Smogon Simple Questions Thread

In Smogon advanced search, is there a way to restrict the keyword search? As an example, I would love to be able to search posts for strings of words to only find them in that specific order (as an example, if I search for "blind draft" I get a bunch of posts about draft in general). Several online library search programs will do this if you enclose your search terms with quotation marks (along with other uses like excluding particular words). Does this exist on Smogon already and I just can't figure it out?

I don't think there's a way, but one work around is to search in google for the phrase using site:smogon.com/forums

Just put them in quotes like you've done in your post here.
 
Hi, how can I find the amount of people/accounts that play on a particular ladder? If not, what's a reasonable estimate for the most recent VGC Bo3 ladders? (M-B & M-C, I know it's really early for the latter)

as far as I know, hosting money tours is only something people of a certain trust level are permitted to do. You can, however, get permission from staff of the format you want to host a tournament of to host it without the cash prize in their section if they’re willing.

The format is complicated because it's 1. pick a trainer (Steven, Cynthia) 2. make a team from allotted pool of Pokemon (Pokemon they have in the anime, in the Adventures manga, in game, etc.) 3. battle
So I'd have to do it in Anything Goes Natdex and verify each team's legality myself

Should I just not even bother trying to do it on the forums? also this question might exceed simple questions

I have a rules document and everything but I'm essentially not sure where or how to advertise it on here or if that's even allowed given the custom format and complexity. It's not draft, it's like, here are 10 Pokemon that Cynthia has, make a team of 6 and then battle this other guy who picked Steven

sounds easier to just do this through discord, unofficially.
 
Hi, I have a question about setting up a custom game type. I want to play Hackmons Cup with everything possible; including retired moves like Egg Bomb and illegal Pokemon like Missingno. Currently, Hackmons Cup only pulls from Pokemon and moves that are available in the current gen. Where would I ask for help in setting this up? Thanks!

This should include most things, though there always might be some obscure stuff classified yet differently that's missed:

Uh, if Hyperspace Fury is banned because it's basically Splash on anything but Unbound Hoopa, you'll probably want to ban Dark Void and Aura Wheel too.

Yeah, I added it because I've clicked it too many times thinking it would work with a non-Hoopa Pokemon. Forgot about the other two, will add those also!
