This week is... Corviknight!!
:ss/corviknight:
Corviknight @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Press / Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

Corviknight has soared the skies of OU in its little taxi ever since it was released back in 2019 (thats longer than ive been playing comp holy shit) and has been a corner stone of OU ever since. Its amazing presence has lead to the surge in usage for Magnezone (among other reasons). This metal bird walls many, like Kartana, Rillaboom and Weavile (coincidentally all of which can run Swords Dance to brute force through it). But that said what exactly can correctly bait in this bird and then easily dispose of it?

You have 5 days to post a lure
Have fun!!

:bw/landorus-therian:
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Smack Down
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

While usually outshined by garchomp and its defensive counterpart, this set can be a nightmare to face for most corviknight balances, since it setup effortlessely in its face even if it carries iron defense, and shackles it to the ground with smack down only to crack the metal bird with its mighty earthquake, so it acts as one of the best lures to the bird

I COULD BE BANNED!

Garchomp @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fire Fang
- Scale Shot
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

I'm just gonna go with the most obvious no brainer. Chomp sds up as Corvi comes in, fire fangs it and it will die eventually. This doesn't really sacrifice much since this is what you can expect Garchomp to run and Corvi is one of the few defensive answers to it. Life orb if on hyper offense and leftovers on any non hyper offense

Hey there! I don't like metal birds, the're coarse and rough and irritating and they get everywhere. My lure is -
:ss/Landorus-Therian:

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Weather Ball

I'm sure you already see where this is going, my idea is to run this bad boy on a sun team, and lure in :Corvisquire: , weather ball cleanly 2HKOes it, and it can still break special walls, coz it's still an sd Lando. It also works vs :Tangela:, :Skarmory: , :Ferroseed: etc.
(I am aware this is the same mon as Shadesan , but I think different sets are allowed, kindly lmk if the're not, I shall change the submission)

Once again, the credit for this idea *indirectly* goes to the :Gogoat: Abhi , yes I'm obsessed with this individual, how could you tell??

Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Psychic

Corviknight can usually scout what tapu lele goes for, since focus blast does 60 MAX so it can just switch out. But what if that was not an option, since corviknight hard drops to thunder and tapu lele can easily lure it in and drop it since in a 1v1 corviknight can roost spam focus blasts easily.

Here’s a cool set I’ve been using recently:
:ss/urshifu-rapid-strike:
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Leftovers / Weakness Policy
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 188 Atk / 68 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet / Thunder Punch
- Bulk Up
This set allows Urshifu-Rapid-Strike to live 3 max roll Brave Birds from Corviknight (+1 on the switch, +2 on the first Brave Bird, +3 on the second, +4 on the third) then OHKO it back with Close Combat or Surging Strikes at +4. Assuming Leftovers is the item of choice, you have a great chance to live another max roll Garchomp / Landorus-Therian Earthquake.

0 Atk Corviknight Brave Bird vs. +2 0 HP / 68 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 108-128 (31.6 - 37.5%) -- 82.5% chance to 3HKO
0 Atk Corviknight Brave Bird vs. +3 0 HP / 68 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 86-104 (25.2 - 30.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
0 Atk Corviknight Brave Bird vs. +4 0 HP / 68 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 72-86 (21.1 - 25.2%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO
+4 188 Atk Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 390-460 (97.5 - 115%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. +3 0 HP / 68 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 51-60 (14.9 - 17.5%) -- possible 6HKO
252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. +3 0 HP / 68 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 46-55 (13.4 - 16.1%) -- possible 7HKO

A set that's become infamous by now, but absolutely deserves mentioning:

:ss/(Dragonite):
Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch

Most Corviknight will switch in expecting the standard coverage of Earthquake+Wingbeat or even only Wingbeat, but they really can't do much to Dragonite as it continues boosting and snatches a 2HKO with Fire Punch (especially Body Press variants, those are pure setup fodder). From that point on, if the opponent lacks Weavile or some other Ice Shard user, it's most likely game, set, match right then and there.

+2 252 Atk Dragonite Fire Punch vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 250-296 (62.5 - 74%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 Atk Dragonite Fire Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Corviknight: 240-284 (60 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (In case of SpDef-oriented variants)

0 Atk Corviknight Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Multiscale Dragonite: 60-71 (18.5 - 21.9%) -- possible 5HKO

168+ Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Multiscale Dragonite: 20-23 (6.1 - 7.1%) -- possibly the worst move ever
( 12.3 - 14.5% after Multiscale breaks)

Now 100% more demonic
:ss/tangrowth:
Tangrowth @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe (can also use more bulk if you want)
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Nature Power

Usually, Tangrowth runs Giga Drain / Focus Blast / Knock Off for its attacking moves, meaning Corviknight doesn't take any damage from it, only fearing sleep that Tangrowth will usually want to save for something more threatening. When paired with Tapu Koko, Choice Specs Tangrowth turns that around, and it outspeeds:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Thunderbolt vs 252 HP / 88 SpD Corviknight in Electric Terrain: 386-456: (96.5 - 114%) - 81.3% chance to OHKO

While it doesn't possess Tangrowth's usual defensive utility, Choice Specs Tangrowth is a surprisingly strong breaker that can catch stuff that doesn't expect the power off guard and has appeared a few times in tournaments.

