SM NU: Blast vs. FLCL
SM NU: Blast vs. Lax
SM NU: Jayde vs. Hootie
SM NU: FLCL vs. Lax
SM NU: FLCL vs. Hootie

SM NU: meeps vs. Kushalos [65-35] - Meeps is probs the best player in SM NU, can use creative shizzle to the best. Although Kush preps insanely well he is able to win.
SM NU: meeps vs. Yui. [90-10] - This is an easy one, meeps is better player more experienced and this is Yui first major tour.
SM NU: meeps vs. Blast [70-30] - meeps plays SM NU just more then Blast does.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Lax [60-40] - Kush is in my oppinion the better player / builder.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Rodriblutar [55-45] - Gonna be a close one but I think Kush really wants to prove himself after that #9th place in powerrankings
SM NU: Yui. vs. Jayde [40-60] - Jayde more experienced, better player, but if I see Yui win one it's this one.
SM NU: Yui. vs. Rodriblutar [35-65] - Basicly same as I said above this one. But Rodri is better then Jayde in SM NU.
SM NU: Eternally vs. Jayde [60-40] - Eternally is the mainer here
SM NU: Eternally vs. Hootie [45-55] - One of the HL matches for me, I think if both prep Hootie will come out on top.
SM NU: Eternally vs. Rodriblutar [55-45] - Eternally is the mainer here but Rodri is probs the better player. Can go different ways.
SM NU: Blast vs. FLCL - [30-70] - You can't predict against FLCL basicly. Shown being always good in tours, while Blast has shown it's flaws.
SM NU: Blast vs. Lax [50-50] - Can legit go both ways here.
SM NU: Jayde vs. Hootie [35-65] - Hootie better builder, mainer, dedicated, Hootie should take it.
SM NU: FLCL vs. Lax [65-45] - It's FLCL still but Lax can show here why he is picked for SM NU.
SM NU: FLCL vs. Hootie [55-45] - Absolutely the best match up of all, only better one you could have gotten was FLCL vs meeps. Hootie still has to show it in major tournaments and I know myself it's huge difference between NUPL and big tour.

meeps - 3
FLCL - 3
Kushalos - 2
Eternally - 2
Hootie - 2
Jayde - 1
Rodriblutar - 1
Lax - 0/1
Blast - 0/1
Yui. - 0

The first NU Snake game just occurred between Blast and FLCL!

I'll share my thoughts. I think these two teams looked pretty good and pretty solid for both of them but it's pretty clear that it was a really tough matchup for Blast, seeing how it was hard to get rid of Scrafty once Golbat got weakened a bit, and unfortunately that scenario happened. Overcoming that weakness was rough, especially with Blast losing the mind game with Audino: it seems like he didn't want to Mega evolve, thinking FLCL would use Z-Iron Tail but he High Jump Kick'd Audino, so at that point it was pretty much impossible for Blast to win, since Piloswine did not KO it with Ice Shard. Fairly quick win for FLCL, but hopefully Blast will win his remaining games!

Those were some interesting first few games. Cool to see Guzz Guzz on the rise even in tournaments.

meeps vs. Kushalos

cool game, I enjoyed watching that, both played well.
Turn 22 Ice Cream is in against Steelix and gets off a crit Blizzard. Later gets revealed it wasnt choiced. So assuming it was nevermeltice:

252+ SpA Never-Melt Ice Vanilluxe Blizzard vs. 244 HP / 128 SpD Steelix: 252-297 (71.5 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after hail damage and Leftovers recovery

so the crit did matter to kill steelix

Still looks like Vika won the game anyway. gg both

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-314143

Blast vs. FLCL

as earth summed up, I think Blast played this alright, though I would have protected with Audino. Matchup was really tough unfortunately. still, I am sure Blast will bounce back. again gg both

Blast vs. Lax

fun game. granted lax choked the last turn when he clicked Superpower, but got away with it anyway. good game guys

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-314213

FLCL vs. Hootie

Definetly was the game to look forward the most. The SubBU Braviary bring was a great decision, matchup was amazing, not much to be done about that. Dragon Tail miss was ass but I doubt that that really had impact on the outcome. gg!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-314166

I wanted to keep this as short as possible, hope I didnt say anything wrong, looking forward to future games.

nice games so far guys. great display of skills in team-building and battling. I learned a couple of new things from the experienced players replays and makes me more interested in this tier.

