Here's the old grass snake.
![]()
[OVERVIEW]
- Contrary is the biggest thing about it, essentially allowing it to gain a free +2 boost in Special Attack every time it uses its strongest STAB attack, Leaf Storm
- It's pretty fast too, 113 Speed is pretty good and outpaces a good deal of notable threats such as the Mega Diancie, Landorus-I, Gengar, etc.
- Its STAB is pretty decent to handle common Water and Ground-types such as Azumarill, Hippowdon, Tapu Fini, etc.
- Its coverage is lacking but passable
- It's modestly bulky and also has good utility moves such as Glare and Leech Seed that give it some usage in being slightly annoying as well
- It's fast but still slower than other notable threats such as Pheromosa and Tapu Koko, which is disappointing
- Is rather easy to wall with threats such as Heatran and Mega Venusaur, so it needs support to effectively sweep
- Its typing gives it some pretty bad weaknesses and leaves it vulnerable to threats such as Weavile and Pheromosa
- It's also pretty weak without any boosts, its SpA is quite meh
- Because of this, it's far from invincible and needs support to be able to function at its best

Moves
========
point of subseed is to beat things like tran/chans through subseeding, no point in hp ground here
- Substitute is pretty good for dodging status moves such as Toxic, but it also eases prediction against switch-ins and allows Serperior to play a bit more safely against faster threats if need be
- Leech Seed is an annoying move that can drain a bit of HP from the opponent for recovery for Serp mention leech targets
- Leaf Storm is a strong STAB move and it hits hard and gives a boost
- HP Fire is for Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn, also hits bigs like Buzzwole and Pheromosa on a potential switch-in
HP Ground is also good since otherwise Serp can't do anything to HeatranHyper Beam with Normalium Z is a viable option since it can hit a potential Grass switch-in such as Mega Venusaur very hard without the recharge expensethis is supposed to be for the offensive set
Set Details
========
- EV spread allows Serp to survive one Hydro Pump behind a Sub from Rotom-W, otherwise gives it a pretty good Sub number and the rest into Special Attack and Speed
- Contrary is a given, considering that comprises Serperior's niche
- Leftovers provides passive recovery
Usage Tips
========
- This set is meant to be a massive annoyer with its access to Sub and Leech Seed, and high Speed
- With such a set, it can hide behind a Sub and drain little bits of its opponent's HP every turn, giving it decent staying power
- Keep it away from Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss (ie things that block Leech Seed and wall Serp)
- Leaf Storm is a safe move to spam behind a Sub, and with its boosts Serp can become a pretty formidable threat if its counters are removed, so it can sweep well too in the late-game
- Remove all of Serperior's counters as this set functions best late in the game.
Team Options
========
nothing for beating weavile? no general psychic type mentions for venu/amoong?
- Tapu Bulu is a great choice since it provides Grassy Terrain, which is great for Serp to boost the power of Leaf Storm and give it additional passive recovery. It also has offensive sets that can lure in Heatran with Superpower
or Brick Break- Landorus-T is a pretty good partner since it can take on threats such as
M-Scizor(alright abr), Heatran, and to an extent some Pheromosa decently and sets up Rocks and U-turn no mentions of lando baiting in rotom-w like hell?- Fairies such as Togekiss and Azumarill can check Pheromosa and also take on some of Serp's answers such as Mega Venusaur and Heatran, respectively
- Toxapex is also passable since it deals with Pheromosa well mantine too, its also not passive dix v tran.
- Buzzwole is a decent teammate for luring in Heatran and also handling Pheromosa is it really a lure? it sounds like you're advocating fast buzzwole, which loses to phero.
- Tapu Koko is also a workable teammate since it has U-turn/Volt Switch to provide momentum, not to mention it can deal with Tornadus-T, Skarm, Celesteela, and such decently and also has high Speed to revenge kill.
- Heatran can set up Rocks and handle Steel-types and Genesect.
[SET]
name: Offensive

