Sand team built off Kabutops.

Kabutops is a pain in the balls to properly set-up, but sweeping with him is just awesome.

I have been testing this team on the DS only, as those games are more "personal" and more memorable.

@ Leftovers
Impish
252 HP / 140 Defense / 116 Special Defense

Earthquake
Ice Fang
Slack Off
Stealth Rock

After a hit from Stealth Rocks and a turn of Sandstorm, a lot of things are exterminated by Kabutops Swords Danced rage. Hippowdon sets up the sand that gives much of my team a defensive boost. Sand and / or Stealth Rocks destroy Focus Sash assbags. I've had Kabutop's sweep been stopped by sashers before, and its no fun.

@ Leftovers
Impish
252 HP / 252 Defense / 6 Special Defense

Toxic
Rest
Knock Off
Encore

Shuckle's defenses in the sand can only be described as titanic. Barring a STAB or Choiced super effective hit, virtually nothing can kill him. Special wall from hell. Encore gives Kabutops a free Swords Dance if I time it right.

@ Choice Band
Adamant
252 HP / 252 Attack / 6 Special Defense

Head Smash
Earthquake
Waterfall
Double Edge

2HKOs things with Head Smash that actually resist it. Deceptively tough, with its Special Defense boosted by Sandstorm and its HP and Defense already very high. I don't know how useful Relicanth is on this team. I love the old fish, but he doesn't help Kabutops much. Usually I turn the fish lose late game, before Kabutops to soften the enemies remaining defenses.

I love the old fish so much, but a Resttalk Regirock might fit here better, to take out DD Salamence and Boah (Focus Punch 4HKOs).

dpmfa130.png
@ Choice Scarf
Adamant
252 Attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP

Waterfall
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Ice Fang

Scarf Gyarados is underestimated. Starmie can't switch in on him if Earthquake and Stone Edge 2HKO. Waterfall brings down Gengar in one hit with Stealth Rock help. SD Lucario can go die if it thinks it will live long enough to Stone Edge me. Counters Infernape since Close Combat and Fire Blast do very little. Even opposing Gyarados get curbstomped by Stone Edge, though it won't KO without Stealth Rocks.

dpmfa121.png
@ Life Orb
Timid
(Standard EVs)

Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Recover
Rapid Spin

Bah. Fuck Surf. Infernape is taken out by MOST of my team. Hippowdon survives Grass Knot, Shuckle Encores and switches, Relicanth has a decent enough shot at survival (They Grass Knot often, even though it doesn't OHKO), Gyarados outright kills it, and Kaputops Aqua Jets. I'd rather have Boltbeam coverage then another Infernape counter. Counters Gyarados, and sort of kills Garchomp. Life Orb improves the damage, 2HKOing Celebi.

dpmfa141.png
@ Mystic Water
Adamant
252 Attack / 164 Speed / 92 HP

Swords Dance
Aqua Jet
Stone Edge
X-Scissor

164 Speed lets it outrun the base 100s if they don't have any Speed EVs. Outruns most Gyarados. 92 HP tries to take advantage of the Sandstorm defense boost, even though it doesn't make much difference. Once Stealth Rocks and the Sand is set up, Kabutops is ready to tear teams apart. SDed Aqua Jet destroys more then you'd think, OHKOing Infernape (lol) and OHKOing Gengar, Weavile and Alakazam with Stealth Rock support. X-Scissor says fuck you Cresselia! It also kills Celebi and Tyranitar.

First off, I'd just like to say I LOVE KABUTOPS and I am thrilled that you're using him. Now, on to business: Relicanth is cool and all, but I think something more defensive could fit in that spot like the Regirock you mentioned or some Jirachi Wish support. I see Boah being a problem for you, but, again, Jirachi can slow him down quite a bit, especially if you run HP Fighting or Drain Punch (owns Blissey's @ss too). Scarfdos has me a little leery, not sure if it's such a good idea, but if it works, whatevah. All in all, a good team, 'bout time Tops gets the respect he deserves.

Jirachi would give me Wish support, and let me counter Starmie.

Wish / Protect / Thunder / Flash Cannon (I have neither HP Fighting or Drain Punch TM).

Flash Cannon breaks his subs anyway.

Thunder on a Sandstorm team? Bad move. Are you sure Flash Cannon breaks T-Tar's subs in Sandstorm? If so, just replace Thunder with T-Bolt or Psychic. FC could also surprise Weavile and weakened Non-Scarf Mamoswine.

Crap you're right. Sand rapes Thunder. Meh, Thunderbolt.

Flash Cannon does break subs. I had a Jirachi do 30-40% to my TTar.

Unless it ran SA EVs. It might have...

In which case, you should run a few SA EVs yourself. You do not want T-Tar setting up in poor Jirachi's face. Go with the Wish-U-Turn set's EVs in the strategydex only Bold over Impish and Attack EVs into S.Atk.

Thunder still has 70% acc in Sandstorm

Really? Well, in that case go with Thunder over T-Bolt only if you feel the need for some Hax-Paralysis.

