Sammy's 2010 VGC Team

displayimage.php

Hey everyone! This is my first RMT for the VGC 2010. I’ve been “stalking” the Smogon forums for a while.
So now I’ll unleash my team I’ve been building with my friends (who will be participating in the VGC as well). Enjoy!

OBAMA_edit.jpg

Name: Evile……………………...……………………….……Name: Snowy
Nature : Adament (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)………….…… Nature : Quiet (-Spd, +Sp.Atk)
Item : King’s Rock ……………………………………….. Item: Lum Berry
Evs : 252 Atk/ 252 Spd/4 hp …………………………Evs: 252SpA/178HP/80Atk
Ability: Inner Focus ………………..…………………...Ability: Snow Warning
~Fake Out ………………………………………………….. .~Ice Shard
~Fling …………………………………………………………...~Blizzard
~Low Kick …………………………………………………… .~Grass Knot
~Night Slash …………………………………………….....~Protect

I choose Abomasnow and Weavile for one purpose: To shutdown popular enemy tactics.

Abomasnow:
...Kyogre will be extremely popular, and Snowy is there just for that reason. Of all the battles I’ve done with my friends, I can ensure a 2 Hit- KO with Snowy alone.
Along with Snowy’s speed (base 60), the Hailstorm will activate instead of Kyogre’s drizzling rain due to Kyogre’s (base 90) speed.

...Not to mention with his low speed, TR will not be a problem for Snowy.

Snowy is carrying a lum berry to wake up after a sleep-inducing move… Which I’m sure is going to be extremely popular (Silly Smergle, dark voids are for Arceus’s!).
Here’s some more information from Misa Campo’s post on how to use Abomasnow (I LOVE YOU):

...Abomasnow is my main answer to Giratina and Rayquaza. Abomasnow is also my answer to opposing Kyogre as well as a final resort against Palkia. Ice Shard allows me to deal with threats effectively should Trick Room be down, but I only use it when one of the foes is dangerously weak to death (around 15-35%) and let hail finish it off. Blizzard is necessary to 2HKO Giratina (1HKO if Kyogre uses it as well). Grass Knot helps against Tyranitar who like to switch in and kill my Blizzard spam....

Weavile:
...is here to Flinch and Flinch again. I’m hoping people are not going to expect another flinch after Fake Out. Low Kick is there for Diagla and heavy pokemon in general.
For example: With Palkia being 740.8lbs, Low Kick will have a power of 120 (the maximum amount of Low Kick’s power).

Counters Against Other Leads:

dpicon248.png
- Abomasnow will use Grass Knot.

dpicon382.png
- Abomasnow will use Grass Knot, repeat and rinse.

dpicon488.png
- Fake Out and Blizzard. Then Fling and Blizzard. Ice Shard if still alive.

dpicon461.png
- Low Kick! Gogo 4x effectiveness

dpicon445.png
- Blizzard. Still alive = Ice Shard.

dpicon487.png
- 2 Blizzards should do the trick.

dpicon483.png
- Low Kick x2.

dpicon214.png
- This guy will cause me some troubles. It's best to switch out after flinching.

dpicon235.png
- Fake Out. Low Kick on next turn. This guy's hazardous if I don't deal with him early on.

dpicon150.png
- Same as Cressila. (Most likely his movesets will include a wide variety of SE attacks. I have to get rid of him ASAP!)

dpicon392.png
- I have to switch out for Mewtwo or Dialga. There's nothing Abomasnow or Weaville can do.

Sweeper:
MEWTWO_EDITDXF.jpg

Name: Tricky
Nature : Modest (-Atk, +Sp.Atk)
Item : Life Orb
Evs : 252 SpA/ 252 Spd/ 6 hp
Ability: Pressure
~Flamethrower
~Thunder
~Blizzard
~Self-Destruct

Mewtwo:
...I’m in love with Tricky! Not only does he NOT have Trick as a move (contrary to the name), he can take down anything!
Flamethrower will always OHKO enemy Abomasnow (It also can hit Shedinja). Thunder is for going against Kyogres. When weavile dies, Blizzard will work very well with Snowy’s hail (boosts ice attacks).

...I use Self-Destruct as a last resort move. But I think this should be switched due to its high prediction rate.

