Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Sorry I keep putting up bad stuff to build with, tbf I have perfectionist syndrome which is why I don't like building too much, anyways may as well throw up a new idea.
I guess I'm currently thinking a Sand Team featuring both Hippowdon and Tyranitar. The rationale is due to Sand no longer being permanent, two inducers instead of one can keep Sand up much more reliably for stuff like Excadrill. Also Hippowdon can hold Smooth Rock freeing up a item slot on Tyranitar, allowing it to fulfill another role (can be Band, Exp Belt, Scarf, Tyranitarite I really don't care). Seeing as Hippowdon is in the mix this would probably be a balanced team, though it's cool if you go for offense or stall as well. I already built a team with this but I'm interested to see what you can do.
If you decide the prior idea was too far gone to save (I figured from the start it was either revolutionary, insane, or both), here's something else I've been interested in: CM Sweeper Keldeo. This set essentially forgoes the sheer power of Choice Specs for the ability to set up mid-late game once all its checks and counters are gone and sweep from there. The partners I've picked are Scarf Tyranitar and Balloon Heatran, as the two beat a lot of Keldeo's checks and counters between them: Tyranitar removes the Lati Twins and slows down BirdSpam, while Heatran beats Sylveon, Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and stops Talonflame, at the same time setting up SR to keep BirdSpam down. If you think alternative partners that do more than these two are fine, then you can replace them. Thanks in advance.
Because you manipulate the metal like Magneton, I have come to you for guidance of a new Hawlucha set that I am just waiting to break out:
Hawlucha@no item
EV's: 252 Atk/200 Spe/56 HP
Trait: Limber
Jolly Nature
-Swords Dance
-High Jump Kick
-Acrobatics
-Stone Edge
The issue i see is...Why would you run a sub-optimal set to beat Thundurus when you want to pair Raikou with it? Hawlucha's niche is being a setup sweeper that is impossible to outspeed after a boost, while this set is revenge killed by scarfers and mons such as Greninja and Tornadus-T which you usually don't lose to after setting up. Stone edge is okay-ish I guess to get past Zapdos, but it is relatively uncommon and it's better left to teammates. Your set surprises Hawlucha's usual checks but i don't think it's worth it as it gives up on Hawlucha's best traits. Also:
252+ Atk Mega Heracross Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Hawlucha: 255-300 (81.9 - 96.4%) -- approx. 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
It does not counter Mega Heracross, it's just a check (which are not hard to find as Heracross is easy to outspeed and has relatively common weaknesses)
apart from my horrible spelling this is a simple defencive core i put together. the two work really well together personally. calm mind cof has been a favourite of mine because it can live a few hits to calm mind then pain split. Not only that but he hits hard and is near un-killable at +6 sp.d and max def. While these two might work well together they are in dire need of physical attackers. Also sorry for the bad discription really dont have much to say.
Hi ctc! I'd like you to make a balance team around this little guy. The spread lets you outspeed +speed natured base 70's like breloom. Other then that its a pretty standard Tail glow set. I had one earlier in the gen but It fell off pretty hard so I'm needing to get something new. Thanks ahead of time if you decide to :] Also if you could explain how you made it that would be a nice bonus.
I am back.
I want to use Stall for the first time, and knowing me, I'll probably fail pretty bad first time. So I'll drop it off to you.
I want to use a stall Mega Chompy. It can phaze with Dragon Tail and heal with ResTalk. EVs are made to take LO thundy HP Ice and max physical bulk out.
Heatran is a Rock setter and is a part of the FWG core. Will-O Is to get burns, Lava Plume so it isn't taunt bait, Rocks are rocks, and Taunt is to beat opposing stallers and Roar to phaze even more.
Amoonguss is the Grass part and a part of Regen Core. SpDef spread is used cause Alomomola is PhysDef. Giga is STAB+Recovery, Clear Smog is to stop set up sweepers, Spore is obvious, and Leech Seed to get some chip.
Mola can take physical hits and provides Wish Support. Scald is attack, Toxic is for whittle damage, And Wish Tect.
