[OVERVIEW]

A decent and unique defensive typing along with fairly good stats allows Stunfisk to act as a check to several offensive threats like Skuntank, Dodrio, Lycanroc, Aggron, and Scyther. Access to Stealth Rock allows Stunfisk to also provide entry hazard support, slowly chipping away at the opposing team. Static is also a good ability for a defensive Pokemon, spreading paralysis to further help out teammates. However, lack of reliable recovery is unhelpful for a defensive Pokemon like Stunfisk and leaves it open to being worn down quickly by status and chip damage. Its typing, while being great for checking many physical threats, unfortunately leaves Stunfisk weak to predominately specially based types like Ice, Grass, and Water from Pokemon such as Jellicent and Aurorus as well as giving it a weakness to Earthquake and other Ground-type attacks including those from the likes of Mudsdale and Kangaskhan. Stunfisk also faces heavy competition from other Stealth Rock setters, mainly Mudsdale, which can check most of the same Pokemon and has better overall utility.

move 4: Toxic / Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Discharge is used to hit Flying-type foes like Oricorio-G and Swanna that may be tempted to either set up or remove Stealth Rock right away with Defog. It also helps spread paralysis if the foe doesn't make contact. Earth Power is useful for beating many of the Pokemon that Stunfisk checks like Skuntank and Lycanroc as well as opposing Stealth Rock setters like Regirock and Aggron. Toxic helps wear down bulkier Pokemon like Mudsdale and Assault Vest Lanturn, setup sweepers like Lilligant and Calm Mind Mesprit that try to switch in and take advantage of Stunfisk, and Pokemon like Eelektross and Rotom-F that resist or are immune to Stunfisk's STAB attacks. Protect is an option to scout Choice-locked foes like Choice Specs Jellicent and Choice Scarf Primeape and better assess what to switch in while also healing more with Leftovers.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Stunfisk passive recovery and allows it to stay in and check more foes. Static is Stunfisk's most viable ability, having a chance to paralyze Pokemon that make contact. A physically defensive spread works best with Stunfisk's typing, as many of the types that it resists are primarily physically based such as Flying and Rock, while most types that it's weak to are primarily specially based like Ice and Water.

Usage Tips
========

Stunfisk is best switched in on attackers that can't do much damage to it and are threatened by paralysis like Scyther. It can then use this pressure to set up Stealth Rock. It is used as a physical sponge with its decent resistances and should be kept healthy so it can check Pokemon like Dodrio. Stunfisk should avoid switching into status, especially Toxic, that can wear it down. Stunfisk should usually use Discharge, as paralysis can be detrimental to almost anything in the metagame by slowing it down. Protect should be used to scout the opponent's moves and can also be used to stall out field effects like rain and Trick Room. Toxic should be used when the opponent has Pokemon that don't mind being paralyzed. Assault Vest Crabominable and Audino are much more threatened by poison.

Team Options
========

Specially defensive Pokemon that can tank attacks from Jellicent and Aurorus help Stunfisk remain able to check physical threats. Lanturn, Articuno, and specially defensive Alolan Sandslash are all good examples of this and appreciate Stunfisk's ability to check physical Pokemon like Primeape. Clerics like Lanturn, Altaria, and Audino help Stunfisk stay healthy via Heal Bell, with Audino in particular providing great Wish support. Strong attackers like Choice Specs Mesprit, Choice Specs Jellicent, and Stoutland appreciate Stunfisk's ability to slow down faster threats. Scyther in particular appreciates the Rock-type resistance and Electric-type immunity that Stunfisk provides, while Stunfisk appreciates a good Grass-type check. Roselia is a great partner for Stunfisk, checking Water- and Grass-types like Jellicent and Lilligant while also providing Spikes support to form an entry hazard stacking core. In return, Stunfisk also checks physical attackers like Skuntank that threaten Roselia.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Scald can be used to spread burns instead of paralysis, though it lacks the ability to wear down threats as much as Toxic and doesn't cripple special attackers as much as paralysis. An offensive set with Sludge Wave and Scald can be used with Choice Specs as a lure, but other than surprise factor, it is greatly outclassed by other special attackers. Rocky Helmet can be used to further punish physical attackers, but the passive recovery of Leftovers is hard to pass up on, as it is Stunfisk's only form of recovery outside of Rest.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Attackers**: Jellicent, Aurorus, Lilligant, and Omastar can all threaten Stunfisk with their STAB attacks, though Stunfisk threatens them all with paralysis if they switch in.

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Alolan Dugtrio and Mudsdale are immune to Stunfisk's Discharge and can easily threaten it with strong Earthquakes.

