Leaving your opponent in good stead is something that is somewhat of an art – some players are abrasive and rude in and during the battle and some people are just plain horrible winners. In this tour the loser of this battle gets the last laugh as they get to ban the winner from using particular Pokémon for the remainder of the tournament.

RULES
1) All tournament Rules apply <Click>
2) All Standard XY OU tiering and clauses apply.
3) Once you've lost the match, post (alongside confirmation) the three Pokémon you intend to ban the victor from using in future rounds. All banned Pokémon must have achieved at least 2.5% usage in the 1760 stats of the most recent usage stat thread. - April Usage Stats Are to be used in Round 1
- In the event your opponent is inactive or fails to give you three (Increased in further rounds) I will randomly ban on their behalf.
4) If something gets banned from Smogon OU during the tournament then the ban will take place in the round after it has been banned from.
5) All bans per player will be put on display in either a google+ doc or in the round thread in hidetags. Any bans I have to make will be posted in the round after thread.
6) No bans in Round 1 n_n

Once you've lost the match. This means that bans would only take place after a match. For there to be no bans round one, that would be after the first round of matches.

I don't think people can ban this round, then.

he lost, posted bans. there are no bans at the beginning of this round (ie you're free to use the pokemon you want for round 1) but the bans that danilo posted will be in effect for soulgazer for the next round. genesisboi7's post implies he should not have posted the bans, and that implication is wrong.

you lose, you post bans for the player you lost to. they come into effect next round. is that hard to understand? it's the whole concept of the tour


edit: yes, i think he was just clarifying that nothing was banned at the beginning of this round, not that you shouldn't post bans when you lose

What the rule said was, "No bans in Round 1". In, meaning during, would state that people wouldn't be able to ban the winner's Pokemon after the first match, methinks. Also, though, it means that during the first round of battles, nothing would be banned. It wouldn't make sense to ban Pokemon before the first battle, of course, so I did not assume for that to be a rule, because nobody has yet lost, so nobody was yet able to ban anything.

For something to be banned, someone must have lost. The first occurrence of a loss would be after the first battle. For there to be a rule against the first bans, it would take place then, wouldn't it?

I hope the OP will clarify this rule. High authority figures are saying that I am wrong, but the rules are a bit vague.

[EDIT]: Or I am reading them wrong. Either way, it is not a huge deal.

[EDIT2]: I think this confusion is coming from the word "bans". Ban is both a verb and noun, so the form of the word used could mean two different things.

Well sorry if I was wrong (which I almost definitely was) I just kind of don't get the point of even writing that rule I guess. Your justification Zebraiken and the use of the word "in" in the rule leads me to believe I was wrong though. Don't be mad though lol it was just a comment.