Hey CTC, I finally decided to make my own team, its kinda rubbish, but got me to ~2200 reqs before i cbsd reqs and had a pretty good w/l ratio (even thought i got haxed immensely, as im sure everyone did getting reqs).
My team is rain HO, but unlike the usual politoed/kabutops, i am using beartic, i love this thing, and i find it to be one of the best cleaners in the game.
My team right now is
Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Focus Blast
- Perish Song
- Toxic
- Scald
Basic defensive frog, perish song for set up shit(mostly cmers) and fb for ferrothorn, who really threatens this team.
Beartic @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Jet/encore
- Icicle Crash
Unfortuanately doesnt get to set up often, as if something resists its attacks, it can usually ohko back, encore is for setting up, which as i mentioned before, doesnt work too well, and aqua jet is preffered, as i outspeed talon flame in rain, and do ~70%.
Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
Basic hydro spam + fb for ferro
Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Rain Dance
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Taunt
Secondary rain setter, in case of crits on poli or shit like goth, and also packs a punch. Taunt is for chansey, but i still get murdered by it, unless i kill it with beartic/perish song as the last poke.
Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Hydro Pump
Does a fuck load of damage with surf. Basically anything that doesnt resist and isnt named "obese pink thing," gets killed ez, also tanks a talonflame bb most of the time( if not banded).
Kyurem-Black @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 32 SpA / 224 Spe
Naive Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
Idk, but seems to be stronk and kill stuff
*Disclaimer*
I am not asking you to rate my team, as it loses to too much shit to be ready for a rate, I am asking you to build me a team using some of the shit here(Please use the polar bear).
I have also tried damp rock lati@s > tornadus for healing wish/defog support, and i just get walled by shit.
Thanks, and please make me a sick bear team.
CTC I know that you built lots of fking zard teams i understand but i just want to see you build a fking explosion lando-t cuz it blows shit up you don't have to use fking zard cuz that shit is bout to get banned.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock / SD / Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Explosion
NIGGGGGGA hey yal u can physicallly go to team FUCKINH builder, import one of these 12 FUCKING hundred lant+zard teams, and click on FUCKING lando t
then FUCKING toss explosion on it
TOSS FUCKING BOOM ON IT,,,, U CAN DO IT! literally all these teams can be subject 2 change, edit them however the fuck u guys want; i almost never use the same team twice so most of these first drafts r gonna be flawed. every time i use a team i find things to edit, so if u guys have been testin shit then lmk what can be fixed! thnx in advance
It's a team around MScizor. 108 Spd to outspeed Heatran, Superpower for the steel (Ferroth, Tran, Skarm). Now Bisharp and Scizor have the same counter : Keldeo, so I use Bisharp as a lure with Psycho Cut (Clean kill with PC and Sucker Punch) ==> GG Scizor
Last but not the least, the classic Rotom-W for the stallmon like Skarm, Gliscor, Landorus-T. I think that we can make a solid team around this core. I see no real counter to this core, except for the DDmon.
Thank you in advance !
Hi CTC
I would appreciate if you could build a team around "PartingShot," I thought that with the arrival of the new generation it could find more space, however no one uses it. Do you think you could build a competitive team or is it just a fun idea to team. Only two pokemon are able to use Parting Shot: Pangoro and Smeargle (obv). I know that I can not make demands on one pokemon but more could take advantage of the effect of this move, I hope we can make an exception this time, thanks.
- subsplit is so much better than this gar set, which is worn down way too fast and loses to chansey lo stall of all things. replaced sludge with split right off the bat.
- hp elec over hp ice on keld bc i found the team was a bit gyara weak. seemed a bit dnite weak after that so i opted for hp ice over cannon on tran.
- hp fire > foul play on amoon bc ferro could be a bit annoying, espec to gard because focus blast misses way too much, and otherwise it could pretty much freely seed and wear everything down.
- 252 hp / 136 def / 120 spd bold on amoon to deal with azumarill, which otherwise with bd up would 6-0 and generally spdef amoon isn't equipped to handle azu that well as knock off does a lot and it gets worn down p easily.
