Shiny Charm and Masuda Method

The no-SC MM rate in XY is already known (IIRC), so why would it be neccessary to conduct research without the charm?

I gather because if the test done WITHOUT shiny charm shows that the MM has higher odds than expected, we can assume that the test WITH the shiny charm likely has a higher rate than in reality also. It just acts to confirm that the research is valid basically

EDIT: Although my understanding of statistics is iffy at best ;)

I'll contribute. I will be breeding a Tepig of my own (ENG) with a JPN Ditto I have obtained.

I will update every 100 eggs. (already at 30)

This was brought up on the page before, and there's now a thread for recording eggs without Shiny Charm as well.

I have a shiny charm and attempting to get a Shiny Cottonee by breeding a Japanese Ditto with a German Whimsicott.

Right now I've hatched up to 100 eggs with 0 shinies, so... I'll pledge up to 2,000 eggs...
Update about every 150 eggs...

1 - 150: Completed
151 - 300: Completed
301 - 450: Completed
451 - 600: Completed
601 - 750: Completed
751 - 900: Completed
900 - 1050: Completed; - Shiny Cottonee obtained at Egg #930.
From 931 - 1,165, I will be breeding a Japanese Ditto with an American Doublade.
1051 - 1200: Completed; - Shiny Honedge obtained at Egg #1,164.
From 1,166 - 1356, I will be breeding a Japanese Ditto with an American Luxray.
1201 - 1350: Completed
1351 - 1500: Completed; - Shiny Shinx obtained at Egg #1,356; Shiny Absol obtained at Egg #1,361
From 1,361 - 1,365, I will be breeding a Japanese Ditto with an American Absol.
From 1,366 - 1,740, I will be breeding a Japanese Ditto with an American Froakie.

Ok so I noticed that previously people were keeping things a bit more organized so I'll edit this to be my main post to update as I go. Got my Shiny Charm last night woo!

Shiny Value: 1211
I won't be making a specific pledge because I do very little but breed anyway.

Female Treecko (ENG) x Male Bulbasaur (JPN) - 60 so far, no luck.

800 eggs and no shiny dragonair. Caught two shiny spinda's from a horde battle and ran away from golden swablu, before this.

I'm debating whether or not to remove Sal from the spreadsheet, since he isn't providing any response here on the thread... I'll give him a few more days, but without anything to validate his data (since it was so sudden) the best thing would be to remove it, as it seems to be invalid data. 4k eggs is a huge number to suddenly appear...

EDIT: Just adapted Mulan15262's extra info (time and extended projection) statistics to the main spreadsheet. Originally found in his small (prototype) spreadsheet dedicated to a similar cause as ours, but only without the shiny charm. I just thought it was interesting info to know. Although it would be appreciated if someone who has more skills in the area of statistics could double check the calcs for us.

You can run this test using the 'accepted value'- the reason you'd run a duplicate test without SC is to show that the results are valid when including standard error. For example, if you noticed a 7% increase in shiny rates when using the SC, you'd want a negative control test to show that Non SC breeding didn't also have by chance a 7% increase.

In reality being off by 5% is accepted in scientific laboratories, so if the result was a small increase ( say to the degree of 5%) it would be hard to show that it actually worked.

Total: 1200 eggs hatched - 2 shinies

301-400: Shiny Swirlix at egg #310 (but it had Sweet Veil so I'll keep trying)

1101-1200: No shiny
1201-1300: Shiny Swirlix at egg #1225 (unburden yay!). Switching to Larvesta

Someone's tampering with my data, they changed my shiny count from 5 to 8. Changing it back now but i guess this is something you all have to look out for.

This is just my opinion, but it could just be more fake/tampered data... Cause besides Sal (Whose shiny count keeps switching between 11 and 9), I haven't seen anyone get an egg count over 3,000 yet.
Then suddenly, BOOM, another 4,000 arrives.

EDIT: Can we add another column so users can add the post number they're using to write down their egg hatching progress from the forums?

You guys should add the amount of eggs hatched and the amount of shinies you've obtained so far to your posts here. You know, just in case data gets tampered with, you'll have another source to compare it with. That's what I'm doing right now with my data (I'm on the breeding with Masuda but no SC thing). Every 100 eggs, I update on the spreadsheet.
