State Pride! (or lack thereof)

How could you enjoy getting away from Texas's weather! We have had like four days of winter so far, and that is glorious :)

the problem is, in texas (or at least in houston), when it gets cold, it never gets cold enough to snow, which sucks. imo if the weather's going to be cold it better damn well snow!

who? lol

anyway, i like kentucky because there is stuff to do here, but its not overcrowded like new york and other places. also, there is a lot of beautiful countryside :)

are there unicorns there?

Err its quite hard to care about where I come from (suburbs of northwest london) because it really isn't memorable. You may get the occassional cool people but it is basically chav++

I used to live in El Paso, Texas, but in 2000 I moved to Illinois in the Chicago area.

Lotech and I were bffs, but he doesn't remember probably. =(

I'm from Connecticut, so I don't really have anything to be proud of.

And who is this Loektch son of a bitch that everyone keeps talking about?

I like my state. However, I don't like the weather. The weather this weekend is supposed to have a low of -15 degrees. And the summers are so humid with so many lakes, that it feels a lot hotter than it actually is.

I do like the fact that we aren't very chatty, and we've got a pretty good education and health care system, and the Mall of America.

Hello fellow Minnesotan, I know there are a couple of other users here that live in Minnesota as well. In any case, I enjoy the weather here for the most part. The only problem I have is when it is too cold (this weekend, for example) and when it is really humid in the summer. Most of the time I like it, though. I agree with you on your other points, but "aren't very chatty" is pretty much the opposite of what I see from 98% of the kids at my school.

I'm from CT as well. It's not bad; the school is kind of nice. But I hate cold weather, and right now it's dry and it's freeeeezing...I want to move to Austrailia or California.

I live in New York City, in Manhattan, right next to Central Park, and personally I would hate to live anywhere else. There's always stuff to do, and you almost never need to drive anywhere thanks to subways. The country and suburbs are nice and quiet and everything, but I personally wouldn't want to live there - the city is just very convenient, and considering I can't really drive because of eye problems, it works out much better.

As for the rest of the state... I haven't been around it too much. I've nevre been upstate, although I have spent tons of weekends in the summer on Long Island, where there are some pretty cool beaches, although it gets kind of touristy. So overall, I'd say New York is a great place to live

Come on up to Green Bay baby. Packers are great, and there is virtually no crime unless your a druggy. You don't have to worry about the heat because the hottest it ever gets up here is like 70. As for wisconsin as a whole, Madison is full of liberals and Milwaukee isn't to appealing because of crime and lack of schools. Up north no one really cares about football or anything and for some reason they seem to be seperated from the southern area's of the state. I geuss if your a nature freak there are trees all over and tons of lakes.

Well, most Minnesotans are quiet Lutherans. At least, that's what we're made fun of for, anyways. TT-TT It's definitely not like the souther states.

I think a lot of it has to do with our "accent", which I honestly don't notice.

I live in a really nice community in the subuerbs of NJ, i like it b/c it is the central of like the tri state area, near NYC and pennsilvana, so yea i like it but i want to move to San Diego California.(my dream place)

I live in San Diego, its pretty nice but there is essentially nothing to do here..

About the coolest thing about california is that giftcards can't expire:pimp:

I live in Massachusetts. Our politics are heavily statist, our taxes and cost of living are too high, and our Governor is a certified idiot.

That being said, Massachusetts is a generally nice place to live in. We get all of the seasons pretty much year-round, with more cold, ice, and snow in the winter and more heat in the summer. Our summers do have very hot days, and the problem isn't so much heat as humidity. Wet heat is far, far worse than dry heat. Fall and spring are basically a mixed bag of warm days and cold days, and days that start with frost on the ground, head to mid-70's in the afternoon, and then plummet back down to frost level at night.

The foliage in the fall is beautiful, and the Cape has a number of pleasant beaches and shops. Rural country is out in the middle of the state, and if you like big cities, Boston has quite a few historic sites and an efficient mass transit system. The Big Dig is mostly finished, so constuction crews aren't causing the roads to constantly shift.

Oh yeah, we're also one of the best sports states in the nation. Go Red Sox and Pats. The Celtics haven't been doing badly this season either. I know not of these Bruins of which you speak >_> <_< >_>.

Virginia, represent.

I've pretty much lived in all parts of Virginia- I currently go to school in the western/mountain part (Virginia Tech), my home is in the southeastern area near Norfolk and Virginia Beach, and at one point, I lived in northern Virginia near DC. I've also lived in Houston, Texas for about two years.

I like Virginia quite a bit because it has a little bit of everything- very urban in the north, nice mountains and snow here at Virginia Tech, and the beach close to my home. Actually, emphasis on the beach- I don't go very often, but I do like beaches very much, and I LOVE seafood, so I like to live relatively close to the coast. (I think living in a plains state would drive me insane, honestly.) Not to mention we have a number of very nice colleges- VT, UVa, William and Mary, etc.

I didn't like Houston/Texas too much, really. I found it pretty boring there, and it was way too hot for my liking. Not a big fan of Mexican food, either.

ugh....
Alabama.

Although, i live with Acura in AUBURN, ALABAMA, which in my defense is the Rolls-Royce of AL. There's a whole lot of GO TIGERS and WAR EAGLE everywhere you look, and it doesn't seem like it's as bad as the rest of the state...although we just recently got a whole bunch of cocaine so now THAT'S everywhere....

....uh yeah. Represent?

I live on a rock in the middle of the ocean a.k.a. Hawaii. It's a cultural melting pot, and for the most part everyone gets along. The environment is nice, as are the people, but the prices for everything are pretty high, even for locally made products. We have a pretty high rate of drug use and usually score on the lower end of the SATs. If you're not sightseeing, there's really not much to do here, and the weather can really get crazy during the wintertime. There's also quite some animosity towards tourists from locals (especially on the west side of the island). But despite all these problems I still love it here.

Ugh... Posting just to say that I'm not from Texas, for the love of God.

On topic, I'm from Portland, Oregon. I have a lot of pride in my home state and city. We have more breweries here than you could ever hope to visit, my favorite being Widmer. We also have the Blazers! This Blazers road trip wasn't too great though. :(

Toronto represent! Pretty much everything you could want in a city, maybe it could be a bit more clean and a bit less crime-heavy, but im not right downtown im more in a suburban area so its great. You cant really run out of things to do in the fourth biggest city in North America! The weather is nicely mediated by Lake Ontario, there is TONS of cultural diversity, tons of opportunities and in general a good lifestyle for the middleclass.

Not too many other places I would rather live tbh!
