Welcome to the first edition of the Over Used Community Create-A-Team (or CCAT). The objective of this is to build a competitive viable SS OU team that can be used effectively in the current metagame. We'll go through each team slot initially, providing sets and explaining why they would fit on the team. After sets have been posted, we'll vote for which set we think would be best suited for the team. Once we've done this for all six teamslots, we'll go through and fix any issues the team had initially. Three cheers for teamwork!

Rules:
  • Please refrain from posting bad or "gimmick" sets. Innovation is fine, but I reserve the right to exclude objectively bad sets from voting.
  • When posting a Pokemon, post it with a moveset, and a few sentences of description on why you think it fits the team and why you chose the moveset you chose.
  • When voting, explanations of votes are nice but not required.
  • Feel free to discuss other submissions, but please only refute others' sets with solid reasoning (as opposed to "I hate Landorus-Therian so I don't want to include it").
  • Remember that this team is for the [Gen 8] Over Used format. Any pokemon that are NOT available in this format will not be included. I don't want to see a Dracovish or Cinderace being posted here.
  • Make sure to keep in mind the rest of the team while suggesting partners! Dont suggest a random pokemon just because you like it, make sure it fits in the team.
  • Have fun!

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Hex

dragapult is a very effective wallbreaker in the metagame, allowing itself to abuse the scarcity of metagame ghost resists. ghost is a fantastic offensive typing for this reason, and its best trait. not only that, but it fits on a variety of voltturn cores and appreciates extra status to power up hex, making it incredibly dominant paired with the above traits and wallbreaking power it offers. who will be dragapult's bff?

This project looks like a super fun way to get the community working together on something, so I'll throw something into the mix of my own!

Weavile @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Triple Axel
- Ice Shard

SD Weavile is one of the coolest win conditions in the tier currently, armed with a brutal dual STAB combination with Knock Off and a phenomenal speed tier with a great priority option that assuredly covers the difference against most of the tier's faster Pokemon, such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Dragapult, as well as Zeraora and Tapu Koko once chipped. I think this would be a super fun Pokemon to build around, as it's a Pokemon that encourages a lot of interesting routes to open its endgame since it mainly benefits from Toxapex and Corviknight pressure (which can be accomplished in a myriad of unique way) and can be enabled on different team archetypes due to its polarity.

Abhi's back with the heat as usual. Lemme contribute something.

:ss/landorus-therian:
Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- U-turn
Went for the obvious pick. Every team needs a Lando in their life, and this one is no exception. Serving as a volt immune, ground immune, pivot, and rocks setter all at once, Lando provides godlike utility and role compression that no other mon can compete with. It runs Toxic > Knock for common defoggers such as Mandi and Zap, and bulky defensive mons such as Tang and Slowking, to put them on a timer and limit how long they can stay in consistently walling before they're forced to switch out. Not only that, when paired with the Spexhex Pult set posted above by Toaster, passing around poisons makes it easier for Pult to Hex sweep the opp late game. Lando also synergizes well with the Weavile set posted above by ausma, since common defoggers get nuked by SD Weav's Triple Axel, meaning Lando will be able to keep rocks up and limits the amount of switch ins to EQ they have. Lando runs 24 speed to outspeed mons such as 64 speed Fini, 60 speed Washtom, and 252 speed adamant Ttar. What Lando does for the team is compress lots of different crucial roles for the team while also maintaining an offensive presence, with Intimidate to weaken physical attacks on the spot and maintaining momentum with U-turn. Overall a pick that can't be frowned upon, would highly suggest using it for this team.

:Melmetal:
Melmetal @ Protective Pads
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 104 SpD / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Thunder Punch
- Superpower
- Thunder Wave

With anything to help chip Landorus-Therian or bulky Garchomp, this set is magnificent. Thunder Wave makes it so that the pesky, increasingly common Skarmory and Corviknight with a ton of physical bulk and potentially Iron Defense will not be capable of checking you after being Thunder Waved on the switch-in. This also catches Volcarona, bulky Water types not named Swampert or Gastrodon, and RH Tangrowth to potentially improve your match-up there, especially when paired with Double Iron Bash. Finally, you can run less speed due to paralysis support, which helps you tank specific special attacks.

