Project SV DOU Teambuilding Competition v3: Week 27 (Gouging fire)

Steel Chess Set

Basic idea is to make a full set of chess pieces (pawn, bishop, king, queen, knight, and rook) with Steel-type Pokemon, making this team both aesthetically as well as thematically pleasing. There's some unavoidable flaws to this team that make it hard to use on ladder (being super weak to Ground and Fighting among them), but you can probably play this on low ladder and get a win or two.

Pawniard is useless offensively but can set Stealth Rock while being immune to Fake Out. Click Thunder Wave if you have no thing else to do. Foul play lets it do more than 5% damage vs stuff. Bisharp kind of just wants to do the same thing as Kingambit, so I made Bisharp a SD set and Kingambit the AV set so it's kinda like having two Kingambits. Tinkaton is a good fast Fake Out lead with a strong Steel attack and passable coverage options. Iron Crown carries this team hard ngl - it's the team's only special attacker and has access to both Psychic and Focus Blast which hit a lot of targets the rest of the team can't. Bastidion is here because Stakataka isn't legal :psycry: but it's kind of a cool IronPress user and access to Sturdy + Counter can be fun I guess (I tried using Metal Burst but the damage output really sucked).

So yeah, not really a good team competitively but I think it looks cool!

It was the last week of SCL and I was going to play OU, I asked my team for some help and no one answered me so I built this. Bagel ended up helping me and I ended up using something different, which I still regret.

The names are from the rats I've had this past 4 years: Marfim, Bon Bon, Luna, Pumpkin, Pudim and Kiki. Now only Pudim and Kiki are with me, rest in peace ratinhas.

Video stated that I can post several teams in one post. They are both legal, monotype teams theming what's obviously "hot and cool". I had a pretty good win rate against the ladder until facing players in the 1500s. Considering the restrictions that I had, I would say that the teams aren't too shabby. I enjoyed this week's team building competition and wouldn't mind another one such as this.

:Iron-Valiant: :Tornadus-Therian: :Florges: :Volcarona: :Glimmora: :Palafin-Hero:
This is my post for the Asthetics Teambuilding Competition. Here, I'll show you my submission. I assure you that every single aspect, down to the EV Spreads and Natures, are vital in my submission. This post features the Elegant Forces of Nature, featuring Iron Valiant, Tornadus-Therian, Florges, Volcarona, Glimmora, & Palafin-Hero.
First, we'll start with Iron Valiant.

1728543264359.png

Ethereal Warrior (Iron Valiant) @ Shiny Stone
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Stellar
EVs: 128 Atk / 128 SpA / 252 Spe
Hardy Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Close Combat
- Future Sight
- Thunder Punch
To start us off, its name represents how it is a warrior of the future, capable of using both Magical-Type attacks and able to be a Physical combatant as well, showcasing duality. The EV spread and Nature represents that, able to be very versatile in combat without worry. The Nature calls out its characteristic to endure fatigue and boast vigor. Stellar Terastallization shows off the fact that it is a Future Paradox Pokémon, the idea being that it possesses celestial powers, matching its otherworldly design. Dazzling Gleam shows off its elegance, while Close Combat represents its "Warrior" attribute. Future Sight and Thunder Punch both attribute to its futuristic design.

Next, let's take a look at Tornadus-Therian.

Sky's Elegance (Tornadus-Therian) @ Shed Shell
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Tailwind
- Bleakwind Storm
- U-turn
- Weather Ball
Tornadus-Therian's role in nature is the force of the air. The shiny form represents Tornadus's Dynamism-like acts. He's a force of nature, full of chaos and beauty at the same time. The Shed Shell represents its bird-type look, able to get out of sticky situations with its quick agility. That's also the reason it has maximum Speed! Though, due to its Hastiness and Recklessness, it has a negative nature in its Defense stat. Flying Tera boasts its immense power in whipping up storms. Tailwind represents its excellent speed once again, and Bleakwind Storm paired with Weather Ball once again remind you that it's the controller of storms. U-Turn also flaunts its agility.

Now, Florges gets a turn in the limelight!

Flower Guardian (Florges) @ Galarica Wreath
Ability: Flower Veil
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpD
Gentle Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Petal Dance
- Fairy Wind
- Synthesis
- Safeguard
Florges is showcased on this team of nature-filled Pokémon because she represents serenity and beauty of flowers, a common sight often seen in the wild. Florges is shiny because she stands out a lot more, the Galarcia Wreath showing off a crown of flowers. That's not the only reason I chose it, though. It's the method to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Slowking, and that fits Florges because she looks particularly regal. Flower Veil displays brilliance, while the EVs compliment the nickname and the move Safeguard, acting as a way to tell you she's a protector of nature. Even in Pokedex entries, it shows off this trait. In Pokemon Ultra Moon, it's dex entry mentions it lives hundreds of years and devotes every single one of those to protecting gardens. I chose the White Florges because, in the Scarlet & Violet Pokedex entries, it tells a story of beautifully decorating their flower garden with flourishing plants of many different colors. Petal Dance and Fairy Wind show how beautiful she can be, while synthesis amplifies that idea, as she's a flower and takes energy from the sun to power up. Next, we'll take a look at the Sun Pokémon, Volcarona!

Here she is!

Fiery Grace (Volcarona) (F) @ Soul Dew
Ability: Flame Body
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Rain Dance
- Fire Spin
Volcarona is here to show the beauty of elegance and fire. This Volcarona shows off the sheer beauty of this amazing Pokemon through their dance-style moves, showing elegance and fluidity. The electric Tera Type represents Volcarona's intensity and speed as strong as lightning. Her gentle nature shows her personality, not being harsh or too serious, perfect for Volcarona. Don't get it mixed up though, as Volcarona can turn out to be a devastating force, scattering burning embers with her wings, and is widely regarded as the embodiment as the sun. The shiny form represents not only that, but also the location you find Volcarona in its Debut game. The color scheme matches the flowing sand excellently. The EV spread signifies its destructive power and extreme speed, the idea further boosted by the dancing moves that Volcarona has access to.

