Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Time for "FIND THE STUPID!!!"

Let's see:
  • Starmie using Hydro Pump while Desolate Land is active.
  • Non-Prankster Sableye.
  • Regigigas at all. With Power-up Punch, too.
  • Slaking at all.
Let me know if there's anything else I missed.

★Treeboy71: I just realized I put thunder wave on an assault vest pokemon
That, and his team's nicknames appear to be their abilities. Which means Illuminate Starmie and Run Away Dodrio (not to mention Dodrio in the first place).

Edit:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341746468
Blizzard Suicune, TrickScarf Espeon, and that's only the beginning. Someone else, please?
Itemless Suicune, Dialga, and Palkia.
Purugly, although it did not actually appear in battle.
Giga Impact+Hyper Beam+Psystrike MMX.
Draco Meteor+Dragon Pulse Latios, spamming the former despite the constant SpA drops.
Psychic+Dragon Claw+Aura Sphere Giratina-O.
Focus Blast Palkia (uh, better than Aura Sphere, I guess...?)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341842917
Toxic + Venoshock Scolipede. Also some other silly things like Sand Attack + Confuse Ray Umbreon and Power-Up Punch Greninja (is that a thing?), but mostly Toxic + Venoshock Scolipede.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341846002
(L) Lead Smeargle that does nothing but spam Superpower off a powerful 20 Attack stat. I can understand having Superpower on Smeargle given what the rest of the team is, but why actually use it?
(L) Everything besides Smeargle seems to be Contrary Assist Spinda. That really isn't a good gimmick so stop using it
(R) Ambipom. Not to mention, its set seems to be Fake Out/Taunt/Baton Pass/...Fury Swipes? Fury Swipes is still weaker than Return after Skill Link jsyk
(R) Gyarados is running Return. Normal has nice neutral coverage, but most of the time you'd be better off running something that hits something super-effectively instead.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341848266
Left seems to have a team composed only of Mightyena/Emolga/Wigglytuff/Durant. Maybe they just really like those Pokémon? (Also, forfeit at the end of the first turn after the opposing Mega-Ray OHKOs Wigglytuff.)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341848117
M-Aero sweeps a mono Pikachu-Cosplay team.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341848173
Nothing too silly here, except for the fact that Left's Mega-Blaziken is running Brick Break and Acrobatics when HJK and Brave Bird exist, respectively and Right's Shuckle attempts to use Toxic five times in a row against a foe with a substitute (while allowing Scolipede to get set-up unhindered). Okay, yeah, that was pretty silly.

edit: wait I just realized Scolipede is immune to Toxic now it's even sillier

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341851082
Mono Pikachu-Cosplay has a Raichu on it now, for some reason.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-341851811
(R) Groudon-Primal spamming Double-Edge until its health is below half, then using Eruption. That makes sense.
(L) Normal Charizard. It's running Fire Blast + Fire Fang, too. c'mon if you want to run two STABs at least do Fire Blast + Flare Blitz
(L) Darmanitan using Fire Fang against Kyogre-Primal. Darmanitan in general in AG, for that matter.
(L) Garchomp spamming Draco Meteor even after its Special Attack is already weakened to the point of unusability.
(R) Kyogre-Primal Hyper Beam. I think Origin Pulse would have KO'd but w/e
(L) Haxorus using Earthquake against M-Rayquaza. Same thing I said about Darmanitan.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-342245802
Apparently, left has no idea on how Wonder Guard works. Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt / Signal Beam CM Lugia (where is Roost?) would have already ended that Shedinja sweep on turn 9. Also a Ninjask in that BP team when Scolipede exists.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-342248165
This time, left's problem is Gengar hidden behind a simple Substitute. List of attacks thrown at it:
  • Ferrothorn's Leech Seed, followed by Flash Cannon (nice 54 base SpA) which doesn't break it, and Explosion
  • Darkrai's Dark Void, which reveals the (highly predictable) Dream Eater / Nightmare combo, with Poison Jab as the last move
That Darkrai then proceeds to sweep the rest.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-342248175
That forfeit happened too early. What could hide besides that Dazzling Gleam Mega Gardevoir? (Hyper Voice, anyone?) Also, bringing in a slow Salamence (non Mega'd or maybe just lost the speed tie) when you have Scizor to revenge kill Gardevoir.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-342248192
Shadow Ball Vullaby (Vullaby at all), Dig (intentionally used on that Vullaby) + Camouflage Zygarde and the worst of all... ABSORB + MEGA DRAIN Mega Sceptile.

