Mega Charizards.
  • It is also no longer mandatory to run Metal Burst and Taunt, allowing the use of Screech, This could imply that Screech is slashed on to Metal Burst, when it isn't, maybe add Taunt in there and when used in conjunction with Rock Tomb, allows Aggron to beat things like non-Seismic Toss certain Kee Berry Mew variants and Deoxys-S. mu has a lot of 50/50s, you need to predict either a t1 taunt or t1 ID, then you only have a 50% chance to OHKO if you predict taunt correctly, its v muddled
  • However, base Aggron is not nearly as bulky as Mega Aggron is, and also requires it to keep its Rock-type, leaving it weak to things like Mega Metagross, Haxorus, and Mega Lopunny.

  • Send Aggron into Pokemon weak to Rock-type like Charizard, Victini, and Mega Pinsir; Pokemon without an effective way to break Aggron like Mega Gardevoir, Meloetta, and Crustle; and fast, squishy, offensive Pokemon vulnerable to Sturdy like Greninja, Porygon-Z, and Naganadel. this seems a bit obvious, it boils down to 'send against weak to rock mons, mons that can't beat aggron, and pokemon weak to Aggron-like mons'
  • Rockium Aggron looks the same as Mega Aggron at team preview, but beats a few things that Mega Aggron can't like Volcarona, Incineroar, and Deoxys-S. This lets Rockium Aggron bait these Pokemon. • mention that against bulky mons like Type: Null and Porygon2 that you will need to use two screeches in order to KO with Continental Crush

  • A Rockium Z set can also be used to beat threats to the Mega set without relying so heavily on Head Smash's inconsistent accuracy like both Mega Charizards. Wouldn't this be primarily Mega Charizard Y? I feel like Mega Aggron has the bulk to beat Charizard-Mega-X, but do correct me if I'm wrong.
  • It is also no longer mandatory to run Metal Burst and Taunt, allowing the use of Screech, and when used in conjunction with Rock Tomb, allows Aggron to beat certain most Kee Berry Mew variants. Pretty sure both barrier and stoss are quite niche.

Usage Tips

  • As with any pokemon that uses tactical moves, it's probably ideal that you add a bullet or two here about general play with this set; namely cases where it's best to go straight ahead with the zmove, followed by cases where you'd want to use the more tactical moves.
  • Rockium Aggron looks the same as Mega Aggron at team preview, but beats a few things that Mega Aggron can't like Volcarona and Incineroar. This lets Rockium Aggron bait these Pokemon. • Against bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Porygon2, Aggron will need to use Screech twice before attacking in order to KO with Continental Crush you should probably expand upon the Null matchup, since they just ID to counteract your Screech. While you will eventually miss some Screeches, they can only ~20HKO you with Flame Charge, and will eventually run out of ID PP before they can KO you, unless you have Yech tier bad luck with hitting Screech.
  • Against non-Iron Head Mega Mawile, use Screech at first to avoid Metal Burst and Sucker Punch. This matchup is far from reliable, as if Mawile never uses Metal Burst and instead keeps attacking, Aggron will be forced to either try to pp stall out Sucker Punch with Screech or use Heavy Slam, running the risk of Mawile using Metal Burst.
  • If Metal Burst is run, Aggron will need to predict if Dragonite is holding a Choice Scarf or not and use either Rock Tomb or Metal Burst accordingly. For the most part, you can actually just Metal Burst safely. They'll be OHKO'd if they use Earthquake, and you bulk Extreme Speed + Earthquake. The only fear is if the opponent is smart enough to use their Z-Move followed by Earthquake.

Head Smash is essential for a high bBase pPower Continental Crush, (RC) able to KO things like both Mega Charizards and Incineroar. Rock Tomb is primarily used to lower the speed of Dragonite while breaking its Multiscale. It is also useful for things like non-Seismic Toss or Barrier + Kee Berry Mew so that Screech can lower their defenses. Screech is helpful for softening up things too bulky for Aggron to beat normally, like Porygon2, Type: Null, and Z-Conversion Porygon-Z. However, it will no longer be able to reliably beat Tapu Lele if it opts for Metal Burst. Taunt can also be run in order to beat non-Seismic Toss Kee Berry Mew and stall Deoxys-S.

