Hello! This is my 2nd OU Rate My Team, and this team has worked well for me after the Mega Salamence ban. This team focuses more on my sweeper, so I would like someone to help rate it and improve upon it. After the Mega Salamence ban, I wondered about another set up sweeper that I could use in OU, and I settled upon Charizard X. This team has worked well for me, but I'm always looking for improvement on it.
I decided to start with a sweeper. Charizard X has always been a great sweeper from what I have seen. It was the second-best thing to Mega Salamence as a set up sweeper before the ban, so now I think it can be put to good use
Landorus-Therian I have always used in most of my teams. It is pretty viable in OU right now (#2 I think), and it is a pretty great pokemon to have on any team, especially with the QuakeEdge set.
Ferrothorn is a pretty simple explanation. Great hazard user, can inflict damage through barbs, and also pretty bulky in general. Definitely one of the best hazard users right now. You may also see how Ferrothorn is one of the more interesting members of this team.
Rotom-Wash is a pretty good pokemon. I haven't used Rotom-Wash all that much in my past teams, but I decided that I should try a pokemon on my team that I don't use often, but still is good, and Rotom-Wash is a great example of that. I mainly chose it because of Will-O-Wisp.
I wanted a special wall on my team, so I decided upon Clefable. Clefable is definitely a great special wall in a lot of cases, and is pretty bulky overall as well.
Latios is a great special attacker and is pretty self-explanatory. Does a good dent in teams with Draco Meteor as its main STAB move.
Slayer (Charizard) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
First up on the team is none other than its sweeper, Charizard. Charizard-X serves as an efficient sweeper, and that is why I chose it. It is a great set up sweeper, and destroys a ton of things after a Dragon Dance, especially while Fire Punch and Dragon Claw are boosted by Tough Claws, as well as good STAB moves. I chose Fire Punch over Flare Blitz because Fire Punch can still do good damage, but also have Charizard-X not take any recoil damage. I then run Earthquake as a coverage move. Adamant over Jolly nature to make it do more damage while sweeping.
Boron (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Next I have Landorus-T. Landorus-T is fairly common in OU as a scarf user, and is probably one of the best users of it. For its EVs, I have 232 Speed because that way, it can still outspeed Scarf Jolly Excadrill, Scarf Timid Rotom-W, and +1 Adamant Charizard-X, while still maintaining some extra bulk to put in HP. Intimidate also can weaken set up sweepers well (although Bisharp is annoying), and its moveset is the basic QuakeEdge set, with Stone Edge serving as a birdspam killer.
Hazard (Ferrothorn) @ Shed Shell
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
Ferrothorn is my hazards setter. I chose it since I thought that it had the most efficient use of Stealth Rock. I usually don't run Gyro Ball since I run Thunder Wave, and instead I run Power Whip as another powerful STAB move. Stealth Rock is obvious to put on a Ferrothorn, and Thunder Wave is to slow down other pokemon, such as set up sweepers. Now, what is more interesting about this Ferrothorn is its item, Shed Shell. Rocky Helmet and Leftovers are common on it, but Shed Shell is a more uncommon item in general. Shed Shell does, however, allow me to switch Ferrothorn out, regardless of the abilities of other pokemon. This is perfect against Magnet Pull Magnezone (hence, Ferrothorn's nickname).
Dry-Clean (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Rotom-Wash I use as a specially defensive pokemon that makes good use of Will-O-Wisp. My main reason for choosing it was because I needed a Will-O-Wisp user to bring down offensive pokemon on the other team. Its EVs are the specially defensive Rotom-Wash one, and I use Leftovers on it for accumulative recovery. Hydro Pump and Volt Switch are pretty typical STAB moves for it, and it makes good use of Pain Split for a more reliable recovery than Leftovers.
Celestial (Clefable) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 228 HP / 160 Def / 24 SpA / 96 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Soft-Boiled
As the special wall of the team, Clefable really does have some great use. I chose Clefable because I wanted to have a good counter to Mega Sableye (<which can wreck) on this team. Calm Mind is pretty typical on Clefable, as well as Moonblast, which also is the Sableye killer. Magic Guard is great to avoid Toxic/Stealth Rock/Leech Seed/Weather damage, which makes it much easier for Clefable to last. For Fire Blast, its great against Steel type threats to Clefable such as Gyro Ball Ferrothorn, and also I can use it if I can see a Scizor switch-in (Scizor actually is a problem for it pretty much), and Soft-Boiled for good recovery. Clefable's EV spread I chose that spread to have a more balanced spread overall. Have more base Defense over Sp. Def to have Clefable do better against possible physical hits, and 24 Sp. Atk to give its Special Attacks slightly more power.
Photon (Latios) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Roost
- Defog
Last, but not least, is my special attacker. I chose Latios because it can do a lot of damage with its STAB moves plus Life Orb, as well as a Defogger for my team. The EV spread is the typical one for Latios, with Timid over Modest for more speed, as well as Life Orb giving its attacks a boost. I do want Latios to stay on my team longer, so I run Roost on it as a good recovery move. For this team, this was probably the best option for Defog as it is pretty fast, and also is still a special attacker as well.
Threats:
Bisharp is pretty annoying with Defiant, which can check my Intimidate on my Landorus-T. After that, it could potentially do a lot of damage to this team, espeically with Sucker Punch.
Scarf Landorus-T can stop my sweep. It outspeeds my Charizard-X at +1, and can easily use Earthquake to kill it, which can be very annoying at times.
