ok I shall try!
Problem is I have a VERY BAD MOUSE! And I am not too good with controlling the mouse.
Could I draw and colour the sprite and then scan it and finally post it? Is it allowed?
And what is a tablet?
Duskanine.png

This was due a long time ago....I know...

Are you serious?(please be!)
Yes!! I didnt screw up Arcanine!!
Well I didnt have to scratch too much....All I did was get the basic ovalish shape of the crest. Then I cut the outline and put it near there crest's edge and touched up the fur..
Duskiwag.png

At first glance it just looks like a poliwag with weird eyes but I actually used duskull's skull face for the base for the swirl. And yeah the swirl is very symmmetrical so sue me.

@ MetalGarX: If you drew a picture, scanned it, and posted it, that would technically not be a sprite. Now, one way you can make a sprite is doing a pixel over of a sprite sized drawing you did. I personally don't care for that method, but it's a completely legit way of doing it.

ok headpunch anyways when i did it to try to scratch the swirl on poliwhirl when it scans the result is horrible. So you are saying that I draw a 80x80 size drawing, scan it and use that as a reference to create a pixel drawing?
Duskiwhirl.png

Sorry the swirl is hard to do when you have to make it thick....
Poliwhirl's swirl wont be too good either........

Here Coconut, I tried a Sea Urchin:

He's a tiny little guy.

I also made a slightly larger variant:

I can add more spikes if you want me to...

hey headpunch, thanks for the guide, Technos is looking great so far ;)
I don't remember posting a guide - just a few pointers. Good idea, though. I should make a scratching guide.

What I'm saying is draw a picture of the Pokémon (preferably pretty big for more detailed scratches), scan it, resize it, then do a pixel over. One of Wichu's scratching guides is actually based off of this concept. Like I said, though - I prefer doing scratches freehand with just a design sketch to look at.

Ok thanks. Where is Wichu's scratching guide?
Duskwrath.png

I told you this would be a mess. I am just glad that this one is over. I never really liked the polis anyway....

I like your idea YoshiT but you could make the face a little clearer and extend the swords. Make them like fencers or scimitars, not broadswords...

@ MetalGarX: Wichu should tell you because I don't know.
Another new scratch:

It's a swordfish! :)
I have to admire how quickly you can come up with decent designs for Pokémon. A couple of things, though. Don't be lazy. With those front fins, you should make them at different angles. just making its left fin curve around so you can C/P the tip from the right fin makes it look unnatural. Just take a little bit more time to make different tips, and it'll pay off. The area where its tail connects to its body is also slightly awkward - enough so to attract unwanted attention there. Try smoothening the transition between its belly and tail line and not extending its back line so far. Now I'm just being picky, but I personally think it would look better if the tip of the tail didn't curve straight upwards. Good job again. I'm glad this one isn't symmetrical, and I also like your palette choice.

I guess I'll post the newest scratch that's in my art thread. I made this for Winter.Mute.

Cornuleon.

I have had so much ideas for new pokes but never actually took the time to draw them...
And I touched up on my Avatar which I am not going to change ever

thanks Goo(hehe goo - wait didnt I say that before?)
And I am almolst done with my first scratch!
Shockasocker-1.png

Hes a Electric/Fight Levitater.
I just love him. Those black things are wires.
So, what do you think?

Guys I know that guy told you to make more scratch work but come on... some of you are pumping out hideous scratches in an attempt to give life back to the thread.

That may be true, but to be honest, practicing can't hurt and if they don't get pointers, they won't know what they need help with. I certainly hope you're not referring to my work.

Sadly, not so good. Part of the reason I don't like symmetrical sprites is because real Pokémon sprites never face straight toward you. Unfortunately, this sprite isn't even symmetrical. The eyes aren't in the Pokémon style, the mouth looks awkward, and the lineart is sloppy. There is also too much contrast in the luminosity of the brown shades. I'm not trying to sound harsh - I'm just pointing it out like it is. Don't give up yet, though.
I made nanos's evo, something is displaced about it :/
technosfg5.png

ghost/steel, fight/steel, or elc/steel? :/
Not terrible. I personally don't find your scratches hideous, if that's any consolation to you. The lineart of the head is somewhat rough. It doesn't look smooth, or even round in some places. The placement of the designs on its head could also use some tweaking, but that's not a major issue. Nice palette choice. It looks good, but I can tell without even looking closely that it doesn't use 15 colors. You might want to try sticking to that general rule. On an unrelated note, I can't really see a rock with what appears to be magnets stuck in it evolving into such a fragile and drastically different looking Poké, but whatever suits you best.

Thanks for the great tips Headpunch. I tried to make things flow smoother here:

Swordfishalt3.png

... and in the process ditched the old tail idea. It was just too rough to work with in 64 x 64 proximity (well, for me anyway.) I went with a "typical" tail fin and I think it turned out much smoother. Enlongated the two sword fins slightly and tried to smoothen up the top fin. Erm, I forgot to re-position the prominent sword fin... I'll try and fix that some more tomorrow.

Nice job on the scratch Faze! Ghost-Steel would be awesome imo.

K thanks head punch. Could someone tell me what is the "Pokemon Style Eye".
your sprite looks ok faze.....
But until i get some new idea for a sprite im gonna continue with my duskull dex...
