Shuppet (Analysis) (Placeholder)

[Overview]

Shuppet may have the highest attack stat of any Ghost types in Little cup, but it gets crippled by the fact that is has a very shallow physical movepool with the best STAB move being Shadow Sneak. But on the other hand it also gets very low speed which is good for Trick Room and an above average special attack stat. Sadly it's typing and lackluster defences make Shuppet a quick snack for any decent Dark type. But Shuppet can still be an absolute beast against unexpecting teams and can fill a niche in most Trick Room teams.

[SET]
Trick Room Suicide Lead
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Destiny Bond
move 3: Shadow Sneak / Sucker Punch
move 4: Will o wisp / Toxic
nature: Brave
item: Focus Sash

[Set Comments]

- What does it look like
- Able to cripple pokes from the start

[Additional Comments]

- Pursuit can be used, but the set is for 'suiciding' not killing at the start of the match.

[Set]
name: Trick Room Physical Sweeper
move 1: Trick Room / Substitute / Curse
move 2: Shadow Sneak / Sucker Punch
move 3: Double-edge / Return / Pain Split
move 4: Gunk Shot
item: Life Orb
ability: Insomnia
nature: Brave
evs: 244 HP / 236 Atk / 12 SDef
ivs: 0-9 Spe

[Set Comments]

- Uses Shuppets low speed to it's advantage
- You dont have to set up Trick Room that's why the other moves are there
- This is honestly it's physical movepool.
- The ev spread maximizes it's attack stat while adding some 'bulk'.
- To sustain the lowest speed posibble you cant have more than 9 speed IV's

[Additional Comments]

- Pursuit maybe......

[Other Options]

[Checks and Counters]

- Super Effective damage / outspeeding
- Scraggy can outspeed (outside of Trick Room obviously) and hit super effectively and take one hit

[Dream World]

Cursed Body hasn't been released yet.

Why would you have both Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch on the same set? Sucker Punch / Shadow Sneak is how it would be. Its physical move-set is also lackluster. I would recommended replacing that set as Steel types cannot be touched.

If you're in Trick Room, running TWO priority moves is insane. Also, running bulk is useless if your using Trick Room AND priority moves.

Trick Room Lead:

Shuppet@Focus Sash
4 HP / 236 Atk / 252 SpA / 12 SpD

-Trick Room
-Sucker Punch / Shadow Sneak
-Destiny Bond
-Hidden Power Ice / Thunderbolt

is far more useful, as it works as a lead and can usually take out one or two pokemon quickly at the start of a match. Shuppet has neither the stats nor the movepool to sweep, especially when he has only 5 turns to do so because of Trick Room.

@masterful It's just that there isn't much that Shuppet can do from the physical side so there wasn't much you could do outside of using Sucker punch, Shadow sneak and Double-edge
I do know that it gets a lot more on the special side, i'll try your set Masterful. Also i changed the set a little + added Gunk Shot

Then why is it called "Trick Room Physical Sweeper" if you do not have to set up Trick Room? Having another Pokemon set up Trick Room and switching wastes 2 turns instead of 1. Shuppet is too frail to effectively use Curse and will most likely end up dead if it uses it. It is also too slow to set up a substitute. It also gets Pursuit for fleeing Ghosts/Psychics.

By the way, it can still use Special Attacks to some effect as base 63 is not much lower than base 75 Attack. Its special moveset is almost as shallow as its physical however.

There is always:
Trick Room Suicide Lead
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Destiny Bond
move 3: Shadow Sneak / Sucker Punch
move 4: Will o wisp / Toxic
nature: Brave
item: Focus Sash

This helps support a trick room team if you are lucky to get this to work. If you know they won't attack, just Will o wisp or Toxic them. If you know they will, Destiny Bond.

Come on now it's not always needed to set Trick Room yourself is it? (atleast not for me)

Im still testing it, but PO likes crashing on me. I'll add it tomorrow after i play a little more with it

@Darkamber It works for me atleast..... maybe i'm just lucky

I actually like that one more, since Gligar hates both status and Shuppet isn't supposed to be attacking, really. The two sets are practically identical except for the last slot (which is filler), and therefore the evs. What I prefer about the one above is that you don't need to run evs in SpA, so you can allocate them in bulk.

I was just saying a supporter shuppet is better than an offensive shuppet. Which should probably go in OC.

Yes, I think this section needs a bit of expanding.

Mention teammates in AC, ones that can abuse TR, like Munchlax, Clamperl, Cubone, etc. If you MUST have that physical sweeper set (have you tested it I'm pretty doubtful it will work at all), unslash Curse and Substitute. And probably Pain Split. They are options Shuppet cannot use, because they do not kill things, and are therefore a waste of TR turns.

Also, I like the Scarf set. The support set and the Sub+Three Attacks can go in OC. It gets Natural Gift, Imprison, Grudge, and Psychic.
