Teams

1. Havak - The WGA: The World Canadian Bureau
2. joel22 - Guns and Rosicky
3. sbc - The People's Team
4. Dan Dan - BORKastle United!
5. Kinneas - South Park Cows

hehe I'll join this, I was doing OK until I lost interest mid way through last season. Though prizes are needed.

I've joined just for laughs as I usually fail.

I'm Guns and Rosicky by the way, its a bit wierd but hey I support Arsenal so wanted to fit gunners in somewhere then suddenly thought of guns and roses and changing roses and Rosicky seemed to fit best.

I'm the People's Team (with the one with the rather childish name). I'm not going to name my whole team but IMO James Beattie is a steal at 6.0, he got 80 points in half a season, scored 20+ league goals in 02/03 and is a guaranteed starter for Stoke.

This is my team, BORKastle United! A name thought up after about 5 seconds. It's to do with my team, Newcastle United being relegated into the Championship and the whole circus surrounding my football club. Anyway... onto the players.

Goalkeepers

Given
Reina

Well, obviously as a Newcastle fan I think Shay Given is a fantastic goalkeeper, probably the best in the Premiership IMO. We were just lucky to hold onto him for as long as we did. He's a great reaction goalkeeper and general shot stopper. He does come with some injury issues but hopefully he'll have a good season with City.

My other goalkeeper was a toss up between Schwarzer and Reina... I went with Reina in the end. Schwarzer is getting on a bit and reckon he's more injury prone than Reina.

Defenders

Lescott
Hangeland
Upson
Turner
Baines

I tried not to buy any really big money defenders here, and went fo a couple of players who I thought had outstanding seasons last year. Hangeland of Fulham was immense at the back, and Turner of Hull was easily their best player last year.

Lescott or Terry...sound familiar? No I'm not some Arab Sheik, just deciding which central defender I want to partner Hangeland! I went with Lescott in the end, only because of the pricetag. I'm pretty sure I can rely on him to start most, if not all of Everton/Man City's matches this season.

Upson was a pretty cheap buy, and an England international, alongside Lescott. He's a bit hit or miss though, so I might switch him about a bit with Baines. He was my last player to buy with the leftover money I had.

Midfielders

Murphy (C)
Milner
Carrick
Alonso
Noble

My midfield is dogged and scrappy, with a touch of class. Danny Murphy, my team captain, was the first on my list. He was rolling back the years to his Liverpool days last season with Fulham, controlling their midfield and giving being the hub of all their moves.

Carrick or Alonso would sit alongside Murphy, probably both as I only have one true winger. Hopefully though Alonso won't bugger off to Real Madrid...

Milner's going to be a great England player, I am sure of it. Already rustling a few feathers in the U21, he had a great European Championship over the summer for, guiding England into the Final (damn Germans .-.).

Forwards

Tevez
Crouch
Agbonlahor

Tevez, yes I know...but at least it I didn't choose Robinh, who I still think is the most overrated player in the Premiership. Maybe he can prove me wrong this season as he might actually have to play for a place in the starting lineup. Anyway, Tevez was pretty cheap...probably because he only scored about 8 goals last season and didn't play regularly. I think he will get at least 20 this season and a regular in the City first team.

CROUCHY BABY! Who doesn't love Peter Crouch? I sure do. I couldn't NOT buy him... He's linking up with Defoe again at Spurs so I'm sure he'll grab a netfull of goals this season, and probably set up a few.

Agbonlahor is my final striker, and the 9th Englishman in my squad. He didn't have the best season.. or rather he ran out of steam from about February onwards. Hopefully he'll be fresh and ready to run again for Villa this year.

I'm just gonna go ahead and post my whole team, which cost me £100million. Kinda wish I would've switched it around a bit and got Beattie now though, I completely forgot about him.

