Pet Mod SylveMons (Discussion Phase)

I'm thinking on the Tier list we should list some significant changes/new moves that may be effecting their ranking, or is that a bad idea?

Name: Heat Lightning
Existing Move?: N
Category: Special
Type: Electric
PP: 10 (16 Max)
Accuracy: 95
Power: 100
Effect: dual Fire/Electric type, but not blocked by fire resist/immunitt abilities like Thick Fat or Heat Proof. 10% burn or paralysis chance.
Priority: 0
Misc.: Dual Typed. SE Vs Steel, Flying, Bug and Ice. Resisted by Rock, Fire. 4x resisted by Dragon, and 0x vs Ground.
Z-Move:
Niche:
4 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Tauros Heat Lightning vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Skarmory: 322-380 (96.6 - 114.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
Distribution: Fairly open, TBH

That's all I gotta say there!

Name: Howl
Existing Move?: Y
Category: Misc
Type: Dark
BP: Same
PP: Same
Effect: Lowers enemy attack by 1, and raises users by 1
Priority: 0
Misc.: None. Sound based for what its worth. If it fails to lower attack, it fails to boost user's.
Z-Move: Unchanged
Niche: Howl sucks. By being both Growl and a +1 attack, it means setting up in the face of a 'counter' can be a lot easier to pull off.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Current distribution is low, but Arcanine and Entei will sure enjoy this huge buff.

Name: Coil
Existing Move?: Y
Category: Misc
Type: Dark
BP: Same
PP: Same
Effect: Same
Mostly a distribution slate. While I'm against Gyarados being made stronger, Onix and Steelix could use this well to strike with a mean Iron Tail! Not sure Dragonite thru Dratini would use it, but it's there. This is mostly for the Onyx line.

Name: Shield Slam
Existing Move?: N
Category: Physical
Type: Steel
PP: 10 (16 Max)
Accuracy: 100
Power: 80
Effect: Uses the user's defense stat to determine power.
Priority: 0
Misc.: No added effects. Makes contact.
Z-Move:
Niche:
How can you say no to this for the many defensive steel and Rock types. Registeel, Regirock, Aggron, Shuckle, Steelix, .... Aegislash. Even Magnezone can use it to get a dent in Special Defensive walls. And Staka... oh.

Speaking Arcanine...

Pokemon: Growlithe/Arcanine
New Typing: Fire/Normal
New Moves: Noble Roar, Hyper Voice
To be fair, I coulda gone with Dragon or Fairy or anything else, but Normal means some strong ESpeed enjoyment. With Howl's benefit mixed with Intimidate, you can really set up a nasty STAB +2 priority attack, and Steel types won't like your Fire STAB.

Doesn't solve all of its problems, but it gives it a slight edge.

Pokemon: Drowzee/Hypno
New Typing: Psychic/Poison
New Moves: Sludge Wave, Sludge Bomb, Acid Armor
A stretch, I know, but the idea of using gasses to help enduce a hypnotic state doesn't seem too farfetched. Even still, Hypno is far from top tier, even in PU, and a new Ground weakness won't save that!

Name: Snow Cloak/Sand Veil/Wet Suit/Bask
Existing Ability?: Yes2/No2
Effect: In respective weather, this Pokemon takes 33% less damage from all but NvE moves (Includes Stealth Rocks)
Niche: Rather than forcing evasion ban, give it a defensive twist. Suddenly Sand Veil Garchomp seems a lot more viable!
Distribution: truth be known, other than the current Cloak/Veil users, I don't know. Gliscor will still want Poison Heal, so it's between Garchomp, Stunfisk and Donphan seeing most use. Snow Cloak Articuno might be a serious contendor if its ability wasn't traded out. Mamoswine might enjoy its place on Snow Teams, but it's a bit niche even with Thick Fat providing less type resistance.

As for Sun and Rain? Bask is so open ended non-fire types that seems to like loafing in the sun, such as reptiles, would be quite appreciative. Wet Suit is also open ended. It could even fit something like Donphan to put him on Rain Teams for electric blockage.