move 2: Hidden Power Fire

Moves
========
hp ground deserves a mention on this set tho
- Leaf Storm is strong, hits hard, good STAB, and boosts SpA via Contrary
- Hidden Power Fire helps with Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and to an extent Amoonguss and Tangrowth
- Glare can paralyze something that switches in to cripple them for the match
- Dragon Pulse is decent because it has good neutral coverage and also hits Dragons such as Latis and Dragonite for extra good damage, though it's relatively weak
- Giga Drain is a decently powerful STAB that works as recovery, works with LO
- Taunt makes Serp into a pretty good stallbreaker by blocking status or recovery moves, and also preventing hazard setup
- Synthesis can work alongside Substitute to keep Serp healthy consistently as reliable recovery
- Knock Off works as a utility move to cripple switch-ins such as Heatran and Dragonite potentially
Set Details
========
- The set invests 8 HP to allow Serperior to survive one Sacred Sword guaranteed from Keldeo even with Rocks taken into account
- The rest is into SpA and Speed so Serp can sweep
- Leftovers can provide passive recovery if needed, but Life Orb provides additional power which can help Serp hit harder, albeit at the cost of recoil. The latter works well with Giga Drain since Giga Drain provides some recovery to compensate
Usage Tips
========
- This set is a late game cleaner first and foremost, so weaken potential counters such as Mega Venusaur, Heatran, and Celesteela before you try sweeping
- With its good Speed and the threat of a Leaf Storm that also functions as a free NP, use Serp to threaten something like Hippowdon, mega Diancie, or Tapu Fini and either kill it off or force it out for a free "boost" opportunity
- Spam Leaf Storm primarily since it hits hard and provides the +2 boost off the bat, Serp is relatively weak without boosts so Leaf Storm should be what you're relying on
- That or you can use Glare as well to potentially cripple something that will switch into Serperior such as?, which gives Serp utility early/mid game with paralysis
Team Options
========
- Tapu Bulu can work as a partner since it provides Grassy Terrain, not to mention BU sets can lure Heatran in and
weaken it with Brick Break, or CB sets can also smash it with Superpower- Landorus-T can take on some of Serps checks such as Heatran and to an extent Pheromosa and set up Rocks and help Serp in with U-turn. It also deals with Scolipede and can check stuff like Buzzwole to some extent as well.
- Buzzwole can take on Pheromosa well, and also lures in Heatran well with Superpower refer to point in the above set about "luring".
- Azelf can also set up Rocks relatively quickly which helps, and it deals with Venusaur and Amoonguss to an extent ???
- Scarf Garchomp can revenge stuff like Pheromosa and to some extent Tornadus-T
- Tapu Koko is also a decent teammate since it handles Tornadus-T, Skarmory, and Celesteela pretty well and also provides momentum.
- Heatran itself is a good teammate since it's reliable at setting up Rocks and handles Celesteela lacking eq, Skarm, Genesect, and such well.

Other Options
========
- This thing's movepool is so laughably small lol
- It learns Synthesis which is good recovery I guess youve mentioned this in moves
- Knock Off isn't a bad move and it's good for knocking items of and crippling threats, while it has good power you also mentioned this in moves, drop the mentions from above
- Leaf Blade WOT
- Oh and I guess it learns Dragon Tail i guess this has some kind of merit on spike stacking but can you highlight that at least
Checks and Counters
========
**Heatran** Heatran completely walls Serperior and can force it out or defeat it with Lava Plume or Fire Blast
**Bulky Grass-types** Bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth can wall Serperior with relative ease and defeat it with Sludge Bomb
**Faster Pokemon** Threats such as Weavile and Tornadus-T can outspeed Serperior and revenge kill it with their STAB moves. more examples
**Bug-types** Pokemon such as Genesect and Pheromosa can revenge kill Serperior or force it out and gain momentum via U-turn
where are fire types?
