Simple Question, Simple Answer Thread Advance

tickle, perish song and taunt go through sub for sure. most other stuff is blocked, or it's effect is blocked (rapid spin, knock off)

xD

Confusion and leech seed can be passed. I'm not certain about taunt, encore, imprison, or torment, and I'm pretty sure attract won't pass even if the recipient is the same gender. I mighta missed some.

As for things that go through subs, there's attract, tickle (for some reason), haze, perish song, roar/whirlwind, psych up, taunt, encore, trick, multiple-hitting moves, and snatch (I think). Not sure about imprison or torment. Those are the only ones I can think off the top of my head. If you really hate subbing stat uppers, tricking a CB works good. Encoring the stat up then switching to a phazer/something that can break the sub also works.

Still hoping for an answer on this: is the PC item storage box on Emerald unlimited? The Ruby/Sapphire one certainly isn't.

There's no effort ribbon checker in FRLG, is there?

I had a random stupid question: Is anyone still playing ADV doing so without Pokemon Box? But then I checked ebayUS and realised its now going for ridiculous money. I know this is OT, but its a quiet thread: US ADV carts will work perfectly with PAL Pokemon Box. You'll just need a freeloader/free loader gamecube disc if you have a non-pal cube.

EDIT: Also, I have about 150 uncloned legit Mew. Any suggestions on how to weed out the decent ones? Its a LOT of Pokes to IV check, and they're all at level 10. It'd be foolish to migrate them for checking since they lose a chunk of their moveset pool.

The storage box in Emerald is basically the exact same thing as in RS, except you can Move Items inside of those boxes.

I play Pokemon Emerald, LeafGreen and Sapphire still. I am trying to get the National Dex completed for all 3 and breeding for my Competitive Pokes in Emerald.
A few of my friends where I live still play their Sapphires and Emeralds. Only my sister in the whole village has Ruby, and she still plays that.

I don't have Pokemon Box. I wish I did. I got a credit card a few years ago just so I can get it, but as soon as I got the card, the Pokemon Box wasn't sold anymore. Now I can't find it without it being 150+ Dollars.

For the Mew: Try checking it's stats, and see if they have these stats:

Code:
Mew Level 10 Stats:

HP Att Def Sp.A Sp.D Speed
-----------------------------------
43 28 28 28 28 28

Those stats are assuming a Neutral Nature. For the Natures that have +/- in their stats, follow this:

HP: 43
Will always have Max HP of 43. Natures do not affect this.

Other Stats: 28
+ Nature: 30
- Nature: 25

If your Pokemon has those Stats, that shows possibilities of 31 IVs in the stats. Just put the Pokemon with the highest stats you can find into a single box, line them up according to their stats from highest to lowest in the next box after that and then check the stats according to the 31 IVs.

I might not be 100% right on that, I still haven't written my IV guide for my forum, but I am pretty sure that's correct.

Any corrections, post it replying to the stats thing. Quoted reply.

Edit: Try going here to find EVs of Pokemon.

That is currently the best IV Calculator that I can find.

Thanks for your thoughts. As I say about Pokemon Box - it would be far cheaper for you to buy one from the UK (maybe 25USD total), plus one of those discs that lets you use foreign games ebay example. Free loaders should just have got much cheaper, btw, because they don't work with updated Wiis.

Nuts about Emerald storage. I think I read somewhere it was unlimited. I hate the DS item storage system, but it is a real headache to run out of room in ADV.

That sounds like the sort of start I should be making. I just haven't got the natures in my head, and I'm worried I might miss good ones by getting mixed up. Plus, with it being an event-only legendary, should I be looking for perfects? I've wondered if it might make more sense to look for a solid range of IVs. That would be harder to do, but its not like I'm going to be breeding them.

Hm...

I'm IV battling the ones I have already PalParked. Nothing special yet.

Money in Emerald
Well, its better than in RS at least. Take one high level Pokemon, and five Pokemon with pickup around with you (or as many as you can after allowing for HM slaves). The higher the level of the pickups, the better stuff you'll get. You have trainers eyes, so use it. Otherwise just keep mashing through the E4 with the pickups. When I'm breeding on E, I actually sometimes make lots of money at Resort Gorgeous on FRLG and then Pokemon Box drugs/minerals across. Its still quicker than E4 imo, cos quite often you'll end up spending money getting through. If you do have other games, it might be worth your while working out what to do on which - this can make your spending more efficient.
HTH, lmk if you want more thoughts.

I think that question is somewhat relative, as most people will have their own way of dealing with different threats.

Personally, I'd just smack them with status. You can Toxic stall them if by using shuffling walls to absorb hits. Alternatively, load up on Thunder Wave and make the Speed boost pointless so you kill them before they get too many hits in.

You could use weather of your own. Bringing in a Tyranitar interrupts the rain, but it's weak to Water already, so you'll have to be careful in that regard.

Also,

or it's effect is blocked (rapid spin, knock off)

Careful here. Ingame, Rapid Spin will get rid of the Spikes even when the opponent is behind a Substitute - it just happens to operate differently on Netbattle.

Rain Dance teams lose to Ludicolo, unless they have a Ludicolo of their own, in which case, as Blue Kirby suggested, status well help tremendously, especially a Thunder Wave from Blissey.

Ok, so I'm going to start raising this Hitmonchan soon, and I want to know how to keep track of the EVs as they roll in.

Exactly how do I get a EV? His special defense seems amazing, 72 at level 25, and his attack seems good, 63 at level 25. But I simply do not know how to raise him the way I want him. I am training him in Leafgreen, and I plan on taking him to the elite four, I just do not know what to do.

I would also really like to know how to count the IVs.

Thank you if you can help.

What is the best Nature / EVs for a Breloom:

Breloom @ Leftovers
~Spore
~Sub
~Focus Punch
~HP Rock

I am guessing Jolly Nature to hit stuff with Spore before it gets hit, if it can hit before.

I am going to see if this guy can make things sleep in Link Up and see if my friends can take it on or if they will be all KOed before they could do anything.

Adamant is actually the best nature, because there isn't much that Breloom can hit between 239 and 262 that actually matters to it. Zapdos is usually a Sleep Talker, you can't beat Celebi anyways and it has Natural Cure, and Jolly Tyranitar isn't too common. Max Attack, put in enough Speed for around 230, and then dump the rest in HP.

252/252/4 adamant is my favorite
however with hp rock you might want to cut back a bit, like sage says, mostly since hp rock forces a 30 speed IV iirc and its rather pointless to have 1 less stat than other base 70 guys.

Is there a good HP that leaves Speed with 31 IV? I only ever used Ice that has 31. I am going to try figure it out on my own also, since I "think" I can find it with the NetBattle ones.

If you follow Sage's advice, you can hit ~230 Speed and have HP Rock (which is the only really somewhat useful Hidden Power available outside of Ghost) with only 4 more Speed EVs. You won't find having being unable to tie with other Base 70 Speed Pokemon to be a huge problem regardless.

Setting the speed IV to 31 and everything else to 30 gives u max speed hp flying. I use it on Salamence. You could always have hp ghost for type coverage, it's standard.

How does RNG in Emerald work? Since I'm resetting for Regice, and I've got EXACTLY THE SAME REGICE in few minutes period >.<
EDIT: Hell, it happened again, with another Regice, though.
