Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
1-) Splash Dragapult + Blacephalon Ghost (I like the combination, it will be fun)
2-) Maroon Melmetal + Celesteela Steel (I see power, disaster and good victories strong core)
+
We started out with a powerful offensive core, but we were still missing one of the staples on ghost. Adding Sableye was a no-brainer. Its utility is truly unmatched in monotype, and its typing is great for taking on opposing Dark- and Ghost-types.
+
Mimikyu is an amazing revenge killer and late game sweeper thanks to its ability Disguise along with Shadow Sneak. Its fairy typing can also help with Dark-types. We decided to run Drain Punch to help deal with Steel-types such as Ferrothorn.
+
Corsola-galar forms a great defensive core with Sableye and can offer the one piece of utility Sableye can't: Stealth Rock.
+
For our final Pokemon, we went with Gengar. Its high speed and poison typing make it great for taking on Fairy types, such as Diance-mega and Clefable, that our team struggled with.
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Healing Wish
- U-turn
- Trick
+
We started out with a hard hitting offensive core, so we decided to make the team hyper offensive. Heatran is a staple on Steel-type teams for its fire immunity. We went with an offensive EV spread on a standard Stealth Rock set. Stone Edge allows Heatran to KO Volcarona, a Pokemon that would otherwise sweep most Steel-type teams.
+
Klefki is an amazing utility pokemon with access to Prankster. Light Screen and Reflect make our sweeps last longer, and Thunder Wace can act as speed control.
+
Mawile is a hard hitting Pokemon with a relevant typing and access to priority in the form of Sucker Punch.
+ /
At first we added bisharp. It formed a priority core with Mawile, and its ability Defiant formed an anti-defog synergy with Klefki. However, we lacked a pokemon with a high speed stat. Jirachi alleviated our need-for-speed, and brought useful utility in the form of Trick and Healing Wish.
While Calyrex Icerider is here, I see no reason not to run this Pokemon on Ice- and Psychic-type teams because of its immensive power. It is OHKOd by heavy-heavy-attackers like Choice Band Urshifu/Cinderace but BU on both is very common. Caly has the capabilities of sweeping a lot but everything gets chipped down, so why not just bring it back in with full health via Healing Wish from Hatterene or Jirachi (or even both)! Everything is adjustable expect bolded content.
Calyrex-Ice @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: As One (Glastrier)
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe - Trick Room
- Close Combat
- Glacial Lance
- Swords Dance
Tapu Lele is freed and it's looking pretty tame in comparison to SM because of all the nerfs Terrain in general received. I think it would be fun to build a Psychic team around Choice Specs Tapu Lele to further try out how it would fare. The first three moves are self explanatory, the last move can be Psyshock for Blissey, Thunderbolt for Corviknight and Celesteela, or Trick for walls.
Before Eleki is banned I thought it would be cool to explore the limits of just how stupid Electric Terrain can be while Extender is still out. For this I've gone with an offensive partnership of Regieleki and Xurkitree in the mold of the oldstyle DragMag builds.
Between Lightningrod, Motor Drive, and Volt Absorb, the only relevant mons outside of Ground immune to Electric are:
Thundurus-T, Lanturn, Zeraora, and Marowak-Alola, all of which are either themselves Electric or relatively niche mons on their respective types, as Lanturn is generally restricted to stall and Marowak-A is outclassed by Blacephalon. Having lost access to Tail Glow and z-Moves, Xurkitree would appear to have fallen further down the pecking order of Electric's best abusers. However, when placed behind a teammate with greater damage output than Band Dracovish, I believe this tandem should be very fun to abuse in the present shitstorm.
Pheromosa @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Triple Axel
- Throat Chop
As long as these mons are usable, I think they make a pretty nasty offensive pivot core on Bug teams. Genesect has a respectable Speed tier for a Scarfer, outspeeding Scarfers like Hydreigon and Tapu Lele that usually prove to be problematic. You can mix and match its coverage depending on which specific targets you want to hit(BoltBeam coverage is solid for pressuring Flying teams, but Flamethrower provides more backup for the Steel matchup). Pheromosa is nearly unwallable with its Choice Band variant, only really being stopped by Toxapex and maybe Galarian Weezing, but it can't come in on Triple Axel too many times. Adamant can give you Attack boosts after each kill for more steamrolling potential, but a Jolly nature can let you outspeed and kill unboosted Dragapult, as well as base 80 Scarf mons. Bug has more than enough options to properly support this core, so it'll be nice forming a team around this.
With Damp Rock now allowed, Tornadus-T gets several turns of 100% accurate hurricanes which makes it a very powerful set-up sweeper/wallbreaker. Pelipper can set rain for ya then pivot out. There are a lot of different options on flying to put around this core so I would like to see what becomes of it.
I've been having a ton of fun with meteor beam nihilego on rock in the first couple of days and I was wondering how poison could support it, I've chosen nidoking here as naganadel is fucking boring and nihi really struggles with steel types, which Nido is really nice vs.
Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
Coverage can change as needed, poison finally having rocks is nice. Evs on nihi are to get the speed boost after a kill, allowing it to snowball effectively
Stakataka @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Body Press
Who needs Attack when you can sweep teams using Body Press? This set aims to destroy teams using Body Press and Stakataka big Defense stat, Beast Boost boosts its Defense when Stakataka KOes another Pokémon, Choice Band boosts Body Press and other attacking moves. The EVs and the rest of the moveset can be changed.
Regidrago has a couple uses in a Dragon team, my favorite being screens setter. Due to Regidragos natural bulk he almost always gets a Reflect or Light Screen, usually both. Once you've accomplished that you can spam Dragons Energy is you have good HP left, or Dragon Claw as a second option. While Regidrago gets walled by fairys right now, a switch to Duraladon or Dragalgae is usually safe with Screens up. If no Fairy comes out, its Garchomps turn to shine. Band Scale Shot does a lot, and after a few speed increases, Gar becomes very speedy, Screens from Regi help it to get the first couple Scale Shots succesfully, making it easier for Gar to Snowball.