:ss/Ribombee:

:Corviknight: sure stinks, but our little hero is able to defeat one of its (probably) natural predators in the Pokémon world.
You heard it here folks, :Volcarona:'s little sister has a few tricks up its sleeve.
Generally Ribombee is used as a Sticky web setter, and while it's unfortunately a playstyle that has fallen out of favor, this little bee could lure and break through Corviknight or at the very least will get off its Sticky Webs successfully.

Ribombee @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sweet Veil
EVs: 192 Def / 228 SpA / 88 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Stun Spore
- Sticky Web
- Fake Tears
(Ev spread lives boots Weavile triple axel, runs enough special attack to OHKO it back, and runs enough speed to outspeed max speed + nature base 100's)

Without sacrificing much, you can fit Fake tears onto Ribombee's moveset thus allowing it to beat Corviknight and prevent it from spamming Defog
This will allow Ribombee to heavily debilitate stinky defoggers- most importantly Corviknight by paralyzing them and threatening to kill them to keep its webs up for its precious teammates whether it's by forcing the Corviknight to kill you if it's a Brave bird set, or forcing it to switch out meaning you can spread more paralysis for more havoc especially against those stinky boots users.

252 SpA Ribombee Moonblast vs. -6 252 HP / 88 SpD Corviknight: 258-304 (64.5 - 76%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

With Ribombee's unqiue typing of Fairy/Bug, this allows it to take minimal damage from Body press from Stinkyknight-- While like mentioned earlier forcing the enemy to respond and kill you if they're carrying Brave bird.

168+ Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ribombee: 29-34 (11.1 - 13%) -- possible 8HKO

Underratedness is overrated
If they can run it on weather teams so can I!

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sunny Day
- Weather Ball
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power

This set plays the facade of a SubRoost Kyurem. Clearly it is not. The plan here is to Sunny Day on the switch to Corviknight, and then weather ball and kill it.

200 SpA Life Orb Kyurem Weather Ball (100 BP Fire) vs. 252 HP / 88 SpD Corviknight in Sun: 426-502 (106.5 - 125.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

There's also the option of Roost or Ice Beam and running it on the a sun team, in which I will provide a set for but I am SICK of sun teams after playing VGC a bunch so that's pretty much the reason it's not the primary.

Bisharp @ Chople Berry
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 28 Def / 228 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Corviknight is usually one's team's answer to Bisharp, amongst other things. Bisharp is especially relevant because Corviknight is a Defogger and thus needs to be wary of clicking the move when Bisharp is around not to give him free SD. However, Corviknight has a weapon to swiftly deal with Bisharp and makes it a reliable Defogger even against Bisharp teams: Body Press. Taking advantage of Bisharp's x4 weakness to Fighting, Corviknight keeps it in check quite nicely and also prevents it from trying to take advantage of Defog attempts.
All you need to turn this glaring weakness into your opponent's downfall is Chople Berry. With it, Corviknight suddenly doesn't OHKO with Body Press and actually loses in in-battle scenarios. Bisharp is easy to position with pivoting moves and is especially vicious with Slowking (just to name an example). If Bisharp is positioned against a threat it scares out, it can freely SD up on the upcoming Corviknight and proceed to hit a Knock Off to weaken the Corviknight while surviving the Body Press. This also comes into play if you predict Corviknight's Defog correctly and position yourself with a somewhat healthy +2 Bisharp vs a healthy Corviknight, a winning scenario if you run Chople Berry. If you're at max health, you'll win this exchange even if Corviknight's Body Press crits. Even if you can't really achieve this circumstances, you can still SD up against Corviknight and threaten a Knock Off, weakening Corviknight to a point where it's an easy meal for a teammate.

As I said earlier, Corviknight is tasked with A LOT of threats, not just Bisharp, so this simple tech can be utilized to crack Corviknight open with Bisharp for a teammate to sweep, without sacrificing your Bisharp and his valuable Sucker Punch priority. Losing Black Glasses sucks especially for Sucker Punch, but if the tradeoff is removing a key threat for one of your team members to easily clean up, it's 100% worth it.

+2 252+ Atk Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 253-298 (63.2 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Bisharp Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 169-201 (42.2 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO (no item)
168+ Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 28 Def Chople Berry Bisharp: 150-178 (55.3 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
168+ Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 28 Def Chople Berry Bisharp on a critical hit: 226-266 (83.3 - 98.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (actually 12 Defense EVs are enough to unsure it doesn't OHKO)

28 Defense EVs are for this calc. You can tweak EVs as much as you want or keep a plain and simple 252/4/252 spread.
252 Atk Zeraora Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 28 Def Chople Berry Bisharp: 228-270 (84.1 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

:ss/tornadus-therian:
Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 92 SpD / 168 Spe
Timid Nature
- Heat Wave
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Taunt

So normally Tornadus-T invites Corviknight with Hurricane and there's not much that it can do while Corviknight drains out PP because of Pressure and is able to remove hazards in its side, however with Heat Wave you are able to deal a decent amount of damage towards Corviknight, especially since Hurricane these days have the same targets and a better accuracy and hitting a lot more now like Steel-types except Heatran. With Taunt you deny Corviknight from recovering with Roost and removing hazards, and cannot really do much besides spam Brave Bird which weakens it greatly and putting in range for other attacks, Body Press does nothing. Tornadus-T can also remove items from Coviknight while Corviknight doesn't really care could be helpful for it's allies such as those that can punish by making contact from Rocky Helmet and any extra recovery from Leftovers making it easier to wear down with Taunt and chip.