Now, say hello to Glimmora!
1728543387523.png
1728543391663.png

Crystal Bloom (Glimmora) (M) @ Adamant Crystal
Ability: Corrosion
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 100 Atk / 156 SpA / 252 Spe
Quirky Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Gunk Shot
- Mortal Spin
- Earth Power
Glimmora fits onto this team due to its stunning visuals, representing pretty looks, fragility of nature, and a beautiful false sense of security. A common rule in nature is, the prettier something is, the higher the chance that it is very dangerous, and Glimmora represents that amazingly. Living deep in Area Zero, it's a sight to behold, but if it senses danger it will "open up its crystalline petals and fire beams from its conical body". The item it holds are very similar to the Crystal Jewels in Area Zero, along with the coloring of its shiny theme. Tera Ice matches the color beautifully. Dazzling Gleam and Mortal Spin boost the idea of it being beautiful, but deadly. Even the champion of the region, Geeta, notices this Pokemon's power. Geeta's hair design is based off of a Glimmora, and it's even her ace! The 100 Attack EVs nod to Glimmora's sharp-looking surface when it expands, and the Special Attack represents the blooming power within it. The speed shows how fast Glimmora can spread its toxic beauty, blooming rapidly and dangerously.

Finally, here's a true hero on showing the strengths of transformation!

1728543417644.png

Hero of the Sea (Palafin-Hero) (M) @ Mystic Water
Ability: Zero to Hero
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Jet Punch
- Wave Crash
- Acrobatics
- Helping Hand
Palafin represents the unsung heroes of nature. A great example is Coral Reefs! Like Palafin, they protect lots of things, providing shelter and sustenance to countless species in the animal kingdom. The mystic water itself is beautiful, and putting it on Palafin is like a superhero's accessory, like Green Lantern's ring or Wonder Woman's lasso. The Jolly nature represents an upbeat and happy protector of the sea, using the water to his advantage. This is demonstrated by his amazing Acrobatics skills, being able to lend a Helping Hand to Pokemon in need. In Pokedex entries, it's said it can swim at speeds of 50 knots to save drowning Pokemon or People. That's more than double of what the world's fastest man can run! He's really just the hero that we needed. The 252 Attack EVs represent the strength of a hero, while the Speed represents its faster-than-a-jet movement.

In this competition, I've decided to showcase the natural Beauty and Harmony of the Pokemon Kingdom. Each Pokemon here represents its own gorgeous visuals, but additionally its unique abilities and narratives that reflect their amazing roles in nature. From the Ethereal Warrior of Iron Valiant, to the Flower Caretaker of Florges, the Pokemon Kingdom has so much diversity in its aesthetics. I hope you enjoyed reading, and have a nice day!

{I dont know how to get rid of this Florges sorry D:}

Power of the Moon

A team of moon based pokemon (no Lunala sadly, no GS cup...)

Ursaluna blood moon can sweep in either Trick Room of Tailwind

Cresselia can heal allies and set trick room

Clefable I just made an AV sweeper for some reason

Umbreon is Registeel at home (it's still got a good design though, just not the dubstep voice)

Roaring Moon sets tailwind and is a faster sweeper

Clefairy is redirection and can throw out Stealth rocks to act like it's helping

Congratulations to LuBiStar20 for winning!

:sv/necrozma:

This weeks Pokemon is Necrozma. While not often seen, Necrozma is still a strong option on psyspam teams with STAB expanding force and good coverage with earth power, power gem and meteor beam, most recently being used in SCL.

Due to the late announcement, building ends on Saturday 19th

And following the success of Hugo's aesthetics competition, I will try and incorporate some more unique teambuilding competitions like that in the future.

Its been a while but we are back!!!

:sv/spectrier:

This weeks Pokemon is Spectrier. While not being very common it has started to pick up some steam on both ladder and in tournament, thanks to its ability to set up and or to steamroll through teams with its ability Grim Neigh, all while boasting a great base speed of 130.

Building ends on Friday 31st

Hi everyone. Not sure how this works exactly but I figured I'd give it a go because I am loving building.
Shoutout to ratpacker for the Spectrier set.

Spectrier Support
:spectrier: :kingambit: :glimmora: :tornadus: :iron-hands: :chien-pao:

I was reading in one of the team dumps posted here that willo wisp incineroar provides a lot of value. So I kinda wanted to try wisp spectrier as it is faster and comes with a fake out immune. In a discussion I saw in the discord, I learned that incineroar is a pretty easy stop to this thing. So ultimately I decided to add kingambit to punish any potential incin switches. From there my brain auto focused on how to handle things like Archaludon, Landorus, Chien - Pao and Iron Hands. I think I'm 1 for 6 in Meteor Beam hits but regardless I think offensive glimmora is super fun. Main reason behind it is it kinda compresses the role of threatening all the previously mentioned pokemon, so that the other members can ease up in their roles a little more. Anyway, hope you guys like it, peace

This is a team Europe built in 2023. It features:
  • Spectrier - Main wincon
  • Chi-Yu - Second wincon
  • 4 support Pokemon
This team is very outdated, but I wanted to leave it here to make it public and for anyone who wants to have a take on it

Gameplan is to setup one wincon and make it clear while the rest redirect hits, force 1v1s, screens and intim. Glimm is a weird mu