I try to preach the word of Omfuga that whimsi is broken and people don't wanna hear it. Here you go folks. Happy now? 46% usage with 71% winrate. In all seriousness, though, the first phase of snake (prep, games, and ofc the wise words of OMFUGA) has shown me that Whimsicott is underrated. I wouldn't say people consider it weak, but if this first week has shown anything, it's that most of us have underestimated it (good call on that migraine inducing whimsi banner though LOL).

SM NU: meeps vs. FLCL [55-45]: Finally the match we all have been waiting for (if you like NU of course). I do think if we talk about SM NU I think Meeps is the better player here. FLCL hasn't really impressed me yet besides the battle vs Hootie, while meeps has be dominant since alpha already.
SM NU: meeps vs. Lax [70-30]: meeps is the better player, although lax has shown how to bet meeps in ROOMTOURS.
SM NU: meeps vs. Hootie [65-35]: Hootie hasnt been on his game this snake tour and well that makes meeps the more consistent player.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Yui. [65-35]: Overall the better player, more experience, knows ho to win games etc.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Eternally [40-60]: eternally is finally showing why he is top 5 in SM NU if he keeps that up he might even go 6-0.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Jayde [45-55]: Jayde impressed me in phase 1 hope he keeps that up.
SM NU: Yui. vs. Eternally [30-70]: eternally wouldn't let this one slip through his hands for sure.
SM NU: Yui. vs. Hootie [35-65]: This will be Hooties first win in snake he will be so excited!.
SM NU: Eternally vs. elodin [30-70]: De hell is elodin doing in SM NU?
SM NU: elodin vs. Jayde [40-60]: What I said before Jayde impressed me.
SM NU: elodin vs. Rodriblutar [40-60]: Rodri has more NU experience.
SM NU: Jayde vs. FLCL [35-65]: This is still FLCL, hard to predict against him.
SM NU: FLCL vs. Rodriblutar [65-35]: ^
SM NU: Lax vs. Hootie [45-55]: Hootie his 2nd win?!?! exciting!

SM NU: meeps 45-55 FLCL: i feel like FLCL wants to redeem himself now and is not going to give a fuck about meeps' creative teams by just going balls to the wall HO and making correct plays that'll wrap up a close game. seriously though, it's anybody's game; these are 2 of the best NU players from way back and they probably know eachother well too
SM NU: meeps 60-40 Lax - ISYN!!! both fpoa lads both beats, could go either way, but i think meeps is just a little bit more creative than lax and he'll surprise him with some unmon that has great matchup vs lax
SM NU: meeps 60-40 Hootie - i think (once again) meeps creativity will give him the upper hand here. hootie is no person to mess around with but his teams so far have been pretty standard and while that's nothing bad, i think that meeps' versatility will get him the game sealed
SM NU: Kushalos 60-40 Yui. - not really sure, neither player has impressed me that much in SM NU but i know that kushalos has access and can build a wide variety of teams in NU and isn't scared to use something wild. Yui on the other hand has only built standard teams to my knowledge and i think kush's teamtour experience pushes him over the edge here
SM NU: Kushalos 35-65 Eternally - eternally is better in SM NU i think. Kush definitely isn't bad, but Eternally is within the top 10 NU players and I dont think he's peaking now, so i dont think he's gonna fall to kushalos although if kush pulls out something wild that can counterstyle/team eternally's standard team-structure, kush can definitely pull something out of it then.
SM NU: Kushalos 45-55 Jayde - both have been getting into NU more lately and have actually shown interest, so this will probably be better than most people would expect i feel. I think jayde slightly has the upper hand in terms of general playing skills, but they're pretty on par in terms of SM NU. should be a good one
SM NU: Yui. 30-70 Eternally - i really dont see eternally losing this. he's a very good scouter and OMR really shows that he has a preferred playstyle that he swears by, so it shouldnt be hard for eternally to gain a matchup advantage and win from there.
SM NU: Yui. 40-60 Hootie - hootie is the better and more experienced player here. both build solid squads and know how to play just fine, i just think hootie is slightly better overall. i dont know OMR that well though so he very well could make some sort of an upset here.
SM NU: Eternally 60-40 elodin - i have no idea how elodin is going to play; if they trust him enough to play, he must have something under his belt. however, eternally is at his peak performance right now so i dont think anyone besides FLCL, Lax, or maybe Hootie stopping him from going undefeated here. elodin should put up a tough fight though, and if he gets the matchup advantage, he may very well take it
SM NU: elodin vs. Jayde - PLAY BW2 OU!!!1!
SM NU: elodin 60-40 Rodriblutar - i have faith in elodin. if there's one opponent he is able to beat, it's gotta be rodri.
SM NU: Jayde 38-62 FLCL - jayde is good and these two know eachother well so he can very easily get inside FLCL's head, but I think FLCL is just overall a top 3 NU player - if not the best, so he should be able to beat him. anything can happen though but FLCL is so consistent and puts out great teams so he should win
SM NU: FLCL 70-30 Rodriblutar - FLCL is just better, and i havent seen much impressive from rodri in this gen so i dont really know what to expect from him. he's really good overall though so it wont be a walk in the park for fooly, but he should still win by playing well
SM NU: Lax 53-47 Hootie - i think, while hootie has a better grasp on the tier than lax, lax's teambuilding is a bit better, so i expect to see some wild sets from lax that will surprise hootie, giving him the advantage that way. otherwise, this matchup looks pretty even and both could easily take this
SM NU: Lax 58-42 Rodriblutar - interested in what rodri brings to the table here, but once again i think lax is super solid in NU and he has been putting out consistent results so far and i think that line won't end here.

