Suicune [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hydro Pump / Scald with clear emphasis that the choice is based purely on the needs of the team. If your team is heavily reliant on suicune to check both Diancie + Heatran, then go with Hydro Pump as it guarantees the 2HKO on all Heatrans and has a 70%~ chance to OHKO hasty Mega Diancie, whereas Scald isn't a guaranteed 2HKO on tran or come close to OHKOing Diancie. On the other hand, if your team prefers to use Suicune as a pure support go with Scald for the burns and reliable accuracy.

also under checks & counters:

**Opposing Weather** Opposing Mega Charizard Y's drastically lessen Suicunes impact on the game. Mega Charizard Y can easily switch in on Suicune and diminish its already mediocre offensive presence further due to Sun cutting the damage Water-type moves in half, and proceed to 2HKO it with Solarbeam.

Bughouse, kamikaze17, and Memoric thoughts on this? as well as anything else that could go into Checks & Counters

Was about to implement the stuff when I saw a mod already did it lol

Is this good to go for 3/3 then?

yup 3/3

[OVERVIEW]
With it's its outstanding defensive typing and stats, Suicune is one of the best bulky Tailwind setters in the metagame, and its access to other moves such as Snarl further makes it a great utility Pokemon. In addition to this, it has access to other (support?) moves such as Snarl, making it a great utility Pokemon (couple things in here that don't really seem to work out :T mostly fine but doesn't flow / connect nicely) Its due to this access to Tailwind as well as other moves such as Snarl that make it a great utility. Suicune is a great defensive backbone on most teams, (RC) due thanks ("due to" is fine)to its ability to switch in on almost any neutral attack. However, it is weak to one of the most common offensive types;, (make it a comma) Electric-type, and its base 90 Special Attack makes it damage output quite underwhelming.

Moves
========
Tailwind doubles the Speed for Suicune and it's its allies, and it serves as a good utility move to allow slower Pokemon to become fast offensive threats. Hydro Pump is used to allow Suicune to provide serviceable offensive pressure, having a high chance to OHKO Mega Diancie, (RC) as well as guaranteeing the 2HKO on Heatran, though it should only be used if Suicune's team is heavily reliant on it to check both Heatran and Diancie. Scald is used as both a STAB attack to deal damage and a utility move(prefer the original honestly, it's "both those things" for "both those reasons") to possibly burn physical attackers, to deal damage and possibly burn physical attackers; (SC) and it also does not suffer the miss chance that Hydro Pump has. Ice Beam provides nice coverage against Dragon- and Flying-types such as Hydreigon and Landorus-T and Hydreigon. Snarl provides utility and allows Suicune to support its team by weakening opposing special attackers. Snarl is also great for catching Rotom-W and Thundurus on the switch in (no hyphen) switch-in's and helping to reduce the opponent's amount of offensive pressure, and provide one with more options since there is less pressure on Suicune. (not sure about this?)(self-explanatory filler afaict) Snarl, however, should not be used on teams with a notable weakness to Bisharp. Lastly Alternatively, Protect keeps Suicune safe for a turn while it waits to either reset Tailwind or while its partner takes care of a threat. (AP) for it

Set Details
========
Sitrus Berry provides burst immediate recovery, improving Suicune's overall bulk. Leftovers could can be used over Sitrus Berry for a (unnecessary) more gradual HP gain, but Sitrus Berry is generally a better fit. The Defense EV's EVs with a Bold nature and Sitrus Berry allow Suicune to survive take (unnecessary) two of Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Returns. The Speed EVs allow it to outspeeds Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus-T when Tailwind is up. The given Special Attack investment allows Suicune to always OHKO Landorus-T with Ice Beam. The rest of the EVs are dumped put into Special Defense.

Usage Tips
========
Suicune typically works best early- (add hyphen) to mid-game, using Tailwind to either gain or regain restore momentum. Due Thanks (kinda unnecessary really) to its bulk, Suicune is a fantastic switch-in on to most neutral attacks, so it has use staying in the back and switching in for a frailer teammate. ("so avoid leading with it" ? ; didn't really get this tbh) (think it's fine) With Snarl, it's able to severely hinder any setup or powerful special attacker, (RC) (keep the comma; leaving it out implies that there are examples where it doesn't apply, which is contradicted by "any") such as Kyurem-B or Calm Mind Cresselia. When using Snarl, use it scarcely when the opposing team has Bisharp. Snarl Use Snarl scarcely when the opposing team has Bisharp, as it activates Defiant, giving Bisharp a +2 Attack boost, (RC) and applys applying allowing it to apply heavy offensive pressure to on your team. There are many Pokemon is Doubles OU that don't have a good matchup against Suicune, most notably Steel- and opposing Water-types. Because of this, Suicune can be a great win condition wincon late-game;, (make it a comma) soaking up hits, possibly burning threats with Scald, and slowing wearing down an opponent foe.