**Grass-types**: Lilligant and Lurantis, while annoyed by paralysis, aren't threatened by either of Stunfisk's STAB moves and can either threaten it or use the opportunity to set up or Defog, respectively. Roselia also doesn't mind Stunfisk and can set up Spikes on it, damage it with Giga Drain, and utilize Natural Cure to get rid of paralysis.

**Bulky Setup Pokemon**: Pokemon like Calm Mind Mesprit and Drampa as well Gurdurr can set up on Stunfisk if not running Toxic and proceed to start a sweep.

**Residual Damage**: Spikes, Stealth Rock, and general chip damage from switching into attacks can limit Stunfisk's survivability during a game and can eventually leave it threatened by Pokemon that it is supposed to check.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Decent defensive typing and stats allows it to check several threats like Skuntank, Togedemaru, Lycanroc, and Scyther. would mention aggron on the list of things it checks too, mon is scary
  • Access to Stealth Rock provides team support.
  • Static is a good ability for a defensive Pokemon. why exactly?
  • Lack of recovery is unhelpful for a defensive Pokemon.
  • Typing leaves Stunfisk open to Ice-, Grass-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks. some of these are opposing rockers/removal like mudsdale, lurantis, aurorus, watervally, just something to note
  • One of the most redundant abilities with Limber since Electric-types can't be paralyzed is almost as bad as Rotom-Fan's Levitate. this seems like trivial filler since you're not even using limber. would just remove
  • Mention its competition with smth like mudsdale, can also check the mons you listed at the beginning and is also stronger and has stamina
  • A thing about it threatening removal like Skunk, Kabutops, Alolaslash, etc.
[SET]
name: Defensive Rocks
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Discharge

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Stealth Rock is Stunfisk's main draw, providing support for the rest of its team. this sorta falls under the new standards of removing obvious information, but leave this up to qc
  • Discharge is used to hit Flying-type foes like Oricorio-G and Swanna that may be tempted to switch into Stunfisk and either set up or Defog rocks right away. useful for spreading para too
  • Earth Power is useful for beating many of the Pokemon that Stunfisk checks like Skuntank, and Lycanroc. hits opposing rockers like aggron and regirock too.
  • Toxic helps wear down bulkier Pokemon like Altaria and Spiritomb would go for different examples here since these both have ways around status, as well as setup sweepers like Lilligant and Calm Mind Mesprit that try to take advantage of Stunfisk. Specify catching them on the switch however. (talk about how this is also how stunfisk is hitting mons like rotom-f and eelektross)
  • Protect is an option to scout the opponent's move and better assess what to switch into. list some targets, particularly choiced mons. specs jelli is a good one

Set Details
========

  • A physically defensive spread allows Stunfisk to better take on the physical attackers it resists due to its typing, such as Lycanroc and Skuntank. same thing as in moves
  • Leftovers gives Stunfisk passive recovery and allows it to stay around and check more foes.
  • Static is Stunfisk's most viable ability, having a chance to paralyze Pokemon that make contact.

Usage Tips
========

  • Stunfisk is used as a physical sponge with its decent resistances.
  • It is best switched in on attackers that can't do much damage to it and are threatened by paralysis. It can then use this pressure to set up Stealth Rocks. would make this the first point since this is largely stunfisk's niche
  • If rocks are already up, Stunfisk should usually use Discharge, as paralysis can be detrimental to almost anything it the metagame. I mean, you can click discharge whenever if you need something para'd. If anything you can set rocks after you paralyze something as to increase your odds of keeping them up
  • As an extension of the paralysis point you can talk about pivoting into contact moves to try at activate static. uturn users for instance
  • You could also make mention of what you should inflict toxic on instead as to put them on a timer, things like gurdurr and mesprit would much rather be para'd

Team Options
========

  • Specially defensive Pokemon that can tank attacks from Jellicent and Aurorus help Stunfisk remain able to check physical threats. Lanturn, defensive Jellicent, and specially defensive Sandslash-A are all good examples. I wouldn't really use Jelli to check auro or opposing jelli (include Articuno/Altaria here since they're eq switch-ins as well. You can segway into the next point by talking about their clerical abilities come write-up)
  • Clerics like Lanturn, Altaria, and Audino help Stunfisk stay healthy, with Audino in particular providing great wish support.
  • Mid-speed attackers like Specs Mesprit and Scyther appreciate Stunfisk's ability to slow down faster threats. Why does mid-speed matter? I think most wallbreakers/cleaners appreciate having things para'd. Scyther is also not "mid-speed". would instead talk about things like Specs Jellicent and Stoutland here since they especially appreciate the Speed control. Scyther in particular appreciates the Rock-type resistance that Stunfisk provides. checks grasses for stunfisk as well
  • You could run a spiker like rosey in conjunction with fisk, checks specs jelli and absorbs tspikes/switches into toxic