Anna says hi's team:Whimsicott / Garchomp / Thundurus-Therian / Charizard
Rumplestiltskin's team:Swoobat / Hawlucha
★Anna says hi: im interested to see what gimmick you have this time
Battle between Rumplestiltskin and Anna says hi started!

Rumplestiltskin sent out Swoobat!

Rumplestiltskin sent out Hawlucha!

Go! Whimsicott!

Go! Thundurus (Thundurus-Therian)!
Turn 1
★Anna says hi: is it fling + salac berry + weakness policy?
★Rumplestiltskin: maybe

Whimsicott used Helping Hand!
Whimsicott is ready to help Thundurus!

The opposing Hawlucha used Fling!
The opposing Hawlucha flung its Salac Berry!
It's super effective! The opposing Swoobat lost 7% of its health!
The opposing Swoobat's Speed rose sharply!
The opposing Swoobat's Weakness Policy activated!
The opposing Swoobat's Attack rose drastically! The opposing Swoobat's Special Attack rose drastically!

The opposing Swoobat used Stored Power!
Thundurus lost 100% of its health!

Thundurus fainted!
Turn 2

Haxorus and Sneasel vs. 6 Unown. To make this already short battle even shorter, Haxorus had Outrage.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-343159700
Charizard-Y with Drought and what I'm assuming to be 4 Fire moves, although the only ones it used were Fusion Flare and Sacred Fire. There was also a Land's Wrath Mega Rayquaza, when you can use Thousand Arrows or Precipice Blades for generally better results.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-343165256
Two Ninjask (when Scolipede exists), one of them with Return.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-343165614
Dragon Tail+Dragon Claw+Dragon Pulse+Body Slam (all against Mega Altaria) normal Groudon, Brick Break Registeel, normal Kyogre, and normal Rayquaza.

You know, if you're going to run a Fire mono, it helps to have something to get rid of Stealth Rock. This is also why many Fire monos run Torkoal.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-343163417
Odd team from an earlier replay gets another win, despite having Ferrothorn use Gyro Ball on -4 Curselax, but with Final Gambit Accelgor ultimately leading to his opponent's demise.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-343173450
A team of 3 level 50 mons vs. a team of 4 baby mons plus two other base stages, all six of those with Metronome. And then choice locked Roost new meta.

Destiny Bond does not work in 1v1. That is all.

The infamous non-mega Charizard (again) with Rock Tomb (for a change), and much, much more.
Oh, this is a good one!
  • (L) Sky Uppercut Breloom. Great move for in-game, not so much here. Also using it on a Corsola when it could use Grass STAB and wipe it out. Also, may I recommend Technician Force Palm? Slightly more powerful, won't miss, and has a neat paralysis chance to boot.
  • (R) Corsola staying in, unless it was Sashed or something. But I doubt that, and that's generally not a good idea anyway because Bullet Seed.
  • (R) Ferrothorn switches into a Sky Uppercut, then stays in again, when a switchin does exist in the form of Leavanny. Ferro does dodge the SU to successfully Toxic. Now Leavanny comes in.
  • (L) Loom uses Leech Seed on Leavanny, and then faints. In comes Dragonite, good move...
  • (L)...which is mixed, with Ice Beam/Flamethrower/EQ. Poor Ferro gets caught out. (Okay, this has to be an in-game team.)
  • (R) Corsola has Ancient Power, when it does get Power Gem.
  • (L) Outrage Xerneas. Outrage Xerneas actually gets something going. Yikes.

Also:

  • (L) Inner Focus Dragonite, which actually turned out to be useful against the gimmicky
  • (R) Fake Out+Last Resort Ambipom, which worked well because left had no normal resists
  • (R) Swellow using Heat Wave on Gliscor. I kind of understand it having Heat Wave on its moveset - despite the 50 SpA stat, it has nothing else to hit Steel types. But using it on something that Boomburst hits neutrally...
  • (L) Ice Punch non-mega Mewtwo.

