All Pokemon are unable to function effectively without their checks and counters gone, which is where their teammates come in. These partners are capable of dismantling multiple Pokemon proving a threat to their teammates, providing invaluable support and thus are often seen as the heart of the team.
This project aims to brainstorm various ideal and effective partners to various Pokemon that may range from metagame defining Pokemon to more underrated threats.​

Procedure

Every week, I will nominate a Pokemon for discussion of potential partners and submissions. In that week, you will have the chance to submit any good partners for that chosen Pokemon, and after the course of the week I will choose the three best partners for that chosen Pokemon and put it into the archive. People that manage to get into the archive multiple times with good submissions will be let into the Hall of Fame.

Rules

1. Stick with things on the viability rankings. Pokemon such as Beautifly or Simisage which are not viable should not be nominated at all.
2. Reservations are perfectly welcome. However, this time frame must be no longer than 24 hours. After this time has expired, other users can take your reservation and do it for themselves.
3. Don't theorymon. Post Pokemon that you have experience with, or have seen it have quite some use, don't pull Pokemon out of your ass that you think will work well. Have some experience first please.
4. Explain how and why the Pokemon you chose works well. For example, offensive synergy in terms of checks and counters or defensive synergy in terms of typing and checking threats.
5. Be nice to others with your posts and only post meaningful things. One-liners clutter up the thread, as do random memes.
6. Calcs are nice, but not compulsory.

This is an awesome idea for a project btw, I really like it, hope it gets enough activity.

I'll start out with this:

SD+MR Cobalion and CM Reuniclus is a core I used in like stage 3 or even before in RU, and I still strongly feel like it's good to this day. This works better with Shadow Ball Reuniclus as it can take care of Doublade for Cobalion. Reuniclus's counters are mostly Dark-types namingly Taunt Spiritomb, Punishment Skuntank, Drapion, and other niche stuff like Megahorn Rhyperior which can also pack Roar, in addition to Steelix, although they could fall to Focus Blast; but that wouldn't be what you're using in this scenario anyway. Cobalion with Magnet Rise can set up on all of them bar Spiritomb who can just burn Cobalion twice. Reuniclus is also good because it can beat most calm minders 1on1 and it can counter Slowking relatively well, which clears up for SD Cobalion.

tl;dr Reuniclus w/ Shadow Ball takes care of things for Cobalion, and vice-versa with Cobalion taking care of Dark-types and Steelix/rhyperior and the bunch.

Dugtrio is special towards Reuniclus, because it can cater towards both Focus Blast and Shadow Ball sets. With Arena Trap, Dugtrio can eliminate specific targets that Reuniclus needs gone to setup. It caters towards both sets as Dugtrio can pick and choose which targets Reuniclus can't hit with what coverage it's lacking, thanks to the coverage of this moveset. Earthquake is essential to do massive damage towards Doublade, Drapion, Emboar, and other ground-weak targets. Sludge Wave adds Reuniclus more as it does hefty damage towards Virizion, Tangrowth, and most importantly, Whimsicott. Sucker Punch is useful to give Dugtrio some much needed Priority, but for the most part it's optional. You can opt to go for Substitute to insure better odds against Cobalion, Skuntank and Houndoom, all of which can potential take damage from Trio and dish it back and crushing Dugtrio's purpose towards Reuni. Memento is a god send when paired with Reuniclus, because it gives him a cushion where he can start setting up Calm Minds against weakened targets. It also gives Dugtrio a lasting purpose against a pokemon that he can't damage well.

Dugtrio is a glue partner to Reuniclus that is a very mutual. Dugtrio traps targets that Reuni can't kill and Reuni sets up and starts sweeping teams with pain and agony.

Emboar pressures Drapion, Doublade which is horrible for reun w/ focus blast, and Houndoom while checking them decently and providing a solid scarfer that can deal out a lot of damage versus more offensively inclined teams.

Spiritomb @ BlackGlasses/Leftovers

In my opinion, Spiritomb is a pretty underrated threat to teams. It could be paired up with Reuniclus to make a fairly nice core. It could Pursuit Trap Reuniclus's threats so it could set up. What makes Spiritomb a special partner is that it beats specially defensive Meloetta, which can stop Reuniclus easily. Spiritomb can also weaken Doublade with Will-O-Wisp, although Doublade is not as massive of a threat if Reuniclus if it has Shadow Ball, but it's still a threat in the end.

Golbat can form a nice core with Tyrantrum. It's immune to Ground-type moves and resists Fighting-type moves, which are super effective to Tyrantrum. Since Tyrantrum has a Choice Band, it would need to switch in and out a lot. Defog is great because it can remove hazards, which can wore down Tyrantrum. Super Fang is also an amazing move to have. It can wore down Steel-type Pokemon by a lot so Tyrantrum can defeat it easily.

