A Link/TL tourney would see, like, no Link usage. At all. There's no debate as to which character is better, even if Link has cheap tricks that make him different from TL.



On the other hand, it'd be more interesting to "prove" which is better between characters like Gdorf/CF or Lucas/Ness.

It wouldn't prove anything, actually. It's called a "gimmick" tournament, not a "whoever wins is maybe the better character" tournament.

I mean, I could probably beat Stoo's Toon Link with my Link, but does that mean Link is better? I also think it's pretty obvious that Ganon > Captain Falcon, and honestly, no one cares about the Ness > Lucas or Lucas > Ness "debate" any more, they both kinda suck.
 
I guess I'll throw my two cents in here about the next tourney. How about a choose the other persons character tourney. Everyone signed up chooses another person's character, and they have to use it all tourney. Otherwise maybe just another items one.

Well we could leave it to a random number generator to pick out our characters. Number them 1-35 or however the hell you wanna do. I think a random tourney would just be bitchin. Or you know, an all F/G tier tourney.
 
Opposite mains is the worst idea ever, honestly. And I'd totally take Link over TL; just because one character is better than another in general means nothing when it comes down only to a direct matchup between the two.

Except when you're Link. TL outcamps Link and gimps him as easy as all the other characters gimp him. All of Link's tilts and smashes are telegraphed in advance and easily punished or avoided, except for DACUS. Link is also hurt more than TL is by their respective hated stages.
 
How does TL outcamp Link? They basically have the same projectiles and Link has significantly better melee range.
 
TL is shorter, his arrows shoot on less of an arc, and his boomerang travels faster. Link really only has noticeably more range on Ftilt, Fair, and Zair.
