Set Details

Dragapult is one of the most devastating offensive options in the CAP metagame. Its blistering Speed gives it the jump on every unboosted Pokemon bar Zeraora, making it an effective revenge killer and great late-game cleaner once its checks are in range of Shadow Ball. Furthermore, its combination of U-turn and great overall coverage can make it difficult to safely play reactively against. Hydro Pump targets Heatran and bulky Ground-types like Colossoil, Landorus-T, and Equilibra, whereas Flamethrower helps immensely versus other Steel-types like Corviknight and Ferrothorn. Dragapult can even utilize Hex to break past sturdier special walls like Clefable, Hippowdon, and Toxapex, although this mandates having teammates to spread status.
Dragapult excels at wearing down specially defensive Steel-types like Heatran, Corviknight, and Equilibra; setup sweepers like Calm Mind Clefable and Nasty Plot Tornadus-T benefit greatly from this giving them a much easier time sweeping late-game. Dark-types like Weavile, Bisharp, and Colossoil can take advantage of Dragapult locking into Shadow Ball and easily revenge kill it, so Steel- and Fairy-types like Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and Clefable are great partners. If you run Hex, make sure to pair Dragapult with status spreaders like Clefable, Toxapex, and Heatran.

Other Options
====
Dragapult can use a set of Draco Meteor / Hex / U-turn / Will-O-Wisp or Thunder Wave with Heavy-Duty Boots to better support its team, although such a set is much worse at wallbreaking and requires more team support to successfully clean late-game. Dragon Dance sets are usable on dual screens teams and let Dragapult make use of its higher Attack stat, but they struggle to break Fairy-types like Clefable and Tapu Fini.
Checks and Counters
====
**Fairy-types**: Clefable and Tapu Fini can avoid a 2HKO from Dragapult's Shadow Ball and defeat it with Moonblast. Choice Scarf Jumbao has the bulk to take any one hit from Dragapult, outspeeds it, and OHKOes it with Moonblast. Other Fairy-types like Tapu Koko and Kerfluffle can switch into Draco Meteor but must be more mindful of Shadow Ball.
**Dark-types**: Offensive Dark-types like Weavile, Hydreigon, and Bisharp take advantage of Dragapult locking into Shadow Ball and easily OHKO it in return. Bulkier Dark-types like Tyranitar, Mandibuzz, and Colossoil are even better Shadow Ball switch-ins but, with the exception of the former, face heavy pressure from Draco Meteor.
**Special Walls**: Toxapex, Heatran, and Tyranitar are effective at taking multiple attacks from Dragapult and threatening it in return. Blissey is the closest thing to a hard counter to Dragapult but is generally a large momentum sap.
**Revenge Killers**: Dragapult's poor bulk and typing leaves it vulnerable to priority from the likes of Weavile and Revenankh as well as faster attackers like Zeraora and Choice Scarf Tapu Fini.