Cool choice this week, most of the time Tyrantrum is seen as a Choice Scarf Pokemon, given that it has much more utility than the other sets like Choice Band, Rock Polish, or Dragon Dance (pls don't use this D:). However, Choice Band Tyrantrum has a cool niche on teams that give speed control support, either through Sticky Web, Paralysis support, or even stuff like Tailwind. It also has nice Physical Bulk for an offensive Pokemon meaning that it can switch into Resisted Physical hits or even weak neutral attacks with ease. One goal with any partner should be to reduce the number of "predictions" you have to make when using Tyrantrum cause lets be real you just want to press Head Smash, lol. One Partner that is capable of luring in Steel-types and deals with Rock-types no problem while supporting Tyrantrum's unfortunate speed stat is none other than Whimsicott.

So this set aims to lure in Steel-types and bop them with HP Fire, weakening them for Tyrantrum, while still providing support to Tyrantrum against offense with the use of Tailwind. U-turn is nice if you think you can afford to give up Moonblast, as you need Giga Drain to deal with Rhyperior (well not need, but it helps). Stun Spore is also an option over Tailwind on this set if you think that Tailwind's short turn number is annoying + Stun Spore allows you to grab some key paras mid game which can put your opponent on the back peddle. Sucks you have to drop encore, but idk what else to tell ya D:

May post another Pokemon / set later that I think complements CB Tyrantrum quite well.
 
-Kal- in my opinion, I think you should put the Pokemon's set in the achive, as once this gets clunkered with posted. But you don't have too, just an opinion ^-^
 
hmm, yeah, this is kinda an interesting one, since cb tyrantrum has always been more of a 'means to an end' moreso than most else, but what are ya gonna do.

hc durant + cb tyrantrum is a p.consistent 1-2 punch type of core for bearing in on balance, since they would tend to force similar checks (since, more often than not, teams will just runs 2-3 checks to these 'mons, rather than hard counters, just due to the nature of the two) to come in, and one can rather easily play aggressively to set up the other, as the situation might warrant. most 'defensive' synergies to be had here are much less gainful than one might expect, given that tyrantrum is a rather poor fire resist in this metagame (emboar / camel have a good shot popping it off, doomer / delphox do loads w/their secondary stab and are rarely choiced) and durant takes loads from uninvested moonblasts or what have you, but they still perform nicely on an offensive level, which is primarily what you'd be looking for here i might think
 
I guess this might rise but putting it here anyway.
CB Tyrantrum is a basically a great wallbreaker and fits into the classic steel overload offensive cores. One of my favorite sweepers in the tier who can work with this opening is Mega Abomasnow.

Basically CB Tyrantrum can easily weaken Steelix, Doublade, Bronzong, etc. with its CB Head Smash or even luring them with a coverage move. With these steel types gone or weakened a path is open for SD Mega Snow to sweep easily.

Helps pivot into bulky waters and lure in mons that Tyrantrum can kill and Volt Switch into it. Also helps pivot into Doublade which Tyrantrum tends to have trouble with. Nothing much else to say here

Basically every fast cleaner enjoys having hazard support, accelgor is no exception cause with the aid of hazards it can net some important 2hkos or OHKOs depending on what you want to hit on your team. Omastar has access to all sorts of hazards so it can ease the teambuilding process a lot. Scald cause STAB and can burn, ice beam to protect your hazards from hazard removers like flygon and it can hit noivern. Pretty straightforward. There is also the possibility of 2 partners that set up stealth rock and spikes respectively of course.

Every good cleaner needs a wall breaking friend, so how about Clawitzer? Clawitzer helps to weaken walls such as Registeel for a late game sweep. It also can pressure fire types which are also a problem for Accelgor. In return Accelgor handles grass types like Tangrowth and faster revenge killers.

Jolteon is a very cool partner when paired with Accelgor. Both are lethally fast and deadly special attackers that can work off what one can't kill off. While Jolteon struggles to pass through Cobalion, Mega-Steelix, and Noivern [Lacking HP Ice], Accelgor worries about Alomomola, Rhyperior, and Pelipper; So this core helps eliminate a lot of the offensive and some defensive threats that plague them. The moveset for Jolteon is fairly standard, with the last move being a toss up. Many would choose Signal Beam or Shadow Ball, but with less Psychic-Types in this metagame, it's more optimal to status some common switch-ins. Other then that, the last move really is optimal to your team's playstyle. For other options if you are really worried about Flygon and Noivern you can switch to HP Ice. If you want to make a really neat Volt-Turn core, switch out Sludge Bomb from Accelgor to U-Turn if your team isn't worried about Fairies or Grass-Types.

Cobalion makes a nice double fighting core that can apply a ton of pressure to teams with the threat of setting up. Cobalion threatens Fairy-types with Iron Head while Scrafty threatens Pokemon like Jellicent, Reuniclus, Spiritomb (to an extent), Uxie, and Cofagrigus. Cobalion and Scrafty can also weaken other Fighting resists for each other. Some offensive Pokemon like Scarf Medicham and Noivern can give these two a lot of trouble so that's something to be prepared for.
