[OVERVIEW]

Seismitoad provides a lot of utility for teams that appreciate its ability to set up Stealth Rock and provide a useful Water- and Electric-type immunity. Seismitoad can also beat other threats such as Incineroar, Garbodor, and Aerodactyl as well as force out other common entry hazard users such as Rhydon and Steelix. Furthermore, the combination of Substitute and Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple and break past Pokemon like Vaporeon, Blastoise, and Druddigon. However, Seismitoad is extremely reliant on Leftovers to perform all of these roles, which makes it vulnerable to being crippled by Knock Off and status such as Toxic if not utilizing Refresh. While Seismitoad is able to pressure the Ground- and Rock-type entry hazard users, it is unable to punish other entry hazard users such as offensive Druddigon and Mesprit as easily, the former of which can inflict a lot of chip damage with Devastating Drake while the latter can KO Seismitoad with Energy Ball, though Druddigon must be wary of a Scald burn. Seismitoad's 4x weakness to Grass-type coverage leaves it very vulnerable in a tier littered with Grass-types such as Decidueye and Sceptile, which Seismitoad can only punish by crippling them with Toxic. This weakness also leaves Seismitoad unable to handle threats like Delphox and Samurott, which commonly run super effective coverage for it. Seismitoad is forced to mostly run a defensive set because more offensively oriented variants lack the defensive capabilities to pivot into threats like Incineroar and Aerodactyl as easily; however, this can make Seismitoad fairly passive, leaving it unable to set up Stealth Rock against Xatu.

Moves
========

Seismitoad is a decent Stealth Rock user by virtue of its natural bulk and ability to pressure other entry hazard setters in the tier such as Steelix, Garbodor, and Palossand. Scald is the Water-type STAB move of choice due to its decent chance to burn the foe, which can be detrimental to a lot of Pokemon such as Dhelmise and Druddigon. Refresh allows Seismitoad to cure itself of status ailments such as Toxic, which helps improve its longevity. It also allows Seismitoad to pivot into Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon knowing it can stall them out of Toxic PP while absorbing their Water-type STAB moves. Earthquake hits threats like Delphox, Heliolisk, and defensive Garbodor significantly harder than Earth Power would, notably being strong enough to KO Heliolisk. Alternatively, Toxic gives Seismitoad the ability to cripple Pokemon like Slowking, Alolan Exeggutor, and Vaporeon, which fear very little from Seismitoad's STAB moves and don't care about being burned that much, and the latter is immune to Scald due to Water Absorb. Protect can be used over Refresh to allow Seismitoad to scout for coverage options such as Grass-type moves from Pokemon like Delphox and Slowking as well as what Choice item Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Passimian lock themselves into. Protect also allows Seismitoad to get an extra turn of recovery from Leftovers and can rack up a free turn of Toxic damage; however, this comes at the cost of leaving Seismitoad very vulnerable to status like Toxic, preventing it from being able to pivot into Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon.

Set Details
========

The given Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow Seismitoad to outpace Incineroar and Xatu. The rest of the EVs are invested into physical bulk to allow Seismitoad to check Pokemon like Incineroar and Aerodactyl better. Leftovers gives Seismitoad the passive recovery it requires to consistently keep pivoting into these threats. Water Absorb provides Seismitoad with an immunity to Water-type coverage from Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon to potentially provide Seismitoad with another way to recover its health when hit by said coverage. An EV spread of 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe with a Bold nature can be run to give Seismitoad more defensive capabilities that can allow it to pivot into Pokemon like Aerodactyl more easily. The 40 Speed EVs allow Seismitoad to outspeed defensive Garbodor and 2HKO it with Earthquake.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can check and force out like Steelix, Palossand, and Togedemaru, securing a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Seismitoad can use its ability Water Absorb and Refresh to pivot into Pokemon like Vaporeon and defensive Slowking to regain health and potentially put them on a timer with Toxic. You should look to remove Seismitoad's status immediately to prevent it from being worn down too much, especially if it can't find a free opportunity to do so later on. While Seismitoad has a good set of resistances and immunities, it should not switch into some threats like Samurott and Delphox too liberally, as they can easily threaten it with strong or super effective coverage options; they are notably effective users of Grass Knot. Similarly, Seismitoad invites Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile and can only put them on a timer with Toxic before being forced out. However, Seismitoad can limit their switches with Toxic damage in conjunction with Stealth Rock chip damage, especially if utilizing Protect to get more Toxic damage off. Seismitoad is reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery, so it should avoid switching into strong physical attackers like Incineroar and Rhydon too liberally.

Team Options
========

Fire-types like Incineroar, Magmortar, and Delphox work well with Seismitoad thanks to their ability to pressure Grass-types. Incineroar is able to lure in many of its checks like Rhydon and Aerodactyl to potentially pivot out with U-turn and give Seismitoad the free turn to pressure them and set up Stealth Rock. Delphox appreciates these checks being removed too and is able to provide Wish support, which is fantastic due to Seismitoad's reliance on Leftovers. Aerodactyl is another great partner that can threaten the abundance of Grass-types in the tier while also providing a secondary check to Fire-types, which takes some pressure off Seismitoad. In return, Seismitoad is able to take the Water coverage aimed at Aerodactyl and check the bulky Ground-types that Aerodactyl struggles to break. Pursuit users such as Sneasel and the aforementioned Aerodactyl can trap and remove Xatu while also threatening it with their STAB coverage, which gives Seismitoad an easier time to set up Stealth Rock. Entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye works well to prevent Seismitoad from getting worn down easily. These Pokemon can also pressure the bulky Water-types that Seismitoad struggles with such as Slowking, Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad and are capable of acting as effective spinblockers. Poison-types such as Garbodor and Weezing work well with Seismitoad by pressuring Grass-types like Whimsicott, Sceptile, and Dhelmise; additionally, both can act as Toxic absorbers for Seismitoad, and Garbodor is also able to absorb Toxic Spikes, which prevents Seismitoad from having to use Refresh immediately and draining momentum

Moves
========

Substitute provides Seismitoad with a lot more opportunities to use Toxic on faster threats like Sceptile and Decidueye without fearing being KOed in the process. Additionally, Substitute allows Seismitoad to avoid being statused by Toxic from foes such as Vaporeon and Blastoise. Toxic allows Seismitoad to wear down an opposing Pokemon and cripple threats such as Decidueye and Alolan Exeggutor that it otherwise is unable to effectively punish. Scald allows Seismitoad to punish users it can't touch with Toxic, such as Weezing and Golbat; however, it can be counterproductive if it inflicts a burn on an unwanted target like Sceptile, preventing Seismitoad from being able to use Toxic on it. Earthquake allows Seismitoad to remove the likes of Heliolisk and Togedemaru as well as punish Pokemon like Garbodor from setting up entry hazards freely against Seismitoad. Protect is an option to scout for coverage and status while still racking up a turn of Toxic damage. It can also allow Seismitoad to gain a free turn of Leftovers recovery, but Seismitoad has to drop Earthquake leaving it more vulnerable when pressuring threats like Heliolisk.

Set Details
========

The given 232 Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow Seismitoad to outpace Magmortar, Decidueye, and Samurott to effectively rack up multiple turns of Toxic damage with Substitute or potentially put them on a timer as a last-ditch effort and, in the former's case, to remove it with Earthquake. The rest of the EVs are invested into bulk with a Bold nature to allow Seismitoad to still pivot into threats like Incineroar and Aerodactyl. Leftovers is vital for Seismitoad to passively recover its health, especially when it continually reduces its health with Substitute. Water Absorb grants Seismitoad an immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to take advantage of Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad.

Usage Tips
========

While this set can look to pivot into Pokemon it can check like Aerodactyl and Garbodor, its main goal is to spread Toxic to whittle down its switch-ins, so Seismitoad should attempt to come in on a free switch rather than take too much unnecessary damage. It is important for Seismitoad to be behind a Substitute in order to safely get a Toxic off against some of its checks such as Sceptile, Decidueye, and Alolan Exeggutor as well as beat Pokemon like Vaporeon and defensive Druddigon one-on-one, which are unable to break its Substitute or wear down Seismitoad with status like Toxic as a result. Substitute should not be used too liberally, as it is important that Seismitoad conserves enough health to pivot into threats like Aerodactyl, especially with it being reliant on Leftovers as its source of recovery. Seismitoad is also very susceptible to Knock Off for this reason. Status moves such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp similarly hinder Seismitoad's effectiveness, so it should not switch too liberally into common status users. Water Absorb gives Seismitoad the potential to switch into Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad to recover lost health; however, Seismitoad has to be careful of getting poisoned by Toxic in the process.