- 29 hp iv on gar to hit a lo number, 4 hp evs -> def on keld for hazards number.
i like alakazam. he has spoons and he floats them in the air. he can also trace ur sand rush exca and sweep ur fockin team, or he can trace protean and fock ur team up tht way. also poison heal trace dabes against gliscor and it also has more freedom to pick its coverage. also has majestic facial hair~
i would like a full out offensive team with this guy. idc rly what it ends up to be, i just want it to be offense. this guy has really been overshadowed by hera/garde/cham but it has a good matchup vs offense as well as stall.

resuming,
ninja zard is cool so i thot id go dual weather since u can spin. zard mew tar exca was m boi hugos format but i made it more offensive. mew needs psy otherwise rak shits in my ass and hawlucha is a problem.
gk ninja is to hit tar harder incase for sum reason sun is up idk so i can get fire ice grass aka the patented dash lord coverage as seen in bw rp gene and shuca rachi. idk if weath ball works so hp fire on venu is fine too
whoever askd for sable+wobb, i see little to no synergy btwn the 2 seeing as sable is troubled by spattackers, fairies, fires, and generally status mons. wob only handles some of these threats and most of them have status(tran) or setup (clef/talon) etc. i thought having wob to trap and kill a heavy hitter (gard n cham being the most prominent ones) would be gr8 for a cune sweep. threw in mega tar to pursuit the mons who try to status u like tran, bliss etc. tar also suits the non thund electric types like raik and manec, easily crippling them so they cant stop cune. this is a p solid idea but im sure team can use improvements. i like it quite a bit
Wobbuffet (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 HP / 228 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Mirror Coat
- Counter
- Tickle
- Encore
the lucha + kou team. ep lant is to damage shit that need a nudge to be killed by lucha, like clef azu quag zor etc. i also dont like to be outsped by the 2 psychic megas and ep allows me to kill gard w/o rocks and cham w rocks.
Bisharp (F) @ Black Glasses
Trait: Defiant
EVs: 192 HP / 220 Atk / 96 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
Volty mana is outclassed by mons like spexkeld, azu, mega gard/cham/hera since those mons have a defensive niche besides their water typings, hit hard right off the bat, or stallbreak w/o setup. mana is an awkward mon since its too weak off the bat, too slow after setting up, and not strong enuf to stallbreak all by itself. its still p viable but idk not a fan. Bomber92 parting shot has ass distribution so nah,,,, Coton feel free to toss shit sets on mons on any of these teams Smog Frog p sure alread posted zam team. it aint good
shoutout jukain n ben gay 4 suggestions but lordsquads have no weaknesses so u 2 can go fuck urselvs
jk
- red97 p sure made ches tran team already, nothign special in synergy. slowbro n rak have very little synergy since one is an ho mon and ones defensive,,,,
@darkshadowfire,,, idk how to put it in the least hurtful way but,,, i think the thread ur lookin for is the team building 101 guide in the serebii forums,,, lemme direct u to the page where it shows u the format in which u post mons' sets,,,,, www.gofuckurself.com/format byronthewellwell if u want THE beartic team i would have to direct u to www.youtube.com/user/thunderblunder777 which is where u may find my beartic team being used by a talented yun xy ouer,,,, Lord Ninjax hippo tar sand is redundant, esp if u toss an exca then ud have to check waters grasses stall mega hera/gard/cham etc all w just 3 slots. hippo rlly is doodoo this meta
Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 248 SDef / 12 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
This team in particular caught my eye, but I felt like it had a few gaping weaknesses that I felt the need to fix.
-Give dnite tpunch>firepunch and spower>eq. This is a minor issue but this team happens to be very azumarill weak hence tpunch. You still hit skarm and superpower allows you to smack ferro, tran, baloon exca and ttar. I don't think you lose out on anything you couldn't hit before. Also add 40 hp evs detracted from speed bcs I don't see what you would be outspeeding if you ran max. Enough for max speed adamant mega hera is a good benchmark.
