Amoonguss is a solid pokemon with massive hp and great defenses and has access to regenerator. But sometime we forget that it has decent SpA as well.

Set Comments:
Hits a lot of pokemon hard with stab sludge bomb while also dealing with water types much better with specs giga drain, which will allow it to recover more HP. Works well in a trick room team, also has spore just because it is nice to have something asleep. Hidden Power Ice is for pokemon such as Zapdos, SpD Gligar , and Shaymin. Hidden Power Fire can also be use to deal with Substitute Charge Beam Magneton, Shaymin, Registeel, Bronzong, and even Cobalion.
[Additional Comments] Giga Drain nearly OHKOs Suicune, 2hko SpD blastoise and Milotic, and has a chance to 2hko Empoleon. Sludge Bomb does massive amount to fire types who often switch in, and OHKO's incoming Weavile.
[Teammates and Counters]
Works well with trick room Slowking/Slowbro. Amoonguss has the potential to take out a lot of walls in UU since alot are water type. It can put them to sleep, hit them with stab giga drain, and can HP Fire the steel types. It can work well with normal type walls such as snorlax and thick fat miltank as they take care of each other's weaknesses. Because it is weak to psychic amoonguss works well with umbreon as amoonguss can also sponge fighting attacks because of its poison typing.
Chandelure resists both Amoonguss stabs and can only be spored- So it checks Amoonguss nicely. Arcanine and Darmanitan can threaten with flare blitz but they have to watch for sludge bomb if its not a free switch. Weavile can also threaten with Ice Punch, but it has to watch out for sludge bomb as well.
