If a slow pokemon who would nomally hit Gyro Ball for max damage used gyro ball in Trick Room, would it hit for Max damage or minimum damage?
It will hit for the damage it normally would (in your case, maximum damage).

I am a total new person to this whole scene. All I know how to do is IV breed. I want to make a team but I am completely overwhelmed with everything this place has to offer. I had a friend help make me a team but I feel I'd get more out of this whole experience if I made one myself. I am not asking for a total walk-through but any basic tips on getting started would be very appreciated. Thank you.
First of all, you should check out Pokemon Showdown!, Smogon's battling simulator. You don't need to breed or anything like that for it haha. If you're confused about what everything on the forums is, check out the Smogon Primer for more information. www.smogon.com/mentorship/primer

Does Trick Room take effect the turn it is activated or the next turn? (Say a pokemon with prankster used trick room, would a high speed or low speed pokemon go after it during the same turn)
Trick room has -7 priority, meaning that this scenario can never happen.
Thanks but it may or may not be all that useful. I've read a few guides but they don't seem to contain exactly what I'm looking for. I've learned a lot about the roles of teams, but it's the process of choosing pokemon is what is bugging me. But before I start begging for help, I'll look through what you linked. If choosing Pokemon is the main problem you're experiencing, looking at the Viability Rankings for whatever meta you're building for is a good idea. What tier are you trying to build a team for?
Anyone have a Diancie they could spare? I'm trying to put together a living pokedex and all i need is Genesect, Keldeo, and Diancie.

Do Ice Body and Snow Cloak actually provide any resistance to Sandstorm damage? Yes, of course they resist hail, but Bulbapedia's page for the sandstorm weather condition looks messed up. It says Ice Body and Snow Cloak resist sandstorm as well. That can't be right, can it?

im very new to smogon but not new to pokemon although i have taken a very long hiatus. (havent played since heart gold nd soul silver XD) Now that im done with schooling and have a job i can finally get back into the game! Can't wait to begin raising a team for competitive play! My question is im playing Alpha Sapphire and dont have a copy of X or Y readily available. Where the heck to i catch ditto?!? im after the elite four and heard that i have to find them on mirage spots but i have been looking for awhile and cant get lucky! Anyone have an answer? Wanna catch these IV dittos so i can get this ball rolling! thanks again
A few questions where I'm getting conflicting responses (and googling does the same)
So...
1) Plus/minus gives a 1.5x sp. att boost when mons with them come out, however does this stack in triples? There's mixed answers on it, so say in triples it starts with plus, plus, minus pokemon coming out, do they all get a faux nasty plot boost, or just the 1.5?
Right testing this myself it does appear it DOESN'T stack, three pokemon on the field with the abilities do the same damage on the special side as if only two were there.
2) Can you keep the boost from plus/minus if the ability changes? I assume not as it isn't a notified stat boost, but a background passive thing, but if Amphy with plus Mega's, would it keep the sp.att boost? (as I say, assume it wouldn't)
3) Magnetic flux gives a visible boost in def/sp.def (in that the associated animation and text notification of it occurring in-game shows, unlike plus/minus), thus I assume if Amphy M-evolved after boost (s) from magnetic flux, it would keep its defensive stat increases?
Also pretty confident it does keep the stat boosts if it megas

Nope, I'm not sure exactly how that went onto Bulbapedia, because it's not mentioned anywhere else on the internet and the point after that doesn't mention it haha. Ice Body and Snow Cloak provide immunity to hail, though, which they must have forgotten to edit.
I found a video about this (granted, it's of poor quality). I myself haven't played ORAS :( but in the video the guy went to Mirage Cave. Serebii seems to confirm that you can find Ditto in Mirage Island or Mirage Cave.

I tried looking up JoeyBoy's questions but Bulbapedia didn't provide any sufficient answers, a researcher would probably be more suited for this purpose.
Thanks for the reply! i have been on many mirage islands and caves just cant seem to find the right one. I know the time of day can have an effect but i can only play at night due to work. Maybe on a day off ill check during the day

How can your post count just randomly drop, mine dropped by at least 40 (last time a checked was a week ago, and it was well over 400, when I came back it was 375) it's not like it matters, it just makes me curious.

This might happen due to an error in the counting script (maybe?) but it's most likely because many old threads are deleted from time to time. Another less likely scenario is that your posts got deleted, which probably didn't happen.
Thanks for the reply ^^ if my post got deleted, is there anyway I can see which?
Edit: Also, another question on another topic: does smogon pm follow the same smogon rules as the forums, or can you chat about ROMs and stuff in a personal conversation?
If you're looking at a thread where you had posted and exactly the page and post number when you posted it, it'll show who deleted it. Considering it's 20 posts, this probably didn't happen and was just some old thread lol
Also there really are no rules for smogon convos as long as the people who are talking about it are fine with it (don't post it on the forums, though!)

I'm Zach, a 24 year old from Canada who is just getting into competitive Pokemon. I have played a number of different games competitively such as (Counter Strike Source, League of Legends and Starcraft 2) and wanted to get into this game because I have always had a soft spot for Pokemon.
I am posting today asking if anyone could direct me to an in depth guide to EV training. When I say in depth I mean taking me through the steps of:
1. Breeding with a 6IV ditto and how to get one.
2. Breeding your desired Pokemon
3. Best way to EV train and what pokemon give what EV's.
I have yet to find a guide that details all information I have listed above. If anyone could get back to me that would be totally amazing!

EDIT: After finding this youtube tutorial my troubles are spared!
This has everything you need to know! Including the fact that you can clear all your pokemons EV's in the super training screen with a "reset bag".