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Scald can be used to spread burns instead of paralysis you'd be running this over one of your 4th slots so talk about the downsides of running this over them
  • Offensive sets can be used with either Assault Vest or Choice Specs as a lure but other than surprise factor, they don't offer much that other special attackers don't. Please axe av for the love of god, it takes away rocks and toxic, has zero offensive pressure and still takes a million from ice and grass moves which are primarily special
  • Rocky Helmet can be used to further punish physical attackers, but the passive recovery of Leftovers is hard to pass up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Attackers** I think part of this can be split into grass/ice/water type sections since mons from all groups pose different kinds of threats to stunfisk.: Jellicent, Aurorus, Lilligant, and Omastar can all threaten Stunfisk with their STAB attacks, though Stunfisk threatens them all with paralysis if they switch in.

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Golem and Mudsdale are immune to Stunfisk's Discharge and can easily threaten it with high powered Earthquakes. You also commonly have to face these if you're trying to lead rocks

Add a section for Taunt and Toxic users, as they cripple Stunfisk and prevent it from doing its job.

Moves
========

  • Discharge is used to hit Flying-type foes like Oricorio-G and Swanna that may be tempted to switch into Stunfisk and either set up or Defog rocks right away. It also helps spread paralysis to special attackers unaffected by Static. (an important clarification is going to be "why not thunderbolt?" and the answer is that discharge is primarily chosen for the increased chance of paralyze without much loss of power)
  • Earth Power is useful for beating many of the Pokemon that Stunfisk checks like Skuntank, and Lycanroc as well as opposing rockers like Regirock and Aggron.
  • Toxic helps wear down bulkier Pokemon like Mudsdale and Assault Vest Lanturn, setup sweepers like Lilligant and Calm Mind Mesprit that try to switch in and take advantage of Stunfisk, and Pokemon like Eelektross and Rotom-F that resist or are immune to Stunfisk's STAB attacks.
  • Protect is an option to scout choice-locked foes like Choice Specs Jellicent and Choice Scarf Primeape and better assess what to switch into while also getting more healing from Leftovers.

Set Details
========

  • Leftovers gives Stunfisk passive recovery and allows it to stay around and check more foes.
  • Static is Stunfisk's most viable ability, having a chance to paralyze Pokemon that make contact.
  • might wanna specify why physically defensive and not specially defensive. i know we are cutting out the "max defense for max defense" fat but physical vs special is an important distinction for something like stunfisk and the answer is that Stunfisk's physical resists like to Flying and Rock are more valuable and more common...and also many types that stunfisk is weak to are also mainly special so what special moves would stunfisk be taking anyway. electric? immune broski that means 0

Usage Tips
========

  • Stunfisk is best switched in on attackers that can't do much damage to it like Scyther and are threatened by paralysis. It can then use this pressure to set up Stealth Rocks. Switching in on U-turn is an easy way to try and get the 30% roll.
  • It is used as a physical sponge with its decent resistances.
  • Stunfisk should usually use Discharge, as paralysis can be detrimental to almost anything it the metagame, using Stealth Rock when a good opportunity comes around.
  • Toxic should be used when the opponent has Pokemon that don't mind being paralyzed. Mesprit and Gurdurr are much more threatened by poison than paralysis. this is perfect, definitely keep this part

Team Options

  • Specially defensive Pokemon that can tank attacks from Jellicent and Aurorus help Stunfisk remain able to check physical threats. Lanturn, Articuno, and specially defensive Sandslash-A are all good examples.
  • Clerics like Lanturn, Altaria, and Audino help Stunfisk stay healthy, with Audino in particular providing great Wish support.

no way there is just 2. try adding things like "bulky setup mons" or "Grass Types (cuz these are especially good)". this needs to be at least doubled in size imo

  • It is used as a physical sponge with its decent resistances. (expand, mention how it should be kept healthy to check foes like dodrio.. dont let it switch into to many attacks/ dont let it get worn down by toxics)
  • Stunfisk should usually use Discharge, as paralysis can be detrimental to almost anything it the metagame, using Stealth Rock when a good opportunity comes around. (huh didnt you already mention when to use sr?)
  • (a point on when to use protect would be good - could mention how it scouts moves/ stalls out eggy's trick room turns)
  • Toxic should be used when the opponent has Pokemon that don't mind being paralyzed. Mesprit and Gurdurr are much more threatened by poison than paralysis. (remove mesprit and gurdurr and mention eel and eggy here instead. mesprit is threatened by paralysis and idk why you would poison a gurdurr with stunfisk)

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Alolan Dugtrio and Mudsdale are immune to Stunfisk's Discharge and can easily threaten it with high powered Earthquakes.