-Make clefable's ev spread 252 hp / 160 def / 96 spdef calm as gr8 stated before but also give it sr>cm. Clef rly isn't bulky enuf to run cm if its not max def from my experience and it can function as a better support mon for this team by being a solid switchin to latis, thundy and gren. However this makes it more vulnerable to the likes of medi and hera but with the help of team support, it can be averted.
-Make heatran scarfed timid with overheat / flash cannon / stone edge / hp ice. This team would really appreciate a fast mon, even better a revenge killer! Powerful stallbreakers such as cham, hera, lando, zard y etc. were very troublesome to this team. Scarftran still retains the resistances needed for this team while still acts as a failsafe if you're in a bad position. Hp ice to ohko +1 dnite after sr since fable is 2hkod by eq and it is a threat otherwise. Mega manec got alot of momentum if it wasn't as well.
-Give reflect type>toxic on starmie. It allows it to not be pursuit bait, beat ferro, tran, amoon, loom 1v1, and toxic doesn't seem to hit anything notable :x. Small nitpick but distribute 32 sp def evs in starmie to always live a lo draco from latias at full.
-Give gliscor 200 speed evs to outspeed adamant excadrill, stallbreaker mew, smeargle, and max speed jolly mega hera. A small loss in bulk to beat a few rly annoying ass mons is worth it if you ask me.
-Going to test tbolt>flamethrower on fable because as it is this team has a huge issue with megaddos at +1 and going to try energyball>tbolt on rachi since rotom seems really annoying to the team as clefable is my only switchin.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Taunt
This is an awesome defensive core imo because they cover each other weaknesses nearly perfectly and there aren't many things that can break through this core. Anyway things like mega pinsir, azu and medicham can demolish it so it's necessary cover them with something fat like slowbro or zapdos or for more offensive options thundy and talon.
The evs are standard but it's probably necessary to customize them, do it as you prefer, you can customize heatran's moveset too, i just put a random one but make it as you want.
Also the playstyle can be balanced or more defensive, but like before it's up to you.
Another core that came to my mind is for a balanced team:
Terrakion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
With aegi gone, this set becomes awesome against both offense and stall, vs offense it sets up rock polish and sweeps, vs difense it sets up sd and sweeps.
Slowbro is a good partner for terrakion as it walls many things that threaten it, priority abusers like azu talon and scizor (even if it fears knock off/u-turn, fire blast can be used for that), it walls also mega medicham that resists kion's moves and can deal with ground-flying types.
There are some flaws that have to be fixed like venusaur and thundy, but i think it's a good core to build around.
Let me know if you are able to build them :).
my last few cores ive been posting have been god awful. i think im going to have to work on my teambuilding skills. Anyways.... i think ill give it another try. also question: is mega aerodacytal viable in ou?
this might be a shaky combo of pokes but i think ill give it a try
Charizard Charizardite y
nature: timid
evs: 4 hp/252 sp.a/252 spd
moves:
fire blast
roost
solarbeam
focus blast
this is a standerd charizard y set. if this set doesnt work with the current core a more bulky zard might be better. Anyways this zard hits like a truck and destroys everything in sight. The set also has good coverage. Earthquake might be helpful instead of focus blast....
This set works fairly well with charizard y as it covers his electric weakness. Not only that but amoongus can stop setup sweeper thanks to clear smog and can put pokemon to sleep or paralized. Amoongus can also be very annoying to most pokemon.
conkeldurr @assult vest
nature: careful/adament
evs: not sure
ability: iron fist/ sheer force
moves:
drain punch
mach punch
ice punch
earthquake/fire punch/bulk up
This is supossed to be a assult vest set but im not to sure of the evs on this thing. amoongus helps cover the fairy weakness but the flying type weakness is really big on the team. This hits hard while still having decent bulk.
The team needs somthing that can tank flying type moves as they will break this core fairly easy. Really hope this is a better core then what i normally request.
dont worry ctc. im well aware im god awful at team building. if you dont mind putting up with my god awful core ill keep on trying. if not ill stop posting. ok ctc if you will bear with me one last time i have this core. (i do however thank you for being so kind)
Alright if you would be kind to give me this one chance heres the core its kind of balenced and is a two mon core.
