Apparently the romanization is Jalorda. OP edit?
Also, I was trying to think of uses for a Coil set. It could certainly have merits as an alternative to Perversity/Contrarian/Antagonist, which we will need especially until the DW Tsutarja is released.

Jalorda @ Leftovers
EVs TBD
-Coil
-Leaf Blade
-Aerial Ace/Dragon Tail
-Toxic/Glare/Leech Seed

Jalorda is gonna have to run from Steels (unless maybe you feel like seeding them). Use Dragon Tail I guess to phaze and spread status or Aerial Ace to handle incoming Grasses. What do you guys think?

Which hidden power type pairs best with Leaf storm? i wanted to run a:

-sub
-seed
-hidden power
-leaf storm

in a nutshell, i like HP rock because you hit jarodas common counters (fire, flying, bug) for super effective damage.

sure you miss out on steel types, but you can still hit scizor, and the other 2 new steel/bug types, and skarmory, for neutral damage.

its also super effective on the new pure ice types that came with this generation (i think theres about 3).

I made a bit of changes to this set, I find Leaf Storm a much better choice over Leaf Blade due to it's ability, Perversity. Energy Ball is there for PP purposes. You can also use Hidden Power [Rock] over the other 2 Hidden Power types. You can use 20 SpD over 20 Def in terms of EVs if you want to be more inclined to taking special hits than physical hits.

I'd prefer HP Rock in that set. I mean, how many Jaroda counters resist both Grass and Rock? I can't come up with anything

magnezone, bronzong, toxicroak and breloom off the top of my head resist both grass/rock and a pure steel type of course.

breloom and toxi could be worn down by perversity leafstorm. especially if they switch into one. possibly 2-3hit ko

That kind of defeats the purpose of a "Coil" build, as Coil boosts attack and defense. Leaf Blade= Physical Stab. And he said without Perversity too.
"Return" for a more damaging attack? Dragon Tail has a negative priority (I think) which could be annoying for a pokemon like Jaroda. Steels can be trapped with Magnezone (or Shanderaa)

Magnezones and Bronzongs can be outstalled with leech seed on that set, so they shouldn't be a problem.
Well, that's assuming Magnezone cant OHKO it(HP fire/ice) and Bronzong won't go boom in its face when you apply seeds.

If you give Jarooda enough bulk Bronzong booming in your face is something you just might be able to survive. Explosion no long halves defense, seriously crippling Explosion =\

im using this set ingame
Snakething@leftovers
Toxic
Leech Seed
Protect
Giga Drain
start of with toxic/leech seed, protect, use toxic/leech seed, and then start using protect and giga drain

Explosion is downright worthless this gen, I don't know why anybody bothers with it anymore.

As for the Coil/Perversity set you do know that using Coil with that ability would LOWER your attack and defense right?

It's still the strongest move in the game. It just has 250 power rather than the godly 500 it used to have.

Also, agree with using Coil with Perversity isn't the best idea. At all. Lowering attack, defense, AND accuracy? No. Just no.

Yeah, but is it worth a whole moveslot just to do ~50% more damage during ONE turn (and possibly even less if your goto stab move would be super effective).

Anyway, it's quite obvious jaroda should be choiced, since the only move that makes it good is leaf storm (imagine if it got overheat too, it would be instant ou). Question is, scarf or specs? People seem to be leaning towards a scarf, and it wouldn't be a bad option

I hope it's alright that I dug this thread up, but I really have to mention how underrated Jalorda is. I'm using this set ATM, and it sweeps teams constantly.

Jalorda@ Leftovers
Ability: Perversity
Nature: Timid (+spe, -atk)
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Spd

Leaf Storm
Hidden Power Water
Giga Drain
Substitute

Seriously.

At 356 speed, smuggy outspeeds a good majority of the metagame. Leftovers and giga drain give you the staying power needed to sweep effectively (think drain punch roobushin of zuruzukin.)

HP water is important. A lot of fire types (heatran) will switch into leaf storm expecting hp fire. The coverage is near unresisted, and I've scored a suprising amount of super effective hits with water. If you can predict well, substitute can save you from unfavourable switchins like shandera, who is OHKOed by +2 hp water.

992 special attack, 356 speed and giga drain all behind a sub is gg. This thing is a huge threat.

EDIT: I've just realized that I should have posted this in the Threats so far thread. Sorry everyone!

To make up for it, I've found max speed (357) hp water: 30/30/30/30/31/31. You can also run 28 hp IVs, which gives you 288 hp (a lefties number) and 69 power hp.

Why would you even want to spend a turn to boost your attack to hit with a physical 75 base power move when you can hit the opponent with a 140 base power move and boost your special attack by 2 levels at the same time?Coil Jaroda is just plain retarted >_>.

So then you're just wide open to other Grass types.

or Dragons.

or Nattorei.

or anything that can resist Water/Grass, really. HP Ground would be better in all situations except for when you're up against the rare Charizard or maybe Balloon holders.

Too many pokes are immune to ground. Is there a better alternative to water? How about electric?

Stuff like nattorei is a problem, but at +6, ja can blow right through most frail resists anyway.

steel resists grass(and has plenty of 4x resists), and there is no hp jaroda can use to get neutral coverage on all steels except fighting. But bug poison and flying resist fighting.

HP Rock seems viable.

Nattorei will just have to get taken out before you think about using this. Steel Trapper Magnezone, anyone?
Edit: Nah actually the Choice Scarfer would be a better team mate as Jaroda is the one who wants to set up. And of course HP Fire is a necessity.

perversity leaf storm can't be used on the same set with coil 'cause if you have perversity then when you use coil your attack, accuracy and defence are going to get lowered by one stage instead of rise 'cause that's what perversity does....

Switching a grass type not named Abomasnow into Jaroda is a really dumb move because it's just asking for it to max Sp.Atk and sweep your team. Even Nattorei falls to a neutral HP after a +4 boost.
Yeah but nattorei can do tons of damage with Gyro Ball or cripple it with T-Wave so its not likely that you get the +4 boost against him IMO Nattorei is one of the best counters to non HP Fire Jaroda the other one being Heatran.

Yep, Nattorei + Heatran beat most of the offensive sets. But I'm telling you people, give the Torment set a chance and test it. All of these so called checks and counters get wrecked.

There's always Magnezone with HP Fire to take care of Nattorei...
Heatran is easily taken down by things like CS Flygon.
Flygon+Jaroda+Magnezone seems like a good offensive/defensive core.
