Something fun to note about Sableye vs Starmie is that if Sableye utilizes Prankster, that activates Analytic.

Well considering it will use CM or Recover that probably won't get you too far.

I'm not sure it really needs much else. If you're running more of a balanced team, Reflect Type is reliable as hell, and it serves its purpose in beating the mons it does and absorbing status. Analytic LO hits hard, isn't spin blocked by the relevant Ghost-types, meaning it isn't a momentum drain like Driller is outside of Sand (Drill has to predict Gar on the switch, and is pretty cockblocked by Mega Sableye), making it a great choice for offence if you need hazard control.

That brings me on the the part about Starmie vs. Drill as choices for spinning. I'd say Starmie isn't just arguably better, I'd say it is pretty much unequivocally better when compared to non-Sand Rush. The speed of Starmie is really appreciated, and really, I'd rather go without hazard control or just throw on a Lati than use ScarfDrill (idk why this is still a set).

As far as coverage goes for offensive LO, Hydro and Psyshock are mandatory, of course, but I can't see much point in using Thunderbolt, seeing as Psyshock and Hydro cover many of the targets of it, though I guess hitting Manaphy, Slowbro, and Gyara/Mega Gyara for more damage could be pretty sweet. About Grass Knot, I'm not too sure about that, tbh, I haven't given it much thought and it kinda slipped my mind. HP Fire is pretty good for getting past Ferro, as being walled by that is never fun. The targets for Ice Beam are obvious and it's always handy to have Ice coverage. Dazzling Gleam is terrible imo, kinda like Dazzling Gleam Gengar.

(Sorry if I forgot a few things and this post is slightly, if not completely nonsensical I'm tired as hell lol)

I didn't mean to say it needs more, I'm just saying there's not a whole lot to discuss as it basically has the 2 sets, one of which can't really change any moves and the other has Hydro Pump and Rapid Spin pretty much locked in leaving 2 slots open for stuff like Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Psyshock, Dazzling Gleam, HP Fire and Grass Knot out of which the former 3 are usually a lot better than the latter.

Oh, I misunderstood then (don't browse and post on Smogon after going 24+ hours without sleep). Either way, this OP feels outdated and the formatting isn't the prettiest, along with that, which is what I think Kurona was getting at. Things changed since this was made, such as Aegislash being banned (which is still mentioned, along with a few irrelevant things, like Mega Gengar, Jolteon, Trev, and Roserade).
Honestly this holds true for a ton of Pokémon threads on the OU forum for things like are relevant. Magnezone, for instance.

I absolutely hate this pokemon thanks to a Japanese gamer on battle spot, it was bulky af idk where the evs where but man it put in work on me making my sweep of his whole team come crashing down. This starmie ran minimize, substitution, scald, calm mind. I never played against one before honestly didnt know it could be ran like this, watch out yall starmie means business

You know a thread is outdated when you read Mega Gengar on the 1st page... oh wow. Hopefully somewhat will be able to update this... I would love to do it myself if needed. It doesnt require any specific requirement, right?? Besides mod approval of course.

Always supported the offensive spinner set, even in the XY era and glad I could vouch for it without people saying "hurr durr, greninja" now that it is gone.

Lol I'm locking this. MrAldo feel free to create a new thread for Starmie since you addressed the issue first, with relevant sets and information pertaining to it. Use other recent threads as an example to create the new one if you need to.