Team Options
========

Seismitoad beating bulky Water-types is greatly appreciated by Pokemon like Magmortar and Mega Glalie, both of which are unable to effectively break past Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowking without specific coverage moves. In return, Mega Glalie and Magmortar are able to threaten Grass-types, and Mega Glalie can also set up Spikes to stack residual damage with Seismitoad's Toxic. Fire-types like Delphox and Incineroar are great partners, as they can pressure the many Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile that threaten Seismitoad. Delphox also has the ability to greatly improve Seismitoad's longevity through Wish support, especially with it reducing its health with Substitute a lot. Delphox also invites Water- and Rock-types such as Vaporeon and Rhydon, which gives Seismitoad an opportunity to switch in and set up a free Substitute. Defensive Incineroar's access to a slow U-turn combined with its tendency to invite in bulky Ground-types like Rhydon helps Seismitoad secure an opportunity to come in and fire off its STAB coverage or set up a free Substitute. Incineroar also checks the many Grass-types that force out Seismitoad and appreciates Seismitoad's ability to absorb the Water coverage aimed at it in return. Other slow pivots such as Vikavolt and Xatu work well with Seismitoad, as it appreciates the safe switches in. Vikavolt also helps switch into the Grass-types that threaten Seismitoad and retaliate with its Bug-type STAB moves to remove them. Pokemon such as Samurott and Heliolisk appreciate Seismitoad luring in Grass-types like Dhelmise and Decidueye to cripple them with Toxic. Late-game cleaners such as Braviary, Comfey, and Vivillion appreciate Seismitoad's ability to cripple a multitude of Pokemon and remove Pokemon like Rotom and Togedemaru for them to sweep more easily.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An offensive set with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment can be run so Seismitoad can set up Stealth Rock against Xatu by threatening to 2HKO it with a Life Orb-boosted Hydro Pump or OHKO it with Hydro Vortex, as well as luring in and removing Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile with Sludge Wave. Knock Off is an option to cripple and remove items from item-reliant Pokemon like Golbat, Slowking, and opposing Seismitoad. Normalium Z is an option in conjunction with Refresh to provide Seismitoad with a one-time opportunity to recover all of its health. However, most of the time a teammate would prefer the Z-Move more for an offensive purpose. A physically offensive variant of Seismitoad with Stealth Rock is an option to take advantage of its greater Attack stat with coverage options such as Ice Punch and Knock Off. However, Seismitoad lacks a physical Water-type STAB move, meaning it has to rely on its secondary STAB moves and coverage options to break through Ground-types like Palossand and Rhydon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types and Grass-type coverage**: Seismitoad's typing only leaves it with a 4x weakness to Grass, which can leave it open to getting KOed by any Grass coverage. Pokemon such as Samurott and Delphox are common users of Grass Knot, restricting its ability to pivot into them safely. Similarly, Seismitoad invites almost every Grass-type in the tier like Alolan Exeggutor and Dhelmise for free, giving them an opportunity to remove the Stealth Rock it sets or fire off a strong attack.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Seismitoad is unable to safely pivot into threats like Heliolisk and Vikavolt safely due to their extremely high Special Attack, allowing both to 2HKO it, and the latter even commonly carries Energy Ball to remove it. Seismitoad can only safely switch into Heliolisk when it is not Choice locked into Hyper Voice.

**Setup Sweepers**: Setup sweepers like Substitute Braviary, Comfey, and Mismagius are capable of using Seismitoad as setup fodder due to its passivity preventing it from being able to threaten and force them out; however Seismitoad can put them on a timer with Toxic.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Seismitoad provides a lot of utility for teams that appreciate its ability set Stealth Rock and the useful Water- and Electric-immunity it can provide for teammates. Seismitaod can also take on common threats like Incineroar, Garbodor, and Aerodactyl while being able to force out common Stealth Rock users like Rhydon and Steelix.
  • With a Substitute + Toxic variant, Seismitoad is able to beat some specially defensive walls like Drudiggon and Vaporeon one on one.
  • However, Seismitoad is extremely reliant on Leftovers to achieve the role it wants to achieve. Leftovers are its only form of recovery, making it vulnerable to Knock Off users and status if lacking Refresh.
  • Seismitoad has only one weakness which is being 4x weak to Grass-type coverage which can be very detrimental for it, especially in a tier littered with Grass-types. Seismitoad is unable to pressure any of them outside of using Toxic before being forced out each time. Other threats like Delphox commonly run Grass-type coverage making Seismitoad unable to safely switch into them.
  • I'd mention that Seismitoad is forced into running defensive sets because running more offensive-oriented sets leaves Seismitoad vulnerable to threats it would otherwise check.
  • Also, at least briefly mention that while Seismitoad has a great match up against the Ground- and Rock-type Stealth Rock users, it struggles to force out others like Druddigon and Mesprit as easy (I know you mentioned Druddigon, but this is a rather important point to stress, as Seismitoad seems to struggle in match ups that aren't completely in its favor).

  • Seismitoad is a decent Stealth Rock user by virtue of its natural bulk and ability to pressure other hazard setters in the tier such as Steelix, Garbador, and Palossand.
  • Scald is the Water STAB of choice due to it having a decent chance to burn your foe which can be detrimental to a lot of Pokemon like Torterra and Dhelmise as it can cripple their Attack and slowly chip them down thanks to it negating the passive recovery of Leftovers.
  • Refresh allows Seismitoad to cure itself of status ailments such as Toxic, which helps improve its longevity. It allows it to pivot into Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon easily knowing it can stall them out of Toxic while absorbing the only coverage they run being Water STAB. Both can run Ice Beam. I would just reword this point.
  • Earthquake is the Ground STAB Seismitoad runs as it hits threats like Delphox, Heliolisk, and defensive Garbador significantly harder than Earth Power would, even allowing Seismitoad to OHKO Heliolisk without Stealth Rock.
  • Toxic gives the Seismitoad the ability to cripple Pokemon like Slowking, Exeguttor-Alola, and Vaporeon which fear very little from Seismitoad's STABs and don't care being burned that much, the latter being immune to its Water STAB due to Water Absorb. I'd also add that it helps Seismitoad's match up versus the rocker that Seismitoad struggles against, Druddigon.
  • Protect can be used to allow Seismitoad to scout for coverage options such as Grass-type moves aimed at it. Protect also allows Seismitoad to get an extra turn of recovery from Leftovers and can rack up a free turn of Poison Toxic damage. It can also be useful for scouting what Choice locked Pokemon lock themselves into to act accordingly.

  • The given Speed EVs with a Timid nature allows Seismitoad to outpace Incineroar and Xatu.
  • The rest of the EVs are invested into physical bulk to allow Seismitoad to check Pokemon like Incineroar and Aerodactyl better.
  • Leftovers are the most consistent item of choice for Seismitoad, providing it with the vital passive recovery it needs to keep pivoting into these threats.
  • Water Absorb is the best ability for Seismitoad as it grants it an immunity to Water coverage, while potentially providing it with a way to recover its health when hit by said coverage.
  • A spread of 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe with a Bold nature can be run for a more defensive Seismitoad that can pivot into Pokemon like Aerodactyl a lot easier. The 44 Spe EVs allowing it to outspeed defensive Garbador and 2HKO it with Earthquake. You only need 40 Speed EVs to outspeed.
Usage Tips
========

  • Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can hard check like Aerodactyl and Togedemaru to give itself a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Seismitoad can't really safely switch into Aerodactyl as Z-Sky Attack + Earthquake KOs after rocks, even after leftovers. I'd try and find a different example.
  • Seismitoad should also look to pivot into or stay in on other Stealth Rock users like Steelix and Palossand as it forces them out with its STAB coverage and gets the free turn to set up hazards. What STAB in particular? (Its important to specify as Palossand isnt weak to Ground-type attacks. This is more of a nitpick if anything).
  • Seismitoad can use its ability Water Absorb to pivot into Pokemon like Vaporeon, Slowking, and opposing Seismitoad to regain health and potentially put them on a timer with Toxic. Slowking runs Grass Knot coverage on occasion If Seismitoad lacks Toxic it is unable to beat these Pokemon effectively, so doubling is advised to bring in something else to take advantage of the situation.
  • Seismitoad doesn't have to fear much back from some of these users as it can absorb Toxic and proceed to use Refresh to cure its status ailment. You should look to remove status immediately to prevent Seismitoad from getting worn down too much, especially if it can't find a free opportunity to cure its status ailment freely later on.
  • While Water Absorb does give Seismitoad an immunity to Water STAB it shouldn't be done too liberally as it will struggle to pivot into threats like Samurott which can threaten it with strong or super effective coverage.
  • Seismitoad invites in every Grass-type freely, so after putting them on a timer it is important to consider doubling in order to not give up momentum each time Seismitoad comes in. Not really, I mean they are susceptible to Toxic. Seismitoad also gets a free turn to Protect to not only scout versus Pokemon like Choice Specs Sceptile, but it also gets more Toxic damage off. This paired with Stealth Rock can chip some Grass-types down pretty well, allowing them to switch in only a few times. I get what you're trying to put across though, so maybe reword this point to say that Seismitoad cannot 1v1 Grass-types?
  • Seismitoad is very reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery, so it should avoid switching into strong physical threats like Braviary and Medicham too liberally. Seismitoad should also attempt to avoid Knock Off as it will lose the only form of recovery it needs which is vital for it.
  • Many of the tier's threats like Delphox and Samurott carry Grass-type coverage which can remove Seismitoad, so you should be wary of this and scout to see if they are carrying these coverage options.
Team Options

  • Fire-types like Incineroar, Magmortar, and Delphox work well with Seismitoad thanks to their ability to pressure Grass-types.
  • Incineroar is able to lure in many of their checks like Rhydon and Aerodactyl and potentially pivot out with U-turn to give Seismitoad the free turn to pressure them and set up Stealth Rock.
  • Delphox appreciates these checks being removed too, but it can also provide Wish support which is fantastic due to Seismitoad's over-reliance on Leftovers.
  • Aerodactyl is another great partner that can threaten the abundance of Grass-types in the tier, while providing a secondary check to the Fire-types in the tier, taking some pressure off Seismitoad. Aerodactyl has a great wall breaking presence which can allow it to break through specially defensive walls such as Slowking, Vaporeon, and Mega Audino which Seismitoad can't do much against. Aerodactyl also threatens Xatu, which Seismitoad can't easily set Stealth Rock against. In return, Seismitoad is able to take the Water coverage aimed at Aerodactyl and check the bulky Ground-types that Aerodactyl struggles to break.
  • Entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye work well to prevent Seismitoad getting worn down easily. They can also pressure the bulky Water-types that Seismitoad such as Slowking and opposing Seismitoad, which it can't do much against besides status. Also note that these specific examples help keep up Stealth Rock versus Rapid Spinners.
  • Poison-types such as Garbador and Weezing work well with Seismitoad by virtue of them being able to pressure the Grass-types like Whimsicott, Sceptile, and Dhelmise which force out Seismitoad. Both can act as Toxic absorbers for Seismitoad, while Garbador is also able to absorb opposing Toxic Spikes, preventing Seismitoad being crippled and worn down and forced to use Refresh.
  • Pokemon capable of threatening the Dragon-types in the tier such as Mega Glalie and Comfey work fantastically with Seismitoad. Mega Glalie is a great wallbreaker capable of KOing the Dragon-types like Drudiggon and Exeggutor-Alola, while also pressuring the Grass-types which threaten Seismitoad. Comfey can act as a late-game sweeper that is able to pivot into Pokemon like Exeggutor-Alola by virtue of its Fairy typing.

  • Toxic should be used to cripple both offensive and defensive Pokemon by putting them on a timer.
  • This should be used in conjunction with Substitute to beat walls like Blastoise and Vaporeon which are unable to break its Substitute and can avoid their status being Toxic. Substitute also gives it the free turn to reliably Toxic faster threats like Sceptile without fearing being KO'd in the process. Both these bullets imply that they are usage tips. Just reword them to make it seem more like it is just stating what the move does.
  • Scald is the Water STAB of choice that allows Seismitoad to punish users it can't Toxic such as Poison- and Steel-types, but it can have the counter productivity of inflicting a Burn on an unwanted target.
  • Earthquake is the secondary STAB move which allows Seismitoad to remove the likes of Heliolisk and Togedemaru while being able to punish Pokemon like Garbador from setting up hazards freely against Seismitoad.
  • Protect is an option to be able to scout for coverage and status, while still racking up a turn of Toxic damage. It can also allow it to recover a free turn of Leftovers recovery, but Seismitoad has to drop Earthquake, as a result, leaving it more vulnerable with pressuring Pokemon like Heliolisk.
Set Details

  • The given 232 Spe EVs with a Timid nature allow Seismitoad to outpace Magmortar, Decidueye, and Samurott to effectively rack up a few turns of Toxic damage with Substitute and potentially put them on a timer as a last effort or in the case of the former, be removed by Earthquake.
  • The rest of the EVs are invested into bulk with a Bold nature to allow Seismitoad to still pivot into threats like Incineroar.
  • Leftovers are vital for Seismitoad to passively recover its health, especially when it constantly reduces its health with Substitute.
  • Water Absorb grants Seismitoad an immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to take advantage of Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad.
Usage Tips
========

  • This set should still look to pivot into Pokemon it can reliably check like Aerodactyl and Garbodor, but the main premise of the set is to spread Toxic to whittle down its switch ins. Seismitoad should also look to get into a position to get a Toxic off on Pokemon like Slowking and Vaporeon.
  • Between Toxic and Substitute it is able to beat many of the bulky Pokemon like the aforementioned Vaporeon that it wouldn't be able to do otherwise. It is vital that Seismitoad uses Substitute to avoid being status itself, as Toxic shuts down its ability to beat them.
  • It can also allow Seismitoad to drop Pokemon like Incineroar and Magmortar in range of Earthquake after Toxic stalling a few turns instead of risking taking a strong hit in return.
  • Substitute should be used early to get Seismitoad into a position to safely start crippling Pokemon, but it should aim to do it on Pokemon like Rhydon and Steelix which it is able to force out.
  • Many of the tiers Grass-types like Sceptile and Exeggutor-Alola also look to pivot into Seismitoad freely, so it can take advantage of safely putting them on a timer with Toxic.
  • Substitute shouldn't be used too liberally as Seismitoad needs to conserve its health with it being overly reliant on Leftovers. In some scenarios, it is best to predict the switch and Toxic then to preserve health and hide the identity of its set.
  • Seismitoad is very susceptible to Knock Off as it is reliant on Leftovers to recover health after taking a hit or using Substitute. Without Leftovers, it has a fewer amount of times it can afford to Substitute.
  • Status such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp have a similar effect in hindering Seismitoad, so it shouldn't switch too liberally into common status users for this reason.
  • Water Absorb gives Seismitoad the freedom to safely switch into Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad to proceed to break through them with Earth Power, but it still has to fear getting status by Toxic from them.

========
  • Seismitoad being able to beat bulky Water-types is greatly appreciated for Pokemon like Magmortar and Mega Glalie. Both of them being unable to break past Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowking without the appropriate lure sets such as Electrium Z and Freeze Dry. I don't think its fair to say that Magmortar can't break past Vaporeon without Electrium Z but w/e. Mega Glalie and Magmortar are able to threaten the Grass-types in the tier and Mega Glalie can also set up Spikes to stack residual damage with Seismitoads Toxic.
  • Wish support from Pokemon like Delphox and Togedemaru Togedemaru is an unviable wish passer. Eliminate that example. can give Seismitoad an effective way to recover its health, especially with it reducing its longevity with Substitute a lot. Delphox has a more immediate presence to pressure the Grass-types in the tier, but Togedemaru is also able to switch into them while getting off a slow U-turn against the Ground-types it invites in to get Seismitoad in freely.
  • Defensive Incineroar is an amazing partner for Seismitoad thanks to it having access to a slow U-turn. This being effective due to Incineroar usually inviting in bulky Ground-types like Rhydon which Seismitoad can freely use to fire off its STAB coverage or set up a free Substitute. Incineroar also checks the many Grass-types that force out Seismitoad and in return appreciates Seismitoad being able to absorb the Water coverage aimed at it.
  • Other slow pivots such as Vikavolt and Xatu work well with Seismitoad as it appreciates the safe switch in. Vikavolt also helps switch into the Grass-types that threaten Seismitoad and retaliate with its Bug STAB to remove them.
  • Pokemon such as Samurott and Heliolisk appreciate Seismitoad luring in Grass-types like Dhelmise and Decidueye to cripple them with Toxic. Seismitoad can rack up residual damage on these Grass-types so that partners like Samurott and Heliolisk can freely spam their STAB moves.
  • Late game cleaners such as Braviary, Comfey, and Vivillion appreciate Seismitoad's ability to cripple a multitude of Pokemon and remove Pokemon like Rotom and Togedemaru for them to sweep.