And more things I noticed watching the replay again:

  • (L) Gliscor without Poison Heal.
  • (L) Switching out Charizard while it's at 29%, rocks are up, and you have no hazard removal.
  • (L) Dragonite and Mewtwo did not have items.

This match though...
(L) Specially based Ariados with Sludge Bomb + Hyper Beam.
(R) A team consisting of 3 Mews and 3 Greninjas. The Greninjas were all holding Power Herbs and used the moves Bounce, Dive, Dig, Scald and Shadow Sneak.
(L) Garchomp using Draco Meteor, followed by Fire Blast, on a Mew. When it had Outrage.
(R) Said Mew had Solar Beam and Whirlpool. With... wait for it... Berry Juice. Revenge killed Garchomp with...
(R) Mew #2, which successfully took down Garchomp with a combination of Dark Pulse and Aura Sphere. Left then sent out...
(L) Focus Punch Blaziken. Without Substitute. Miraculously, it managed to pull it off when Right switched to Greninja #2. It tries the same trick on Greninja #3, and, failing that, uses Earthquake for all of 45%.
(R) Switches Greninja for Mew #2, which, in turn, is KO'd by...
(L) Thunder Zapdos with Sky Attack and Giga Impact. What better way to revenge kill it than with...
(R) Greninja #3, which uses Shadow Sneak while Zapdos is charging Sky Attack. Genius!

Edit: I made a meme team

Sadly, no replay for these one, but all the more stupid.

Gamemode: Anything Goes

Foe's Team: | Moegami (Blaziken), Kappa (Ludicolo), Teddy (Slaking), Acooltent (Tentacruel), Pandora (Absol), Altair (Altaria)
(yes, this bloke used chuggaaconroy's emerald team)

  • Blaziken had no mega stone, no speed boost, and had Focus Band Blaze Kick. I switched to Octillery to take the hit and he DIDN'T switch.
  • I'm not aware what Ludicolo did, it got OHKO'd by my Moody Octillery with +2 Sp.Att Fire Blast.
  • Slaking.
  • Hyper Beam Slaking. Ended up taking out my Octillery, -2 Sp. Def.
  • I switch to Cloyster, and the next hyper beam (after recharge) misses, and I effortlessly take it down, because Shell Smash.
  • He Mega-evolves Absol, but it gets taken out by Icicle Spear. I think this guy forgot to set the EVs.
  • Tentacruel without Black Sludge.
  • The foe's Acooltent used Tackle!
  • The guy (I don't remember his name) told me to fuck myself after I said "Why is your Tentacruel running Tackle?"
  • Foe surrendered.

Gamemode: 1v1

My Team: | Gengar (non-mega)
Foe's Team: | Accelgor

Turn 1:

Accelgor used Final Gambit!
It has no effect...
Foe surrendered.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/sketchmons-276724685

[L] Precipice Blades Gliscor seems... suboptimal when it already gets Earthquake. A better Flying STAB might be more appropriate? Something to lure in Skarmory?
[R] Smack Down Emboar. They decide that it's a good move to use on Gliscor.
[R] Limber Ditto. OHKOed on the switch.
[R] Dusknoir ever.
[R]
★O99ex: ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
O99ex left.
O99ex joined.
★O99ex: nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
[R] Electrify Raichu (at least there's a concept behind that) with Teeter Dance, Grass Knot, and Electro Ball. Because Electrify isn't enough to beat slower Pokemon, apparently.
[L] Imprisonform KyuB. Granted, it is the highest-HP Imprison user, but that doesn't make Imprisonform good on Kyurem, or at all. Notably, it could have beat Raichu with just Teravolt + an attack, because [R] didn't seem to grasp that Teravolt would let KyuB ignore its Volt Absorb.
[L] Keeps trying to activate the Electrify gimmick on an obviously faster Mega Lopunny. Can't touch it because Electro Ball + Grass Knot is weak ass shit.
[R] Smelling Salts Mega Lopunny.
[L] After Porygon-Z sets up two Nasty Plots on a confused Ferrothorn, conceds.

