Anyway Wario's final smash was pretty lame for the most part. The only way this attack is considered cool is in the so stupid its funny aspect. I would have rather liked to see an atomic fart.
 
Do you mean the bundle of sticks, or the homosexual definition? I guess it would be a bad thing to be a bundle of sticks.

And his final smash is hilarious. I'm probably still not going to use him unless I'm drunk, but it's still funny.
 
Wow that update sucked! Who cares about Fs'? They won't be used in competetive play anyway >.> And that outfit sucks.

Just because a certain update isn't going to be exercised in competitive play, it isn't useless. Jesus guys, stop being closed-minded about this stuff, the only truly useless updates are single updates like "You must recover!". Also, it's still up in the air whether or not Final Smashes will be used in competitive play. Remember that if you're getting your ass kicked in a Brawl, you'll spawn with a FS, and it's not known if that can be controlled or not.
 
I think the only final smash yet to be known off is Snake's, correct? I'm probably wrong on this one, lol.

(Not just the website, I'm talking about the demos as well.)

Anways the characters FS' we don't know:

-Zelda
-Snake
-Dedede
-Zero Suit Samus (known but not posted on blog yet)

I want some new characters, even a vetran update would be nice. CF anyone?
 
My guess for Snake is either a stealth kill that does enough damage to ensure any attack that precedes it will kill your opponent (sudden death) or a bunch of explosives that blast the enemy offstage.

My guess is that FS's will be banned from comp. play due to their extreme unfairness. Some are almost impossible to dodge.

Actually, Sonic's is also known, but not revealed, so that makes five.

I personally love this, not so much because i love wario, but it shows that these types of FS's will be used. So far, we've seen giant-ass beams, transformations, and seeking slash attacks, but this raises my hopes for certain FS wishes, that a character will just be augmented rather than unleashing an ultimate attack, like an Active-Camo Snake, or an Inner Focus Lucario (pipedreampipedreampipedream).

Who's to say we haven't found an effective way of blocking them yet? Assuming items off, the only way to get a FS is to be having your ass kicked. Even then, even if a FS is broken, the better player will still come back from being KO'd from a Final Smash and beat the person who got to use theirs.

1. Assume you are playing with one life in a huge tournament, now your opponent sucks and has 300% damage and you have 50%. All of the sudden a FS appears and they grab it. It is Link's FS which is impossible to dodge (according to several sources). Now you are trapped between two triforce pieces while getting your ass slashed by Link's sword. Now you are sent flying and lose. This can hardly be considered fair which would make tournaments suck.

Also this would also make it strategic to play as a character with an undodgeable/hard to dodge FS and then just purposely get your ass kicked which seems pretty fucking stupid to allow.

A player shouldn't be able to win out of sheer luck. FS's seem more fit for a non-competitive friendly match


2. We aren't talking about Street Fighter. I am sure nobody foresaw that with SF and that became a big problem. SSBB should learn that competitive players/tournaments are strict on all items as they dont want luck to be a factor. If you couldnt turn off FS's then that would add luck to the game making comp./tournament play horrible. This would cause SSBB to lose a lot of players that only play without items. Nintendo is smart enough to allow us to turn them off.

Err, sorry Bioshock but your fictional scenario barely makes any sense in the first place. Firstly FS's would be turned off in terms of spawning randomly as an item- we don't know if you can turn off the "pity" auto-FS and if it turns out that you can't have "pity" FS's without randomly spawning FS's then my point is null and void and the subject is done. I'm discussing the possibility of the pity-FS being available without a random-spawning FS.

Secondly Link's final smash is easily avoidable unless you're on Final Destination or some such similar type of level that has no platforms. Even then... all you have to do is stay on a horizontal plane higher than he is (jumping, mindgames, etc. etc...)

I'm not sure what kind of point you were trying to make with "Nobody forsaw that with Street Fighter..." Are you saying that the fact that some supers were broken and others weren't became a problem? Or that the one guy was able to dodge each hit? Regardless Sakurai knows what makes Smash Competitive, he's not going to fuck around with the formula that's been the same since the original.
 
I'm glad that this update at least had a few examples of the new events in the game. Also, the ability to set difficulty is nice.