**Grass-types**: Lilligant and Lurantis, while annoyed by paralysis, aren't threatened by either of Stunfisk's STAB moves and can either threaten Stunfisk or use the opportunity to set up or Defog respectively. Roselia also doesn't mind Stunfisk, can set up Spikes on it, damage it with Giga Drain, and utilize Natural Cure to get rid of paralysis.

**Bulky setup Pokemon**: Pokemon like Calm Mind Mesprit and Drampa, as well Gurdurr can set up on Stunfisk if not running Toxic and proceed to start a sweep.

**Residual Damage**: Spikes, Stealth Rock, and general chip damage from switching into attacks can limit Stunfisk's survivability during a game and can eventually leave it threatened by things that it is supposed to check.

[OVERVIEW]

A decent and unique defensive typing along with fairly good stats allows Stunfisk to act as a check several offensive threats like Skuntank, Dodrio, Lycanroc, Aggron, and Scyther. Access to Stealth Rock provides support by slowly chipping a the opposing team. Static is also a good ability for a defensive Pokemon spreading paralysis to further help out teammates. However, lack of reliable recovery is unhelpful for a defensive Pokemon like Stunfisk and leaves it open to being worn down quickly by status and chip damage. Its typing, while being great for checking many physical threats, unfortunately leaves Stunfisk weak to predominately specially based types like Ice-, Grass-, and Water-types such as Jellicent and Aurorus as well as giving it a weakness to Earthquake and other Ground-type attacks including those from the likes of Mudsdale and Kangaskhan. Stunfisk also faces heavy competition from other Stealth Rock setters, mainly Mudsdale, who can check most of the same things and has better overall utility.

Moves
========

Discharge is used to hit Flying-type foes like Oricorio-G and Swanna that may be tempted to either set up or Defog rocks right away. It also helps spread paralysis if the opponent doesn't make contact. Earth Power is useful for beating many of the Pokemon that Stunfisk checks like Skuntank, and Lycanroc as well as opposing rockers like Regirock and Aggron. Protect is an option to scout choice-locked foes like Choice Specs Jellicent and Choice Scarf Primeape and better assess what to switch into while also healing more with Leftovers.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Stunfisk passive recovery and allows it to stay around and check more foes. Static is Stunfisk's most viable ability, having a chance to paralyze Pokemon that make contact. A physically defensive spread works best with Stunfisk's typing, as many of the types that it resists are primarily physical such as Flying and Rock, while most types that it's weak to are primarily special like Ice and Water.

Usage Tips
========

Stunfisk is best switched in on attackers that can't do much damage to it like Scyther and are threatened by paralysis. It can then use this pressure to set up Stealth Rocks. It can also switch into Volt Switch from Pokemon like Manectric, though it has to be wary of Hidden Power Grass this line is super generic, no more than "ur immune to electric but watch out for their not electric moves!" id remove or make it sound better. It is used as a physical sponge with its decent resistances and should be kept healthy so it can check Pokemon like Dodrio. Stunfisk should avoid switch into status, especially Toxic that can wear it down. Stunfisk should usually use Discharge, as paralysis can be detrimental to almost anything it the metagame by slowing it down. Protect should be used to scout an opponent's moves and can also be used to stall out field effects like rain and Trick Room. Toxic should be used when the opponent has Pokemon that don't mind being paralyzed. Eelektross and Audino are much more threatened by poison. you also can't paralyze eelektross anyway so maybe not him for an example. off the top of my head, av crab or defensive jellicent would fit much better

Team Options
========

Specially defensive Pokemon that can tank attacks from Jellicent and Aurorus help Stunfisk remain able to check physical threats. Lanturn, Articuno, and specially defensive Sandslash-A are all good examples and all appreciate Stunfisk's ability to check physical Pokemon like Primeape. Clerics like Lanturn, Altaria, and Audino help Stunfisk stay healthy via Heal Bell, with Audino in particular providing great Wish support. Strong attackers like Specs Mesprit, Specs Jellicent, and Stoutland appreciate Stunfisk's ability to slow down faster threats. Scyther in particular appreciates the Rock-type resistance and Electric-type immunity that Stunfisk provides while Stunfisk appreciates a good Grass-type check. Roselia is a great partner for Stunfisk, checking Water- and Grass-types like Jellicent and Lilligant while also providing Spikes support to form a hazard stacking core. In return, Stunfisk also checks physical attackers like Skuntank that threaten Roselia.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Scald can be used to spread burns instead of paralysis though lacks the ability to wear down threats as much as Toxic and doesn't cripple special attackers as much as paralysis. An offensive set with Sludge Wave and Scald can be used with Choice Specs as a lure but other than surprise factor, it is greatly outclassed by other special attackers. Rocky Helmet can be used to further punish physical attackers, but the passive recovery of Leftovers is hard to pass up as it is Stunfisk's only form of recovery outside of Rest.