A few things.
1. Swap Rotom-Fan and Celebi. Celebi isn’t bad but it just isn’t A-. Rotom-Fan is very bulky with Levitate and is overall a good defensive Pokémon here.
2. Rank base Aerodactyl at C+ or B-. With Pluck, the base has become a very reliable rocker that also can serve as an anti-lead lead (as in a lead that beats other leads) with Unnerve, preventing Mulp Berry shenanigans.
3. Rank Pineco at C-. Mulp Berry shenanigans ftw

Swapped Celebi and Rotom-Fan. I didn't rank Pineco as I think it is clearly outclassed by Forretress, which has some defensive utility and can set up SR repeatedly in the match. I didn't rank Aerodactyl either, because suicide leads are quite useless in a metagame with Housekeeping, which easily removes all of the hazards they set up. This might change if future testing proves otherwise. Thanks for the help though! :D

Name: Heedless
Existing Ability?: N
Effect: The user ignores any speed modifier before attacking every turn. So a Heedless Zeraora would still be outsped by Mega Alakazam, but it would outrun Choice Scarf Blacephalon, Magearna after a Shift Gear, and Trick Room Stakataka.
Niche: A great offensive counterplay for Trick Room, and overall a great tool for Offensive teams alike.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Dodrio, Tauros, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Mightyena, Delcatty, Luxray, Zebstrika, Boufallant, Pyroar, Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Sceptile, Mega Gallade, Zeraora. (My original idea is for only the fully evolved Pokémon to get it).

Name: Anger Point / Stamina / Infuriation / Perseverance / Stalwart
Effect: Boosts the Attack / Defense / Special Attack / Special Defense / Speed stat when hit by an attack.
Niche: Interesting abilities to spice up the metagame a bit!
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Mankey line, Tauros, Camerupt, Gallade, Sandile line, Axew line, Tyrunt line, Litten line, Crabrawler line; Wooper line, Makuhita line, Anorith line, Druddigon, Mudbray line; Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Cyndaquil line, Ho-oh, Yveltal; Chikorita line, Lugia, Gardevoir, Meditite line, Lileep line, Amaura line, Xerneas, Popplio line; Totodile line, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Zygarde-10%, Zygarde-50%, Rowlet line, Zeraora.

Mega Gallade has Knight’s Blade, so I would advise letting it keep that ability. Other than that, these are really cool! Also, I don’t know if giving the legendary birds new abilities when they all set weathers now is a good idea. Also, Lugia certainly does not need it.

Why do I always miss the fun? Anyways:
Name: Spike Cannon / Arm Thrust / Poison Sting / Bubble Beam
Existing Move?: Yep
Category: Physical / Special (only Bubble Beam)

Misc.: Aaaaab.
Z-Move: Aaaaaaaaab.
Niche: Aaaab.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: C, D, E, F...
solgaleo.gif

steel.gif
fire.gif

New Moves: Flame Bullet, Incinerate, Will-O-Wisp, Swords Dance maybe.
Abilites: Same as before. Maybe Drought as a HA.
Rationale: It's based on the Sun, which is somewhat related to Fire in Pokemon. It's also the only non-Fire-type that learns Flare Blitz and one of the few that learns Flame Charge.
Competitive Value: Just look how many resistances it got lol: 1 Inmunity to Poison, 5 strong resistances to Bug, Fairy, Grass, Steel and Ice and regular resistances to Dragon, Flying, Normal and Psychic. It obviously suffers from being weak to conmon coverage options as Ground and Fighting, but it cannot be worse than it was before.

lunala.gif

ghost.gif
fairy.gif

New Moves: Double Slap, Shadow Charge.
Abilites: Same as before. Maybe Shadow Surge as a HA.
Rationale: It's associated to the moon and it learns Moonblast and Moonlight, and Moon is conmonly associated to Fairies and Dark-types in Pokemon.
Competitive Value: Great typing both deffensively and offensively due to just leaving it with 2 weaknesses to Ghost and Steel and hitting all the Uber tier at least neutrally.