Overall, this Melmetal works on a wide array of balance and bulky-offensive teams and would be a good centerpiece.

Kyurem @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power
- Substitute
- Roost

One of my favorite sets I've been using it since the dlc2 dropped and it put some good results
This set pp stalls most bulky walls in the meta that can't break its sub such as non body press ferrothorn blissey speaking of this set uses 56 HP EVs to live blissey's seismic toss

:ss/zeraora:
Zeraora @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Knock Off
- Close Combat
- Volt Switch

Zeraora is the fastest viable Pokemon in the metagame, capable of generating momentum through Volt Switch, pressuring some defensive Pokemon like Corviknight, Slowking, and Mandibuzz, being the only viable Pokemon that revenge kills Dragapult without locking into a move, providing defensive utility through Knock Off and blocking opposing Volt Switches, and in many cases forcing in Ground-types and crippling them by removing their items. What Pokemon can benefit from these traits the most, and how can you take advantage of the Pokemon it draws in?

Sup everyone!
I wanted to shoutout this specs kyurem set, that was just waiting in the shadows , and has finally made it to ou (after dropping all the way to *ru*)after the magearna ban. This set is capable of one shotting a good chunk of the metagame and is famed for destroying defensive cores lacking a dedicated check. Lando, tang, pex, fini, heatran, mandi, zapdos, torn, rill, nido, ferro are just a few victims of its ferocious attacks.
Although it is weak to rocks, it makes up for it by getting a ko every time it comes in. A few checks to it are spedef clef and corv, both of which get 2 shot after chip. Spedef scizor is the only one capable of handling it(checks also vary depending on coverage). It needs draco, ice beam and freeze dry, but the last slot is a toss between fb or ep. All in all, this is one mon you should def put on your threat list.

Another thing, modest is an option for nature , but I prefer timid as it outspeeds Nido, jolly rill, drill, and max speed Lando(there's nothing worse than losing an ice type to Lando believe me)
Good day everyone!

Victini @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Glaciate

Boots Victini is a really cool underrated pick in the current meta, being a super strong Fire-type with good coverage and pivoting. It's a solid balance breaker with ways to punch holes through Toxapex, Clefable, Corviknight, Landous-T, etc. with Bolt Strike V-create and Glaciate, and U-turn to get out of bad situations with momentum is always good for something that is only somewhat fast but not the fastest. I think it's something that we can support fairly well with good defensive cores and some speed control / pivoting to get it in to wallbreak quite a bit, and would be a really fun thing to build around and explore. Jolly Glaciate still 2HKO's Landorus-T so I don't think you need to drop defenses for that, and the rest is just a fairly standard Victini. Post bans of Cinderace, Spectrier, Urshifu, and others, I think Victini has only slowly gotten better so now could be its time to shine and it would be interesting to try and work around.

Hello there :afrostar:

Really cool submissions!!
Time to vote,

The voting system used is the Ranked Pairs format (the same as CAP uses). To vote you basically order your options like this: C>B>A>D, like this A>B=C>D, or like this D>C, assuming there are 4 partner options (A, B, C, and D). If you choose not to vote for all partners, the last partner(s) will be assumed to be last and valued equally if more than one got left out. Additionally, don't vote for your own submission. If you have any questions, by all means, ask me.

Dragapult @ Leftovers
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Substitute
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Dragon Darts
Dragapult is a good melm partner in general but this set helps it spread status and deal with other mons melm hates

Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Future Sight
- Teleport

Slowking is a great partner to melmetal due to future sight support, it can also safely bring melmetal in via teleport. Slowking can also help with scald to cripple opponents so it is easier to break through them and bring melmetal in. Slowking provides melmetal with a fire and fighting resist. It also has decent sp def to compensate for melmetals weak sp def stat that can be taken advantage off by pokemon to hit it much harder. Melmetal provides slowking with a bug, and grass resist and can take on neatral moves such as knock off, crunch, and weak moves such as clefable's thunderbolt, def zapdos thunderbolt, and dragapult's thunderbolt.
