Welcome, Smogon, to the first edition of RU Majors! This is the premier edition of an annual RU Circuit Tour where you can test your mettle against the top players in the community. Unlike most elimination tours, where your opponent is a matter of chance, RU Majors ensures that every participant plays a broad swath of the tier's playerbase as you fight your way to the top.
The tournament is divided into two stages - a round-robin qualifier and an elimination bracket. During Stage 1, players will be divided into pools, where they will play every other member of the pool in a best-of-one round robin. High prolific players will be selected as 'Pool leaders' to ensure that each pool is as fair as can be.
At the end of Stage 1, each player will be ranked within his or her pool. The top two players of each pool will advance to Stage 2, where they will be entered into a single elimination bracket. The top 16 of Stage 2 will be awarded varying levels of RU Circuit Points, as well as a small number of points for anyone who makes it to Stage 2.

Tour Specific Rules:
- Stage 1 matches will be best-of-one. You may switch teams between opponents.
- If a player is subbed out then the new player continues on with the previous record.
- Dropping out of the tour after losing a game or two (or more) will result in a ban from the next iteration of RU Majors.
- If two players tie for the second seed, the winner of their head-to-head game proceeds to playoffs.
- You must be active in scheduling with your opponents. Use the VM Wall or make a Smogon PM to contact your opponents (if you make a group PM, then add me). If you're inactive, you'll be subbed out. The main wave of subs will happen on Friday during the first week of the tour to allow subs two weekends to schedule and play. Any other subs will be used as needed.
- Stage 1 is a round robin format. This means that you are expected to play every opponent in your pool, even if you lose the first couple of games.
- This is a standard SM RU tournament.
- Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown.
- Saving replays is mandatory, in the case of a dispute you must be able to prove that you won your game.
- Sleep Clause: A player cannot put two or more different opposing Pokémon to sleep using attacks that induce sleep to opposing Pokémon.
- Species Clause: A player cannot have two of the same Pokémon on their team. For example, a player cannot have two Koffing on his or her team.
- Evasion Clause: A player cannot use the moves Double Team or Minimize in their Pokémon's movesets.
- OHKO Clause: Players cannot use Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, or Fissure in any of their Pokémon's movesets.
- Timer Clause: If a player exhausts the timer, he/she loses.
- Endless Battle Clause: Any moveset on any pokemon that is capable of intentionally causing an endless battle is banned from competitive play.
