should I go for a third spheal

If I successfully get my first ever three-peat, will that be worthy enough of changing my mascot?

  • It’s a good idea but what did Pichu do to deserve this!?

Alright, so it’s late at night and since I don’t want to go to bed, I’ve been posting in Smogoff and I wanted to run an idea by you guys. So, here’s the scoop.

:bw/spheal: :bw/spheal: :bw/seel:

Hmm… something doesn’t seem right here. Can’t quite put my finger on it, though. So, you see these three Spheal? In the 2015 Nintendo 3DS spin-off game Pokémon Rumble World, this game… sucks. I’m not going to try and gaslight you into thinking otherwise. However, there is one sole reason why I even played this game for as long as I have, and this reason is pretty epic. No, literally, they’re called Epic Pokémon, and they’re unironically my favorite part about any of the Pokémon Rumble games. Somewhat infamously, only the original WiiWare game has random Shiny Pokémon in it (side note, that game would feed families on Switch Online) but what a lot of people might not know is that the 3DS games both had a psuedo-replacement for Shiny Pokémon with the games’ rarest Special Trait.

I’ve found almost 40 of these things across multiple save files of both games but only Rumble World lets you have multiple in your inventory at the same time. We do not discuss my generational crash-out back in August that almost resulted in me leaving our community permanently. All you need to know is that during the 2020s I’ve gained somewhat of an affinity for Spheal, in large part because Spheal is one of only two Pokémon I’ve found two separate Epics of and the only duplicate on my “newest” and current main save.

As you can see in the sprites above, I’ve recently come across a third Spheal, but like I said, something doesn’t seem quite right with it. It says here I actually have an “Epic Seel” instead that was found in between the other two Spheals, so now I leave the question in your hands. Seel and Spheal can spawn in some of the same stages, to the best of my memory, so is it worth it for me to start a hunt for a third- sorry, fourth Spheal knowing full well I could phase on this sussy impostor?

Disclaimer: I have nothing against Seel, Dewgong, the Johto Gym Leader Pryce or the people that designed those Pokémon or that character. Seel and Dewgong are recognized trademarks of The Pokémon Company International and I do not own them.

99% of rumble players quit before they get the 3rd epic spheal
You know what? Just for you, I am unironically going to also going to add Furret to my target list. It’s not too hard of a target to find, and I also want to see someone recreate the Furret Walk using the Rumble models.

Oh, also, just before I forget- if anyone’s curious I don’t have any three-peats on Shinies either; the closest I’ve ever gotten was three Shiny Ponyta in Legends Arceus but I don’t count this on account of one of them being the guaranteed Shiny. I also found two out of the three Shiny Espeon that spawned during a late night Shiny Hunt session in 2023 in Scarlet & Violet honoring my original completed hunt for an Epic boss Pokémon on August 7th, 2019. The other person that wanted to play with me found the other one before me and we each wanted at least one to keep.
