Scarf terra is back!

Hey everyone, this is my 3rd RMT and the last time i posted a team i got some really good advice so i thought i'd try it again with this team.I'm having a bit of trouble with this team and i can't quite figure out what's wrong with it. So if you guys can help me out that would be greatly appreciated. This is my 3rd RMT and the last time i posted a team i got some really good advice so i thought i'd try it again with this team.
P.S: this team isnt centered around torterra, torterra is just the mvp in my eyes.

Torterra@ choice scarf
ability: overgrow
EVs:20 HP / 252 atk/ 236 Spe
modest nature
~ Stealth Rock
~ earthquake
~ rock slide
~ wood hammer

Alright i lead with a scarf torterra, amazing isnt it? No one expects it lol. The moves are basically from the choice band set excluding stealth rock. I know stealth rock on a scarf torterra? No way!! But hey, the last move is a filler anyways so why not stealth rock? set it up right away or mid game, whichever since this thing lasts all game anyways. ALright well the evs; obvious max attack and 236 spe evs with a jolly nature allow it to outspeed positive nature max speed scyther and stone edge for OHKO. The rest of the vs are dumped into HP. EQ, would hammer, and earthquake provide excellent coverage and do pretty good damage.

379.png

registeel@ leftovers
ability: clear body
EVs: 252 HP / 40 atk / 216 spD
careful Nature
~ Curse
~ Iron Head
~ Rest
~ Sleep Talk

This pokemon is pretty much the glue that hlds this team together, it is just awesome swtiching into pokemon and tanking everything to set up some curses for the sweep. The only thing that fucks this pokemon over is crits. I always seem to get hit by a crit when im about to rest. Anyways the evs are to balance the defense and special defense after i start using curse so nothing can take this monster out. Iron head is for stab and has good PP so i can stay in a while or outstall a pokemon i cant take out with rest and sleeptalk. Leftovers is to recover after every turn. What's funny is sometimes recover heals me more than i get hurt that turn. A careful nature to give it a higher special defense.

350.png

milotic@ leftovers
ability:marvel scale
EVs: 248 HP / 252 def / 8 Spe
bold Nature
~ Surf
~ haze
~ Recover
~ toxic
Alright the other defensive pokemon of my defensive core. Registeel and milotic work very well with eachother. This is the bulky water set off of somogon. I tried out the specially defensive milotic but it didnt work for me very well i was always afraid of switching milotic in to physical fire attacks from an arcanine using flareblitz so i switched it back. It still has a good spdef stat even though there is nothing invested in it and the 252 def evs almost even up both stats.

434.png

Mismagius@ choice specs
ability: levitate
EVs: 4Hp /252spatk / 252 spe
timid nature
~ Shadow Ball
~ Hidden Power Fighting
~ Thunderbolt
~ Trick

Alright so this used to be a rotom but then i got to thinking. I was looking for a pokemon that could do everything rotom can do with a choice specs but is stronger and faster. Then i thought of mismagius; she has more spatk and speed so she fit perfectly. Also, i needed another pokemon to switch into fighting attacks aimed at registeel. I use choice specs because no one really expects mismagius to have specs so when the switch in, they get knocked with a choice speced shadow ball or thunderbolt or whichever move i used. Trick is there to fuck up some clefable, chansey or registeel; bascially any stall pokemon that tries to fuck with my team. Timid nature to maximize its speed since it's already powered up by the specs. Not much to explain about the Evs since it's a basic 252/252/4.

470.png

tangrowth @ leftovers
ability: chlorophyll
EVs: / 252 hp / 252 def / 4 spdef
impish nature
~ power whip
~ earthquake
~ synthesis
~ sleep powder

Alright well i was originally using torterra but i got a few suggestions to switch to a defensive tangrowth and it seems to do alright although i have only been using it for a couple battles. Anyways, this is a very defensive set but can still hit pretty hard with a 100 base attack. I would have used special attacking moves but i like to have a balance between physical and special. Max hp and defense to tank pretty much any physical hit unless it's fire. Sleep powder and synthesis to mess up the opponent and heal off after i sleep powder.
59.png

Arcanine@ leftovers
ability: intimidate
EVs:120 hp / 152atk / 236spe
adamant Nature
~ Flare Blitz
~ ExtremeSpeed
~ Morning Sun
~ Will-O-Wisp

The last pokemon is arcanine, This is a great pokemon to use and have on any team. The basic set on smogon so i dont want to get into too much detail. Flashfire over intimidate to take fire attacks aimed at registeel or torterra. Adamant nature for stronger attacks and leftovers for survivability. Morning sun for recovery and flareblitz + extremespeed for the 1 2 punch. WoW to weaken phsyical attackers so registeel can come in and set up a bit easier.