This is a standerd dd t-tar set combined with gengar they really cover each others weaknesses well. i chose stealth rocks in case a hazzard setter does not fit well on the team. i prefer accurasy over power on t-tar as it can be the difference between a ko and a miss.
Last is:
gengar @ life orb/focus sash
ability: levitate
evs: 4 hp/252 sp.a/252 spd
timid nature
moves:
-shadow ball
-sludge bomb
-focus blast
-wil-o-whisp/thunder bolt/destiny bond
alright this set when with t-tar has near perfect coverage. gengar also serves as the revenge killer of the two. gengar also can get a free switch if t-tar might face a earthquake.
Alright if this core is garbage ill never post here again. if this is my last post here id like to thank you for the 2 teams you made before. they are really good
Lol that beartic was complete garbage, u cant have beartic and not have superpower(ou)/low kick(uber)
With that team i have probably achieved a win loss ratio of 2-1, just by keeping enormous pressure with specs kingdra/lo colo/lo tic. the team is b awesome, and beartic cleans so well late game, because often all the opp has left is a ninja/drill/thundy/talon, and with swift swim, beartic does 70% to talon, neutralizing a huge threat or simply icicling thundy, then tanking a move after para and koing with superpower.
Beartic wins almost every 2-2 game when rain is up, so would you please stop ignoring my posts CTC and build a team with him.
Okay, so I really don't want to have to make this post since I'm honestly wondering why I'm still playing this game, but let the Beartic thing go. It's a garbage Pokemon, plain and simple. The fact that it sweeps bad players when all they have left are Pokemon that die to it does not impressive me because I could say the same thing about literally any other Pokemon (heck, I managed a Growth Sunkern sweep back in BW for this same reason, but that doesn't make Sunkern viable). It will not sweep against a good player at all. It's not that strong seeing as how base 110 Attack just isn't that impressive anymore, especially when you've said yourself that you can't often find room to set up Swords Dance. Not to mention that its strongest STAB is just 85 base power and that your best coverage move drops any power you might have had through the floor. And Aqua Jet? That's some weak sauce, lol. The fact that you only find yourself mustering ~70% against a Pokemon as frail as Talonflame with a super effective and Rain-boosted priority move isn't impressive, it's sad. Even with the coverage Beartic has, it's still getting stopped by a bunch of stuff like Azumarill, Skarmory, Slowbro, Mega Scizor, defensive Mega Venusaur, and a bunch of other junk that I'm not looking up right now. Beartic's speed is also awful. You hit a mere 398 Speed in Rain with your spread, which leaves you outsped by basically every relevant Choice Scarf user bar Modest ScarfTran or something, as well as a few faster things like Mega Manectric and neutral Mega Alakazam / Aerodactyl. Not to mention that Beartic is taking tons of damage from a lot of priority moves like Breloom's Mach Punch and Scizor Bullet Punch (and even Talonflame's Brave Bird, if you can't net the Aqua Jet KO). At least Omastar, another slow Swift Swimmer, can make up for its speed with its better bulk for tanking priority attacks more easily and the fact that its Hydro Pumps are so stupidly powerful in Rain. And at least it can outspeed Mega Manectric / Alakazam / Aerodactyl and Timid ScarfTran without the need of a +Spe nature, lol. Beartic also offers virtually nothing to a team defensively thanks to its blah bulk and bad defensive typing. Other Swift Swimmers generally have decent resistances to offer and/or few weaknesses of their own. Beartic only resists Ice and has four common weaknesses, which is bad. Rain teams succeed mainly because of the raw power of those Water-type Swift Swimmers running around with insane speed and powerful Rain-boosted STAB moves. When you've only got a few turns to abuse the Rain before you have to set it again, you can't afford to be wasting it on a Pokemon as bad as Beartic. Now, if CTC wants to make you a Beartic team, more power to him. But if he doesn't, then give it a rest because he's probably ignoring that idea for a darn good reason, that reason being that Beartic is awful.