EVs: 252 HP / 164 SpA / 92 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder
This is a clefable set I feel can be a good lure for corvikinght. This is a set using stray thunder in order to 2 hit ko corvikinght. This set can easily lure in and kill corvikinght especially during the mid and late game of a battle because by that time your opponent would’ve already seen that this clefable set is using rocks so they wouldn’t mind switching corv into it to defog. This set’s evs are meant to be able to 2hit ko corvikinght without any calm mind boosts. The rest of the evs I dumped into spedef in order to check dragapult and kyurem better.

Blaziken @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Flamethrower
- Fire Blast
- Aura Sphere
- Scorching Sands

Special Blaziken is quite a surprise , The trainer would like to use brave bird KO it and tanking its physical fire type moves , but the special attack take it by surprise and OHKO the Corviknight . This also works as a good special sweeper with nice SPa & Speed boost , Flame thrower for more accuracy & fire blast give more power . Aura sphere is a nice STAB . Scorching Sand for coverage

:ss/Buzzwole:

Buzzwole @ Coba Berry
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Corviknight is usually a solid switch in to Buzzwole, being able to tank hits from HDB sets and scouting CB variants, threatening the OHKO back with Brave Bird. The idea of this set is to Bulk Up on the Corv switch, tank the Brave Bird with Coba Berry after using Bulk Up a second time, then force the opponent to sack a mon, usually Corv, in order to revenge kill Buzzwole. Basically you lure in Corv and use it as setup fodder to force a KO. CC, Ice Punch and EQ are pretty standard coverage for Buzzwole, allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO the entire metagame bar Slowbro and enemy Buzzwole at +2. Coba Berry also comes in handy in other situations, allowing Buzzwole to beat mons it would usually lose to such Hawlucha, Dragonite and Aerial Ace Kartana. The above spread is designed to allow Buzzwole to take an uninvested Hurricane from pivot Torn-T at full while preserving as much health as possible to help with physical threats. All you really lose out on by running this set is HDB or Rocky Helmet, and in addition to luring Corv, Buzzwole also gains the ability to take on a few other mons with Flying moves. Obviously this set is less likely to lure Body Press Corv, but they may still switch in trying to bluff Brave Bird and threaten Buzzwole out.
Calcs:
+2 252+ Atk Buzzwole Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 339-399 (84.7 - 99.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock (this becomes almost guaranteed with Brave Bird recoil)
0 Atk Corviknight Brave Bird vs. +2 32 HP / 0 Def Coba Berry Buzzwole: 86-104 (23.6 - 28.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 32 HP / 224 SpD Coba Berry Buzzwole: 306-362 (84.2 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

With a mon like Corviknight, it can wall everything and everything while being able to recover HP with Roost. But, Corviknight becomes a sitting duck when it loses the ability to restore HP.

Introducing...

IMPRISON ROOST KYUREM

Kyurem @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Imprison
- Roost
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power

Despite losing Substitute to wall Blissey, Imprison is a niche substitute to Substitute to punish mons such as Corviknight who try to Roost on it. Once Imprison is active, it makes Roost on Corviknight fail, leaving it to get chipped down extremely low for other mons. Other situations where this can be useful is to disallow Scizor from Roosting, which is a common switch-in to Kyurem. However, Kyurem must be weary of Bullet Punch. Imprison can also be used to beat other SubRoost Kyurems 1v1. Despite being situational, it can change the tide of battle!

Yes this is a highly unconventional set but i want earth power to ohko tran or something idk xD
basically:
tapu koko leads and u-turns into venusaur -> corv switches into venu -> venusaur uses nature power
I was originally going to sun team but they LIKELY won't use corv to wall venu on a sun team anticipating weather ball.
HP evs are to survive corv brave bird.
252+ SpA Life Orb Venusaur Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 88 SpD Corviknight in Electric Terrain: 315-372 (78.7 - 93%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Grimmsnarl @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 92 HP / 252 SpA / 164 Spe
Modest Nature
- Reflect
- Swagger
- Taunt
- Burning Jealousy
Grimmsnarl has a decent base SpA, it can be said that it is physical and special offensive although it does not have much response on that side. For this occasion with Burning Jealousy as the lure of Corkvinight. Modest +252 looking for higher damage. I'm not sure if Swagger + Burning Jealousy can 100% burn Corviknight. In any case it is better to start with Reflect since he is forced to use Brave Bird + Taunt to disable his recovery method.
252+ SpA Grimmsnarl Burning Jealousy vs. 252 HP / 88 SpD Corviknight: 140-166 (35 - 41.5%) -- 74.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