Thunder still has 70% acc in Sandstorm

Thats what I thought. Serebii said 50%, but I guess its a mistake.

I don't know about Jirachi... I need to still kill Blissey, and Kabutops would be the only thing capable of killing it.

Maybe Leafeon? Wish support, and can Swords Dance, etc.

That, or make Jirachi CM.

Wish / Protect / CM / Flash Cannon

I would say yes to Leafeon if it weren't for the fact that IB on it's pitiful Sp.Def. will do a ton of damage. CM Jirachi could work well. Another CM option could be Espeon. Sub and CM in Blissey's fat face. Or Togekiss with Nasty Plot/Aura Sphere/Wish/Air Slash. NP on the switch-in, but I'm not sure how much a +2 Sp.Atk. Aura Sphere does to Bliss.

Whatever I use in that slot should take out Boah, Blissey, and Starmie.

+6 Flash Cannon hit 252 HP Starmie for 61.11% - 71.60% if I run a neutral nature and no SA EVs.

Blissey takes 35.43% - 41.73% from +6 Flash Cannon. 2HKO with a SD drop. But with 252 SA EVs a +6 Flash Cannon does 44.80% - 52.71%.

Unless I give him Life Orb which would easily 2HKO. So would Metal Coat.

Life Orb would let me use more defensive EVs then just 252 HP, possible shoving some into Special Defense.

I could run Thunder too, since with Zap Plate it 2HKOs Blissey and gives me a chance at stopping Magnezone.

EDIT:

252 HP / 252 Special Defense Jirachi with Wish / Protect / Calm Mind / Flash Cannon seems like it will fit the team, taking out even Magnezone (eventually). I'll probably tweak the EVs, since after a CM Jirachi's Special Defense is overkill. It would be nice to shrug off TTar Focus Punches too.

IMO Kabutops is better suited for rain dance teams. In a sand team, it is just a inferior Relicanth, which you already have anyways.

I was going to say the exact same thing as the above. Sandstream will help more in the tanking for the water/rock types (relicanth, omastar, and kabutops), but relicanth is the best suited for this, by far.

Swift Swim kabutops is so much more effective in sweeping in the rain compared to in sand. For that reason alone, the concept of the team is flawed. The only advantage that sandstorm has over rain in this situation is the fact that your sandstorm is automatic (and permanent), as opposed to rain dance requiring a turn to be initiated.

Yes but as far as i've seen, Rain Dance teams are built around mindless sweeping. I like playing more defensive.

The problem is, its hard to switch Kabutops in without the sand. Rain doesn't really help him much defensively except making his fire resist 8x.

Its also hard to set up the rain.

I'll admit Relicanth has been rediculously strong. He is able to devastate without setup, and its nice 2HKOing stuff that resists me.

CM Jirachi over Kabutops? Meh, i'm not against making a new team.

I just don't see Kabutops as nearly the threat in sand as with Rain. Actually, he does have quite a few opportunities to switch in. With his resistance to normal and flying, he can switch into Choice Banders decently alongside his base 105 defense. With a 4x fire resist already, he can switch in even more often. On Rain Dance teams he works particularly well with Bronzong. Bronzong can set up Rain Dance, Explode, or switchin Kabutops against the probable fire attack, which you now have an 8x resistance to, meaning Swords Dancing and then using the more powerful Waterfall is quite scary. With Swords Dance, Stone Edge, Waterfall, and X-Scissor, you can sweep nearly everything in OU. Your standard physical walls really don't stand a chance. Much like Relicanth, STAB Water and rock attacks really just destroy standard walls, Skarmory and Hippowdon. Relicanth has Head Smash for more damage, but Kabutops can utilize X-Scissor to put a hurting on Celebi.

I see what you are saying about Kabutops and you like playing defensive, but Relicanth is really better at that job.

If you keep the sand, Jirachi could work. I don't like the idea of Flash Cannon however, as you need to hit the pokes that resist sandstorm hard in order to get past them and sweep. I suggest the standard Psychic / HP Fighting / Calm Mind / Wish/Substitute. You will beat Blissey with either Wish or Sub, but Substitute prevents you from being paralyzed which could end your sweep after Blissey and Wish gives more team support.

Jirachi over Kabutops is fine (Though sad...).

The problem is I can't get HP Fighting. Flash Cannon would take down Blissey...

What would you suggest for a Jirachi set without HPs?

Ok, 23 hours and 17 minutes. close enough to 24 hour bump.

I have an idea. I'll replace Relicanth for Metal Sound Magnezone.

AND replace Kabutops for Cacturne. After a SD LO boosted Sucker Punch OHKOs Garchomp!

Sub / Sucker Punch / Focus Punch / Swords Dance

Maybe Dread Plate instead of Life Orb.

you better put in Magnezonge. The SpecsRoserade weakness is killing me!

Seriously, with SR up, every attack is a free kill. Even if it's a SS team, you don't need everything immune to it. Take out relicanth, as Kabutops is the exact same typing and therefore it is a poor choice to have them both on the same team.