(Ultra)
New Moves: Double Slap, Sucker Punch, Dazzling Gleam, Cross Chop, Nasty Plot, Poison Jab.
Dusk Mane gains all the moves that Solgaleo can learn.
Dawn Wings gains all the moves that Lunala can learn.
Abilites:
Same as before. Maybe Magic Bounce as a HA, Full Metal Body or Drought as a HA for DM, Shadow Shield or Shadow Shield as a HA for DW.
Rationale: Associated to eclipses, dead stars, black holes and black duarfs, which are basically resemblances to Dark-type in Pokemon. Keeps Psychic-type on regular and dusk-mane due to the brain cell thing.
Rationale (Ultra): Duuuhhhh, I just didn't want another Psychic legendary mon and it didn't make too much sense keeping it part Dark due to being literally based on giant stars and supernovae. Oh, and this also distinguishes Necrozma-DM and Necrozma-DW when they ultra burst.
Competitive Value: Psychic/Dark typing isn't reaaally better than Mono-Psychic, but at least it isn't as reliant on Ground and Bug type coverage as before, due to Knock Off punishing conmon switch-ins and having other strong coverage options like Cross Chop or Poison Jab for other Dark and Fairy-types respectively. Oh, and Special sets are more reliable due to the new aditions of Nasty Plot and Dazzling Gleam, yay.
Competitive Value (DM): Same as before but with competition from Solgaleo.
Competitive Value (DW): While it isn't as good offensively as Lunala, but hell yeah it's bulky as heck with a great defensive typing and supportive movepool. It can also put some offensive pressure due to its huge SpA and decent offensive movepool. In fact, an offensive set either double dance or OTR can be usable due to its good bulk and the aformentioned tools.
Competitive Value (Ultra): More versatile than before due to its new movepool aditions and typings. (I'll add a better description later)

slaking.gif

New Hidden Ability: Klutz
Rationale: Slaking is really lazy and clumsy and he can't properly use items with his big paws.
Competitive Value: Slaking is now much more viable. He has got monstrous stats but can't use items, so he's kinda comparable to Mega evolutions.
Name: Sleigh Rampage
Existing Move?: N
Category:
physical.png

Type:
ice.gif

PP: 10 (16 max)
Accuracy: 100%
Power: 180
Effect: Raises the user's Attack and Speed by 1.
Misc.: Makes contact.
Z-Move: 220 BP Subzero Slammer
Pokemon with this move: Delibird
Niche: I want to see Delibird sweep teams with his Hustle boosted Sleigh Rampage. This probably won't make Delibird good because it still has a shit typing, shit stats and shit coverage, but it might give Delibird a niche as a glass cannon sweeper.

Name: Powder Snow
Existing Move?: Y
Type:
ice.gif

Category:
special.png

BP: 40
Acc: 100
PP: 30 (48 max)
Effect: +1 priority
Misc.: N/A
Z-Move: 100 BP Subzero Slammer
Niche: Special priority that fits better with Ice-type special attackers than Ice Shard does.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Current distribution, plus all Ice-type special attackers

Name: Spark
Existing Move?: Y
Type:
electric.gif

Category:
physical.png

BP: 40
Acc: 100
PP: 30 (48 max)
Effect: +1 priority, 10% chance to paralyze
Misc.: makes contact
Z-Move: 100 BP Gigavolt Havoc
Niche: Physical priority for Electric-type Pokemon.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Current distribution, plus Electric-type physical attackers (except Tapu Koko, caution with Light Ball users)

Name: Shock Wave
Existing Move?: Y
Type:
electric.gif

Category:
special.png

BP: 40
Acc: 100
PP: 30 (48 max)
Effect: +1 priority, 10% chance to paralyze
Misc.: N/A
Z-Move: 100 BP Gigavolt Havoc
Niche: Special priority for Electric-type Pokemon.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: All Pokemon that naturally get it, plus Electric-type special attackers (except Tapu Koko, caution with Light Ball users), may need to remove it from the Pokemon that learn it through TM