Other Options
=============

  • An offensive Seismitoad with a Modest or Timid nature and maximum Special Attack and Speed investment can be run with Hydro Pump and Sludge Wave. This Seismitoad set is able to 2HKO Xatu with a Life Orb or Waterium Z boosted Hydro Pump, Z-Hydro Pump OHKOs allowing it to set up Stealth Rock a lot easier. The Speed allowing Seismitoad outpace Incineroar and Xatu and with a Timid nature: Magmortar, Decidueye, and Samurott to lure and remove them.
  • This set should look to be brought in on a free switch to wallbreak because its lack of defensive investment gives it a harder time switching into Aerodactyl and Incineroar to check them effectively.
  • Knock Off is an option to cripple and remove items from Pokemon like Golbat, Slowking, and opposing Seismitoad which are reliant on their item.
  • Normalium Z is an option in conjunction with Refresh to provide Seismitoad with a one-time opportunity to recover all of its health. However, most of the time a teammate would prefer the Z move more for a more offensive purpose.
  • An offensive Rain sweeper variant with Swift Swim and Rain Dance is an option allowing it to be an effective late-game sweeper, but even with the boost to its Water STAB from Rain it is unable to break through specially defensive Pokemon like Slowking and Mega Audino effectively. This isn't a good enough set for OOs.
  • A physically offensive Stealth Rock Seismitoad is an option to take advantage of its greater Attack stat with coverage options such as Ice Punch and Power-Up Punch to break through conventional checks like Vaporeon, but this makes it more susceptible to Rock Helmet chip from Druddigon, Xatu, and Garbador. Seismitoad also lacks any physical Water STAB moves meaning it has to be reliant on coverage options to handle Ground-types like Palossand and Piloswine.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types and Grass-type coverage**: Seismitoad's typing only leaves it with one weakness being Grass-type, but its 4x weakness to it can leave it getting KO'd by any Grass coverage. Pokemon such as Samurott and Delphox are common users that carry Grass Knot which is able to KO Seismitoad, restricting its ability to pivot into them safely. Seismitoad invites in almost every Grass-type in the tier for free, giving them an opportunity to remove the Stealth Rock it sets or firing off a strong attack. However, these Grass-types have to be wary of being put on a timer by Toxic or getting removed by Sludge Wave on offensive variants.

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types like Exeggutor-Alola and Druddigon can safely pivot into defensive Seismitoad without much fear. Exeggutor-Alola is able to use this free opportunity to start wall breaking, while Druddigon can freely set up Stealth Rock or nuke Seismitoad with a Dragonium Z.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Seismitoad is unable to safely pivot into threats like Heliolisk and Vikavolt safely due to their extremely high Special Attack making it get 2HKO'd by both, the latter commonly carrying Energy Ball to remove it. Seismitoad can only safely switch into Heliolisk knowing it is not Choice locked into Hyper Voice.

**Residual Damage**: Seismitoad is extremely reliant on Leftovers for its source of recovery unless it can safely pivot into a Water-type to recover health via Water Absorb. Seismitoad can easily get worn down by status which counteracts its only form of effective recovery as well as entry hazards limiting the number of times it can safely pivot into the threats it wants to.

Good job, 1/3

It can also be useful for scouting what Choice locked Pokemon lock themselves into to act accordingly.
It would be nice to have actual examples of which Choice locked Pokemon Seismitoad can scout.

Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can check like Aerodactyl and Togedemaru to give itself a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Maybe change example or express it should be careful of aero with Fly Z
This should be used in conjunction with Substitute to beat walls like Blastoise and Vaporeon which are unable to break its Substitute and can avoid their status being Toxic. Substitute also gives it the free turn to reliably Toxic faster threats like Sceptile without fearing being KO'd in the process. Both these bullets imply that they are usage tips. Just reword them to make it seem more like it is just stating what the move does.
Fix this

Water Absorb gives Seismitoad the freedom to safely switch into Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad to proceed to break through them with Earth Power, but it still has to fear getting status by Toxic from them.
It can't really "safely" switch into them as getting hit by Toxic is a possibility that you stated and it would make Seismitoad a lot less effective. Just a nitpick but I don't think this is the right way to say it. I don't understand the mention of Earth Power as it's not in the set.

[OVERVIEW]

Seismitoad provides a lot of utility for teams that appreciate its ability to set up Stealth Rock and provide a useful Water- and Electric-type immunity for its teammates. Seismitoad can also beat other threats such as Incineroar, Garbodor, and Aerodactyl while being able to force out other common entry hazard users such as Rhydon and Steelix. While Seismitoad is able to pressure the Ground- and Rock-type entry hazard users, it is unable to force out other entry hazard users such as Druddigon and Mesprit as easily, leaving it extremely vulnerable to taking a lot of chip damage from a Devastating Drake and Psychic respectively. I don't really agree with Druddigon being particularly hard to threaten given Scald burns fuck it. I'd definitely fix the wording to make it seem less troublesome. Also, specify offensive Druddigon if you're going to note Devastating Drake from it, and move this sentence to the beginning of the list of cons; right now it's located terribly. Seismitoad can also utilize the combination of Substitute and Toxic, which lets Seismitoad to cripple and break past Pokemon like Vaporeon and the aforementioned Druddigon and Mesprit. Yeah you definitely don't beat Mesprit with SubToxic; it just outspeeds and OHKOes you with Energy Ball if you're ever not behind a Substitute. Replace the mention with Blastoise. It runs Refresh yeah, but unless it has Ice Beam it can't touch Seismitoad at all. However, Seismitoad is extremely reliant on Leftovers to perform all of these roles. Leftovers being the only form of recovery Seismitoad has at its disposal, which makes it very vulnerable to being crippled by Knock Off users and status such as Toxic if it is not running Refresh. These two sentences can be combined very easily--do that. Seismitoad only has one weakness, which is being 4x weak to Grass-type coverage; however, this can be very detrimental for Seismitoad as the tier is littered with Grass-types. Seismitoad is unable to pressure any of them outside of using Toxic before inevitably being forced out. Other threats like Delphox commonly run Grass-type coverage making Seismitoad unable to safely switch into them. Yeah, these few sentences can be combined as well into one general thought of how Seismitoad is extremely vulnerable to Grass-types, only really being able to badly poison them with Toxic, and also struggles to check certain Pokemon because of their Grass-type coverage. Seismitoad is also mostly forced to always run a defensive set because more offensively oriented variants lack the defensive capabilities to pivot into threats like Incineroar and Aerodactyl. You can also note passivity issues Seismitoad thus faces, leaving it unable to set Stealth Rock against Xatu.

Moves
========

Seismitoad is a decent Stealth Rock user by virtue of its natural bulk and ability to pressure other entry hazard setters in the tier such as Steelix, Garbador, and Palossand. Scald is the Water-type STAB of choice due to it having a decent chance to burn your foe, which can be detrimental to a lot of Pokemon like Torterra and Dhelmise that do not appreciate having their Attack crippled and being slowly chipped down with it negating the passive recovery of Leftovers. I mean, Dhelmise never runs Leftovers, and both of these Pokemon run Synthesis all the time. Feel like it'd just be better to focus on the threat of a burn. Refresh allows Seismitoad to cure itself of status ailments such as Toxic, which helps improve its longevity. It also allows Seismitoad to pivot into Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon easily knowing it can stall them out of Toxic while absorbing their Water STAB moves. Earthquake is the Ground-type STAB Seismitoad should run, as it hits threats like Delphox, Heliolisk, and defensive Garbador significantly harder than Earth Power would, notably being strong enough to KO Heliolisk. Toxic gives the Seismitoad the ability to cripple Pokemon like Slowking, Exeguttor-Alola, and Vaporeon which fear very little from Seismitoad's STABs and don't care about being burned that much, the latter being immune to its Water STAB due to Water Absorb. Toxic also improves Seismitoad's matchup against Druddigon, a Stealth Rock user it struggles to handle. Again, Scald burns fuck Druddigon hard, and Earthquake is doing a fair chunk to it. I think you're overselling Druddigon's matchup here. Protect can be used to allow Seismitoad to scout for coverage options such as Grass-type moves aimed at it and what Choice locked Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Magmortar lock themselves into and proceed to act accordingly. Choice Specs Magmortar is significantly less common than Z-Move; I am not sure why Passimian is not the mention here. Also, give examples of what you'd scout for Grass-type coverage from. Protect also allows Seismitoad to get an extra turn of recovery from Leftovers and can rack up a free turn of Toxic damage.