Reina
Johnson Vidic Hangeland Faye
Delap P.Neville Carrick A.Young
Torres Berbatov
--
Subs: Sorensen, Bramble, Geovanni, Zamora

I wanted a good goalkeeper, Liverpool generally don't conceed many and Reina is always playing, I don't recall him getting injured before. Van der Sar may do well with our defence, but I think Foster will get a lot of chances so VDS won't play so much. Cech can be injury prone more so than other keepers and I just think Reina will do well. Sorensen is my good replacement if need be, and he was cheap.

I think Johnson will settle at Liverpool and provide a lot of assists, so I chose him. Vidic is clearly the best defender, while Hangeland is a steal at £5.5million. Faye was just a last purchase with 4.5 or so left and he was one of the best left available to me, though Brambe (my sub) is similar.

I chose Geovanni first, but then I decided to switch him out (for at least the first game) as Hull play Chelsea, while Stoke play Burnley. Phil Neville was a steal at his price. I think Carrick will have a good season, and so will Ashley Young. I expect lots of assists and a few goals from that midfield combo.

Torres will score like a paedo in a playground, and Berbatov will both score a lot and assist a lot, which is why I chose him. Torres is my captain due to the amount of goals I expect.

I tried to pick players who I expect to feature in the majority of games for their respective teams as well obviously, so hopefully I'll do well.

Oh cool a smogon league. :)
South Park Cows are ready to rock. I'll post a bit about my team and season predictions later.

Oh well, I might as well post my whole team, I can't be bothered to explain why I chose each one atm:

GK-Reina
Def-Hangeland, Clichy, Terry, Konchesky
Mid-Arshavin, Riera, Geovanni, Fellaini
FW-Anelka(C), Carew

Subs-Sorenson, Delap, Kitson, Djourou

Looks I'm going to have to swap out Vidic for the first game of the season at least as well..

- What's your Team Name? Midnight Allstars
- Which players did you choose?

GK: Green and Swarchzer
DF: Lescott, Agger, Bramble, Auerlio, Nelsen
MF: Nasri, Giggs, Neville, Nani, Kranjcar
FW: Robinho, Crouch, Agbonlahor

- Why did you choose the players you chose?
In all honesty most of the defence was random in order to get a better midfield and some good forwards. The Goalies just were the highest ranked for their price.

- Who's your captain and why? It was default as Robinho lol

What's your Team Name? LFClegends
- Which players did you choose?
Reina
Alex Hangeland A.Ferdinand Bassong
Modric Gerrard Ashbee Neville
Torres Owen
Subs :Murphy, Bramble,Diouf,Green

- Why did you choose the players you chose?
I chose some good players to start then went within my Budget
- Who's your captain and why?
Stevie Gerrard because is is a great leader, motivates the team and scores crucial goals

Snorelax Strongth

Cech
Carragher Bramble Lescott Cahill
Neville Taylor Lennon Kuyt
Crouch Torres

Substitutes: Sorensen, Geovanni, Konchesky, Beattie

Overall the team cost exactly £100 million. I wanted Lampard over Kuyt but it meant I couldn't have Crouch who I wanted to use. Pretty pleased with all my subs.

Captain is Carragher.

Joined the league, with Spastic Fantastic.
Reina(c)
Terry/Warnock/Baines/O'Shea
Pienaar/Fellaini/Riera/Jenas
Torres/Crouch

Subs: Green/Heskey/Diao/Young

Reina, IMO is the best stopper in the league, which is mostly why he's my captain. He started most of our games this season, and bagged the second most clean sheets in the league, while rarely getting injured.

For defence, I really Wanted Carra, although I could only have three liverpool players, which was pretty gay, so I went with Terry instead, for my big-budget defender. He's chelsea captain, so he'll be playing quite a bit, and he's good at getting assists/the odd goal, so he should come in handy. Baines/Warnock are both pretty good defenders, and i'm pretty sure they'll play quite a bit, so they're sound choices. Just needed a last filler, so I brought in O'shea, as generally, when I see him play he does alright, and that's good enough.