Team Options
========
Suicune works fantastic in bulky FWG Fire / Water / Grass cores with Pokemon like such as (keep "like", connotation "similar to" is present) Heatran and Mega Venusaur. These types of Pokemon work very well together by having fantastic defensive synergy and typing coverage, (AC) They also providinge an extremely solid defensive backbone that can be hard to break. Fake Out users such as Mega Kangaskhan help Suicune set up Tailwind successfully. Amoonguss is a particularly good partner for Suicune, (AC) as it can redirect Electric-type attacks while Suicune sets up Tailwind, while Suicune in return can or takes care of opposing Fire- and Flying-types. Since As Suicune is mainly used for Tailwind, it works well with Pokemon that benefit from it, such as Breloom or and Mega Kangaskhan. Pokemon that can deal with opposing Grass- and Electric-type attacks such as Kyurem-B and Landorus-T also make for good partners.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Suicune can also run a more offensive set with an EV spread of 28 HP / 252 SpA / 228 Spe. This set spread will allow it to (the prose is chunky so changing something is fine, but you'll need my change here too because "this set allows it to outspeed" makes little sense, the set itself is the one doing the outspeeding) outspeed Jolly Breloom, (RC) and deal as much damage as possible, (AC) with a dump some investment in HP as well. This set functions well with either a Sitrus Berry, a Life Orb, or other items that boost Water-type attacks boosting item. However, this set isn't as effective since because Suicune simply doesn't have the offensive stats to be threatening. More times than not, you're better off using a more powerful Water-type such as Keldeo. Suicune also has access to Calm Mind and Substitute, giving it the possibility of being a powerful setup sweeper; (SC) however, setting up is typically too time consuming, and it would also be better to use a better offensive Water-type. Icy Wind can be run for additional speed control, but they're there usually isn't room for it on it's set. Roar is another option to remove any setup sweepers like such as Mega Kangaskhan or remove Trick Room setters, but it's (apostrophe) very situational and is generally not very useful. Safety Goggles is a possible alternative item so Suicune can switch-in (remove hyphen)) on Spore from Amoonguss or Breloom, and. (period) (keep it as is, less chunky) Wacan Berry or Rindo Berry can be used to reduce damage from an Electric- or Grass-type attacks attack, respectively. (unnecessary)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Typing Advantage**: Bulky Electric-types such as Rotom-W and Zapdos are good checks against Suicune. Zapdos and other Electric(add space)/(add space)Flying types Pokemon (Electric / Flying types is fine) such as Thundurus should be cautious of Ice Beam, (AC) however. Grass-types such as Breloom, Venusaur, and Amoonguss also give a great deal of trouble to Suicune, (AC) but they too should also be cautious of Ice Beam.

**Utility**: Taunt users such as Sableye and Thundurus prevent Suicune from setting up Tailwind, which is typically Suicune's main purpose. Fake Out users such as Mega Kangaskhan and Scrafty also prevent Suicune from setting up Tailwind while the opposing team sets up its own field effects. Pokemon with Defiant and Comeptitive such as Bisharp and Milotic can switch-in (add hyphen) (no, only if it refers to a Pokemon) on Snarl and sweep with their boost.

**Opposing Weather** Opposing Mega Charizard Y's drastically lessen Suicunes Suicune's impact on the game. Mega Charizard Y can easily switch in on Suicune and diminish its already mediocre offensive presence further due to Sun cutting halving the damage of (both are fine) Water-type moves in half, and ("and proceed" without the comma) proceeding to 2HKO it with Solar Beam Solarbeam.

Roar is another option to remove any setup sweepers like Mega Kangaskhan or remove Trick Room setters, but its very situational and is generally not very useful. Safety Goggles is a possible alternative item so Suicune can switch-in (remove hyphen)) on Spore from Amoonguss or Breloom, and. (period) Wacan Berry or Rindo Berry can be used to reduce damage from an Electric- or Grass-type attacks, respectively.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Typing Advantage**: Bulky Electric-types such as Rotom-W and Zapdos are good checks against Suicune. Zapdos and other Electric(add space)/(add space)Flying types Pokemon such as Thundurus should be cautious of Ice Beam, (AC) however.

Pokemon with Defiant and Comeptitive such as Bisharp and Milotic can switch-in (add hyphen) on Snarl and sweep with their boost.

**Opposing Weather** Opposing Mega Charizard Y's drastically lessen Suicunes Suicune's impact on the game. Mega Charizard Y can easily switch in on Suicune and diminish its already mediocre offensive presence further due to Sun cutting halving the damage of Water-type moves in half, and proceeding to 2HKO it with Solar Beam Solarbeam.
Implemented Haunde's check before I saw TDP's. Do I have to implement that one as well or am I good?

