Team Making Block

yeah my newest team is built around countering shaymins weakneses so teams around one pokemon do work they just need to be played properly

Watching people play can help too. For me I stick to my BL'ish team ever since I joined shoddy (because I they are my favourites). I want to see how far up I can go with it. So far it's not too shabby. Like other people, I constantly update my team little by little by changing their EVs and moveset to better work with other team members. I do have an OU team that I made recently but it's not doing so well. lol.

Some honest advice would be to try and sign up for the next round of tutoring. My tutor this round is great and has helped me significantly with battling (primarily team building).

Pokemon may seem like something that you can't teach and anyone with reasonable intelligence can be succesful at, but trust me you will not regret giving the program a go.

EDIT: To the poster above - never, ever, EVER make a team that revolves around one pokemon. If that pokemon goes down due to a bad prediction, random surprise moveset of your opponent's, or sheer luck, you don't want to be screwed because the other five have no real synergy together but are just there to ensure a sweep for the one.

This isn't true at all. You would be a fool to build around one pokemon, but give the others no synergy, yes. However, building a team around one pokemon generally turns out to be very effective, since once you get a few specific counters gone, your one pokemon will be able to walk all over whoever you play.

Like a lot of other people here, I love trying new Pokemon. Unlike most of them, however, I love trying Pokemon that I previously hadn't touched for being "too OU". Like Celebi, Gyarados, and Infernape, I tried those and loved them, and didn't feel unoriginal at all. I also tried Togekiss and didn't feel ashamed at all when I swept teams with hax.
