Week 12
The victim to target this time is...........

Drapion @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off
- Earthquake / Aqua Tail
- Toxic Spikes

weezing

:ss/weezing:
Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Fire Blast

:weezing: counters drapion as it does not take much damage from any of drapions attacks. poison jab is resisted and aqua tail wont do too much as well. its a bit
annoying for weezing to loose its item via knock off but weezing in overall is a great answer as its levitate ability makes sure, that it wont even get hit by earthquake from drapion.
weezing on the other hand can will-o-wisp drapion and give it the status burn and can stay healthy due doe the option in pain split to add onto it, weezing can damage drapion
as well with its strong coverage-option in fire blast.

calcs:

252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 84-100 (25.1 - 29.9%) -- 1.9% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Drapion Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 35-42 (10.4 - 12.5%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 Atk Drapion Aqua Tail vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 52-62 (15.5 - 18.5%) -- possible 7HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

Bewear @ Lum Berry
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Double-Edge
- Drain Punch/Close Combat
- Darkest Lariat

Bewear is a Check. Bewear takes little from Drapion's STAB but Earthquake still does a chunk because it isn't a contact move. Bewear can either SD and OHKO with Close Combat or Drain Punch to get health back.

252 Atk Drapion Poison Jab vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Fluffy Bewear: 61-72 (15.9 - 18.8%) -- possible 6HKO
252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Fluffy Bewear: 37-43 (9.6 - 11.2%) -- possible 9HKO
252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Bewear: 102-121 (26.7 - 31.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Drapion Aqua Tail vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Fluffy Bewear: 46-54 (12 - 14.1%) -- possible 8HKO
+2 252 Atk Bewear Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Drapion: 220-259 (78.2 - 92.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Bewear Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Drapion: 349-412 (124.1 - 146.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bewear takes two Earthquakes from Drapion and can gain health back with Drain Punch at +2. (Max rolls will be used first turn and lowest rolls will be used second turn)

31.6(First EQ) + 26.7(Second EQ) = 58.3
100 - 58.3 = 41.7 Health left
41.7 + 38(Health recovered from Drain Punch) = 79.7
79.7 - 31.6 = 48.1 + 2 = 50.1(Drapion is at 8 Health left from Drain Punch)
Health Left = 50.1 %

Steelix @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Toxic

Steelix is a counter. immune to poison jab and toxic spikes, and can take multiple hits of either of Drapion's chosen coverage moves in earthquakes or aqua tails while threatening back with w 2HKO Earthquake. Ez

252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix: 92-110 (25.9 - 31%) -- 6.5% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Drapion Aqua Tail vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix: 84-100 (23.7 - 28.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Steelix Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Drapion: 174-206 (61.9 - 73.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

reserving vileplume
Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Strength Sap
- Sludge Bomb
- Growth

I'm nominating Vileplume as a counter against Drapion. Firstly, Vileplume tanks any attack Drapion has. A Knock Off only does approx 30% damage and Poison Jab does even less (check below for calcs). Next, Vileplume can use Strength Sap to pretty much nullify any damage Drapion is doing while pretty much recovering to full HP. While this is happening, Vileplume can set up using Growth to 2HKO or even OHKO Drapion. Finally, Vileplume also soaks up any Toxic Spikes the Drapion might've set beforehand.

Knock Off when Vileplume switches in:
252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 164+ Def Vileplume: 108-127 (30.5 - 35.9%) -- 44.7% chance to 3HKO

After a Strength Sap:
-1 252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 164+ Def Vileplume: 72-85 (20.3 - 24%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

After 2 Growths:
+2 0 SpA Vileplume Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Drapion: 133-157 (47.3 - 55.8%) -- 80.1% chance to 2HKO

tl;dr: Vileplume literally tanks anything Drapion has and can heal with Strength Sap while crippling Drapion. It can also use Drapion as set up fodder.

Mudsdale @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Body Press
-Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide/Toxic

Nominating Mudsdale as a check. Drapion scarcely scratches Mudsdale initially, even though Muds has to eat at least one hit. Mudsdale, however, has a chance to OHKO with a super effective Earthquake. Stamina factors in as well, allowing Mudsdale to avoid a knock out for the maximum 2 turns it needs to win, so long as Drapion doesn't crit.