[OVERVIEW]
With its outstanding defensive typing and stats, Suicune is one of the best bulky Tailwind setters in the metagame, and its access to other moves such as Snarl further makes it a great utility Pokemon. Suicune is a great defensive backbone on most teams thanks to its ability to switch in on almost any neutral attack. However, it is weak to one of the most common offensive types, Electric, and its base 90 Special Attack makes it damage output quite underwhelming.

Moves
========
Tailwind doubles the Speed for of Suicune and its allies, (RC) for four turns and it serves as a good utility move to allow slower Pokemon to become fast offensive threats. Hydro Pump is used to allow Suicune to provide serviceable offensive pressure, having a high chance to OHKO Mega Diancie as well as guaranteeing the and always 2HKOing on Heatran, though it should only be used if Suicune's team is heavily reliant on it to check both Mega Diancie and Heatran and Diancie. Scald is used as both a STAB attack to deal solid damage and a utility move to possibly burn physical attackers; it also does not suffer the miss chance that has perfect accuracy, unlike Hydro Pump has. Ice Beam provides nice coverage against Dragon- and Flying-types such as Hydreigon and Landorus-T. Snarl provides utility and allows Suicune to support its team by weakening opposing special attackers. Snarl is also great for catching Rotom-W and Thundurus on the switch-in and helping to reduce the opponent's opposing team's amount of offensive pressure on Suicune specifically. Snarl, however, should not be used on teams with a notable weakness to Bisharp. Alternatively, Protect keeps Suicune safe for a turn while it waits to reset Tailwind or while its partner takes care of a threat.

Set Details
========
Sitrus Berry provides immediate recovery, improving Suicune's overall bulk longevity. Leftovers can be used over Sitrus Berry for more gradual HP gain recovery, but Sitrus Berry is generally a better fit. The Defense EV's with a Bold nature and Sitrus Berry allow Suicune to take two of avoid the 2HKO from Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Returns. The speed Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus-T when Tailwind is up. The given Special Attack investment allows Suicune to always OHKO Landorus-T with Ice Beam. The rest of the EVs are put into Special Defense to bolster Suicune's overall bulk.

Usage Tips
========
Suicune typically works best early- to and mid-game, using Tailwind to either gain or restore momentum. Thanks to its bulk, Suicune is a fantastic switch-in to most neutral attacks, so it has use staying in the back and switching in for a frailer teammate. With Snarl, it's able to severely hinder any setup or powerful special attacker, such as Kyurem-B, (AC) and even boosting ones, such as or Calm Mind Cresselia. Use Snarl scarcely sparingly when the opposing team has Bisharp, as it the move activates Defiant, giving Bisharp a +2 Attack boost and allowing it to apply heavy offensive pressure on to your team. There are many Pokemon is in Doubles OU that don't have a good matchup against Suicune, most notably Steel- and Water-types. Because of this, Suicune can be a great wincon late-game, soaking up hits, possibly burning threats with Scald, and slowing wearing down a foe.

Team Options
========
Suicune works fantastic in bulky Fire / Water / Grass cores with Pokemon like Heatran and Mega Venusaur. These types of Pokemon work very well together by having fantastic defensive synergy and typing coverage, providing an extremely solid defensive backbone that can be hard to break. Fake Out users such as Mega Kangaskhan can help Suicune set up Tailwind successfully. Amoonguss is a particularly good partner for Suicune, as it can redirect Electric-type attacks while Suicune sets up Tailwind or takes care of opposing Fire- and Flying-types. As Suicune is mainly used for Tailwind, it works well with Pokemon that benefit from it, such as Breloom and Mega Kangaskhan. Pokemon that can deal with opposing Grass- and Electric-type attacks such as Kyurem-B and Landorus-T also make for good partners.

Other Options

Suicune can also run a more offensive set with an EV spread of 28 HP / 252 SpA / 228 Spe. This spread will outspeed Jolly Breloom and deal as much damage as possible, with some investment in HP as well to grant it some staying power. This set functions well with a Sitrus Berry, Life Orb, or other items that boost Water-type attacks. However, this set isn't as effective because Suicune simply doesn't have the offensive stats to be threatening. More times than not, you're better off using a more powerful Water-type such as Keldeo. Icy Wind can be run for additional speed control, but there usually isn't room for it. Roar is another option to remove setup sweepers such as Mega Kangaskhan or as well as Trick Room setters, but it's very situational and is generally not very useful (redundant). Lastly, Wacan Berry or Rindo Berry can be used to reduce damage from an Electric- or Grass-type attack.