While the (not terrible) battle rages on the field, a meme-and-spam war rages in the chat.

Yet another "please have an Eviolite" (Bronzor), which gets OHKOed from full (on a crit, admittedly). That team does win, though, thanks to Moltres.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lcsuspecttest-344661758
Dig Anorith (and that awkward moment when your switchin is apparently Abra). Meanwhile, the ShadyPenguinn fan gets to pull some neat last-mon heroics with Mankey.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-344659318
No, Prankster does not allow you to move before Mega Evolution. A +1 Mega Sceptile behind a sub can end games--instead it's Scizor and that sweet, sweet Bullet Punch that cleans up.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-344661229
Magic Coat SwagKeys on one side, and on the other...hoo boy. We'll start with the Pikachu and the non-Mega Kangaskhan. Oh, and Pikachu OHKOes itself in confusion. Oh, and the loser claims victory.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-344675297
Non-Mega Gyarados, Heracross, AND Sceptile can't handle Darkrai. Might have been Darkrai sweep if I didn't miss two Dark Voids in a row, and Mega Ray didn't wake up immediately after being put to sleep the first time.
EDIT: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-345357365
Madagascar theme team with only four Pokemon and everything having a legit movepool, except Pyroar with Roar of Time and Hippowdown with Superpower (could be legit, you could never know) and their legit ability. I think this battle killed some of my brain cells.

Mono-Wobbuffet versus what the hell is that team supposed to be?
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-345525657
This battle broke my brain. Can someone explain to me everything wrong with this? I'll start off with by saying they had Eviolite on a Forretress.

Non-Mega Lucario with Power-Up Punch, Aura Sphere Mewtwo, mixed Umbreon with Double-Edge and Psychic, Protect ALL the Pokemon, and Delphox in general.

DID SOMEBODY SAY MORE?
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-345585167
Normal Deoxys, Latiosite instead of Soul Dew, Shedinja in general, and more await in this replay
  • (L) Shedinja leads, against Primal Groudon. This can only end well.
  • (L) Sheddy stays in and outspeeds, going for a Swords Dance. (Base. Forty.) Groudon uses Lava Plume. Now, we're already in bad shape--your only passing options are Bisharp (which gets nuked) and Arceus, which probably* isn't going to like a sun-boosted STAB Lava Plume, either. How do we make this worse?
  • (L) By SDing again. Bye, Felicia Shedinja.
  • (L) Ice Beam and EQ on the Mega Latios, pretty generic. It also uses Psychic on Darkrai when it has zero incentive to switch and there's nothing to catch with it.
  • (R) Nightmare Darkrai. Yeesh.
  • (L) X-Scissor Bisharp. Gets the job done, sure, but Low Kick exists and hits more stuff in general. Holding a Muscle Band, which is something I actually don't mind.
  • (L) Gothitelle switches in to trap Deoxys-A, which has revealed Knock Off. Guess how that goes. Go on, guess.
  • (L) *Oh, it's Arceus-Fire. With EQ too, and if Sheddy had made the pass all the way back at the beginning, left would be in a better position.
  • (L) Calm Mind Deoxys-N. No further comment necessary.
New batch!

Mat Block works. Also Aqua Tail Swampert and a triple weather fest, with sun ultimately carrying the day.

Right side from LordBraixen's replay returns. And if you're gonna bring Ninetales, people, at least bring the sun with it.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/doublesou-345608250
Effect Spore Amoonguss, Magic Bounce fail, a physical Greninja that does...a little bit, and Zard Y not trusting Heat Wave to fry a 39% Mega Heracross.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-345607049
Hail Mamoswine. You do know there's a Primal Kyogre, right? But wait, there's more, in case somebody would like to tackle this one.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/doublesou-345606741
Mad props to right. If you get Wonder Guard onto an Air Balloon Electric, and said Electric is freaking Plusle, you deserve to win.

Nightmare Darkrai was mostly just for a Bad Dreams+Nightmare+Dream Eater gimmick, and for whatever reason almost every single time I try to use it the opponent wakes up immediately afterwards. Also, try and list everything wrong with the Madagascar theme team battle. Just try.
