Pika's projectile has a wide arch that trails along the ground and under stages, thunder has a huge vertical, longlasting hitbox, quick Dsmash, fast aerials, chaingrabs to 80% on some characters... you be the judge.

His projectile's good, just not great. It's kinda slow moving across the stage. He lacks range in most of his attacks (except for the Down-B and Forward smash) and his Down smash is supriseingly easy to DI out of (you don't really get killed if you DI up while the attacks hitting you). I'll admit, the QAC is pretty awesome, but he really isn't that close to the big boys.

It should be slow if you're making it trail across the stage. I use it for approaches and tagging recoveries. Pika's nimbleness and quick aerials are really good for hit-and-runs, so the range doesn't become an issue with me.

Dsmash usually comes after Fair, which paralyzes them long enough to Dsmash them, or any dodgeroll... at least in my cases.

Again, the thunderjolt is good, but i'd take projectiles like Falco's/Wolf's laser over it any day. If you like to do hit and run tactics, wouldn't rage be a major concern? The farther away your attack hits, the easier it is to run away earlier! And I don't really get how your following up F-airs with down smashes either since you'd either do the full attack and blast them away or do the attack and endure the landing lag. Either way, you just need to hold up to get out of his Down smash.

I don't want to make this sound like I think pika's bad by the way, I just don't think he's up there with the ranks of MK, G&W, and Falco like you emplied.

Needs more talk about Pika; I believe it is as cheap as MK is >:3

@_@

Thunder Jolt isn't as good or as annoying as Whorenado. You can shield or perfect shield it so your shield isn't going to be as diminished as it would be vs whorenado. Plus it has more punishable lag than tornado.

Thunder has a long lasting hitbox, but the move is slow, telegraphs itself, and you can easily air dodge it 90% of the time.

Dsmash can be SDI'd ou of.

MK's aerials are faster than Pikachu's with both less startup and ending lag.

Pikachu has a chain grab, but for most characters, if they're getting up to 80% with it, they just aren't DIing correctly. Either that, or they might need to spam the A button.

Thunderjolt is awesome period. (haterz! >:O)

Anyways, Pikachu is overall good (but not that good). Leonard, if pikachu gives you a hard time, ask Colin for help vs pikachu users (he knows how to handle them).

The fact that there even is discussion about banning a character says something about this game.

I really have no opinion on whether or not MK is banned...but Umby is to elite for me. I'm having trouble deciphering what exactly he's trying to say.

He's calling it a bad/unbalanced game because we are going to ban MK.
street fighter 2 is an amazing game which is still played competetively today, which it has been since it first game out about 16 years ago.
The reason i brought it up is because they banned akuma and another character.

Interesting, I didn't know another character was banned.

While Metaknight isn't exactly "intended" to be broken as Akuma was (being a boss character and all), the fact remains that his completely overpowered nature stagnates character development and the growth of tournaments; if someone sees that all they can do is become good with Metaknight, and don't fancy their chances against someone else who's good as Metaknight, then they'll likely just not attend. Same goes for people who are just entering the competitive Smash community: If they see that you can only become recognized as a pro Metaknight player, that's all they're going to do to win.

Well, i don't know the name of the other character, but i know that they put a soft ban on him (a mutual agreement between all good players, basically.)
EDIT: It was old sagat.
He was also a secret character and he was dominating tournaments (7/8) so they put a soft ban on him.
Newer players weren't scrutinized for using him, but good players who are capable of winning without him but still used him were frowned upon.

Tbh, a number of factors make Brawl a bad game competitively, not just the discussion of banning a character. However, I was unaware of Akuma being baned in SF2, so the implications of my statement were found at fault.

He's only banned in SF2 Turbo.

Also, you don't think MK was purposefully made broken? Just look at SSE.
Yeah, i meant super turbo, ^^;
But, super turbo was the competitive one.
anyways, onto brawl.
I have to disagree about Brawl.
In my opinion, a competitive game usually has a balanced selection of characters, and in order to do that, we are probably going to ban Metaknight.
If we ban Metaknight, other characters will shine.
Back to super turbo, after Akuma and old Sagat were soft banned, the game still worked fine, and there was a lot of variation in what everyone used.
Let me just say one thing, though, before i get a counter-arguement on me, metaknight is going to be banned, and there is no stopping it, and i think that it will be justified.
