Stuff that's wrong with D/P

I don't know. Perhaps I'm easily amused, or that I've been through Pokemon for the entire history of the games and some of the anime so I know what it was like previously, but I'm very pleased with the new game.

The surfing speed didn't bother me. I heard complaints about it before, so I was ready to be disappointed, but the speed wasn't slow enough to bother me, even when surfing over large areas of water.

The boosted appearance rate of wild Pokemon actually helped me. I was able to train my Pokemon quicker particularly for EV training and if I didn't want to bother with it I would simply use Max Repels which is the point of the item anyway. The variety was a bit troubling, considering that there are now a total of five hundred Pokemon, but it did not bother me that much.

As for the text and animation speed, that didn't bother me either. I think that the longest animation time (not in-game, including the Pokemon obtained from other games) was that of Electrike, which lasted about six seconds and was actually kind of cute. I have the text on fast and I'm a quick reader, and the speed never bothered me.

As for the Wi-Fi, I actually agree with you on that one. It should also easily tell you at a glance what the Pokemon are (genders, etc.) and what they want for them without having to click through fifty times. It's a seller's market!

I love the underground for collecting items. I've got 15 thunderstones and 10 fire stones already (just need more water and grass)! And getting numerous heart scales is a lot easier then snagging them off of Luvdisc's in the Hoenn games. Collecting fossils and those rare bones (which give me money) is a nice touch.

But my complaint with the underground are the gems. They are pretty much useless. No, I don't want to buy any traps...I can find plenty of them on the floor.

It would have also been nice if the underground was a mixture of wireless and wi-fi connection. That would make the underground minigames a lot more fun.

I know, there is Azelf, Mesprit, Uxie, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Regigigas, Heatran, Cresselia, Phione, Manaphy, Arceus, Shaymin, and Darkrai. WAY too many. It took me forever to get decent ones. They shouldn't of made that many legendaries.

I found the GTS to be much more fruitful once I realized it's a seller's market. Instead of searching for the pokemon you need, offer up something popular (people go ballistic for Feebas) and you'll get what you want in no time.

nice. I will just clone some crappy IV Feebases in Emerald and get some sweet stuff in return :)

This probaly means that we are not getting third game like emerald, beside we don't really have darkrai, shaymin, and Arceus,.

Ok, yet another gripe, but on something new that I actually like:

The Poketch - great idea - poorly implemented.

Graphically, it's overly dumbed down.... the puke green shaded screen is just terrible to look at, in a world where you can capture animals in capsules and warp them around the world... you'd think the LCD technology of the Sinnoh region would be a bit more advanced than a TRS-80.

Functionally, it needed ONE thing to compete for one of the best additions to D/P... a MENU Poketch App! Scrolling through wasn't a big deal at first, but now with almost a dozen apps, it gets quite annoying.

I just wanted to point out, in case you didn't know - there's a girl in the lobby of Pal Park that will give you a Poketch app. that will change the color of it if you show her a Kecleon. I think you have to show her Snorlax first though, then you can show her Kecleon.

Your logic fails. Emerald featured Rayquaza, which was obtainable in RS. E didn't let you catch anything you couldnt already get in RS. There'll be a third game.

My list of pet hates in the game, most of which have been touched upon:

- The UI. Whoever did the battle interface gets a gold star, but why couldn't the rest of the game used a touch screen interface? The first indication I got that things would be bad was when I turned on Diamond for the first time, stylus in hand, and saw the "New Game, Wifi Option" menu on the top screen whilst the touch screen was completely blank. Grrr. The Boxes and your Bag would be especially suited to proper touch screen controls (and not the half-way house that been implemented).

- The slowness. The encounter rate is definitely up. I don't know if its just me but it seem worse on your bike, but not so bad when running or walking, especially in caves.

- The GTS. Great idea but the stupid trades really annoy. You should also be able to search for pokemon that other people want. For example if I've just bred up some Chimchars or whatever, it would be nice if I could see what people are wanting Chimchars and pick the best deals. Auto-matching would also be nice - if I've put up a Chimchar for a Piplup, and someone else has put up a Piplup for a Chimchar, these should be traded automatically.

- No random battles online. No reason why this shouldn't have happened.

Yes, I now have the Snorlax egg timer (good for when I'm cooking dinner) and the Kecleon color changer.

However, turning my puke green screen into the much more appealing "lit-up-swatch-watch blue" doesn't make up for the fact that it looks like it should be using punch cards.

Finding out you could "rapid-fire" through the apps, and memorizing key numbers (7 for itemfinder, 8 for berry map...) was a nice help, but I still think they could have made it a lot cooler looking.... like you're holding a multi functional pokedex.

6. Way too many legendaries. And I wish they would go back to having Fire/Electric/Water (or Ice) for the trio legendaries.

Yeah, and start making Non-Impossible To Get Grass Legends. With a decent type to make it not weak to ice. Or an ability that makes it immune to Ice :D

I may have mentioned it before, but I find it so annoying when trying to fix EVs that it'll drop a speed EV from 255 down to 100 with just one tamato berry. Back in emerald it was a fixed 10 points so that I could make up easily with necessary vitamins. Now that some EV recommendations are posted in D/P analysis and I'm trying to comply, I will need to fight so many zubats all over again once the HP stat is finalized.

But to be honest it is a mixed bag. Sure it is annoying if you made a mistake of a few EV's and want to correct it, but if you want to start EV training again, you know need just 11 berries to remove them all, not 26.

I just looked on the GTC and looked for a manaphy. There was a murkrow named "MANAPHY" that came up. Thus, I think if you name a pokemon the specific name of another pokemon, the GTS can be fooled into thinking it's the other pokemon. It's the same with "MANAPHY" the Kyogre and "GARCHOMP" the spiritomb.

the differential between your pokemon's levels and the elite four was ridiuclous. i trained my pokes from mid-40's to 50ish before i tried anything and still had a bitchy time of it

also, this is the first pokemon game where i've made it a point to always have at least 10 max repels at all times. i know everyone's complaining about the higher encounter rate, but it's seriously very irritating. you're trying to find your way through a maze, but you're being hit by freaking zubats every two steps which no matter what you do takes like half an hour to get rid of. come on, let someone enjoy the freaking game.

i hate the "bog" in the safari zone. i can't go more than 5 steps without being stuck and having to spam the D-pad. very often i get stuck 3-5 times in a row, each just taking one extra step

one good thing i like is the vs. seeker to earn money. east of valor lakefront, a rich boy gives you 17k with amulet coin and he only has a luxio. easy money to buy coins and atk evs =]

Pointing at evolutions... if you go on Serebii and click on the new evos, some of them look nothing like their pre-evos...
Rhyperior, Dusknoir, Porygon-Z...
Lickilicky, Magmortar and Tangrowth make me laugh.
Unnecessary... none for the poke's that need it...

You mean to say stuff like Magmar, Tangela, and Lickitung(and its fearsome ability to 4HKO Skarm with Fire Blast) were fine? Of course, IMO, they went the wrong way with Magmortar(slow fire types aren't a good idea), but really the only one that isn't useful was Dusknoir because it's practically Dusclops in a halloween costume anyways.

They certainly didn't get an evo to all the deserving candidates(Farfetch'd), but I think they did a good job...

GODDAMMIT GF WHY GIVE CLOPS AN EVO AND NOT BANETTE

And FYI, Super Repels are better than Max. You get more repellage for your money.

I was surprised Pachirisu didn't have an evolution.

Also, the GTS pissed me off. If you're looking for a Chansey that's Bold, and you see a Chansey, how are you supposed to find out the nature?