Name: Hyperspace Hole
Existing Move?: Y
Type:
psychic.gif

Category:
special.png

BP: 80
Acc: --
PP: 5 (8 max)
Effect: +2 priority, never misses
Misc.: Hits through Protect-type moves
Z-Move: 160 BP Shattered Psyche
Niche: A Psychic-type special Extremespeed, more fitting of the definition of hyperspace as "a faster-than-light method of traveling". Besides giving Hoopa-Confined a specially buffed signature move, maybe it could be given to some other Pokemon associated with hyperspace?
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Not sure Hoopa-Unbound should get it since it's scary enough, but maybe Ultra Space travelers like Necrozma and Solgaleo/Lunala line, and things like Arceus, Palkia, Dialga, Giratina, Lake Trio
Name: Battle Armor
Existing Ability?: Y
Effect: The original effect of protecting from critical hits, with the added effect of reducing super effective damage taken by 25%.
Niche: Separates Battle Armor from Shell Armor, and allows Battle Armor users to have more defensive use.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Current distribution, maybe others but not sure

Name: Shell Armor
Existing Ability?: Y
Effect: The original effect of protecting from critical hits, with the added effect of protecting the Pokemon from non-volatile status effects (except statusing itself with a move like Rest).
Niche: Separates Shell Armor from Battle Armor, and allows Shell Armor users to absorb status for the team.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Current distribution, maybe others but not sure

Name: Infiltrator
Existing Ability?: Y
Effect: The original effect plus ignoring the boosts provided by the target's held item, Magic Coat, and Protect-type moves when attacking.
Niche: Penetrates Eviolite, Assault Vest, Assault Shield, Home-Run Bat, ignores berries that neutralize weaknesses, etc., which gives offensive Pokemon an easier time dealing damage.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Current distribution, maybe others but not sure

Type:

Dark.png

Ability: Intimidate
New Moves: Bite, Pursuit, Switcheroo, Taunt
Justification/Competitive: WIP

Name: Trail Blaze
Existing Move?: No
Category: Physical
Type: Fire
BP: 40
PP: 32 Max
Effect: 100% Accuracy. If the opponent switches out, this move's power is doubled.
Priority: 0 (Higher priority than switching if the opponent is switching out)
Misc.: Makes contact
Z-Move: 100 BP Inferno Overdrive
Niche: The reason why I made this rhymes with "Versace (VER-sah-chee)"
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Fire-types in general, horse-like Pokemon (Oregon Trail/Portland Trail Blazers reference)

Name: Aqua Assault
Existing Move?: No
Category: Physical
Type: Water
BP: 120
PP: 8 Max
Effect: 100% Accuracy. Lowers the Defense and Special Defense by 1.
Priority: 0
Misc.: Makes contact
Z-Move: 190 BP Hydro Vortex
Niche: There needs to be more physical Water moves, so here.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Physical Water-types

Name: Tormentor's Toll
Existing Move?: No
Category: Status
Type: Ghost
BP: --
PP: 16 Max
Effect: 100% Accuracy, the user heals itself by an equal amount to the opponent's Special Attack stat and lowers the opponent's Special Attack
Priority: 0
Misc.: N/A
Z-Move: Raises the user's Special Defense by one
Niche: Everybody knows how ridiculously good Strength Sap is, seeing how it singlehandedly gives Vileplume a niche in UU and RU. Now, here's the special version and all I'm going to say is GIVE IT TO BANETTE.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: B A N E T T E, other Ghost and Dark-types, but don't go overboard.

Name: X-Scissor
Existing Move?: Yes
Category: Physical
Type: Bug
BP: 80
PP: 24 Max
Effect: 100% Accuracy. Removes Rooms
Priority: 0
Misc.: Makes contact, Blade move
Z-Move: 160 BP Savage-Spin Out
Niche: If you've seen Ash VS Valerie in the anime, you know exactly where I'm coming from. Also, we need a reason to use X-Scissor over Leech Life, Twineedle, and Bug Bite.
Potential Pokemon With This Move: Current distribution is fine
Name: Mind Warp
Existing Ability?: No
Effect: Upon switch-in, Magic Room is set-up for 5 turns (8 when the Room Extender is held). (Slight update to Magic Room itself, but due to the nature of the items Relic Charm and Rage Candy Bar being similar to the Primal Orbs, they still activate in Magic Room).
Niche: Makes Magic Room actually usable, as the opponent's items become useless while the user can hold a Z-Crystal or Mega Stone (or be a Mega) and feel nothing. The more important thing, however, is that rooms replace other rooms and we need more counterplay to Trick Room than just Jirachi.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Fennekin, Misdreavus, Gothita line, Psyduck line, Cutiefly line