Set Details
========

The given Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow Seismitoad to outpace both Incineroar and Xatu. The rest of the EVs are invested into physical bulk to allow Seismitoad to check Pokemon like Incineroar and Aerodactyl better. Leftovers is the best item of choice for Seismitoad, providing Seismitoad with the much needed passive recovery it requires to consistently keep pivoting into these threats. Water Absorb is the best ability for Seismitoad as it grants it an immunity to Water coverage while potentially providing Seismitoad with another way to recover its health when hit by said coverage. An EV spread of 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe with a Bold nature can be run to give Seismitoad more defensive capabilities that can allow it to pivot into Pokemon like Aerodactyl a lot easier. The 40 Spe EVs allow Seismitoad to outspeed defensive Garbador and 2HKO it with Earthquake.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can check like Incineroar and Togedemaru to give itself a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Seismitoad should also look to pivot into or stay in on other Stealth Rock users like Steelix and Palossand as it forces them out with its Water-type STAB coverage and gets a free opportunity to set up hazards. You can just list the entry hazard setters alongside those other Pokemon. Seismitoad can use its ability Water Absorb to pivot into Pokemon like Vaporeon, Slowking, and opposing Seismitoad to regain health and potentially put them on a timer with Toxic, though it must be careful of Slowking not having super-effective coverage in Grass Knot. If Seismitoad lacks Toxic it is unable to beat these Pokemon effectively, so doubling is advised to bring in something else to take advantage of the situation. Specify defensive Slowking, Assault Vest Slowking just clicks Future Sight and Dragon Tail against Seismitoad anyhow. Why are you mentioning other Seismitoad anyhow? Refresh is super duper common. There's probably a better mention. Seismitoad doesn't have to fear their coverage options much and should look to poison them even if it gets poisoned in exchange as it can use Refresh to cure its status ailment. You can probably remove this sentence and just do like "Seismitoad can use Water Absorb and Refresh to pivot into blah" in that one previous sentence. You should look to remove Seismitoad's status immediately to prevent it from being worn down too much, especially if it can't find a free opportunity to cure its status later on. reword this to address my information relocation. While Water Absorb does give Seismitoad an immunity to Water-type coverage it should not be done too liberally as it will struggle to pivot into threats like Samurott which can threaten it with strong or super-effective coverage. Seismitoad invites in Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile and is limited to only being able to put them on a timer with a Toxic before being forced out. However, Seismitoad can limit the number of their switch-ins with Toxic damage in conjunction with Stealth Rock chip, especially if utilizing Protect to get more Toxic damage off. Seismitoad is very reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery, so it should avoid switching into strong physical threats like Braviary and Medicham too liberally. you are never switching into Medicham or Braviary ever; please change the examples. Seismitoad should also attempt to avoid Knock Off as it will lose the only form of recovery it needs which is vital for it. yet you tell me this is an Incineroar check :thinking: Many of the tier's threats like Delphox and Samurott carry Grass-type coverage which can remove Seismitoad, so you should scout to see if they are carrying these potential coverage options. you already talk about being cautious of Samurott in a previous sentence. remove this sentence and restructure that one to address how you can switch into resisted hits as well but expand the bit about coverage to include Pokemon like Delphox, Magmortar, etc.

Team Options
========

Delphox appreciates these checks being removed too while also being able to provide Wish support, which is fantastic due to Seismitoad's over-reliance on Leftovers. eh, I wouldn't call it an overreliance. just saying a reliance on Leftovers is fine. Aerodactyl is another great partner that can threaten the abundance of Grass-types in the tier while also providing a secondary check to the Fire-types in the tier, taking some pressure off Seismitoad. Aerodactyl has a great wall breaking presence, which can allow it to break through specially defensive walls such as Slowking, Vaporeon, and Mega Audino, which Seismitoad can't do much against. eh, this second sentence isn't particularly amazing and is kind of incorrect when it comes to Vaporeon. I'd just remove. Aerodactyl also threatens Xatu, which Seismitoad can't easily set Stealth Rock against. In return, Seismitoad is able to take the Water coverage aimed at Aerodactyl and check the bulky Ground-types that Aerodactyl struggles to break. Entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye work well to prevent Seismitoad from getting worn down easily. They can also pressure the bulky Water-types that Seismitoad struggles with such as Slowking and opposing Seismitoad, which it can't do much against besides status. Blastoise should probably be mentioned as a bulky Water-type that gets threatened by those, especially given it can prevent Seismitoad's Stealth Rock from staying up. These partners are also capable of acting as effective spin blockers, which is amazing for preventing Seismitoad's Stealth Rocks from being removed by the likes of Blastoise. yeah see you mention Blastoise here, so it'd be good to have him listed in that previous list. Poison-types such as Garbador and Weezing work well with Seismitoad by virtue of them being able to pressure the Grass-types like Whimsicott, Sceptile, and Dhelmise which force out Seismitoad. Both can act as Toxic absorbers for Seismitoad while Garbador is also able to absorb opposing Toxic Spikes, preventing Seismitoad being crippled and forced to use Refresh. like I sort of see the idea here about not wanting to be forced into using Refresh, but the point reads so bleh currently. I'd at least reword to say something about Refresh causing Seismitoad to give up momentum. Pokemon capable of threatening the Dragon-types in the tier such as Mega Glalie and Comfey work fantastically with Seismitoad. Mega Glalie is a great wallbreaker capable of KOing the Dragon-types like Drudiggon and Exeggutor-Alola, while also pressuring the Grass-types which threaten Seismitoad. Comfey can act as a late-game sweeper that is able to pivot into Pokemon like Exeggutor-Alola by virtue of its Fairy typing for Seismitoad. I don't think harping particularly hard on Pokemon that take advantage of Dragon-types is particularly necessary. I'd remove these last few sentences.

Toxic allows Seismitoad to wear down an opposing Pokemon and cripple threats such as Decidueye and Exeguttor-Alola that it otherwise is unable to effectively punish. Substitute provides Seismitoad with a lot more opportunities to Toxic faster threats like Sceptile and Whimsicott Whimsicott has Infiltrator as an ability? Substitute doesn't help versus it? without fearing being KO'd in the process. Additionally, Substitute allows Seismitoad to avoid being status by Toxic from foes such as Vaporeon and Blastoise. please make the sentences about Substitute come first. Scald allows Seismitoad to punish users it can't Toxic such as Poison- and Steel-types but it can have the counter-productivity of inflicting a burn on an unwanted target, preventing Seismitoad from using Toxic on them. give some examples of Pokemon you'd look to burn with Scald Earthquake is the secondary STAB move which allows Seismitoad to remove the likes of Heliolisk and Togedemaru while being able to punish Pokemon like Garbador from setting up hazards freely against Seismitoad.
Protect is an option to be able to scout for coverage and status, while still racking up a turn of Toxic damage. It can also allow it to recover a free turn of Leftovers recovery, but Seismitoad has to drop Earthquake, as a result, leaving it more vulnerable with pressuring threats like Heliolisk. why is this sentence randomly separated from the rest of the paragraph

Set Details
========

The given 232 Spe EVs with a Timid nature allow Seismitoad to outpace Magmortar, Decidueye, and Samurott to effectively rack up multiple turns of Toxic damage with Substitute or potentially put them on a timer as a last-ditch effort and in the former's case, remove it with Earthquake. The rest of the EVs are invested into bulk with a Bold nature to allow Seismitoad to still pivot into threats like Incineroar. Aerodactyl can probably get a mention here too. Leftovers are vital for Seismitoad to passively recover its health, especially when it constantly reduces its health with Substitute. Water Absorb grants Seismitoad an immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to take advantage of Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad.