0 Atk Mudsdale Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Drapion: 240-284 (85.4 - 101%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Drapion calcs

252 Atk Drapion Aqua Tail vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale: 116-138 (28.7 - 34.1%) -- 98.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Drapion Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale: 39-46 (9.6 - 11.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever

252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale: 65-77 (16 - 19%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale: 93-111 (23 - 27.4%) -- 62.7% chance to 4HKO

Crit calcs

252 Atk Drapion Aqua Tail vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale on a critical hit: 174-206 (43 - 50.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale on a critical hit: 141-166 (34.9 - 41%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Drapion Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale on a critical hit: 59-69 (14.6 - 17%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Mudsdale on a critical hit: 97-115 (24 - 28.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
I didn't include the calcs for Stamina because I didn't want this to be long winded, but it does help quite a bit. Mudsdale needs to survive, at most, three hits to beat Drapion, who can beat it in 3 hits but needs to crit at least twice to do so.

Nominating Gastrodon as a counter.

1593382304549.png

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Recover

Standard defensive Gastrodon can consistently switch in to Drapion and immediately threaten it out with a Scald burn or a STAB Earth Power. It resists Poison Jab, its bulk allows it to take very little from Knock Off and Earthquake, and it is immune to Aqua Tail (it is the only viable ground type in RU that is resistant to poison while also being immune or neutral to both Earthquake AND Aqua Tail.) Recover allows it to consistently restore it's HP, making it impossible for Drapion to chip down on its own accord.

Calcs:
Knock Off with Leftovers:
252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 114-135 (26.8 - 31.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Knock off without Leftovers:
252 Atk Drapion Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 76-91 (17.8 - 21.4%) -- possible 5HKO

Poison Jab:
252 Atk Drapion Poison Jab vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 46-55 (10.8 - 12.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Earthquake:
252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 78-92 (18.3 - 21.6%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

Scald:
0 SpA Gastrodon Scald vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Drapion: 102-121 (36.2 - 43%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Earth Power:
0 SpA Gastrodon Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Drapion: 228-270 (81.1 - 96%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Silvally-Fairy @ Fairy Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flame Charge
- Multi-Attack
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

Nominating Silvally-Fairy as a check. Switches in on 3/4 moves, only fearing poison jab, and uses Drapion as set-up bait if it clicks any other move. Even if you don't switch in Silvally, having it on your team makes it so the Drapion user has to play a mindgame every time s/he clicks a move.

Duraludon @ Choice Specs
Timid Nature
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Flash Cannon
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Dark Pulse

Nominating Duraludon as a check.

Duraludon can safely switch into most of Drapion's options, and threaten to drop a Draco Meteor, but if it comes into Earthquake, it has to switch out for something else.

252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Duraludon: 152-180 (54 - 64%) -- guaranteed 2HKO - Because Drapion is scarfed, Duraludon must switch out.

252 SpA Choice Specs Duraludon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Drapion: 382-450 (135.9 - 160.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO - However, if it comes into any move that's not Knock Off, it threatens to do this in return. If it comes into Knock Off, it still has a chance to KO with Draco Meteor.

252 SpA Duraludon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Drapion: 255-301 (90.7 - 107.1%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO - Acceptable odds.

Passimian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Rock Slide
- U-turn

Check. Thanks to Drapion's mixed typing of Poison/Dark, Passimian can deal good damage with Close Combat and 2HKO fellow scarfer Drapion despite it being the faster scarfer:

252 Atk Passimian Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Drapion: 169-201 (60.1 - 71.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The reason for this is because none of Drapion's attacks can 2HKO Passimian in return. Not even STAB Poison Jab. Jab is not even a guaranteed 3HKO and because of this, none of its other moves given can deal with Passimian in quick fashion:

252 Atk Drapion Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Passimian: 111-132 (32.5 - 38.7%) -- 98.6% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Drapion Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Passimian: 67-79 (19.6 - 23.1%) -- possible 5HKO
252 Atk Drapion Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Passimian: 93-110 (27.2 - 32.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Drapion Aqua Tail vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Passimian: 84-99 (24.6 - 29%) -- 99.9% chance to 4HKO
