My goal when creating this team was to implement some of my favorites for once, rather than just using what everyone else uses. To my surprise, I've been tearing it up with this team on netbattle. I lost horribly to stall though, probably because nearly everybody here requires some set-up. So, I'm trying to get some help for that.
Crobat (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
Crobat can be a fantastic lead if used right. Usually, when people see a Crobat lead, they flee in fear of being sleeped. This usually allows me to get an easy Nasty Plot, and then I can sweep with my powerful special attack and speed. Sludge Bomb for STAB and it can hurt stuff pretty badly if they don't resist it. Heat Wave kills steels, and HP Fighting OHKO's Tyranitar after a Nasty Plot.
Machamp (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Dynamicpunch
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge
Machamp has always been a favorite of mine, and this set can be extremely useful. Bulk Up boosts his already great attack and defense, allowing Machamp to take a hit too. Usually a throw a Dynamicpunch first, hitting something hard and confusing it. After it's confused, a Bulk Up a few times unless I know the opponent could kill me, which isn't really much though. Dynamicpunch is great STAB and the confusion is fantastic. Ice Punch for dragons, Thunderpunch for waters, but mostly Gyarados. I had Stone Edge/Payback here, but Dragons are so scary.
Mesprit @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 124 Def / 36 SAtk / 96 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
Seriously, I can't understand why people don't use this more. While Azelf packs a lot more punch, Mesprit can take hits so much better than Azelf can. This Mesprit is designed basically to be the counter to sweepers. He sports the famous BoltBeam combo and a nifty STAB attack in Psychic, and I Thunder Wave everything I can for support. My two main sweepers really benefit from paralyze, allowing them to set up and attack a lot easier. Speaking of my main sweepers...
Rhyperior (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish
- Stone Edge
- Substitute
Oh my god. I really underestimated the power of this. I've only ever really seen it in play once or twice and never thought much of it, but holy crap this thing is just strong. I try to get everything I can paralyzed with Mesprit, then bring this guy in on something that's paralyzed, preferably a physical attacker. Rhyperior causes more switches than anything I've ever seen, allowing me to get a substitute extremely easily. With my sub up, I'll Rock Polish, then rape things. Earthquake and Stone Edge are incredibly powerful dual STAB that contain some awesome coverage. The only thing I've seen stop this guy are Bronzong.
Houndoom (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 42 HP / 216 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Nasty Plot
This is one of the funnest sets I've ever used. I try to draw a fire attack in from Metagross, and then this guy just goes crazy. After a Nasty Plot, not much is going to survive this things rampage, especially if a lot of the opponent's team is paralyzed. As with nearly all special sweepers, this guy can't do really anything to Blissey. Fire Blast is crazy strong, and if I've recieved a Flash Fire boost, I could probably even kill Blissey with a few Fire Blasts. Dark Pulse kills stuff, and Hidden Power ground kills Heatran and Infernape, who otherwise wall the rest of this set. This Houndoom is also the ultimate Azelf counter. Common Nasty Plot Azelf sets run Fire Blast, Psychic, Grass Knot/Thunderbolt. One of those moves helps me, while the other doesn't hit me at all, and I kill it back no problem with Dark Pulse. Delightful.
Metagross @ Expert Belt
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 200 Spd / 56 SAtk
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
- Grass Knot
- Ice Punch
Honestly the least effective member of this team. I don't really like him at all. I'm using a very weird set here. Bullet Punch for speedy hits, Earthquake for other steels and fires, Ice Punch for dragons. I'm using Grass Knot here because otherwise I can't hurt Swampert much. The problem is that Grass Knot from this guy doesn't even OHKO many Swamperts, and they proceed to rape me back with Earthquake. This guy is the main thing I want changed here. I don't like Meteor Mash much because of the unreliable accuracy and I need a priority move, but I could use it I guess.