Usage Tips
========

This set should look to pivot into Pokemon it can reliably check like Aerodactyl and Garbodor, but the main premise of the set is to spread Toxic to whittle down its switch-ins, so Seismitoad should attempt to find a safe switch-in to these threats than take too much unnecessary damage. Seismitoad should also look to get into a position to get a Toxic off on Pokemon like Slowking and Vaporeon, as the former can threaten it with coverage while Vaporeon can cripple Seismitoad with a Toxic so it is vital that Seismitoad should be behind a Substitute to avoid being crippled. Between Toxic and Substitute Seismitoad is able to beat many bulky Pokemon one on one, like the aforementioned Vaporeon, that it wouldn't be able to beat otherwise. Substitute can be used to allow Seismitoad to weaken Pokemon like Incineroar and Magmortar in range of Earthquake after Toxic stalling a few turns, thus limiting the need for Seismitoad to take too much unnecessary damage. when would I ever be Toxic stalling either of these..? remove. Substitute should be used early on in a match to get Seismitoad into a position to safely start crippling Pokemon, but it should mainly aim to set up a Substitute on Pokemon like Rhydon and Steelix which it is able to force out. Many of the tiers Grass-types like Sceptile and Exeggutor-Alola also look to pivot into Seismitoad freely, so it can take advantage of Substitute allowing it to safely put them on a timer with Toxic. Substitute shouldn't be used too liberally as Seismitoad needs to conserve its health especially with it being overly reliant on Leftovers. In some scenarios, it is best to predict the incoming switch-in and Toxic them over setting up a Substitute in order to preserve Seismitoad's health and hide the identity of its set. well over half of this usage tips is just talking about when to use Substitute... please condense this information down because right now it drags on forever and ever. Seismitoad is very susceptible to Knock Off as it is reliant on Leftovers to recover health after taking a hit or using Substitute, so losing its item gives Seismitoad a fewer number of opportunities it can use Substitute. Status such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp have a similar effect in hindering Seismitoad, so it shouldn't switch too liberally into common status users for this reason. Water Absorb allows Seismitoad to potentially switch into Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad to recover lost health; however, Seismitoad has to be careful of not getting poisoned by Toxic, which will dwindle the number of opportunities Seismitoad has to pivot into threats and successfully set up Substitute to Toxic stall.

Team Options
========

Seismitoad being able to beat bulky Water-types is greatly appreciated for Pokemon like Magmortar and Mega Glalie. Both of which are unable to effectively break past Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowking without the use of Electrium Z and Freeze Dry respectively. Mega Glalie and Magmortar are able to threaten the Grass-types in the tier and Mega Glalie can also set up Spikes to stack residual damage with Seismitoads Toxic.
Wish support from Pokemon like Delphox can give Seismitoad an effective way to recover its health, especially with it reducing its longevity with Substitute a lot. Delphox can also switch into and remove the Grass-types in the tier like Whimsicott and Sceptile for Seismitoad, as long as the latter lacks Earthquake. Delphox also invites in Water- and Rock-types such as Rhydon and Vaporeon, which Seismitoad appreciates having a switch-in to, to set up a Substitute. it quite literally is only Delphox that you would pair with Seismitoad, but honestly I'd just generalize this to Fire-types and talk about others with it. you talk about Incineroar in the next bit after all. Defensive Incineroar is an amazing partner for Seismitoad thanks to it having access to a slow U-turn. Other slow pivots such as Vikavolt and Xatu work well with Seismitoad as it appreciates the safe switch-in. Vikavolt also helps switch into the Grass-types that threaten Seismitoad and retaliate with its Bug-type STAB to remove them. Pokemon such as Samurott and Heliolisk appreciate Seismitoad luring in Grass-types like Dhelmise and Decidueye to cripple them with Toxic. Seismitoad can rack up residual damage on these Grass-types so that partners like Samurott and Heliolisk can freely spam their STAB moves. this sentence is unnecessary, remove. Late game cleaners such as Braviary, Comfey, and Vivillion appreciate Seismitoad's ability to cripple a multitude of Pokemon and remove Pokemon like Rotom and Togedemaru for them to sweep easier. this feels like a reach, I'll think over whether or not I want it next check.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An offensive Seismitoad with a Modest or Timid nature and maximum Special Attack and Speed investment can be run with Hydro Pump and Sludge Wave. This Seismitoad set is able to 2HKO Xatu with a Life Orb or KO with a Waterium Z boosted Hydro Pump, allowing it to set up Stealth Rock a lot easier. The Speed allowing Seismitoad outpace Incineroar and Xatu and with a Timid nature: Magmortar, Decidueye, and Samurott to lure and remove them. This set should look to be brought in on a free switch-in to wallbreak because its lack of defensive investment gives it a harder time switching into Aerodactyl and Incineroar to check them effectively. you don't need to go this in-depth. Also, please reduce the verbiage here; I can't read this particularly well. Knock Off is an option to cripple and remove items from Pokemon like Golbat, Slowking, and opposing Seismitoad which are reliant on their item. Normalium Z is an option in conjunction with Refresh to provide Seismitoad with a one-time opportunity to recover all of its health. However, most of the time a teammate would prefer the Z move more for a more offensive purpose. A physically offensive Stealth Rock Seismitoad is an option to take advantage of its greater Attack stat with coverage options such as Ice Punch and Power-Up Punch to break through conventional checks like Vaporeon, but this makes it more susceptible to Rock Helmet chip from Druddigon, Xatu, and Garbador. Seismitoad also lacks any physical Water STAB moves meaning it has to be reliant on coverage options to handle Ground-types like Palossand and Piloswine. You are never running Power-Up Punch on Stealth Rock Seismitoad. The set looks something like Stealth Rock / Earthquake / Ice Punch / Knock Off. I'm actually just not sure about any of those examples you gave either regarding Rocky Helmet damage; you're using Earthquake against Garbodor? Druddigon takes a million from Earthquake, so not like you're Ice Punching that either. I don't really get the whole "break through Vaporeon" idea either; I guess that had to do with Power-Up Punch. If you want to talk about a set that can cheese through something like Vaporeon, you could talk about Substitute + Power-Up Punch, although I don't really think this set is worth running over SubToxic.

Checks and Counters
===================

However, these Grass-types have to be wary of being put on a timer by Toxic or getting removed by Sludge Wave on offensive variants. yeah we're not mentioning Sludge Wave in any section other than Other Options.

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types like Exeggutor-Alola and Druddigon can safely pivot into defensive Seismitoad without much fear. Exeggutor-Alola is able to use this free opportunity to start wall breaking, while Druddigon can freely set up Stealth Rock or nuke Seismitoad with a Dragonium Z. you can just move Alolan Exeggutor into the above point, and Druddigon just gets burned by Scald and chipped down by Earthquake. this section as a whole is pretty irrelevant.

Seismitoad can easily get worn down by status which counteracts its only form of effective recovery as well as entry hazards limiting the number of times it can safely pivot into the threats it wants to. but Seismitoad runs Refresh almost all the time? I don't understand how it gets worn down easily by status. I'd just remove this bullet too because it's so bog standard, and Seismitoad doesn't really stand out from other Pokemon as being particularly weak to residual damage.

add a bullet for setup sweepers; Sub BU Braviary literally uses Seismitoad as setup fodder all the time, and other stuff like Comfey and Mismagius even don't care about much other than the relatively uncommon Toxic.

(Seismitoad is getting hit by Energy Ball, not Psychic. Fix the wording to address this.) Seismitoad's 4x weakness to Grass-type coverage leaves it very vulnerable in a tier littered with Grass-types such as Decidueye and Dhelmise, who Seismitoad can only punish by crippling with Toxic. (Seismitoad can burn Dhelmise with Scald though..? Replace with Sceptile.) This weakness also leaves Seismitoad unable to handle threats like Delphox and Samurott, which commonly run super-effective coverage for it.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can check and force out like Steelix, Palossand, and Togedemaru that give itself a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Seismitoad can use its ability Water Absorb and Refresh to pivot into Pokemon like Vaporeon and defensive Slowking to regain health and potentially put them on a timer with Toxic. You should look to remove Seismitoad's status immediately to prevent it from being worn down too much, especially if it can't find a free opportunity to cure its status later on. While Seismitoad has a good set of resistances and immunities it should not switch into some threats like Samurott and Delphox too liberally as they can easily threaten it with strong or super-effective coverage options, most notably both being effective users of Grass Knot. Seismitoad is reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery, so it should avoid switching into strong physical attackers like Incineroar and Rhydon too liberally. Seismitoad should also attempt to avoid Knock Off as it will lose the only form of recovery it has, which can prevent it from effectively checking the threats it needs to. (Honestly I think this last point is poor because you mention several times that Seismitoad should switch into Incineroar, and Incineroar is going to hit it with Knock Off very early on.)

