Shiny Charm and Masuda Method

Shouldn't only a few selected people have access to editing the spreadsheet?
Wouldn't that leave room for more error if other people are tampering with the results?

Anyway I've just got my Shiny Charm and thought I'd join in :D
I guess I'll aim for 100 eggs, and update after every 100 eggs or so.

Got my shiny charm yesterday, I'm breeding for shiny fletchling. I'll start off breeding 100 eggs and report back.
1-100: 1 shiny (#49)
101-200: 0
201-300: 0

It happened again! This is the Fifth time I get a shiny at <#100 using a couple with the same species. 3 times for this research (Gligar, mawile and now honedge). I want to believe that not using ditto increase your chances someway, I'm tired of shiny droughts, so I'll be using same species couples for the rest of this research. Some of you may say ditto doesn't affect, but my shiny trend says to me that something is happening there, not just random bad luck with dittos. Besides, 6ivs dittos are all hacked or generated by cheating, I really hate and don't trust that kind of pokemon :p
If this is is the case I'll definitely start trying to get foreign parents- where are you getting yours from?

Past the 75,000 goal; here are some stats:

Hatched: 75199
Shinies: 170

Observed Chance: 170/75119 = 1:442
Actual Chance (th): 9/4096 = 1:456

It would appear as if Shiny Charm gives 3 extra PID re-rolls instead of last gen's 2 (granted MM stayed the same at +5).
This is compounded with the overall doubling of default shiny rates (1/8192 -> 1/4096) to get what we observed!

====================
Only Counting those who have hatched at least X eggs:

Only Counting those who have hatched within a range of (X,Y) eggs:

<300 group might have some people who didn't report their totals back; this rate is way too low! 300<X<1000 had an average rate of 1:490 which averaged the 0<X<1000 rate to 1:440. For those who hatched more than 1000 eggs, they got a rate of 1:443 which is essentially the same as those who hatched less than 1000!

Since the observed rate is lower than the believed rate of 9/4096, it's highly probable that there is some influence of unlucky users not reporting back unless they get shinies. Some users might stop halfway through their pledge and do something else instead. So that could explain why.

Now that you guys successfully finished this research, can I suggest testing the truth behind the Tipping Myth? You know...they say that if you tip npc's (especially the wandering poet), your chance of getting a shiny Pokémon increases. Just a suggestion.

After 1200 Riolu eggs with no shiny since the 17th egg when I was still trying to get a perfect IV mother, I'm moving onto Ralts for now. I updated my post on page 5 and also updated the spreadsheet goal to 100,000 since we hit 75,000 at some point tonight. Yay us!

Im leaving the first 100 eggs at my pc =)

so far this is what I have

MM Shiny Buneary

1-100/100 Eggs hatched 0 shinies
2-100/100 Eggs Hatched 0 Shinies

I don't have the shiny charm but I did the matsuda method and breed 5 shinies, charmander, axew, eevee, honedge, Rio lu and that was all before 1000 eggs but ever since then I haven't bred another shiny pokemon and I'm on 1875 eggs all together. I think it's just all luck no matter what.

I finally got the Shiny Charm so I will contribute when I can. I hatched 20 yesterday with a Spanish Ditto with no success. I will add my contributions to the spread sheet.

it is all luck. certain things just increase your chances. never guaranteed.