Finisher:
dialga_edit.jpg

Name: DialGaga
Nature : Quiet (-Spd, +Sp.Atk)
Item : Chople Berry
Evs : 252 HP/ 252 SpAtk/ 6 SpDef
Ability: Pressure
~Aura Sphere
~Dragon Pulse
~Flamethrower
~Protect

Dialga:
...My DialGaga works in synergy with my pokemon. IF TR is still up after one of my leads have fainted, I can bring out this bad boy instead of regularly using Mewtwo. Dragon Pulse for other dragon pokemon and a STAB move. I usually use protect when Mewtwo plans to self-destruct.

..My Dialga has a Chople Berry because I can guarantee someone is going to bring out a pokemon with Low Kick on me.

..I am debating whether to keep this pokemon or not.

Thanks for reading! All comments are appreciated

Hehe, I'm going to bump this.

But If there's no replies after this bump, I'll request this thread to be locked. Afterall, if no one can give any advice, the team is good enough.

^-^

Okay, thanks. Haven't played XD in years. I wouldn't of known.

On Topic: This team's great. You have at least 2 turns of Flinch and Abomasnow is beast. Especially countering both highly expected teams.

For Mewtwo, once it's in the red, or so, I'm pretty sure an opponent might figure out what's coming next.

Dialga is slow, but doesn't mean that it can't win it for you. With only 2 weaknesses, bringing it up last when probably the other ubers will come in, I'm pretty sure does it for you.

Though, I did kinda restate most things you've said, doesn't mean it can't boost confidence.

I just have to say watch out for rock slide and fighting attacks, especially with your leads. And nearly all of your team is weak to bug, doesn't mean much, but heracross will destroy your team, especially one like mine. Heracross with rock slide, close combat, and mega horn (rypherior can learn same moves with the exception of hammer arm instead of close combat). There is no one on your team that he can not ohko (trust me I have done it to all of your pokemon you have listed in various battles). Your mewtwo could take care of him fairly easily though unless he is holding a focus sash. Other than that your team looks pretty solid.

Oh, including the Bug part, Fire, will also, ruin your day. Nothing on your team seems to easily take them down, besides the fact, that I don't think that you'll be seeing to many of them though. But an Infernape lead, would suck.

Yeah, I used a team builder to check out my weaknesses. As such, bug will be a problem towards my team.

Hmm.. I wonder what I can do..

Run a physical sweep? Then Stone Edge, which will kill off both Bug and Fire, but... wait, Rock Slide... I don't see how it would fit though...

I don't see a problem, with Flamethrower, if you want more power, then sure fire thing to go for it.

For some reason, Mewtwo looks weird without, Psychic...

..My DialGaga works in synergy with my pokemon. If TR is still up after Abomasnow has fainted, I can bring out this bad boy.

Having a slow bulky pokemon in the end of battle may not be the right idea… However, I might be wrong. Who knows?

right, so which pokemon actually sets up trick room? you shouldnt expect your opponent to do so.

I've got 0 experience when it comes to anything VGC......

But Weavile should have a Jolly nature. It only has 1 attack anyway, and unless changing nature would you lose some kos (i dont think it does) then Jolly will benefit you more as you beat infernape to the fake outs as someone else said they would cause you trouble.etc.

All I could see really.

I have mis-worded my Dialga's summary. That is totally my fault, I'm sorry.

I meant to say IF TR is set up after AbomaSnow fainted, I would bring out Dialga instead of Mewtwo. Which means I'm not relying nor expecting my opponent to use Trick Room.

Thanks Squidd for your comment. You pointed out a problem, and picked a solution for me, which is helpful for me :). I will surely begin breeding a Jolly natured Weavile.... Oh boy :/

I still do not have a counter for a Bug/Fire lead. Hmm..

At the cost of one of his moves... If anything, I guess I could change grass knot for Rock Slide.

My best bet would be to switch pokemon...

*cough cough* or maybe a new pokemon instead of dialga *cough cough*

Hmm, I was thinking... Protect... or Ice Shard. But they both are so important to Abomasnow.

Switching out is probably best. Hmm...

Just switch to Mewtwo or Dialga in that case. Abomasnow couldn't do anything to fire or bug types even if it did have Rock Slide.
