A match has already happened between Scoop and I, and the replay for that match is viewable in our Discord server's #replays room. This slate will actually already be usable in Ubers starting tonight if you want to test these five mons out yourself. Otherwise, you have three-ish days to discuss the five mons above!

Gastroal - Rocky Payload Diamond Storm
Spritsoul - Broken. Enormous attack stat + amazing movepool.
Kynknight - Interesting defensive pivot. Doom Desire might be relevant for it.
Scorpioxic - Broken. Solid attack and speed stats + Fishious + Shell Smash.
Rhinoshroom - Victory Dance makes this suspicious, but it might be fun.

Gastroal: Meh. This thing's bulk is insanely good, and Fighting/Bug is quite a nice typing for something like this, but it looks horribly passive. Corrosive Gas and Lingering Aroma are cool, and I'm almost never going to complain with a fatmon getting Defog, but that's really it. Its attacking stats are way too low and once it removes your item and/or ability, that's almost the full extent to what it'll be doing to you. Ruination is the one exception and I could see that being a point of interest for some people, Diamond Storm is interesting and someone on the Discord said they find Bulk Up interesting on this even if I don't agree. I'm not a huge fan of this but absolutely would not be offended if people liked it.

Spritsoul: we can agree to ignore this one right

Kynknight: We just got two fat Steels in a row, one of which is a pure Steel-type that also functions as a pivot... Yeah I think this is going to put Teleyle out of a job if we vote it in. There's clear strengths for Teleyle but I think Kynknight would just do what it wants to better. Maybe if this thing had some interesting dual typing I'd be on board but no such luck.

Scorpioxic: I kept trying to give myself the benefit of the doubt on this to at least look at it but I don't know if I can. Firstly those stats are really optimized, not a good start. Then I realize it gets Shell Smash. Okay, it'll probably be pretty strong unless it's held back by horrible coverage, right? It notably has Icicle Crash, Grav Apple, and the move that completely ruins any chance it had - Fishious Rend! Broken.

Rhinoshroom: In my opinion, easily the most interesting Pokemon this slate. Its special bulk is genuinely not bad and Toxic immunity is really cool now that we have some prominent spreaders. Victory Dance is the obvious option here, and I think its stat spread is perfect here. For the amount of defensive utility it has, it's not especially difficult to outspeed at +1 given how close it is to Elemadillo, and it should be strong enough to do what it needs to after a boost given its strong coverage. Thunderous Kick and Switcheroo will make it harder for non-Victory Dance sets to be switched into and Toxic Spikes is fun on this as well. Honestly like this mon a lot more than a vast majority of the stuff we've gotten so far, definitely voting yes on this unless someone changes my mind.

Gastroal: Whelming. Diamond Storm can catch Fires and Flyings on the switch, but it sure isn't KOing. Doesn't have a lot of utility for a defensive mon that would make it worth running. Ruination and Corrosive Gas can harass the opponent while Defog is useful hazard removal, Horn Leech is recovery even if it ain't good on it. Doesn't really check anything with its defensive typing. Probably going to give this one a pass.

Spritsoul: Wow.

Kynknight: You know what? Sure, another fat steel. I would assume Teleyle would run more offensive sets in response to this existing. Physical bulk is pretty meh. Seems okay, Doom Desire shenanigans could be fun.

Scorpioxic: I love Roulettemons.

Rhinoshroom: Very cool mon. Victory Dance is probably the main go-to set and it does have a decent amount of coverage options, though it could also potentially go mixed to catch physical walls by surprise. I like how Grass/Poison/Fighting is resisted by Poison, but then 2/3 of the existing Poisons don't resist Fighting.

Gastroal: I don't think this will be particularly good due to the passivity, but maybe Ruination can save it. One of the best pokemon right now is Slowghast, who gives it a lot of competition as a hazard remover and is a massive headache for Bulk Up sets. Probably would end up becoming a stall pokemon.

Spritsoul: Kartana-level offenses, Ghost-type No Retreat, and Multi-Attack for the 120 BP Ghost or Dark STAB. It also has obscene coverage moves and Spore. The question is, will the level of offense in Ubers force it into running Scarf sets? It does have terrible Defense, and I can imagine it would still do good damage with unboosted STABs.