Name: Sole Caliber
Existing Ability?: No
Effect: Boosts the power of kicking moves by 1.2x. (List: Jump Kick, High Jump Kick, Mega Kick, Double Kick, Blaze Kick, Trop Kick, Low Kick, Low Sweep, Rolling Kick, Triple Kick, Stomp, High Horsepower)
Niche: Kicking moves need more love, and this gives them a nifty power boost. Also, so Pokemon with a lot of kicking moves could use a better ability.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Hitmonlee, Tsareena, Doduo line, (Mega) Blaziken, Lopunny, Mienfoo line, Ponyta line, Mudbray line, Pheromosa

Name: Sugar Glider
Existing Ability?: No
Effect: This Pokemon's has its Speed doubled in an Air Current
Niche: The new weathers could use some help, so a Swift Swim clone could work nicely.
Potential Pokemon With This Ability: Pokemon that visually glide, Rowlet line, Tornadus-Therian, Vikavolt
Name: Custap Berry
Existing Item?: Yes
Effect: When at 1/4 HP or less at the start of the turn, this item is consumed and the holder moves first in their priority bracket. Also, this item is now released.
Removable via Knock Off?: Yes
Ignored by Klutz?: Yes
Fling BP: 10
Niche: Suicide leads and Snorlax as a revenge killer anybody?!
oricorio-pau.gif
oricorio-sensu.gif
oricorio-pompom.gif
oricorio.gif

Pokemon: Oricorio
New typing: N/A
New Ability: Serene Grace
New Moves: Fiery Dance, Heat Wave, Quiver Dance, Copycat
Niche: This thing's movepool got inexplicably shafted. I know it, You know it. We all know it. Let's fix it. Also, Serene Grace Fiery Dance? Yes please.
floatzel.gif

Pokemon: Floatzel
New typing: Water -> Water/Fighting
New Ability: N/A
New Moves: Swords Dance, Stomping Tantrum, Double Kick, Knock Off, Drain Punch
Niche: Can we pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase make Floatzel good? Please?
pachirisu.gif

Pokemon: Pachirisu
New typing: Electric -> Electric/Grass
New Ability: Housekeeping (Replaces Run Away), Stamina (Replaces Volt Absorb; World Champion reference; change to Perseverance if it wins)
New Moves: Wild Charge, Morning Sun, Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Aromatherapy, Bullet Seed, Leech Seed, Leaf Tornado, Grassy Terrain, Pluck (that tooth tho)
Niche: Pachirisu doesn't really live up to the world champion name in singles. I know it's supposed to be an underdog, the 2007 New York Giants of Pokemon if you will, but forget that, I want it to be more like the 1986 New York Giants. A better type? Check. Way better abilities? Check x2. A niche? Housekeeping with a Knock Off clone, I mean that's decent enough. Some more moves, too? Sure, that's how that last statement is going to work. Now this is more like it, this squirrel went from David Tyree to Lawrence Taylor real quick!
accelgor.gif

Pokemon: Accelgor
New typing: Bug -> Bug/Dark
New Ability: Swarm (Replaces Hydration)
New Moves: Dark Pulse, Pursuit, Nasty Plot, Shadow Sneak, Night Slash, Acid Spray, Swords Dance
Niche: Can we pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase make Accelgor good? Please?

Frankly I thought we assumed all items unreleased were already released here by default, due to the nature of the meta. I say we consider everything released for now. I would ask the rest of the council but this isn’t so big.

Tiny little announcement about the coding progress of SylveMons.
Usually I wouldn't do this, but in this instance it's important as Inverse Room, Dimension Warp, Obstinacy, and Room Extender are all coded, thanks to charizard8888!
All 4 of these things are huge game changers, so I encourage all of you to try them out!

(Also voting will start in a few hours!)

Oh yeah and since I was the only person to submit an item barring the moot point of the Custap Berry, the Safety Socks won by default.

Blaaaaaargh! I just missed the deadline by a few hours!

Oh well, guess my work is done for next slate.

I'll vote soon. Need to evaluate quickly.