Anyways, thank you for reading and please comment with some advice on what to change. 2 pokemon that i would rather not change would be registeel and torterra.

threat list:

manectric : really messes with this team , i fought a sunny day team and this thing swept 4 pokemon and took me out

blaziken : scarfed mixed blaziken can be a pain in the butt if i dont have milotic

Choice Scarf on Torterra ?

Bad IMO, especially since it can learn Rock Polish.

I suggest either replacing it with an offensive Leafeon or use the Rock Polish set.

If you say that they switch to Houndoom or RK9 after you send out Torterra, Rock Polish in they're face and send them to hell with Earthquake.

Torterra @ Life Orb
252 Atk / Spe / 4 HP
Jolly
- Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Wood Hammer
- Stone Edge

And btw, Venusaur is overused in UU because it's good. :P

I don't really play UU but I'll try my best to rate anyway :)

I think the torterra set your using isn't the most effective one out there why not try the rock polish one, with toterra's resistances it's easy to find places to set up especially late game. I think this is the set (apologies in advance if the ev's and nature are wrong as I've said I don't play much UU ;) )

Torterra @ Life/Leftovers
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
4HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Moveset:-
-Rock Polish
-Wood Hammer/Seed Bomb
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

adamant or jolly, power or speed. again leftovers or life orb, staying power or brute strength and you have a choice between wood hammer and seed bomb as the recoil of wood hammer may be off-putting.
hope I helped (sorry if I didn't :/ )

but anywho good luck with this team in the future ;)

Without Hidden Power Grass on Milotic, you might have problems with some bulky Waters. Namely, SubPunch Azumarill and Toxic/LO Milotic. I recommend replacing Torterra with a Tangrowth, who also helps with your slight Torterra weakness (it can Rock Polish on your Registeel and probably get at least one KO on your team). Set in question is:

Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Relaxed / 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Leaf Storm / Power Whip
-Synthesis
-Earthquake
-Hidden Power Ice / Leech Seed / Sleep Powder

You can then switch from Haze to Toxic on Milotic since you have Feraligatr checked a bit better.

Alternatively, you could use Leafeon, but it's not as good at checking Feraligatr.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Sorry for the delay dude, I second that running Tangrowth or defensive Leafeon can fix your Torterra weakness.

Other than that, it's well made and should cover most threats. Good job.

Hi!
Pretty solid team, good job. I see a huge weakness to SD sceptile though. After a SD it can OHKO the entire team except Torterra, but it cant do anything back to hurt Sceptile and it isnt a good idea to sacrifice your main sweeper. To fix this I suggest as Eo said replacing either Torterra or mismagius with either leafeon or tangrowth.
other than that is seems fine. GL

Hey,

SD Sceptile rips through your team pretty easily, as the most you can muster is a neutral Stone Edge from Torterra. So, the Tangrowth suggested by Eo is a pretty good solution to this problem. Tangrowth is also a great counter to Hitmonlee, who can do a number to this team with CC + Sucker Punch. A good moveset for Tangrowth would be Leaf Storm/HP Ice/Sleep Powder/Synthesis, or you could run a mixed set with Power Whip. Stun Spore is also a pretty good option to catch Fire types such as Moltres and Houndoom on the switch-in.

Specs Mismagius sounds a good idea to try out, but since you have a few problems against stall, I'd suggest trying out a Nasty Plot Taunt Mismagius in its place. This Mismagius rips apart stall with little effort, taunting status, boosting up, and sweeping with unresisted coverage provided by Shadow Ball + HP Fighting. Really, only Spiritomb on a stall team can stop Mismagius, so it'd be a good idea to scout for it first. You could also try Thunderbolt over HP Fighting to avoid dropping a speed point, allowing you to tie with opposing Mismagius and Scyther.

Nice team, and gl!

i tried the tangrowth and i kinda like it, ima test it a bit more. As for the mismagius, i think the specs set works much better since i can deal a huge amount of damage right away which is more damage in 2 turns than nasty plotting then using a move.

I used a very similar team for a while so I can see quite well how your team plays (like the team is almost entirely the same apart from my choice of Grass and Fire type, and your Mismagius and Milotic sets). Firstly, why are you running Stone Edge over Rock Slide on Torterra? Rock Slide gets all the KOes you are wanting with your Rock attack, namely against Scyther and Moltres leads, and will miss half as often. Also obligatory "you can make the most of the flinch rate with your scarf"... but honestly I never found a real use for Stone Edge on scarfTerra.