Kynknight: I think this is bad, but if the obscene Special bulk saves it it wouldn't make me like it any more. Doom Desire and Revelation Dance off of 82 SpA is its only way to deal damage. I think Doom Desire as your only attack is really bad. Gen 8 Slowbro had Scald and Regenerator to back up the strategy. Running both forgoes Aromatherapy or Teleport. Running only Revelation Dance is probably the smartest move, but you have to accept you are not damaging anything not named Radiore.

Scorpioxic: Ubers mon. Funny how its defenses look like a typical Shell Smash pokemon but it has 148 Spe instead of 30. You could max HP and Atk and still outspeed everything after a setup, although running Max Speed so you can attack more easily without setting up still makes sense.

Rhinoshroom: Here's a mon we can use, as we don't have many setup sweepers. It's not all that bulky, fast, or strong to be frank, but Victory Dance and strong defensive typing backed by Earth Earter should help. It also doesn't match up particularly well into Slowghast, Radimite, and Fierutor, basically all of the physical walls. You can hit them with Switcheroo, at least. The question is whether it can clean very effectively or have some other midgame use, both of which I'm doubtful of.

Might just No/Abstain across the board on this one.

You may now vote!

Gastroal: Abstain
Spritsoul: No
Kynknight: No
Scorpioxic: No
Rhinoshroom: Abstain (was convinced by last post - need to start looking at the meta now that i've played it some)

Gastroal and Rhinoshroom both made it. Apologies for how long that voting took, onto the next slate!

Groodo: It can't make use of either of its abilities well, and has to contend with the fact that there are already other bulky Grasses around. It does get cool utility options in Glare and Strength Sap, with Diamond Storm to boost already good defense. Kind of on the fence.

Swagear: An okay-ish Tail Glow user but also a scary physical breaker, it even gets Salt Cure to break past would be resists and it can't get burnt. Might be too much.

Demoorb: Good coverage, good offensive stats, decent physical bulk, can either go Victory Dance or Fillet Away. Don't like it.

Seismialo: Similar to above, but it has better bulk and Shell Smash instead.

Gladlord: Another bulky Steel, this one has a whopping 8 speed. Very bulky with Vessel of Ruin, and can set up with Fillet Away while recovering with Milk Drink. It is 4x weak to Ground and is unlikely to sweep anytime soon. It has utility options in Corrosive Gas and Dragon Tail to annoy the opponent. It's alright I guess.

Groodo: See above post - explained. Idk yet

Swagear: This is giving me weaker Mega Metagross vibes, but has a built-in nerfed weakness policy/or can't be burned. It might be too much for the meta, despite it's low special bulk due to its versatility with being either physical, special or mixed. Probs gonna pass on this one.

Demoorb: No. Good set-up options in Victory-Dance and Fillet Away and insane speed is scary.

Seismalo: Yea...No. It's self-explanatory at this point but anything with decent bulk and Shell Smash is just broken. (Also does anyone realize this has Prankster with Shell Smash?!?)

Gladlord: I'm iffy 'bout this one. Good bulk despite it's 4x weakness to Ground and has Vessel Of Ruin too. Very grateful this has 8 speed with DIB cuz if if it was good/decent speed tier, easy no. Probs Abstaining

Gonna No/Abstain for this one maybe

Groodo: Not a big fan of this gargantuan bulk and Strength Sap / Glare. It would sort of outclass Marshasaur (not really bc that gets Stone Axe) and Pengite at once. Beak Blast is another possible annoyance on it. I also just think we have enough physical behemoths right now and would rather see some blanket special checks than physical ones.

Swagear: Epic matchup fish thanks to Court Change, boring otherwise. Sorry to drive a hard line on this but I don't want Court Change in the meta unless the mon really isn't well suited to using it.

Demoorb: I'm not as scared of this as others seem to be. Zing Zap is not a great STAB; I don't even see Elemadillo clicking it too often and that has Parental Bond. It also will die to pretty much any Special attack, even from a bulky pokemon. There's also Slowghast, once again messing up every Atk+Def boosting setup. I think it could be ok, probably even a bit weak. The big Def and Spe gives it a chance to go nuts with Victory Dance once special threats are removed, but that's kinda how sweepers are meant to work in the first place.

Seismalo: It's certainly very scary with the level of special bulk, Shell Smash, and great dual STABs. Fierutor and Slowghast probably counter it from full but idk how reliable they'd be in the long run.

Gladlord: Stupidly bulky with great typing, but its only support moves are Dragon Tail and Corrosive Gas. Its attacking movepool and SpA are pretty good too, fwiw. Not the biggest fan, but willing to hear arguments for it.