Delphox appreciates these checks being removed too while also being able to provide Wish support, which is fantastic due to Seismitoad's reliance on Leftovers. Aerodactyl is another great partner that can threaten the abundance of Grass-types in the tier while also providing a secondary check to the Fire-types in the tier, taking some pressure off Seismitoad. Aerodactyl also threatens Xatu, which Seismitoad can't easily set Stealth Rock against. (Maybe just make a general point about Pursuit trappers and note how they remove Xatu for Seismitoad.) In return, Seismitoad is able to take the Water coverage aimed at Aerodactyl and check the bulky Ground-types that Aerodactyl struggles to break. Entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye work well to prevent Seismitoad from getting worn down easily. They can also pressure the bulky Water-types that Seismitoad struggles with such as Slowking, Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad, which it can't do much against besides status. These partners are also capable of acting as effective spin blockers, which is amazing for preventing Seismitoad's Stealth Rocks from being removed by the likes of Blastoise. Poison-types such as Garbador and Weezing work well with Seismitoad by virtue of them being able to pressure the Grass-types like Whimsicott, Sceptile, and Dhelmise which force out Seismitoad. Both can act as Toxic absorbers for Seismitoad while Garbador is also able to absorb opposing Toxic Spikes, which prevents Seismitoad from having to use Refresh and draining momentum

Substitute provides Seismitoad with a lot more opportunities to Toxic faster threats like Sceptile without fearing being KO'd in the process. Additionally, Substitute allows Seismitoad to avoid being status by Toxic from foes such as Vaporeon and Blastoise. Toxic allows Seismitoad to wear down an opposing Pokemon and cripple threats such as Decidueye and Exeguttor-Alola that it otherwise is unable to effectively punish. Scald allows Seismitoad to punish users it can't Toxic, such as Weezing and Golbat; however, it can have the counter-productivity of inflicting a burn on an unwanted target like Sceptile, preventing Seismitoad from being able to use Toxic on it. Earthquake is the secondary STAB move which allows Seismitoad to remove the likes of Heliolisk and Togedemaru while being able to punish Pokemon like Garbador from setting up hazards freely against Seismitoad.

Set Details
========

The rest of the EVs are invested into bulk with a Bold nature to allow Seismitoad to still pivot into threats like Incineroar and Aerodactyl.

Usage Tips
========

This set should look to pivot into Pokemon it can reliably check like Aerodactyl and Garbodor, but the main premise of the set is to spread Toxic to whittle down its switch-ins, so Seismitoad should attempt to come in on a free switch-in rather than take too much unnecessary damage. (I don't really know if I'd say this set can reliably check Aerodactyl.. Earthquake into Z-Sky Attack blasts it back without too much chip damage required.) Seismitoad should also look to get into a position to get a Toxic off on Pokemon like Sceptile, Exeggutor-Alola, and Vaporeon as the former two can threaten it with their STAB Grass-type coverage while Vaporeon can cripple Seismitoad with a Toxic, so it is vital that Seismitoad is behind a Substitute to safely punish them and beat the latter one on one. (Please reword this sentence. Something about how it's important to be behind Substitute so Seismitoad can safely cripple certain checks and straight up beat other Pokemon that lack the means to break its Substitute.) The use of Substitute should not be used too liberally as it is important that Seismitoad conserves enough health to pivot into threats like Aerodactyl, especially with it being reliant on Leftovers as its source of recovery. Seismitoad is very susceptible to Knock Off for this reason, so losing its item gives Seismitoad a fewer number of opportunities to use Substitute and check the threats it needs to. Status such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp have a similar effect in hindering Seismitoad's effectiveness, so it should not switch too liberally into common status users for this reason. Water Absorb gives Seismitoad the potential to switch into Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad to recover lost health; however, Seismitoad has to be careful of not getting poisoned by Toxic.

Team Options
========

Fire-types like (No, not Fire-types likes Delphox. Delphox is the only Fire-type that runs Wish.) Delphox can provide Seismitoad with an effective way to recover its health with Wish, especially with it reducing its longevity with Substitute a lot. Defensive Incineroar is another Fire-type that partners well with Seismitoad thanks to it having access to a slow U-turn. Late game cleaners such as Braviary, Comfey, and Vivillion appreciate Seismitoad's ability to cripple a multitude of Pokemon and remove Pokemon like Rotom and Togedemaru for them to sweep easier.

An offensive Seismitoad with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment can be run so that Seismitoad can set up Stealth Rock against Xatu by threatening to 2HKO or KO it with a Life Orb or Waterium Z boosted Hydro Pump respectively and lure in and remove Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile with Sludge Wave. A physically offensive variant of Seismitoad with Stealth Rock is an option to take advantage of its greater Attack stat with coverage options such as Ice Punch and Knock Off. However, Seismitoad lacks a physical Water-type STAB coverage meaning it has to be reliant on coverage options to handle Ground-types like Palossand and Piloswine. (I mean, I wouldn't call Earthquake a coverage option.. it's just a standard STAB move. Find a better mention than Piloswine.)

Checks and Counters
===================

Seismitoad invites in almost every Grass-type in the tier like Exeggutor-Alola and Dhelmise for free, giving them an opportunity to remove the Stealth Rock it sets or firing off a strong attack.

**Setup Sweepers**: Set up users like Substitute Braviary, Comfey, and Mismagius are capable of using Seismitoad as set up fodder due to its passivity preventing it from being able to threaten and force them out. (Should note how none of these particularly want to get caught by Toxic as they switch in.)

Seismitoad's 4x weakness to Grass-type coverage leaves it very vulnerable in a tier littered with Grass-types such as Decidueye and Sceptile, who which Seismitoad can only punish by crippling them with Toxic. This weakness also leaves Seismitoad unable to handle threats like Delphox and Samurott, which commonly run super-(RH)effective coverage for it.

Seismitoad is a decent Stealth Rock user by virtue of its natural bulk and ability to pressure other entry hazard setters in the tier such as Steelix, Garbodor, and Palossand. Scald is the Water-type STAB move of choice due to it having a decent chance to burn your the foe, which can be detrimental to a lot of Pokemon such as Dhelmise and Druddigon that do not appreciate having their Attack crippled. Refresh allows Seismitoad to cure itself of status ailments such as Toxic, which helps improve its longevity. It also allows Seismitoad to pivot into Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon knowing it can stall them out of Toxic PP (I think this is what you mean) while absorbing their Water-type STAB moves. Earthquake is the Ground-type STAB Seismitoad should run, as it hits threats like Delphox, Heliolisk, and defensive Garbodor significantly harder than Earth Power would, notably being strong enough to KO Heliolisk. Toxic gives the Seismitoad the ability to cripple Pokemon like Slowking, Exeguttor-Alola Alolan Exeggutor, and Vaporeon,(AC) which fear very little from Seismitoad's STABs STAB moves and don't care about being burned that much, and the latter being is immune to its Water-type STAB Scald due to Water Absorb. Protect can be used over Refresh to allow Seismitoad to scout for coverage options such as Grass-type moves from Pokemon like Delphox and Slowking,(RC) as well as what Choice locked item Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Passimian lock themselves into. Protect also allows Seismitoad to get an extra turn of recovery from Leftovers and can rack up a free turn of Toxic damage; however, this comes at the cost of Seismitoad being very vulnerable to a status like Toxic, preventing it from being able to pivot into Pokemon like Blastoise and Vaporeon without the use of Refresh.

