Spinda

Spinda @ Leftovers
Modest, Own Tempo
252 Speed, 252 SpA, 4 HP
~ Calm Mind
~ Swift/Psychic
~ Shadow Ball
~ HP Fightning/Baton Pass/Hypnosis

Suicune v2, with a twist. With that bulk not much can hurt you, so simply come in on a attacker, and laugh as those Heatran Fire Blasts and Ononokusu Outrages only tickle. After 1 or 2 Calm Minds not much can stand up to you. With Hypnosis you can potentially sleep a counter (catching Blissey on the switch and getting an extra CM is nice), but the accuracy might let you down more often than you think. HP Fightning gives you more coverage, but Baton Passing +2 SpA and SpDef to a Latias late game basically means GG. Leftovers for survivability.

Spinda @ Choice Band
Adamant, Own Tempo
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
~ Trick
~ Double-Edge
~ Sucker Punch
~ Wild Bolt/Fire Punch/Ice Punch

Your standard CBer. Can rip holes in your opponent's teams, allowing other Pokemon to sweep easily.

Spinda @ Life Orb
Naughty, Own Tempo
252 Speed, 200 Attack, 56 SpA
~ Cheer Up
~ Double-Edge
~ Wild Bolt
~ HP Fightning

Doesn't perform so well versus offensive teams, but can wreck stall.

Assist Gimmick

Spinda @ Lefties/Scarf
Contrary
watever evs and nature u want
~ Assist
~ Hypnosis
~ Rock Slide
! Wish
! Protect
! Fake Out
! Baton Pass

Assist with V-Create and Superpower on the team. Wish for recovery, Protect for safety's sake, Fake Out for priority/lead goodness, BP for passing the benefits off in an emergency

Spinda @ Leftovers (Contrary)
- Wish
- Assist
- Protect
- Filler

Smeargle @ Anything
- Superpower
- V-Create

Yeah these kind of teams are surprisingly effective. Don't be surprised if they get the Moody treatment.

It's hardly the same...at all. Spinda can't stall with Sub+Protect while it builds up auto-boosts simultaneously, not to mention that your team options are limited since Assist is so unreliable otherwise.

It's a lot of fun to see Spinda kill stuff, though :)

^ Agreeing completely, no serious player would use something like that for reasons already stated. You leave that to someone in youtube looking for subs.
Talking about Spinda itself it got nothing between Gens and is still as trollish as ever.
It has a great DW ability and lliterally no move to use it.
A great Movepool and no base stats to use (again).
I guess there is nothing here, we have so many better choices that do whatever job so much better than spinda.

You can make Assist more reliable by having a Smeargle with the moves you want to assist, and everything else with Dragon Tail/Circle Throw...

Point of Assist teams are to fill teammates up with the Assisted moves (Super power, V-generate), and then simply make the teammates have non-Assistable moves like Focus Punch, Dragon tail.

do you really, really want to make spinda be the highlight of an otherwise crappy team?

I mean if your opponent sees spinda in team preview, the only thing they can expect is that you'll lead with it, meaning a swift OHKO will follow.

Serious players, frankly, do not use spinda.

Xatu is better than Wigglytuff thanks to Magic Mirror, and can at times be better than Magic Guard Clefable as well.

Back to Spinda...

What if it had a Choice Scarf and the ability everyone likes, and Draco meteor... Bam!

*chansey>blisseycresselia>clefable>wigglytuff>xatu>tabunne>musharna>Delibird>spinda. Just saying.
Not really, no. Blissey takes barely any more damage than Eviolite Chansey, has better offensive stats, and completely negates the damage difference by being able to hold Leftovers.

Teeter Dance could work. It has 100% accuracy so it is more reliable than Swagger's 90% accuracy. When confused, its foe only has a 50% chance of hurting Spinda! It would be a perfect chance to use Wish or Assist in the hopes of boosting defenses. Of course, Spinda will need a Focus Sash so that it can get away with using the move. All the Pokémon with Own Tempo have better options. Of course, it relies on luck.

I'm not sure why people are so concerned about the competitive aspects of Spinda. It seems perfectly great for someone who just wants to mess around and have some fun. No one should expect Spinda teams to make it to the top of the ladder.

Spinda with a life orb trick/double edge/flail/wish spindas recoil form DE and LO make it go to low health quickly then you could get rid of LO to get a leftovers then flail a problem with this is that the waddling panda is too slow and can't be utilized either cause he has crap defences but it works in game unless you have a baton pass team that has a gorebyss with both defence boosters (iron defence and anmesia) and agility it may work.

Spinda doesnt shine in singles... it shines in triple battles with slaking.
spinda
@ jolly ability:contrary
choice scarf evs: 252 speed 252 defense 4
skill swap
trick
wish
hypnosis

Spinda get the hell out if you survive and just start tickling slaking stats with other pokes. You might be able to trick the scarf on something later.

Spinda does not get skillswap and contrary together as skill swap is gen IV, thus, in a multibattle you'd need to have the pokemon in question skillswap THEN set up with a close combat or something. Not practical because the pokemon in question will need to be super bulky to waste a turn setting up like that, and Spinda is so easy to kill with its horrible speed and defenses, so there's even a chance your skillswap could fail. Shuckle is more suited as a contrary skillswapper for this kind of role.

But for it to be worthwhile, Shuckle needs to get a decent ability to replace contrary. And shuckle is easily shutdown with taunt.

Role Play is the better option, you could run roleplay Deoxys and do Psycho Boost, Role Play mew, and run Overheat. Or Role Play Ninetails. Or Primeape. Or Role Play + Close Combat Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan. Role Play + Leafstorm Meganium. Hounudoom's too frail to do roleplay + overheat. Role Play + Leafstorm Celebi. Role Play + Draco Meteor Latios/Latias. Lucario is too frail to run CC + RP. Almost the same with Gallade.

But again, that's quite a risky set up, even on those pokemon that are relatively bulky (it's hard to be bulky in multibattles). Especially with common threats now like beat up + justified or even something as simple as scarfed typhlosion. You can't really waste a turn just so you can set up the next turn. If Spinda learned Skill Swap, this would be a little different, but not by much.