Pienaar is such a great Midfielder, he's constantly on probing runs, digging in to the defence, and setting something up, he also pairs well with Fellaini, which is why I brought him in. He scores a bit too, which is helpful.
Riera is Very underrated. He is an excellent LMF, and he should be getting a few goals, and plenty of assists this season. Jenas caps off my midfield. He should have a pretty good season, as from what I've seen of him, he is pretty consistent.

Up front, I've gone, rather predictably with the best striker in the league. Torres lost his stride a bit last season, through an injury, and Still managed to get a heapful of goals. I made sure he would be in my team. Crouch is also a very good striker, able to set people up, and get quite a few goals himself. He should get regular first team action with spurs, which is why I picked him.

Team name :dream team +1

team : cech sub-soresen
vidic-dunne-woodgate-terry-sub dawson
gerrard-kompany-riera-gudjonsson-sub mccarthy
torres-drogba-sub-cresswell

Okay taking into account first week fixtures and Vidic's injury, my team at the moment is:

Green

Terry, A Cole, Hangleand, Carragher

Kuyt, Murphy, P Neville

Torres, Owen, Davies

Still unsure as to if Owen will be playing match week 1, if not I'll probably switch him out for Agbonlahor or switch around and free up some points for Berbatov.

ok. i'll sign up might as well
phalanx united

currently:

schwartzer - great season last year, in for van der sar currently who is injured

Vidic - even though he is injured he could return this month, and the best defender points wise
Carragher - another good solid defender
Lescott - defender who scores a fair few goals in a season is a handy thing
Michael Duff - cheap defender, possibly a gamble on burnleys brilliant wins against arsenal chelsea AND liverpool last season

Lampard - either fat frank of gerrard, not much between to 2, overall i think Lampard will be worth more in assists then gerrard and about the same in goals
Geovanni - had a good start of the season last time out, underated player
P neville - best value for money buy in the whole game at 5 million, good solid "under the radar" midfielder

Rooney - obvious as to why :D
Zamora - scores plenty of goals when playing
Agbonlahor - scores plenty, a good player

subs
Van Der Sar - good keeper probably the best of the top 4, injured currently though
Kevin Mcdonald - from what i remember burnleys goal scoring midfielder, so perhaps a good cheap source of points
Zayatte - great defender, 4 million only cost for him, slected by almost 20% of people playing and obvious why
Quashie - another cheap buy, lots of those but i cna fit big names in

This should be fun, team name(STS) was just random.

Goalkeepers

Reina, Sorenson

Not much to say it was always gonna be between Cech, Reina and VDS for first choice keeper. I think Reina is a little less injury prone and error prone then Cech, and i think Reina will play more games then VDS.

Defenders- Carragher, Lescott, Terry, Hangeland, Zayatte

I think enough has been said of these players, was gonna pick Vidic over Terry as he is probably more of a goal threat and United will probably concede the least, in the end he cost too much and Chelsea themselves are usually very good defensively.
Zayatte isn't bad and was certainly the best of the 4 million range players.

Midfield- Arshavin, Neville, Delap, Modric, Gudjonsson

Arshavin may be a bit of a gamble at 11 million but i think he will put a good amount of assists and goals this season, and has had an excellent pre- season. Wouldn't be shocked if he won EPL player of the season or at least in the top 3. Neville is a bargain at 5 million as was Delap and he should get a few assists.

Strikers- Torres, Crouch, Ebanks-Blake

Torres- If he stays fit is there really any chance he won't be the league's top scorer

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake- Great player and has always had an excellent Goals-Game ratio i know this was at Championship level, but i can see him picking up around 10-15 goals this season against the "lesser" teams. Only cost 5.5 million so is a bargain as well.

Crouch- Got 11 goals last season and probably has better service at Tottenham so i expect at least as many this season, only 7.5 million as well.

Captain is Torres as he is a legitmate 20-25 goal striker so will get a shit load of points for the team.

half my team didn't play... still got decent scores out of zamora and rooney (both 9 point strikers with a x2 on rooney)