The given Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow Seismitoad to outpace both Incineroar and Xatu. The rest of the EVs are invested into physical bulk to allow Seismitoad to check Pokemon like Incineroar and Aerodactyl better. Leftovers is the best item of choice for Seismitoad as it provides Seismitoad with the much-(AH)needed passive recovery it requires to consistently keep pivoting into these threats. Water Absorb provides gives (repetition) Seismitoad with the ability to have an immunity to Water-type coverage while potentially providing Seismitoad with another way to recover its health when hit by said coverage. An EV spread of 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe with a Bold nature can be run to give Seismitoad more defensive capabilities that can allow it to pivot into Pokemon like Aerodactyl a lot easier more easily. The 40 Speed EVs allow Seismitoad to outspeed defensive Garbodor and 2HKO it with Earthquake.

Usage Tips

Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can check and force out like Steelix, Palossand, and Togedemaru,(AC) giving Seismitoad that give itself a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. While Seismitoad has a good set of resistances and immunities,(AC) it should not switch into some threats like Samurott and Delphox too liberally,(AC) as they can easily threaten it with strong or super-(RH)effective coverage options,(RC);(SC) they are most notably both being effective users of Grass Knot. Seismitoad invites in Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile and is limited to only being able to put them on a timer with a Toxic before being forced out. However, Seismitoad can limit the number of their switch-ins switches in with Toxic damage in conjunction with Stealth Rock chip damage, especially if utilizing Protect to get more Toxic damage off. Seismitoad is reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery, so it should avoid switching into strong physical attackers like Incineroar and Rhydon too liberally.

The 40 Speed EVs allow Seismitoad to outspeed defensive Garbodor and 2HKO it with Earthquake.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad should aim to switch into Pokemon it can check and force out like Steelix, Palossand, and Togedemaru, giving Seismitoad securing a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Seismitoad can use its ability Water Absorb and Refresh to pivot into Pokemon like Vaporeon and defensive Slowking to regain health and potentially put them on a timer with Toxic. You should look to remove Seismitoad's status immediately to prevent it from being worn down too much, especially if it can't find a free opportunity to cure its status do so later on. While Seismitoad has a good set of resistances and immunities, it should not switch into some threats like Samurott and Delphox too liberally, as they can easily threaten it with strong or super effective coverage options; they are notably effective users of Grass Knot. Similarly, Seismitoad invites Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile and is limited to only being able to can only put them on a timer with Toxic before being forced out. However, Seismitoad can limit the number of their switches in with Toxic damage in conjunction with Stealth Rock chip damage, especially if utilizing Protect to get more Toxic damage off. Seismitoad is reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery, so it should avoid switching into strong physical attackers like Incineroar and Rhydon too liberally.

Team Options
========

Delphox appreciates these checks being removed too while also being and is able to provide Wish support, which is fantastic due to Seismitoad's reliance on Leftovers. Pursuit users such as Sneasel and the aforementioned Aerodactyl are great partners, as they can trap and remove Xatu while also threatening it with their STAB coverage, which gives Seismitoad an easier time to set up Stealth Rock. Entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye work works well to prevent Seismitoad from getting worn down easily. They These Pokemon can also pressure the bulky Water-types that Seismitoad struggles with such as Slowking, Blastoise, (AC) and opposing Seismitoad, which it can't do much against besides status. These partners and are also capable of acting as effective spin blockers, which is amazing for preventing Seismitoad's Stealth Rock from being removed by the likes of Blastoise spinblockers. Poison-types such as Garbodor and Weezing work well with Seismitoad by pressuring Grass-types like Whimsicott, Sceptile, and Dhelmise; (SC) which force out Seismitoad. additionally, both can act as Toxic absorbers for Seismitoad, and Garbodor is also able to absorb Toxic Spikes, which prevents Seismitoad from having to use Refresh immediately and draining momentum

Toxic allows Seismitoad to wear down an opposing Pokemon and cripple threats such as Decidueye and Alolan Exeguttor Exeggutor that it otherwise is unable to effectively punish. Scald allows Seismitoad to punish users it can't touch with Toxic, such as Weezing and Golbat; however, it can be counterproductive if it inflicts a burn on an unwanted target like Sceptile, preventing Seismitoad from being able to use Toxic on it. Earthquake allows Seismitoad to remove the likes of Heliolisk and Togedemaru while being able to as well as punish Pokemon like Garbodor from setting up entry hazards freely against Seismitoad. Protect is an option to be able to scout for coverage and status while still racking up a turn of Toxic damage. It can also allow Seismitoad to gain a free turn of Leftovers recovery, but Seismitoad has to drop Earthquake, (AC) leaving it more vulnerable when pressuring threats like Heliolisk.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

While this set should can (doesn't make sense with the rest otherwise) look to pivot into Pokemon it can check like Aerodactyl and Garbodor, but the its main goal of the set is to spread Toxic to whittle down its switch-ins, so Seismitoad should attempt to come in on a free switch rather than take too much unnecessary damage. Seismitoad is also very susceptible to Knock Off for this reason, so losing its item gives Seismitoad fewer opportunities to use Substitute and check the threats it needs to. Status moves such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp similarly hinder Seismitoad's effectiveness, so it should not switch too liberally into common status users for this reason. Water Absorb gives Seismitoad the potential to switch into Pokemon like Blastoise and opposing Seismitoad to recover lost health; however, Seismitoad has to be careful of not getting poisoned by Toxic in the process.

Team Options
========

Seismitoad beating bulky Water-types is greatly appreciated by Pokemon like Magmortar and Mega Glalie, both of which are unable to effectively break past Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowking without the use of Electrium Z and Freeze-Dry, respectively specific coverage moves. (too specific examples for a broad category) In return, Mega Glalie and Magmortar are able to threaten Grass-types, and Mega Glalie can also set up Spikes to stack residual damage with Seismitoad's Toxic. Fire-types like Delphox and Incineroar are great partners, as they can pressure the many Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile that threaten Seismitoad. Delphox also has the ability to provide Seismitoad with an effective way to recover its health through Wish support, which greatly improves improve Seismitoad's longevity through Wish support, especially with it reducing its health with Substitute a lot. Delphox also invites Water- and Rock-types such as Vaporeon and Rhydon, which gives Seismitoad an opportunity to switch in and set up a free Substitute. Defensive Incineroar's has access to a slow U-turn, which is effective due to Incineroar usually inviting combined with its tendency to invite in bulky Ground-types like Rhydon that helps Seismitoad can use as secure an opportunity to come in and fire off its STAB coverage or set up a free Substitute. Incineroar also checks the many Grass-types that force out Seismitoad and appreciates Seismitoad's ability being able to absorb the Water coverage aimed at it in return. Late-game cleaners such as Braviary, Comfey, and Vivillion appreciate Seismitoad's ability to cripple a multitude of Pokemon and remove Pokemon like Rotom and Togedemaru for them to sweep easier more easily.

Other Options
=============

An offensive Seismitoad set with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment can be run so Seismitoad can set up Stealth Rock against Xatu by threatening to 2HKO it with a Life Orb-boosted Hydro Pump or OHKO it with Hydro Vortex, as well as luring in and removing Grass-types like Whimsicott and Sceptile with Sludge Wave. Knock Off is an option to cripple and remove items from item-reliant Pokemon like Golbat, Slowking, and opposing Seismitoad, which are reliant on their item. However, Seismitoad lacks a physical Water-type STAB move, meaning it has to be reliant rely on its secondary STAB moves and coverage options to break through Ground-types like Palossand and Rhydon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types and Grass-type coverage**: Seismitoad's typing only leaves it with a 4x weakness to Grass, which can leave it open to getting KOed by any Grass coverage. Pokemon such as Samurott and Delphox are common users of Grass Knot, which is able to KO Seismitoad, restricting its ability to pivot into them safely. Similarly, Seismitoad invites almost every Grass-type in the tier like Alolan Exeggutor and Dhelmise for free, giving them an opportunity to remove the Stealth Rock it sets or fire off a strong attack.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Seismitoad is unable to safely pivot into threats like Heliolisk and Vikavolt safely due to their extremely high Special Attack, making it get 2HKOed by both, allowing both to 2HKO it, and the latter of which even commonly carries Energy Ball to remove it. Seismitoad can only safely switch into Heliolisk knowing when it is not Choice locked into Hyper Voice.

**Setup Sweepers**: Setup sweepers like Substitute Braviary, Comfey, and Mismagius are capable of using Seismitoad as setup fodder due to its passivity preventing it from being able to threaten and force them out; (SC) but however, Seismitoad can put them on a timer with Toxic.
