Metagross @ Choice Scarf

252 attack/252 speed

Meteor Mash
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Explosion

I run a dragon team on ShoddyBattle (Otherwise known as Lance - Champion) and I encountered this beast. This guy reaches 358 speed with choice scarf (adamant) and is faster than Jolly Garchomp (333 speed).

Some calculations:

vs Garchomp

Damage: 391 - 460
Damage: 109.52% - 128.85%

vs Salamence

Damage: 449 - 529
Damage: 135.65% - 159.82%
vs Dragonite

Damage: 391 - 460
Damage: 121.05% - 142.41%

This outspeeds all three before a dragon dance. After a dragon dance, he is outsped and killed in one shot - but this metagross is usually switched into, only for them be killed in one shot. Flygon has less special defense than those, so I didn't put him up. Thunder punch kills gyarados in one hit, and Meteor Mash kills Aerodactyl, however you are outsped unless you are jolly.

Sure a lot of people here misunderstand the word "counter" ;/.

It is not a counter because it can't switch into the likes of garchomp and salamence.

not really a counter as it can't switch in safely to any of them. But the dragons can't switch on it either except for Chomp when he is locked on TPunch. You also forgot to mention what nature it should have but Jolly would be the best choice IMO.

So with no HP, you expect to be able to switch in to Earthquakes and Fire Blasts?

A Garchomp EQ is an OHKO. A Salamence CB EQ is an OHKO. A Salamence CS Fire Blast is an OHKO. If Salamence DD's on the switch, he will EQ for the OHKO. How the heck is this a counter?

Why are you guys saying 'dragons can't switch into meta'? Why would you want to? Am I missing somepoint that says Metagross is a counter cause the Dragons can't switch into it?

Anyways, if you're waiting for something to die to bring in Meta, why couldn't you just use Weavile for Dragon revenge killing? Slap CB on it and Jolly and you're faster and have more attack. Still walled by Gyara but w/e.

P.S. That Metagross also seems to lose to Magnezones, other Metagrosses as well as Bronzong. =[
