I'm fairly new ev training so I Have A question. I maxed out evs on my greninja and it has perfect ivs and it is on level 40. I looked on bulbapedia and level 50 it is supposed to Have a speical attack stat of 170 but mine is nowhere near that. Once you max out your evs can you level up anyway you want? Or do you still have to battle specific pokemon? My greninja hasn't been battling itself I've just been switching it out. Thanks!
If it has EVs in other stats too, then it may not be able to reach its max EVs in Special Attack. A pokemon can have a max of 252 EVs in a particular stat, but a max of 510 overall. EVs in Defense, Special Defense, HP and Attack may be crowding out your Special Attack and Speed EVs. Also, your Greninja has been getting EVs every time it gained Experience from battle, it doesn't matter if it strikes the final blow or not, as long as it gets Exp. from battle it gets EVs.
If you need to remove Effort Values, there are Pomeg, Grepa, Hondew, Tamato, and a couple other berries that can remove 8 EVs per berry. Or you could use a Reset bag.

Different Pokemon give different EVs. so to get max SpAtk you need to to defeat wild Pokemon that give SpAtk EVs. You cannot max all your stats so you need to plan ahead as to which EVs you'd like for your Pokemon.
I actually realize what happened. I didn't take nature into consideration. My greninja is timid and it's speed is right where it needs to be. So that was just me being stupid. Thanks anyway though man. But just for confirmation once you're done ev training you can level up your pokemon however you want right?