208 HP EVs along with 52 Special Defense EVs lets tanks Dragonite'sAggron tank Earthquake to+ Extreme Speed, and from Dragonite, or Porygon-Z's Z-Hyper Beam to+ Shadow Ball from Porygon-Z. 156 Speed lets Aggron outspeed Adamant Dragonite after a sSpeed drop from Rock Tomb. The rest is remaining EVs are put into Attack for maximum damage output.

Usage Tips
========

In general, Aggron is going to want to attack a Pokemon only when they are in range of Z-Head Smash, after Screech or Rock Tomb is used. Screech should be used against slower and bulkier Pokemon, like Celesteela and Porygon2, while Rock Tomb is most useful against Choice Band variants of Dragonite. Rockium Z Aggron looks the same as Mega Aggron at team preview, but beats a few things that Mega Aggron can't, (AC) like Volcarona and Incineroar. This lets Rockium Z Aggron baitlure these Pokemon. Additionally, Mega Aggron has very unreliable win chances against both Mega Charizards, so Rockium Z Aggron can baitlure Charizard to an extent as well. Against Porygon-Z, use Screech into Z-Head Smash to beat it in case it uses Z-Conversion. Against bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Porygon2, Aggron will need to use Screech twice before attacking in order to KO with Continental Crush. Against Type: Null, although Screech can miss against Type: Null on their Iron Defense, Screech has far greater PP than their Iron Defense, and eventually you will be able to put them in range of Continental Crush, as you will alsore not be threatened by them offensively. Against non-Iron Head Mega Mawile, use Screech at first to avoid Metal Burst and Sucker Punch. This matchup is far from reliable, as because if Mawile never uses Metal Burst and instead keeps attacking, Aggron will be forced to either try to ppPP stall out Sucker Punch with Screech, or use Heavy Slam, which runnings the risk of Mawile using Metal Burst. If Metal Burst is ruan, Aggron will need to predict if Dragonite is holding a Choice Scarf or not, and use either Rock Tomb or Metal Burst accordingly. It should be noted that while Aggron can usually lure in an Earthquake from non-Choice Scarf Dragonite variants, experienced players can simply use their Z-Move followed by an Earthquake to KO Aggron.

Team Options
========

Aggron is very weak to bulky Water-types like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Mega Slowbro. Electric- and Grass-types like Zapdos and Tapu Bulu can cover this weakness while benefiting from Aggron's ability to to beat offensive wallbreakers like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z. Aggron is deathly weak to Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Donphan, so Water- and Grass-types like Manaphy and Serperior can be valuable assets topartners for Aggron. In return, Aggron can beat Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Fast Choice Band Victini, and Crustle. Opposing Steel-types like Magearna, Magnezone, Celesteela, and Heatran can wall Rockium Z Aggron very easily, so Fire- and Ground-types like Mega Blaziken and Zygarde partner well with Aggron. [OVERVIEW]
A Rockium Z set can also be used to beat threats to the Mega set, such as both Mega Charizards, ("Mega Charizard X and Y")without relying so heavily on Head Smash's inconsistent accuracy like both Mega Charizards. It is also no longer mandatory to run Metal Burst and Taunt, allowing the use of Screech, andwhich when used in conjunction with Rock Tomb (RC) allows Aggron to beat certain Kee Berry Mew variants. However, base (either works) Aggron is not nearly as bulky as Mega Aggron is (RC) and also requires itis forced to keep its Rock-type Rock typing, leaving it weak susceptible to things threats like Mega Metagross, Haxorus, and Mega Lopunny.