Powerful special attackers can give your team trouble if your Registeel is weakened or they are at full health, since they will be able to take Registeel out far quicker than it can with its weak Iron Heads. I would suggest you run a specially defensive spread on Arcanine to better take on the likes of Rotom, Manectric, and Alakazam. 248 HP / 232 SpD / 28 Spe with a Careful nature and the same moveset but with Intimidate - it will serve the needs of your team much better, with enough physical bulk in tandem with Intimidate and Will-o-Wisp to still take on all its physical opponents. I love the way this Arcanine lures in Donphan and Rhyperior and cripples them with WoW, making them non-threats for Registeel to set up on. This specially defensive Arcanine also gives you a secondary check for opposing Fire-types, as any team with a plan on using them will have reliable means to dispose of Milotic.

Nitpicks, but your Torterra is listed as having a Modest nature when it should be Jolly, your Tangrowth has a Relaxed nature when it should have Impish (only running physical attacks), and its Wood Hammer should be Power Whip. I'm sure these were just typos, but just in case.

Best of luck with your team :).

very true about those typos i will change them. For the arcanine, i will try it out and see how that goes, but it just makes my team all the more defensive but oh well, thanks :D The only thing is that now venusaur is a real problem for this team

How is it a problem? You have Registeel to take its sleep and set up on any set without Leech Seed or Earthquake, Tangrowth to single handedly take on any physical variant, and specially defensive Arcanine to take like 38% from its LO Sludge Bomb and Morning Sun / Flare Blitz it. I don't think you could be better covered against Venusaur tbh.

Hi, got your pm! Team seems really good just some things I'll throw out there.

If you're sticking on Specs, have you considered HP Ground on Mismagius? HP Ground still hits Registeel / Steelix, but gains coverage on a few threats, most notably Drapion. This allows you to tie with Mismagius that dont run Hp Fighting (and in turn other 105s) and beat ones that do. You do lose some Clefable coverage but I feel like Tricking Clefable is a better option, or just overwhelming it with Arcanine's attacks.

I would try to work HP Ice onto your Tangrowth set for a nice hit on Torterra, but even moreso pure grass types like Sceptile and Leafeon. I think the Leaf Storm / HP Ice / Earthquake / Synthesis set posted by Eo is the best way to do this. Obviously this requires a Relaxed nature. Losing sleep support isnt too big a deal when your team relies more on countering stuff and wearing it down for the eventual Registeel / Arcanine cleanup, so gaining a move for outright countering a whole new set of Pokemon is appreciated.

These are really just small nitpicks. Excellent work on this team, good luck going forward!

Hey, I realise that you are now running a defensive Tangrowth set, I had the exact same Tangrowth on my UU RMT a while back and its really effective at walling physical threats, so don't modify it. With the newly added Tangrowth set you can now afford to change the set on your Milotic to make it more specially defensive. Haze is no longer required as you now have a solid DDferaligatr counter, so you can change it to a status move, namely Toxic so you can stall out opposing bulky waters with toxic+recover.

Without Hidden Power Grass on Milotic, you might have problems with some bulky Waters. Namely, SubPunch Azumarill and Toxic/LO Milotic.
I disagree with Eo Ut Mortus on HP grass as it is no longer necessary since azumarill and feraligatr are taken care of by tangrowth and toxic+life orb milotic is practically set-up bait for registeel, so I suggest you change it to ice beam, so that you will at least be able to hit Venusaur and Torterra switch-ins for good damage. This is the set I am suggesting and will provide your team with a more defensive core.

350.png

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel scale
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SpD
Calm Nature (+SpDef,-Atk)
- Surf
- Ice beam
- Toxic
- Recover

I use this set personally and it can wall special attackers to no end. This set also has fantastic synergy with defensive tangrowth and is quite similar to the skarmbliss combo in OU.

Anyway, apart from that, the rest of your team members are looking really good and all their weaknesses are being covered well by the rest of your team. So, good work and good luck!

God Arikado, in every RMT you steal my words >_<

And why is Torterra modest?

Pretty solid team though. Watch out for fires, especially since Arcanine lacks Flash Fire. Namely houndoom which also rips through mismagius and Arcanine (HP Ground).

If you want to keep Milotic (Really the only thing you have to counter a mixed NP doom) alive, Rest/Sleep Talk activates Marvel scale, making you a huge tank while also raising your defense with MS.

I would use something like this

Milotic @ Leftovers
Calm 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Marvel Scale
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Surf
- Toxic / Haze (you might need it seeing you don't have a back up hazer/phazor)

Good Luck, this is a great team.

hey thanks guys for commenting and the modest on torterra is just a typo from the other lead i used which was a lead nidoking. I definitely want to try out that specially defensive milotic it looks like it would do wonders. Also ive always liked tnagrowth +milotic combo since they have perfect synergy with eachother