hoping to see more in-depth try hard predictions like these because they are very fun to read. As far as the tour goes, i think the '3-pools into playoffs' system is very creative but also really risky for a new tournament like this. It has the ability to completely kill the hype off of some really high-level battles purely because they're just 'one of the 150 games'. however, i think people are still recognizing the fact that there's some really solid players in this tour (not only NU, just in general) and that there's definitely matches to look forward to, and not only in playoffs. i think luigi and isa really worked out the idea perfectly so big credits to them. im surprised to see what the meta trends this cycle will be; last cycle we saw a lot of players shift away from the standard lix golbat teams and branch out more too, most notably into more offensive teams because they are really easy to build I hope to see some more balance / semi-stall teams in cycle 2 because i find them really interesting and are relatively hard to build, bbut really pay the effort that they have been put out to into building and practicing with the team.

SM NU: meeps vs. FLCL - its so hard to call FLCL, but I definetly think meeps has a shot here, I expect some hot sets friend
SM NU: meeps vs. Lax - both great players but I think meeps is just the overall more solid one
SM NU: meeps vs. Hootie - This should be a really interesting game. Eternally showed that hooties standard builds are pretty exploitable, and I think meeps can take that as an opportunity and win.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Yui. - knowing how good of a player Kush is, its hard to give the old man the edge, but i saw some improvements in yui's last game and if he stays on that wave he can definetly win this.
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Eternally - Eternally is just more invested into NU and I think that he can keep up his win streak against kush
SM NU: Kushalos vs. Jayde - Kushalos looks to have more NU experience and good teams, so he should be able to pull this W off.
SM NU: Yui. vs. Eternally - not sure how hard it is to ct someone thats known for using memes, but I think this game should be very interesting if both players play lile they did in their last snake game.
SM NU: Yui. vs. Hootie - giving hootie the slight edge here, hootie is more known and more experienced but i think people have been underestimating the old man a lot.
SM NU: Eternally vs. elodin - no explanations here, idek elodin
SM NU: elodin vs. Jayde - the fact that 2 not nuers face of makes me sad
SM NU: elodin vs. Rodriblutar - rodri has played some great nu games this gen, and definetly more than elodin, so going with him
SM NU: Jayde vs. FLCL - FLCL is one of the best NU players, and players in general, the quality of his teams has been high, so of everything is like last round, FLCL goes undefeated again
SM NU: FLCL vs. Rodriblutar - same as Jayde vs FLCL.
SM NU: Lax vs. Hootie - another really interesting game, I give the TL the edge here although its literally like 49:51 imo
SM NU: Lax vs. Rodriblutar - Lax has been playing more nu, also has been playing better and he builds hot teams, so i am looking forward to this one

i tried to write some stuff down, though my opinion and view might not be as educated as shades, i tried my best lmao

you guys underestimate Jayde and Yui too much. Yui's a PO NU goat and Jayde used to play NU and has been a good player since way before you all joined this site.

SM NU: elodin vs. Jayde - the fact that 2 not nuers face of makes me sad
This is for you and the others who show similar thoughts. "nuers" and "nu mainers" is so easily thrown around when it means jack shit in any important settings. You don't "main" a tier, you just happen to play it more than most other people. It doesn't take a genius to understand the basics of SM NU and its dynamics. All you need is to be a decent-good player and the desire to learn a new metagame to perform well.

If anything, be happy you get to see how some of these "unknown to the nu roomtours" players approach the neverused tier.