Head Smash is essential for a high-bBase (AH) pPower Continental Crush, (RC) able to KO things like both Mega Charizards X and Y and Incineroar. Rock Tomb is primarily used to lower the Speed of Dragonite while breaking its Multiscale. It is also useful for things foes like non-Seismic Toss or Barrier + Kee Berry Mew so that Screech can lower their defenses. Screech is helpful for softening up things foes too bulky for Aggron to beat normally, like Porygon2, Type: Null, and Z-Conversion Porygon-Z. However, it Aggron will no longer be able to reliably beat Tapu Lele if it opts for Metal Burst. (meh unneeded) Taunt can also be run is another option (repetition) in order to beat non-Seismic Toss Kee Berry Mew and stall Deoxys-S.

208 HP EVs along with 52 Special Defense EVs lets (let) tanks Dragonite'sAggron tank Earthquake to+ Extreme Speed, and from Dragonite, or Porygon-Z's Z-Hyper Beam Breakneck Blitz to+ Shadow Ball from Porygon-Z. 156 Speed lets ("EVs let") Aggron outspeed Adamant Dragonite after a sSpeed drop from Rock Tomb. The rest is remaining EVs are (or just "rest are") put into Attack for maximum damage output.

Usage Tips
========

In general, Aggron is going to want to attack a Pokemon only when they are in range of Z-Head Smash Continental Crush, after Screech or Rock Tomb is used. Screech should be used against slower and bulkier Pokemon, like Celesteela and Porygon2, while Rock Tomb is most useful against Choice Band variants of Dragonite. Rockium Z Aggron looks the same as Mega Aggron at Team Preview, but beats a few things foes that Mega Aggron can't, (AC) like Volcarona and Incineroar. This lets Rockium Z Aggron baitlure (same thing either works) these Pokemon. Additionally, Mega Aggron has very unreliable win chances against both Mega Charizards X and Y, so Rockium Z Aggron can baitlure (same) Charizard to an extent as well. Against Porygon-Z, use Screech into Z-Head Smash followed by Continental Crush to beat it in case it uses Z-Conversion. Against bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Porygon2, Aggron will need to use Screech twice before attacking in order to KO with Continental Crush. Against Type: Null, although Screech can miss against Type: Null on their Iron Defense, Screech it has far greater PP than Iron Defense and Type: Null cannot threaten Aggron offensively, and so eventually you will be able to put them it in range of Continental Crush, as you will alsore not be threatened by them offensively. Against non-Iron Head Mega Mawile, use Screech at first to avoid Metal Burst and Sucker Punch. This matchup is far from reliable, though, as because (as is fine) if Mawile never uses Metal Burst and instead keeps attacking, Aggron will be forced to either try to ppPP stall out Sucker Punch with Screech, or use Heavy Slam, which runnings the risk of Mawile using Metal Burst. If Metal Burst is ruan, ("is run" is correct) Aggron will need to predict if Dragonite is holding a Choice Scarf or not, (two-item list, no comma) and use either Rock Tomb or Metal Burst accordingly. It should be noted that while Aggron can usually lure in an Earthquake from non-Choice Scarf Dragonite variants, experienced players can simply use their Z-Move followed by an Earthquake to KO Aggron it.

Team Options

Aggron is very weak to bulky Water-types like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Mega Slowbro. Electric- and Grass-types like Zapdos and Tapu Bulu can cover this weakness while benefiting from Aggron's ability to to beat offensive wallbreakers like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z. Aggron is deathly weak to Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Donphan, so Water- and Grass-types like Manaphy and Serperior can be valuable assets topartners for (either works) Aggron. In return, Aggron can beat Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, fast Choice Band Victini, and Crustle. Opposing Steel-types like Magearna, Magnezone, Celesteela, and Heatran can wall Rockium Z Aggron very easily, so Fire- and Ground-types like Mega Blaziken and Zygarde partner well with Aggron it. In return, Aggron can help these Pokemon with threats such as Dragonite, Meloetta, and Clefable.
